What Is the Community Treasure Hunt in AC Black Flag Resynced?

Shortly after launch, Ubisoft posted on social media: “We’ve heard word that 3 chests lie hidden across the Caribbean, each containing a unique bounty. We’ll drop a new clue every Friday of July. Remember… No pirate sails alone.”

The idea was a slow weekly reveal — one clue per Friday, pointing players toward hidden underwater chests loaded with exclusive loot. What actually happened was much faster. The community tracked down all three chests within days of the first clue dropping, before Ubisoft even had a chance to post the second. Ubisoft responded on social media with a laughing acknowledgement, writing that players’ treasure hunting skills were simply too good.

The chests are static and already placed in the game world. The weekly clue drops are purely a community engagement mechanic — you do not need to wait for a clue to collect any of them. All three are available to grab right now as long as you have sailing access to the relevant regions. The chests do not show on the map at all, and Eagle Vision does not highlight them. The trick to spotting them once you are in the right area is to look for a stream of bubbles rising from the ocean floor — that is your visual cue.

All Community Treasure Hunt Chest Locations in AC Black Flag Resynced

Chest 1 — Dry Tortuga (421, 939) — 4,000 Reales

The first chest is in the far northeast of the map, in the Dry Tortuga Sea off the coast of Florida. Sail to coordinates (421, 939) and look for a large rock jutting out of the water. Once you find the rock, dive down on the northwestern side of it. Swim to the seabed and look around the coral-covered rocks — the chest is resting on the ocean floor there.

The reward is 4,000 Reales. Not spectacular on its own, but a decent bonus early on if your funds are thin. It is the most straightforward of the three dives with no strong directional pull needed once you are at the rock. If you are actively farming gold for ship upgrades or crew costs, it is worth grabbing on your way north.

Chest 2 — Charlotte (500, 168) — Uncrowned Prince Rapier + Guardian Beast Figurehead

This is the most combat-relevant chest in the set. Sail to the Charlotte area and stop at approximately (500, 168), which is to the northeast of the Blue Hole shipwreck, directly west of Kingston. Dive in and swim east from your entry point down to the seabed. The chest is sitting on the ocean floor in that direction.

The rewards are:

• Uncrowned Prince (Legendary Rapier) — 25 base attack, Takedown count of 3, and a unique passive that heals you whenever you break an enemy’s defense. The damage is not the highest of the legendary weapons, but that health-on-defense-break is genuinely useful for aggressive combat styles.
• Guardian Beast Figurehead (Legendary) — A Jackdaw cosmetic you can equip at any Harbourmaster or through the Captain’s Quarters. Pair it with the ship customisation guide if you want to kit out the Jackdaw fully.

Do not confuse this dive site with other nearby underwater locations. Stick to swimming east from your entry and you will land on the chest without having to circle the area. No sharks, urchins, or jellyfish in this section either — it is a clean dive.

Once you have the Rapier, you can equip it from the Inventory menu under your rapier slot. You can also apply its cosmetic appearance to a different sword you prefer using via the Customise option on your equipped blades. Chest 3 — Chinchorro (28, 293) — Explorer Outfit + Aveline Figurehead

The final chest is in the Chinchorro area in the far northwest of the map. Fast travel to Corozal and sail north. Look for a large rock sticking out of the water near coordinates (28, 293). Dive down on the northeastern side of the rock and swim to the ocean floor — the chest is there, slightly northeast of your entry point.

Be aware there are Man O’ War and Frigate-class ships patrolling the cove on your approach. Clear them or sail around carefully before you dive. Once you are in the water, it is a clean approach to the chest.

The rewards are:

• Explorer Outfit (Rare) — This one caused a lot of discussion at launch. Many players assumed it had been cut from the game entirely since it was not available through normal progression. It is the classic red and white Assassin-style outfit and is the closest thing in Black Flag Resynced to a traditional Assassin’s uniform.
• Aveline Figurehead (Legendary) — A nod to Aveline de Grandpré from Assassin’s Creed Liberation. Equip it at any Harbourmaster or through the Jackdaw’s Captain’s Quarters.

Tips for Finding Underwater Chests

All three Community Treasure Hunt chests share the same rules. A few things to keep in mind before you dive:

• Eagle Vision does not work on these chests — they are specifically designed to stay hidden from it. Do not waste time activating it underwater.
• Look for bubbles rising from the ocean floor once you are in the right area. That stream of bubbles is the visual indicator that a chest is below.
• Use your coordinates carefully. Small differences between reported coordinates (421 vs 425, for example) come from different sources. The confirmed coordinates used by the majority of players are: Chest 1 at (421, 939), Chest 2 at (500, 168), and Chest 3 at (28, 293).
• You do not need to have seen Ubisoft’s clues to collect any of these. All three chests are available right now regardless of what has been officially revealed.
