Whether you are tracking your main story progress or planning which side quests to tackle first, this is your full reference from the Cape Bonavista prologue to the final credits. Resynced keeps the original 12-sequence structure intact and adds new missions, officer questlines, and a brand-new endgame chapter on top. All Main Story Missions in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
The main campaign follows Edward Kenway across 12 sequences and 43 core missions. Resynced preserves the original mission structure entirely for the core campaign, then layers new content on top. The new A World Without Gold chapter adds 8 further missions after Sequence 11, bringing the total story mission count to 51. Here is every main mission organized by sequence.
Sequence 1 — Cape Bonavista (Prologue)
This is where the game begins. Edward Kenway is shipwrecked off Cape Bonavista after a naval battle. He pursues an Assassin named Duncan Walpole through the jungle and takes his identity and robes. This sequence also introduces Stede Bonnet, who Edward encounters during his escape. It is a tight, linear prologue that sets up Edward’s entire arc before the Caribbean opens up.
- Edward Kenway — The opening mission. Shipwreck, jungle chase, and the first taste of combat and parkour in the rebuilt Anvil engine
Sequence 2 — Havana
Edward arrives in Havana using Walpole’s identity. He mingles with Templars, begins gathering intelligence, and sets the story’s main conflict in motion. These missions introduce tailing and eavesdropping — both of which are reworked in Resynced so that getting spotted no longer instantly ends the mission. Adéwalé joins the Jackdaw as Quartermaster during The Treasure Fleet, making him the first officer to come aboard — automatically, with no questline required.
- Lively Havana — Edward navigates Havana under his false identity
- …And My Sugar? — A tailing mission through Havana’s streets
- Mister Walpole, I Presume — Edward tracks a key Templar target
- A Man They Call the Sage — First encounter with the mysterious Sage
- Claiming What’s Due — Edward makes his move against the Templars
- The Treasure Fleet — Edward captures the Jackdaw and takes command of the ship for the first time. Adéwalé joins as Quartermaster here
Sequence 3 — The Open Caribbean
The Caribbean opens fully here. Edward starts plundering ships, building the Jackdaw, and recruiting crew. This is where the game’s naval systems start to click. In Resynced, the Rope Dart is unlocked during this sequence — much earlier than in the 2013 original — giving you far more combat and stealth options from this point forward.
- This Tyro Captain — First open-water mission introducing naval combat basics
- Now Hiring — Edward builds his crew
- Prizes and Plunder — Boarding mechanics tutorial through a plunder mission
- Raise the Black Flag — The Jackdaw gets its iconic flag. Rope Dart unlocks here in Resynced
- Sugarcane and Its Yields — Stealth tailing mission on Andreas Island
- Proper Defenses — Ship upgrade introduction
- A Single Madman — Assassination of Du Casse. Automatically rewards the first Templar Key
Sequence 4 — Great Inagua and the Assassins
Edward discovers the Great Inagua Hideout and properly meets the Assassin Brotherhood. Completing This Old Cove is a major milestone — it unlocks the Hideout, Kenway’s Fleet, all four Templar Hunts, and the Officer Questlines for Lucy Baldwin and The Padre simultaneously. Most of the game’s core side systems open up here. Assassin Contracts also become available after completing Overrun and Outnumbered with James Kidd.
- This Old Cove — Edward finds Great Inagua. Unlocks the Hideout, Kenway’s Fleet, all Templar Hunts, and the Lucy Baldwin and Padre Officer Questlines
- Nothing is True… — Edward engages properly with the Assassin Brotherhood
- The Sage’s Buried Secret — A chase and investigation mission
- Overrun and Outnumbered — Nassau faces pressure from multiple sides. Completing this unlocks all 30 Assassin Contracts
Sequence 5 — Forts and Fort Conquest
Fort captures become available starting here. Taking forts opens up Naval Contracts and strengthens your Kenway’s Fleet trading routes. Underwater diving also appears for the first time — Resynced reworks the underwater sections with tougher sea creatures and more demanding timing on higher difficulty settings.
