There are two Giant Iguana variants in Crimson Desert: the Giant Green Iguana and the Giant Red Iguana. Despite the different names and appearances, they are identical in stats and combat behavior. Both use the same taming mechanics, accept the same food, and perform the same way once registered as a mount. The only difference is their color and the location where you find them.

What to Bring Before You Go

Both iguana variants are fed vegetables to raise their Trust. The most efficient option is Turnips, which give +40 Trust per feeding. Since you need to reach 100 Trust total, you need a minimum of 3 Turnips — but bring 5 to 6 in case of feeding interruptions or dismounting.

• Grocer in Tommaso — The most convenient source since Tommaso is also the Green Iguana location. Buy Turnips here before taming.
• Glenbright Farm in Hernand — You can harvest Turnips directly from the farm fields.

Giant Green Iguana Location and How to Tame It

Location — City of Tommaso, Tashkalp

The Giant Green Iguana is found in the City of Tommaso in the Tashkalp region of the Crimson Desert. Head to the eastern part of the city — multiple Giant Green Iguanas rest here in courtyards, near merchant areas, and in open squares. They are large, pre-saddled lizards that are easy to spot once you arrive.

These iguanas are pre-tamed and considered owned by the locals. You are essentially stealing one, which means mounting it inside the city will raise your wanted level. This is manageable with a little preparation.

How to Tame the Green Iguana — Step by Step

1. Equip a mask or disguise before entering the eastern part of the city. Wearing a disguise reduces detection risk when you approach and mount the iguana. This gives you a few extra seconds to get away before guards react.
2. Buy Turnips from the Grocer in Tommaso before heading to the eastern district — it saves a trip back.
3. Approach a Giant Green Iguana and mount it. No combat required for the green variant — simply walk up and interact to ride it. You do not need to weaken or stun it first.
4. Ride away from the city immediately. Once mounted, gallop out of the city as fast as possible to put distance between you and any pursuing guards. Get far enough outside the city boundaries to lose your wanted level before attempting to feed.
5. Feed the iguana while riding. Open your inventory, select a Turnip, and choose Feed. Each Turnip adds 40 Trust. Feed 3 Turnips to reach 100 Trust.
6. Take In the iguana. Once the Trust bar hits 100, press Triangle (PS5) / Y (Xbox) to permanently register the Giant Green Iguana as your special mount.

Tips for the Green Iguana taming:

• Fast travel to the nearest Abyss Nexus in Tommaso for the quickest access to the eastern district.
• Do not try to feed the iguana while still in the city — wait until you are clear of any wanted level before opening your inventory.
• If you fall off or dismount before reaching 100 Trust, the iguana will wander. You may need to remount it or find another one in the eastern district.
• If the iguanas in the eastern district are missing on your current visit, leave the area and return after advancing some in-game time.

Giant Red Iguana Location and How to Tame It

Location — Iguana Hatchery

The Giant Red Iguana is found at the Iguana Hatchery, located east of the “D” in “Crimson Desert” on your world map — also described by some players as just under the “R” in “Crimson” on the map. It sits in the hostile territory of the Crimson Desert region, deeper than the Tommaso area.

Unlike the Green Iguana in the city, the Red Iguanas at the Hatchery are in an active enemy camp. They are ridden by hostile enemy riders who must be dealt with before you can tame one. The Red Iguanas themselves are also considered hostile in this context.

How to Tame the Red Iguana — Step by Step

1. Clear the Iguana Hatchery camp. Fight and defeat all the hostile riders and enemy NPCs in the area. Be careful not to kill all the iguanas in the process — you need at least one alive to tame.
2. Leave one Red Iguana alive. This is the most common mistake. In the heat of combat, players accidentally kill every iguana. Once the riders are dead, disengage from the remaining iguana and switch to careful, controlled attacks.
3. Weaken the Red Iguana without killing it. Use low-damage attacks or Force Palm to stun and subdue it. Reduce its health enough to trigger the Ride prompt — do not finish it off.
4. Wait for the Ride prompt and mount the iguana when it appears.
5. Feed Turnips while mounted. Open your inventory, select a Turnip, and choose Feed. Three Turnips reaches 100 Trust.
6. Take In the iguana. Press Triangle (PS5) / Y (Xbox) at 100 Trust to permanently register it as your special mount.

• If you kill all the iguanas accidentally, leave the Hatchery area, advance in-game time, and return for a respawn.

After Taming — Saddle and Summoning

Once tamed, both iguana variants appear in your Special Mounts tab and can be summoned at any time through your mount wheel, just like horses and other special mounts.
