How to Make Pets Attack Enemies in Crimson Desert

How to Make Pets Attack Enemies in Crimson Desert — get the Sigil of Valor from Lacey in Pororin, equip it on your dog, and turn your pet into a combat companion.

TL;DR

  • Making pets attack enemies requires the Sigil of Valor, a dog-exclusive pet accessory added in Patch 1.06.00.
  • Only dogs can attack enemies — cats and birds are not affected by this item even if you equip it.
  • Buy the Sigil of Valor from Lacey, a secret roaming vendor in Pororin Village (also called Florindale).
  • You must first complete the Unreachable Village faction quest to access Pororin.
  • Lacey is not stationary — she walks a patrol loop around the village. Look for a small Shai NPC in a pale green hood with a large backpack.
  • To equip: open your inventory → Pets tab → summon your dog → slot the Sigil of Valor into the pet accessory slot.
  • Once equipped, the dog automatically attacks enemies during combat — and cannot be killed.
  • Lacey also sells the Sigil of Bonding (cats on shoulder) and Palmar Pills — pick the right item.

How to make pets attack enemies in Crimson Desert is a question a lot of players have asked since launch — up until Patch 1.06.00, dogs followed you around and helped loot items, but never joined the fight. That changed with the addition of the Sigil of Valor, a new pet accessory that turns your dog into an active combat companion. This guide covers everything: what the item does, where to get it, how to find the elusive vendor, and exactly how to equip it. What Is the Sigil of Valor?

The Sigil of Valor is a pet accessory introduced in Patch 1.06.00. When equipped on a summoned dog, it gives the dog an active combat behavior — your pet will leave your side, run at enemies, and bite and harass them during fights. It is the first item in the game that turns a pet into a genuine combat participant rather than a passive follower.

A few important things to know before going to get it:

  • Dogs only. The Sigil of Valor exclusively affects dog pets. Cats, birds, the Legendary Phoenix, and other pets will not gain attack behavior even if you own the item. The Sigil simply does nothing on non-dog species.
  • Your dog cannot be killed. Even though the dog charges into combat and takes hits from enemies, it cannot die. There is no risk of losing your pet from using this accessory.
  • It does not replace your combat. The dog deals supplementary chip damage and provides distraction value. It is a nice bonus — not a dominant damage source.

Where to Get the Sigil of Valor — Lacey in Pororin Village

The Sigil of Valor is sold by Lacey, a secret roaming vendor found in Pororin Village, the hidden Shai settlement in the Hernand region also known as Florindale.

Step 1 — Unlock Pororin Village First

Pororin is not accessible at the start of the game. You need to complete the Unreachable Village faction questline to unlock it. Here is how the questline works:

  • Try to enter Pororin Village directly. The first three times you approach without permission, you will be sleep darted and turned away.
  • After the third attempt, a Shai NPC named Arklin will appear and give you the Unreachable Village quest.
  • Complete the questline — it involves traveling through Hernand-related regions and assisting local NPCs. Completing the second stage, Unauthorized Access, also rewards you with the Sotdae of Bond for taming birds, so this quest is worth doing regardless.
  • Once finished, Pororin remains permanently accessible with a fast travel point.

For a full walkthrough of the quest, see our guide on the Unreachable Village quest.

Step 2 — Find Lacey in Pororin

This is where most players get stuck. Lacey is a roaming vendor — she does not stand behind a fixed stall or show up on the minimap as a clear merchant marker. She walks a patrol loop around the village roads and can be easy to walk right past.

How to identify her:

  • Lacey is a Shai NPC — small in stature compared to most characters.
  • She wears a pale green hood and carries a large oversized backpack. The backpack is the easiest feature to spot from a distance.
  • She is marked with ??? rather than a named merchant tag until you interact with her.
  • She is most commonly found walking the main path near the big tree in the center of Pororin / Florindale, especially around 10am in-game time.
  • She also patrols the path out of Florindale toward the Petalton Workshop area.

The fastest strategy: fast travel directly into Pororin (spawning near the entrance puts you close to her most common patrol route), then jog the perimeter road that loops through the village slowly. Scan for the large backpack silhouette. She sticks to the stone paths — do not search in buildings or off-road areas.

Note: There is another secret vendor in Pororin — an older man with a backpack — who does not sell pet items. If the NPC you approach has no pet-related stock, keep moving. Also note that Lacey also sells the Sigil of Bonding (for cats) and Palmar Pills alongside the Sigil of Valor, so make sure you select the correct item from her inventory.

Step 3 — Purchase the Sigil of Valor

Interact with Lacey to open her Secret Shop interface and purchase the Sigil of Valor. She typically stocks multiple copies per cycle. If you want one for multiple dog pets or want a backup, buy extra while you are there. If she is out of stock, advance the in-game clock by sleeping or waiting, then return.

How to Equip the Sigil of Valor on Your Dog

Once you have the Sigil of Valor in your inventory, follow these steps to equip it:

  1. Open your inventory.
  2. Navigate to the Pets tab.
  3. Summon your dog from the pet menu — the Sigil can only be equipped while the dog is active and summoned.
  4. Select your dog and find the pet accessory slot (also called the collar slot) in its equipment panel.
  5. Slot the Sigil of Valor into the accessory slot.
  6. Close the menu and draw your weapon near an enemy.

Your dog will immediately run toward enemies and begin attacking them. The behavior is automatic — you do not need to issue any special command. As long as the Sigil is equipped and the dog is summoned, it will fight alongside you during every combat encounter. Which Dogs Work Best with the Sigil of Valor?

Any tamed dog can use the Sigil of Valor. Dog breeds available in Crimson Desert include huskies, Jindo dogs, Shiba Inus, greyhounds, boarhounds, and Dalmatians. The attack behavior is the same across all dog types — breed does not change combat effectiveness. If you do not yet have a dog, reliable spawn areas include the Hunter’s Cabin route and Began Village near Pailune.

What About Cats and Birds — Can They Attack Too?

Not with the Sigil of Valor. Cats and birds have their own exclusive accessories that change their behavior in different ways:

  • Cats — Use the Sigil of Bonding, also sold by Lacey, which lets your cat ride on your shoulder even during combat. See our guide on how to make cats sit on your shoulder.
  • Birds — Use the Sotdae of Bond for taming, which is a different item entirely. Bird pets follow you and provide their own passive benefits.

The Sigil of Valor is currently the only accessory in the game that enables pet combat, and it is exclusive to dogs.
