If you’ve spotted a question mark hovering over Hernand Town on your map and can’t figure out what it is, you’re not alone. That icon represents a Mysterious Energy — and in this case, it marks the location of an Abyss Nexus, which is one of Crimson Desert’s fast travel platforms.

Finding and activating it early makes a big difference. Hernand Town is a hub you’ll return to constantly — for quests, crafting, resupplying, and story progression. Having a fast travel point here saves a lot of time.

What Is Mysterious Energy in Crimson Desert?

Before diving into the location, it helps to understand what Mysterious Energy actually means in this game.

Mysterious Energies appear as large white question marks on your map. They mark undiscovered points of interest. When you go to investigate one, you’ll find one of three things:

An Abyss Nexus — a stone platform that unlocks a fast travel point when activated
An Abyss Cresset — a puzzle-locked platform that also unlocks fast travel
A Secret Place — a hidden area with loot and rewards

The Mysterious Energy in Hernand Town specifically hides an Abyss Nexus — so no puzzle required. You just need to find the platform and stand on it.

Hernand Town Mysterious Energy Location

The Abyss Nexus in Hernand Town is on the north side of the road between the inn and Hernand Castle. Some players also find it by looking directly behind the Blacksmith (Smithy), as it sits in that general area.

It looks like a flat circular stone platform with an engraved pattern in the center. It’s easy to miss if you’re running past it without looking.

If you’re having trouble spotting it, use Blinding Flash (L1 + R1 on PlayStation, LB + RB on Xbox, Ctrl + Left Click on PC). This pulses a light from Kliff’s sword that highlights nearby Abyss Nexus points with a blue glow, making them much easier to see against the surrounding terrain.

How to Activate the Abyss Nexus in Hernand Town

Activation is simple:

Walk onto the circular stone platform.
Stand on it for a few seconds until it glows blue.
A short animation will play to confirm it’s activated.

That’s it. The question mark disappears from your map, and the location is now permanently saved as a blue fast travel icon.

How to Use the Abyss Nexus Fast Travel Point

Once the Abyss Nexus is active, you can teleport back to Hernand Town from anywhere in the world. Here’s how:

Open your map.
Make sure the filter is set to “All” or “Environment” so fast travel icons are visible.
Hover over the Abyss Nexus icon for Hernand Town.
Press Triangle (PlayStation), Y (Xbox), or double-click (PC) to fast travel.

How to Find Abyss Nexus Points You Haven’t Discovered Yet

If you’re still missing question marks on your map around Hernand, here’s the most efficient way to clear them:

Use Blinding Flash regularly. Every time you enter a new area, pulse Blinding Flash to scan for nearby Abyss Nexus and Abyss Cresset points. Blue glowing trails will lead you right to them.

Check your minimap when you’re close. The question mark also appears on your minimap as you approach. If it shows above or below your current position, you may need to climb or descend to reach it.

Don’t skip the ones near Hernand Castle. The Hernand region has 11 Abyss Nexus points in total. The ones near Hernand Town and Hernand Castle are the most useful early in the game since you’ll be coming back here constantly for story quests.

Ring the Bell at Hernand Town’s West Entrance

While you’re cleaning up Hernand Town, there’s one more thing worth doing right away — ringing the bell in the bell tower at the west entrance.

Here’s how to reach it:

Head to the west entrance of Hernand Town.
Find the crates to the east of the bell tower.
Climb the crates and make your way across the roof to reach the bell.
Interact with the bell to ring it.

Ringing the bell clears the fog of war over a large portion of the surrounding map, revealing nearby points of interest including Mysterious Energy locations, ruins, and more. It takes less than a minute and makes a noticeable difference in how much of the map you can see.

Now that you’ve activated the Abyss Nexus and rung the bell, here are a few other things worth doing while you’re in Hernand Town:

A few tips to make exploration more efficient:

Don’t ignore question marks. Every single one is worth investigating. Most give you a fast travel point or useful loot.
Use Blinding Flash as a scanner. Pulse it whenever you enter a new area. The blue glow gives away hidden platforms instantly.
Check above and below. Some Abyss Nexus points are on elevated ground or in lower areas. If you’re standing in the right spot but nothing’s activating, look up or down.