- The Forts — Naval assault mission introducing fort capture
- Traveling Salesman — Tracking a merchant with critical information
- Unmanned — Stealth boarding mission
Sequence 6 — Diving and Charles-Towne
- Diving For Medicines — First dedicated underwater diving mission. Also the gate for The Padre’s third questline mission
- Devil’s Advocate — Political assassination in Kingston
- The Siege of Charles-Towne — One of the game’s largest naval battle missions
Sequence 7 — Parlay and Fire
- We Demand a Parlay — Negotiations collapse into violence
- The Gunpowder Plot — Stealth mission inside a fort
- Commodore Eighty-Sixed — High-value assassination
- The Fireship — An intense naval mission using fire as a weapon
Sequence 8 — Pursuit of the Observatory
- Do Not Go Gently… — Edward and the Sage push toward the Observatory. This mission also opens Blackbeard’s Treasure content
- Vainglorious Bastards — The pirate republic begins to fracture
- Marooned — Edward faces the consequences of his obsession
Sequence 9 — The Observatory
- Imagine My Surprise — Revelations as the Observatory comes within reach
- Trust is Earned — Edward rebuilds his relationship with the Assassins
New in Resynced: A letter from Stede Bonnet unlocks at this point, asking Edward to meet him on Mystery Island. This starts the new Stede Bonnet epilogue mission and brings his story to a proper conclusion that the original game left unfinished.
Sequence 10 — The Observatory Reached
- Black Bart’s Gambit — A confrontation with a legendary pirate
- Murder and Mayhem — Chaos spreads across Nassau
- The Observatory — The campaign’s major centerpiece mission
Sequence 11 — Captivity
- To Suffer Without Dying — Edward is imprisoned and at his lowest point
- Delirium — A disorienting sequence inside captivity
- …Everything is Permitted — Edward escapes and Anne Bonny joins the Jackdaw as the new Quartermaster, replacing Adéwalé. Completing this triggers the A World Without Gold questline and Deadman’s Officer Quest
Sequence 12 — Endgame
- A Governor No Longer — A major assassination in the final act
- Royal Misfortune — Edward closes in on the remaining Templars
- Tainted Blood — The story reaches its climax
- Ever a Splinter — The penultimate mission
- The End — The final cutscene and resolution of Edward’s arc. Resynced adds a new scene between Edward and his wife Caroline to deepen his personal journey before the credits roll

All New Missions Exclusive to Resynced
Resynced builds on the original campaign with new story missions that did not exist in 2013. Here is everything that is brand new.
A World Without Gold — 8 New Missions
This is the biggest single content addition in the entire remake. The A World Without Gold questline unlocks after completing Everything is Permitted in Sequence 11. Look for the quest marker That Bastard Maynard near the tavern in Great Inagua after leaving the Assassin Compound with Anne. The eight missions explore Blackbeard’s vision of a free pirate society and build toward a twist players will need to discover for themselves. This chapter also connects directly to Deadman’s Officer Questline — you encounter Tobias “Deadman” Smith partway through it, and he formally joins your crew after the mission It’s a Start (the fourth chapter mission), provided Lucy Baldwin and The Padre have already been recruited.
Stede Bonnet Epilogue
One new mission and a proper epilogue for Stede Bonnet, unlocking around Sequence 9. You receive a letter from Stede asking Edward to meet him on Mystery Island. The original game left his story dangling. Resynced gives him a real ending that fits everything we now know about the legendary gentleman pirate.
Four Animus Rifts (Optional)
Four optional Animus Rifts are available across the map. Each dives into a “What If” narrative scenario tied to a key character — Edward, Blackbeard, or James Kidd. These replace the original game’s modern-day Abstergo Entertainment office segments entirely. Those first-person office walks from 2013 are completely gone. The Rifts keep the focus on Edward’s Caribbean story and the characters that made it memorable.
Plantation Side Narratives
Each plantation now carries a short side story connected to finding the warehouse key. One involves a pet crocodile named Lucia. Another unfolds a forbidden love story between a British officer and the Lady of the house. These are not tracked on the main quest log but are worth catching as you pass through each plantation.
All Officer Questlines in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced
There are five officers in total in Black Flag Resynced. Two — Adéwalé and Anne Bonny — join automatically through the main story and do not have dedicated questlines. The other three each have optional questlines that reward powerful Jackdaw abilities. All three questlines unlock after completing This Old Cove in Sequence 4, except Deadman’s, which requires Sequence 11. For the complete mission-by-mission breakdown, see our Officer Quests walkthrough.
