How to Get Wheat in Pokémon Pokopia — Find It, Grow It & What It’s Used For

TL;DR

• Wheat is found naturally in Rocky Ridges, unlocked after completing the “Yawn Up A Storm” quest in the Withered Wasteland and reaching Great Trainer Rank
• Head past the Rocky Ridges Pokémon Center and follow the railway tracks to the left — or enter via the northwest gate, go up the stairs, and head straight down to the tattered farmstead at the end

How to Get Wheat in Pokémon Pokopia

Wheat first becomes available once you reach Rocky Ridges, the mining-focused region unlocked after completing the “Yawn Up A Storm” quest in the Withered Wasteland and achieving Great Trainer Rank. You cannot find or grow Wheat before reaching this area. Rocky Ridges is based on Pewter City and can be unlocked at the same time as Bleak Beach — both regions open up after that key rank milestone.

There are three ways to get Wheat in Pokopia:

Step 1 — Find Natural Wheat in Rocky Ridges

When you first arrive at Rocky Ridges, the naturally growing Wheat crops won’t be labelled — they’ll show as ‘???’ until you harvest them for the first time. Once you do, Wheat is added to your knowledge base. The farm contains around 12 Wheat total: 6 are already ready to harvest, and the remaining plots just need watering.

There are two routes to reach the Wheat from the Rocky Ridges entrance — use whichever fits your current position:

Route A (from the northwest gate / Withered Wasteland entrance):

1. Head through the northwest gate of the Withered Wasteland to enter Rocky Ridges (just beyond the cave where you found the trapped Onix)
2. Go up the stairs just beyond the entrance
3. Head straight down from the top of those stairs along the corridor
4. At the end of this path, you’ll find the tattered farmstead with Wheat growing in the plots

Route B (from the Rocky Ridges Pokémon Center):

1. Head to the Pokémon Center in Rocky Ridges (southern area)
2. Walk past it and follow the railway tracks to the left — the Wheat farm is here

Some of the Wheat plots will be dry and will need watering before the crops are ready to harvest. Use Water Gun to water them. Note: There is already a Sprinkler at the farmstead — pick it up and place it in the middle of the unwatered plots to water them all at once instead of doing it manually. Once harvested, progress to Environment Level 3 in Rocky Ridges to unlock Wheat Seeds in the PC Shop.

Step 2 — Unlock Wheat Seeds in the PC Shop

Wheat Seeds do not automatically appear in the PC Shop after you first discover Wheat — you need to raise your Rocky Ridges Environment Level to 3 first. Once that’s achieved, five Wheat Seeds become permanently available for 50 Life Coins per batch. Seeds can be bought in bulk as your Coin supply allows — stocking up is worthwhile given how frequently Wheat is needed in recipes, requests, and the main Rocky Ridges quest. Step 3 — Plant and Grow Your Own Wheat

With Wheat Seeds in hand, you can now farm your own supply. Important: unlike Beans, Wheat does not grow on its own — it must be watered. Here’s how:

1. Till a block using the Rototiller move (press ZR while standing on grass or dirt) — this prepares the soil for planting
2. Plant your Wheat Seeds in the tilled block
3. Water the seeds using Water Gun, or place a Sprinkler nearby to automate watering
4. Optionally, bring a Pokémon with the Grow Specialty (like Bulbasaur) close to the crops — they will speed up growth automatically
5. Wait for the Wheat to grow — crops grow in real time; check back periodically to harvest

A few farming tips worth knowing:

• Sprinklers are worth setting up early — manually watering large crop plots every session gets tedious quickly. Automate it as soon as you can
• Bring a Grow Specialty Pokémon (Bulbasaur, Tropius, etc.) to your farm — they passively speed up growth for all nearby crops without needing to be asked
• Rain waters crops automatically — in a rain cycle, you can skip the watering step entirely for that day
• Restore the water flow at the Rocky Ridges farmstead as early as possible — clearing the debris blocking the waterways lets the pre-placed Sprinkler automatically water all nearby crops
• Multiple tilled blocks side by side let you scale up Wheat production easily — set up a dedicated farm plot near your Workbench for a clean, efficient setup

Bonus: Other Ways to Get Wheat Seeds

Beyond buying from the shop, there are two additional ways to pick up Wheat Seeds without spending Coins:

What Is Wheat Used For in Pokémon Pokopia?

Once you have Wheat, there are several important ways to use it — and the demand comes earlier and in larger quantities than most players expect. Start stockpiling as soon as you reach Rocky Ridges.

Cooking — Bread Recipe (Powers Up Cut)

Wheat’s most important early use is baking Bread. You need 3 Wheat and a Bread Oven to bake a loaf — the Bread Oven recipe is taught by Torkoal during the Rocky Ridges main questline. You’ll also need a Fire-type Pokémon (like Scorbunny) nearby to light the oven before you can bake.

Eating Bread powers up the Cut move, allowing Ditto to cut through metal fences and — if charged — perform Cut on objects at a greater distance. Rocky Ridges Main Quest — “Time To Party” Curry

The Rocky Ridges main questline culminates with Chef Dente asking you to cook a large curry for the party. This requires: 15 Wheat, 15 Leppa Berries, 15 Beans, and 5 Honey. This is a much larger Wheat demand than most players anticipate — start farming Wheat and Beans as soon as you arrive in Rocky Ridges so you’re not scrambling at the end of the questline.

Team Initiation Challenge Stage 2

You need 10 Wheat for Stage 2 of the Team Initiation Challenge, which also requires 10 Tomatoes and 10 Beans. This challenge requires progress across multiple regions — Beans come from Withered Wasteland, Tomatoes from Bleak Beach, and Wheat from Rocky Ridges. Combined with the 15 Wheat for the Party quest, that’s at least 25 Wheat you’ll want to have ready in Rocky Ridges.

Raw Consumption — PP Restoration
