TL;DR

  • Preorder and Deluxe Edition items are not given automatically — you must claim them manually
  • The first Supply Chest is at the Royal Trading Post in Hernand, right next to your bed when you wake up
  • Once Howling Hill Camp is unlocked in Chapter 3, the Supply Chest moves behind Carl the quartermaster
  • If items are missing, go to Menu > Others > Options > Add-ons and claim them from there
  • Preorder bonus: Khaled Shield
  • Deluxe Edition bonus: Full Kairos armor set, Balgran Shield, and complete Exclaire horse gear set
  • All bonus items are upgradable through Refinement so they stay useful throughout the game

If you preordered or bought the Deluxe Edition of Crimson Desert and cannot find your bonus items, you are not alone. The game does not hand them to you automatically when you boot up. You have to go and collect them yourself from a Supply Chest, and the chest location changes as you progress through the story.

This guide covers where to find the chest at every stage of the game, what items you are owed, and how to use the Add-ons menu if anything is still missing after collecting from the chest.

Where to Claim Your Bonus Items

Early Game — Royal Trading Post, Hernand

The first Supply Chest appears very early in the game. After completing the opening missions and arriving in Hernand City, you will wake up in a tent at the Royal Trading Post. The Supply Chest is right beside your bed when you wake up.

Open it and all of your preorder and Deluxe Edition items will be inside waiting to be claimed. Do not walk past it without checking — some players rush out of the tent and miss it entirely.

Chapter 3 Onward — Howling Hill Camp

Once you unlock the Greymane Camp at Howling Hill in Chapter 3, the Supply Chest is relocated here. You will not find it at the Royal Trading Post anymore.

At Howling Hill Camp, head to the quartermaster Carl. The Supply Chest is right behind him. Any unclaimed items, Twitch Drop rewards, and promotional bonuses all land here from Chapter 3 onward.

This is also where your Twitch Drop rewards are collected once you have claimed them on Twitch. If you are not sure how that process works, our full guide on how to get Crimson Desert Twitch Drops covers every step.

How to Claim Items from the Add-ons Menu

Pearl Abyss resolved an early issue where some players were not receiving their preorder and Deluxe Edition items correctly. If you opened the Supply Chest and your items are not there, or if you purchased the game after the initial launch period, use the Add-ons menu instead:

  1. Open the main menu in Crimson Desert
  2. Go to Others
  3. Select Options
  4. Find the Add-ons section
  5. Your unclaimed bonus items will be listed here — select them to add them to your inventory

This method works regardless of where you are in the game and does not require you to be near a Supply Chest. If items are still not appearing after trying this, check that your platform account is correctly linked to your Pearl Abyss ID and that the purchase is registered on the right account.

All Preorder and Deluxe Edition Bonus Items

Here is a complete list of every bonus item and which edition it comes with:

Preorder Bonus

  • Khaled Shield

Deluxe Edition Bonus

  • Khaled Shield
  • Kairos Plate Helm
  • Kairos Plate Gloves
  • Kairos Plate Boots
  • Kairos Cloak
  • Kairos Plate Armor
  • Balgran Shield
  • Exclaire Champron
  • Exclaire Barding
  • Exclaire Saddle
  • Exclaire Stirrups

The Deluxe Edition includes everything from the preorder bonus plus the full Kairos armor set, the Balgran Shield, and the complete Exclaire horse gear set. The Exclaire set covers all four horse equipment slots — saddle, barding, champron, and stirrups — giving your mount a matching look to go with the Kairos armor.

Are the Bonus Items Worth Using?

Yes, and for longer than you might expect. None of these items are pay-to-win in the traditional sense. They are not so powerful that they trivialise the game’s difficulty. Think of them as a solid head start rather than a shortcut.

More importantly, all bonus items are fully upgradable through the Refinement system. This means you can take the Kairos armor set and keep pushing its defense rating higher as you progress, rather than replacing it with drops after a few hours. If you invest in refining the Deluxe Edition gear early, it can stay relevant deep into the mid-game.

The Exclaire horse gear is a nice bonus for mounted play. Horse equipment improves your horse’s performance in and out of combat, and having a complete matching set from the start gives you a foundation to build on without having to piece together horse gear from vendors.

Quick Tips for Bonus Items

  • Check the Supply Chest the moment you wake up at the Royal Trading Post — it is right there and easy to miss in the rush of the opening quests
  • If the chest is empty and you know you should have items, go straight to the Add-ons menu
  • Do not discard or sell the Kairos armor or Balgran Shield early — they are refinable and can stay useful for a long time
  • The Exclaire horse gear slots directly onto your horse from your mount equipment menu
  • Make sure your game is fully updated before claiming — some bonus item issues were resolved in early patches

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you claim preorder items in Crimson Desert?

Find the Supply Chest next to your bed at the Royal Trading Post in Hernand after the opening missions. Open it to claim all your bonus items. If you have unlocked Howling Hill Camp in Chapter 3, the chest moves to behind quartermaster Carl at that location. If items are missing, go to Menu > Others > Options > Add-ons to claim them directly.

Where is the Supply Chest in Crimson Desert?

There are two locations depending on your story progress. Early in the game it is next to your bed at the Royal Trading Post in Hernand. From Chapter 3 onward it moves to Howling Hill Camp, right behind the quartermaster Carl. The chest holds all unclaimed preorder bonuses, Deluxe Edition items, and Twitch Drop rewards.

What do you get with the Crimson Desert Deluxe Edition?

The Deluxe Edition includes the Khaled Shield, the full Kairos armor set covering helm, gloves, boots, cloak, and chest armor, the Balgran Shield, and the complete Exclaire horse gear set including saddle, barding, champron, and stirrups. All items are upgradable through the Refinement system.

What do you get for preordering Crimson Desert?

Preordering Crimson Desert gives you the Khaled Shield as a bonus item. The Deluxe Edition includes the Khaled Shield plus all additional Kairos and Exclaire bonus items on top of that.

Are Crimson Desert Deluxe Edition items pay to win?

No. The bonus items give you a useful head start but they do not make the game trivially easy. They are gear pieces with normal stats that fit within the standard Refinement system. You can upgrade them like any other item in the game, but they do not give you a power level that skips the intended challenge of the story.
