Abaco Island is where you go during the This Tyro Captain quest. This is an early main story mission where you free some pirates and commandeer your first ship. The game sends you here naturally, so you do not have to hunt for the island yourself.

The key is to not rush off after the main objective. Take five extra minutes and clear every activity on the island before you sail away. Once you leave and the mission continues, you will not be punished — you can return — but doing it in one visit is faster.

Here is everything you need to complete on Abaco Island:

• One viewpoint — located in the middle of the island on a rocky outcrop. Use the trees on the south side to climb up to it.
• Hunt Iguanas — they roam the northwest and center of the island. They move slowly, so sprint after one and kill it with your hidden blade. You only need to skin one.
• Hunt Ocelots — hunting Ocelots is already part of the This Tyro Captain quest objective, so this will be done for you during the mission.
• Two underwater treasure chests — found in the shipwreck northeast of the island. Synchronize the viewpoint first and one chest will appear on your map. The second is slightly further north in a separate part of the same wreck.
• Message in a bottle — sitting right next to the small rowing boat on the west side of the island. You likely swam past it when you first came ashore from the Jackdaw.

Step-by-Step: How to 100% Abaco Island

Step 1 — Sync the Viewpoint First

As soon as you arrive on Abaco Island, head to the viewpoint in the center. Climb the rock using the trees on the south side. Synchronizing here will immediately reveal the two underwater chest locations and the treasure map on your map. This saves time because you will not have to search for them blind.

Step 2 — Collect the Treasure Map

Head to the southwest corner of the island. Look for a skeleton on the ground near coordinates 581, 804. The treasure map is right there next to it. Pick it up. Done.

Step 3 — Grab the Message in a Bottle

Walk to the west side of the island. You will spot a small rowing boat near the shoreline. The message in a bottle is right beside it. This is easy to miss because it sits flat on the ground, so look carefully near the boat.

Step 4 — Hunt Iguanas

If you have not already killed an Iguana during your exploration, head to the northwest or center of the island. Iguanas are small reptiles that move slowly across the ground. Sprint toward one and press the hidden blade attack to kill it quickly. Skin it and this task is done.

Step 5 — Hunt Ocelots

Ocelot hunting is required for the This Tyro Captain quest anyway, so this should already be ticked off by the time you get to it. If not, the Ocelots are found in the jungle areas of the island. They are faster than Iguanas so use your bow or pistol for a cleaner kill.

Step 6 — Open the Two Underwater Chests

Swim northeast from the island until you reach the shipwreck underwater. The first chest will be marked on your map after syncing the viewpoint. The second is just slightly north of the first, in a different section of the same broken wreck. Dive down, open both, and surface.

Step 7 — Check the Location Tracker

Open your map and select Abaco Island. You should see the location tracker showing 100%. Once every item is ticked, the Owned trophy / achievement will unlock automatically. No additional button press needed.
