Bellring Games’ dark fantasy extraction RPG Mistfall Hunter has already hit a massive milestone, crossing one million players in just one week after launch. The achievement is even more impressive when you consider the game launched on July 29, 2026, and the studio announced the milestone on August 6 — barely seven days into the game’s life. If you’re on Xbox Game Pass, PS5, or Steam and haven’t tried it yet, this might be the nudge you needed, especially since free rewards are on the table right now.
Mistfall Hunter Hits 1 Million Players in One Week
Developer Bellring Games took to social media to confirm that over one million Gyldhunters have now entered the world of Weavereach. The milestone is genuinely remarkable for a paid game — Mistfall Hunter carries a base price of $24.99, with a 10% introductory discount knocking it down to $22.49 for non-Game Pass players. The fact that it cleared seven figures so fast despite not being a free-to-play title says a lot about the hype surrounding it.
A big chunk of that number came straight from Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, where Mistfall Hunter landed as a day-one inclusion. PlayStation 5 players had no equivalent deal through PS Plus, but the cross-platform availability across Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S clearly cast a wide net. The game’s mix of Souls-influenced combat, extraction mechanics, and fantasy atmosphere — comparisons to Elden Ring have been thrown around more than once — gave it strong word-of-mouth right out of the gate.
For comparison, the game also pulled in 500,000 players within just two days of launch, so the climb to one million was rapid. That said, reviews on Steam are currently sitting at Mixed, which suggests the game has work to do in winning over the more skeptical corners of the community. Still, raw player numbers don’t lie — people are clearly willing to jump in and see what the fuss is about.

How to Claim Your Free Rewards Before August 12
To celebrate the one million milestone, Bellring Games is sending every player a bundle of free in-game goodies. You’ll find the rewards sitting in your in-game mailbox, but you have to log in before August 12 at 12:00 UTC+0 to actually claim them. Miss that window and they’re gone, so don’t sleep on it.
Here’s exactly what you’re getting:
- Standing Pose: Spellcasting
- Moonlight Nectar x5
- Pro Combat Bag x1
It’s not game-changing loot, but free gear to boost your extractions is never worth turning down. Just log in, head to your mailbox, and grab everything before the deadline. Simple as that.
Brandrgarde Solo Mode Is Coming in September
One of the loudest community requests since launch has been a proper Solo Mode for Brandrgarde, the game’s second map. Bellring Games has officially listened — Solo Mode for Normal and Cataclysm difficulties of Brandrgarde is confirmed to arrive in the middle of Season 1, which puts it somewhere in September 2026.
Right now, solo players are limited to just one of the two maps, which has been a frustration for people who prefer going lone wolf. The developer did acknowledge that splitting the player base with a dedicated solo queue could affect matchmaking balance, but they’re pushing ahead with it anyway in response to community feedback. That’s a decent sign that Bellring is actually paying attention to what players want rather than just chasing numbers.
A client update that dropped on August 6 also improved Dried Flower Knot drop rates, addressed stability issues, and unlocked the Mist Lord Challenge within Einherjar Mode. So there’s already been active maintenance post-launch, which is good to see from a team managing a live-service game.

Mistfall Hunter Season 1 Roadmap — Three Phases Explained
Alongside the one million player announcement, Bellring Games dropped the full Season 1 roadmap, broken into three distinct phases. Here’s what’s coming and when.
Phase 1 — Soul Harvest and Season Tasks Begin
The first phase opens up Season Tasks, which function as structured objectives tied to the season. The flagship event here is Soul Harvest, a limited-time activity where players perform rituals during matches, face off against elite enemies, and deal with rival teams in PvPvE scenarios. Completing Soul Harvest activities earns you Soul Coins and Moonlight Nectar, plus exclusive collectibles you can’t get anywhere else. Phase 1 also sees the Mist Lord Challenge go live in Aishahar, which is a boss difficulty escalation mode that rewards significantly better gear drops in exchange for spending special resources. The Ancestor’s Tree Random Match Event on Hallowgrove also lands mid-Season 1.
Phase 2 — Full Season Tasks and Brandrgarde Solo Mode
Phase 2 arrives in September and is where things get more substantial. Season Tasks become fully unlocked, meaning the complete scope of seasonal progression opens up. Most importantly, this is when Brandrgarde Solo Mode officially goes live for both Normal and Cataclysm difficulties. An Underlord Speed Challenge is also being added in this phase, giving more competitive players another way to push their limits and chase better runs.
Phase 3 — New Monster and Ancestor’s Tree Event
Phase 3 is projected for October 2026 or later and introduces a brand new monster called the Golden Woodling. You’ll encounter it as part of a new event tied to the Ancestor’s Tree. Phase 3 also serves as the lead-in to Season 2, with the roadmap ending on a teaser for what’s coming next. There’s also mention of a free Slumbering Contract battle pass that unlocks after seven total login days, which don’t need to be consecutive — a welcome quality-of-life touch for people who can’t grind every day.
Season 2 Preview — Javelin Weapon and New Progression System
While Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet, Bellring Games has already dropped some early details. The biggest confirmed addition is a Javelin weapon type for the Blackarrow class. Right now, Blackarrow is the only class in the game without a secondary weapon, relying entirely on a bow. The Javelin is expected to give Blackarrow players mid-range melee options, potentially creating hybrid melee/ranged build paths that open up real new playstyle diversity for one of the game’s more limited classes.
Beyond that, Season 2 will bring a completely new season theme, a season-exclusive progression system, and additional content that hasn’t been detailed yet. It’s still early days for Mistfall Hunter, but the roadmap at least signals that Bellring is thinking months ahead rather than patching reactively.
If you’re into games that launch with big ambitions and grow through their season structure, it’s worth keeping an eye on where this one goes. Is Mistfall Hunter Worth Playing Right Now?
That’s going to depend heavily on what you’re looking for. If you’re on Xbox Game Pass, there’s genuinely zero reason not to at least try it — the risk is nothing. On Steam and PS5, the $24.99 entry price (currently discounted) is low enough that it’s not a massive gamble if the extraction RPG formula appeals to you.
The game gives you six classes to choose from — Mercenary, Sorcerer, Withered Knight, Shadowstrix, Mace Seer, and Blackarrow — each with dual weapon stances and their own ability sets. You can squad up or play solo depending on the map, and cross-platform play means linking up with friends across Xbox, PS5, and PC is seamless. The extraction loop — drop in, fight AI and real players, loot up, find an escape portal — works well enough, and the dark fantasy setting gives it a distinct vibe that separates it from other extraction games on the market.
Mixed Steam reviews suggest it’s not a finished, polished product yet, and some rough edges are definitely present. But with a dev team clearly listening to feedback, a roadmap with real content targets, and a million players already in the ecosystem, Mistfall Hunter looks like it’s settling in for the long haul rather than burning out fast.
The free login rewards expire August 12 at 12:00 UTC+0, so if you’re already playing or on the fence, now is the time to jump in and at least grab what’s on offer before it disappears.