Lucy Baldwin — Shipwright
Lucy is found at Salt Key Bank (465, 608) and is the first recruitable officer you will encounter. Her questline has 4 missions and rewards two things: the Perfect Brace ship ability — a damage reduction mechanic that activates when you brace precisely as an enemy attack connects — and Baldwin’s Golden Pistols, one of the best early-game sidearms available. Perfect Brace is arguably the most useful officer ability of the three, especially heading into the game’s tougher late-game naval encounters.
The Padre (Abel Galvão) — Master-at-Arms
The Padre, whose full name is Abel Galvão, is found at Caracol (919, 339) — a small village on the southeast side of the map. His questline has 4 missions and rewards the Ram Dash ship ability, which surges the Jackdaw forward to deal massive collision damage to any ship it impacts. Smaller ships die to a single clean hit. Ram Dash recharges by dealing damage with your ship’s weapons. His full questline also rewards the Small Goblet trinket, which improves healing from food, drink, and remedies — making his chain one of the most practically useful to complete. Note that Padre’s third questline mission only becomes available after completing Diving for Medicines in Sequence 6.
Tobias “Deadman” Smith — Master Gunner
Deadman is the third recruitable officer, encountered through the A World Without Gold questline after Sequence 11. He formally joins after completing It’s a Start — the fourth mission in that chain — but only if Lucy Baldwin and The Padre have already been recruited. His initial reward is the Extra Salvo ability, which adds an extra volley to your broadside cannon fire for burst damage in naval engagements. Completing his full personal questline, including the final mission No Box Dark Enough, unlocks the Cohort Mortar — a precise, narrow-pattern mortar that saturates an area with Carcass bombs. Finishing his complete chain is the final major unlock in the entire game.
All Side Missions and Optional Content
The Caribbean is packed with optional missions and activities beyond the main story. Here is everything available.
Templar Hunts (4 Questlines, 16 Missions Total)
All four Templar Hunts unlock after you complete This Old Cove in Sequence 4. Each chain has 4 missions and ends in an assassination that rewards a Templar Key. You need five keys total to unlock the Templar Armor through the Damn Fine Gear side quest in your Great Inagua Hideout. The first key is earned automatically during the main story by killing Du Casse in A Single Madman. See our full all Templar Hunts walkthrough for every mission location and tip.
- Opia Apito’s Questline — Start at coordinates 304, 311 on Cayman Sound. Leads to the assassination of Lucia Marquez across interconnected islands
- Rhona Dinsmore’s Questline — Start at the Havana Assassin Bureau at 216, 569. A series of explosive missions through Havana streets targeting Templar Hilary Flint. The fastest of the four chains to complete
- Anto’s Questline — Based in Kingston. Involves a conflict between two brothers and a Templar known as the Queen of Pirates
- Upton Travers’ Questline — Tied to Nassau. Completing this chain provides the final Templar Key needed for the Templar Armor
All four Templar Hunts have been reworked in Resynced to better fit the updated parkour system and expanded stealth mechanics. The narrative around each target has also been deepened.
Assassin Contracts (30 Total)
There are 30 Assassin Contracts in total, unlocking after you complete Overrun and Outnumbered with James Kidd in Sequence 4. Skull icons appear on the map from Sequence 5 onward as you sync viewpoints. Each contract pays 1,500 Reales for the kill, with an extra 500 Reales for hitting the bonus challenge condition — a specific kill method such as a stealth assassination or a particular weapon. Completing 16 contracts rewards the Stealth Outfit and the Hidden Ones Sigil trinket. Finishing all 30 rewards the Spring-Steel Swords. Worth doing alongside the main story run rather than leaving for post-game. See our all Assassin Contracts locations guide for every target and bonus objective.
Naval Contracts (15 Total)
There are 15 Naval Contracts distributed across the forts you capture throughout the Caribbean. In Resynced, Milo van der Graaff hands these out in person at your Hideout rather than just as a name on a board. The first contract — A Spanish Plague in Great Inagua — unlocks the rest of the chain. Completing all Naval Contracts rewards unique items and contributes to full completion. See our all Naval Contracts locations guide for the full list.
