Is There Crossplay in Mistfall Hunter?
Mistfall Hunter crossplay is fully supported across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S right from launch on July 29, 2026. Developer Bellring Games and publisher Skystone Games built cross-platform play into the game from day one, which means your three-player squad can mix platforms freely. A Steam player, a PS5 player, and an Xbox player can all drop into the same Gyldenmist run together without any workarounds.
This was confirmed by Bellring Games in a pre-launch interview and is also listed directly on the Xbox Store, which shows both “Xbox cross-platform multiplayer” and “Xbox cross-platform co-op” in the game’s feature tags. Before you start inviting friends though, there are a few important things to understand — especially around cross-progression, region locks, and how the friend system actually works. What Platforms Is Mistfall Hunter Available On?
Mistfall Hunter is available on three platforms:
- PC — via Steam and Xbox PC Game Pass
- Xbox Series X|S — including Xbox Game Pass
- PlayStation 5 — via the PlayStation Store
The game released on July 29, 2026 across all three platforms on the same day. It is a third-person PvPvE extraction ARPG with Souls-like combat from Bellring Games, published by Skystone Games. The Standard Edition is priced at $24.99 and the Deluxe Edition at $39.99, with a launch discount running through August 12, 2026. The Deluxe Edition adds a cosmetic set, an avatar frame, and 2,500 Fate Coins, and you can upgrade from Standard to Deluxe later.
Does Mistfall Hunter Have Crossplay?
Yes. Mistfall Hunter supports full crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, so you can play with all your friends regardless of their system. PC and console players can enter matchmaking together and form mixed-platform squads.
As Mistfall Hunter allows teams of up to three players, you could theoretically have one player on Steam, another on PS5, and a third on Xbox fighting through the Gyldenmist together. The shared player pool is also good for the game overall — it means faster matchmaking and fuller lobbies across all platforms.
There is no toggle to set up: crossplay is simply how the game runs, in both co-op and PvP. Because Mistfall Hunter is a PvPvE extraction game, that means the squad that third-parties your boss fight can be on any platform, and so can the teammates who pull you back up.

How to Add Cross-Platform Friends in Mistfall Hunter
This is where a lot of players run into confusion. Mistfall Hunter does not use your Steam friends list or your Xbox friends list to connect with people on other platforms. It has its own in-game friend network.
Finish the tutorial to unlock the main base, open the Team menu, then search your friend’s numeric Player ID — not their Steam or Xbox name — to add them. Your Player ID can be found in the top-left corner of the screen next to your username once you are inside the game.
Once you have added each other by Player ID, you can invite them to your party from the social menu. Once your squad is grouped and everyone readies up on the play screen, matchmaking starts and you deploy together into the mist.
In-game voice chat carries across platforms while you are in a party, so a PC player and a PS5 player can talk without a separate app — though most squads still fall back on Discord or Steam voice.
Is There Cross-Progression in Mistfall Hunter?
This is the most important thing to understand before you buy the game on more than one platform. Cross-progression is not supported in Mistfall Hunter — at least not for most platform combinations.
The catch is progression: there is no cross-save, so the characters and loot you build stay on the platform you play them on. If you split time between a PC and a console, treat one as your main — your currencies and gear collection will not sync.
The one exception is within the Xbox ecosystem. Xbox console and Xbox on PC share progress with each other through Xbox Play Anywhere. Purchases, saves, and achievements carry between the two. Steam and PlayStation 5 do not currently support cross-progression.
In short: pick one platform as your main before you invest time into camp upgrades, crafting, and gear progression. Switching platforms later means starting completely fresh on the new one.
Can You Disable Crossplay in Mistfall Hunter?
Crossplay can be disabled on consoles. Console players who prefer to play in console-only lobbies have the option to turn it off in their settings. Keep in mind that disabling crossplay will reduce your matchmaking pool and is likely to increase queue times, especially in off-peak hours.
If you are grouping with a PC friend, make sure crossplay is turned on before you try to invite them. PC players do not have a crossplay toggle — the setting only exists on console clients.
Does Mistfall Hunter Support Cross-Region Play?
No. Cross-region play is not supported. Your teammates need to share your region.
Bellring’s July 24, 2026 Launch FAQ documents five server regions: China, United States, Germany, Singapore, and Brazil. North American storefront accounts — United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands — receive the NA build and NA servers only. This means a player in the US and a player in the UK cannot be in the same run together, even if they are on the same platform.
Region follows the store account’s registered country, not your physical location. So if you bought the game from a US store account while traveling abroad, you are still on NA servers.
Squad Sizes and Queue Options
Squads support up to three players. The game launched with both Solo and Trios queues. There is no dedicated duo queue. If you and a friend queue together as a pair, you will typically be placed into Trios matchmaking and may face full three-player squads.
This is worth knowing before you jump in with just one friend. You will have the numbers disadvantage against full squads in PvP encounters. Playing with a full group of three is recommended when you are taking on harder content or venturing into high-value loot areas.
Is Mistfall Hunter Always Online?
Mistfall Hunter is always online — it is a session-based extraction game built around live servers, with no offline mode. Solo play still puts you against the environment and any other hunters who cross your path. There is no way to play the game offline, even if you prefer to run alone.
Console players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S need an active online subscription — PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass / Xbox Live — to access online multiplayer.
Does Mistfall Hunter Work on Steam Deck?
Mistfall Hunter has not been rated Steam Deck Verified, and it uses Bellring’s anti-cheat, which can be hit-or-miss with the Deck’s Linux and Proton setup. Treat handheld play as unconfirmed for now and check recent community reports before relying on it.
Xbox Cloud Gaming is another handheld option for Game Pass subscribers. The game is accessible via Xbox Cloud Gaming on mobile and browser devices, which sidesteps the Steam Deck compatibility issue entirely.

Wrapping Up
Mistfall Hunter’s crossplay implementation is clean and works well. There is nothing to set up — you just add your friend by Player ID and queue together. The shared player pool across all three platforms keeps matchmaking fast and lobbies active.
The only real catch is cross-progression. If you and a friend are buying the game to play together, make sure you are buying it on platforms in the same region. And if you plan to play long-term, pick one platform and stick with it — your camp, gear, and Gyldenblod all stay tied to where you earned them.