Legendary Ships (6 Total)
Six Legendary Ships patrol specific areas of the Caribbean and represent the game’s hardest naval combat tests. Defeating them rewards Elite Ship Plans needed for the Jackdaw’s top-tier upgrades. In Resynced the Ram Dash ability — previously the reward for defeating all Legendary Ships in the original game — is now unlocked earlier by recruiting The Padre. This changes how you approach these fights, since you can have Ram Dash available well before you tackle them. See our guide on how to beat all 6 Legendary Ships for strategies on each one.
Mayan Stelae and Mayan Stones
There are 16 Mayan Stelae hidden across the Caribbean, each requiring an alignment puzzle from atop a pillar to reveal its location. Solving all of them and collecting all Mayan Stones rewards the Mayan Armor — which makes Edward nearly invincible in ground combat. Resynced adds a new bonus on top: completing the full Mayan Stone collection now also grants a Trinket that absorbs incoming gunfire, an additional perk that did not exist in the original game. See our guide to all Mayan Stelae locations for every puzzle.
Treasure Maps (12 Total)
There are 12 Treasure Maps hidden across the Caribbean, each leading to a buried chest with Reales, resources, or rare items. These are one of the best early and mid-game income sources for funding Jackdaw upgrades. For every location, see our dedicated Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced treasure map locations guide.
Kenway’s Fleet
Fully integrated into Resynced through the Captain’s Cabin — no companion app required. Captured ships can be sent on trading missions across five regions to earn passive income, rare items, and Art Pieces. Art Pieces specifically drop only from Brig Piracy missions and are needed to fill all the decoration slots in Great Inagua Manor. Keep a fleet of at least five Brigs constantly running Piracy missions to collect them efficiently. Our Kenway’s Fleet guide covers every route and the best ships to assign to each.
Underwater Shipwrecks
Scattered across the seabed, underwater shipwrecks contain valuable loot including Elite Plans and resources. Resynced reworks the underwater sections with variable creature damage and adjusted attack timing. Completing all Underwater Shipwrecks contributes toward full completion and specific trophy and achievement progress. Our all underwater shipwrecks locations guide covers every site and its loot.
Fort Captures (10 Total)
There are 10 forts to capture across the Caribbean, all becoming available from Sequence 5 onward. Capturing forts unlocks Naval Contracts for that region and contributes to passive income through Kenway’s Fleet trading routes. Capturing all forts unlocks the Sea Legs achievement and trophy. Our forts guide has every location and our fort capture guide walks through the full assault strategy.
Sea Shanties (26 Total)
There are 26 Sea Shanties to collect across the Caribbean, each adding a new song to the Jackdaw’s crew rotation. Sheet music is found in specific locations on each island. Collecting shanties is one of the most atmospheric side activities in the game and contributes to full completion. For how to find and change songs, see our shanties guide.
Tavern Brawls
Each major settlement has a Tavern where Edward can take on local fighters. Completing all Tavern fights earns Reales and a related trophy. These are quick to complete and a solid way to practice Resynced’s new parry-driven combat before facing tougher enemies later in the campaign.
Tips for Managing All Missions Efficiently
- Push to This Old Cove in Sequence 4 early: This single mission unlocks the Hideout, Kenway’s Fleet, all 4 Templar Hunts, and the Lucy Baldwin and Padre Officer Questlines all at once. It is the game’s biggest side-content gate
- Complete Overrun and Outnumbered before exploring: This unlocks all 30 Assassin Contracts. Doing them alongside the story rather than at the end keeps your Reales flowing steadily
- Recruit Lucy and The Padre as soon as their quests appear: Perfect Brace and Ram Dash make naval fights noticeably easier. Both are available right after This Old Cove. You also need both recruited before Deadman will join through A World Without Gold
- Check the Hideout after completing Everything is Permitted: The A World Without Gold chapter appears as quest marker That Bastard Maynard near the tavern in Great Inagua. It is easy to miss if you push straight to Sequence 12
- Check each city’s Assassin Bureau on arrival: This is where Assassin Contract chains and Templar Hunt starting points are found. Making it a habit each time you enter a settlement means nothing slips through
- Run Brigs on Piracy missions constantly: Art Pieces only come from Brig Piracy missions in Kenway’s Fleet. The more you have running, the faster you fill the Great Inagua Manor for full completion
