The Legendary Phoenix in Crimson Desert is one of the rarest and most impressive pets in the game — a massive, flame-coloured bird that follows you everywhere, even while riding a mount. Unlike most pets, you do not tame it through trust and feeding. Instead, you have to hunt it down, shoot it out of the sky, skin it for a feather, and craft a special item at a Witch. What Is the Legendary Phoenix?

The Legendary Phoenix is a massive orange and red bird that flies across the Crimson Desert region. It was introduced in Patch 1.04 alongside several other new bird pets, but it works completely differently from the rest. While standard birds are tamed using the Sotdae of Bond item — essentially a bird feeder — the Phoenix cannot be tamed that way. You have to hunt and kill it first.

Once unlocked, the Phoenix follows you as a companion during exploration and combat. It automatically picks up loot from defeated enemies, and uniquely, it stays with you even when you are riding a horse or other mount. It also hovers nearby during fights and can help distract smaller enemies.

What You Need Before Hunting the Phoenix

Before heading out, make sure you have the following:

A Bow — the Phoenix flies at altitude, so melee and most standard weapons cannot reach it
Explosive Arrows — these deal enough damage to bring the Phoenix down reliably. Buy at least two from the Back Alley Trader in Tommaso, which is on the route to the Phoenix’s location

Where to Find the Legendary Phoenix

The Legendary Phoenix is located in the northern Crimson Desert region, specifically south of the Trader’s Expanse. On the in-game map, look for it north of the “S” in “Crimson”, east of the Oasis Hearth. There is an Abyss Nexus located east of the Merchant’s Resting Place nearby, which is useful for reloading the area if needed.

The Phoenix does not patrol a fixed route like other legendary animals. Instead, it circles a wide area. However, it always passes through the centre of the small oasis in this area approximately every 7 to 8 minutes. The best strategy is to:

Locate the small oasis in the northern Crimson Desert
Climb on top of one of the tall rocks or stone pillars nearby for height and visibility
Scan the sky and wait for the Phoenix to pass through

The Phoenix is hard to miss once you know what to look for. It is a large, bright orange bird with a distinctive golden glow, and it flies with a small group of smaller birds on either side. Hunt during the daytime — the Phoenix is difficult to spot against a dark night sky.

If the Phoenix does not appear after a couple of minutes of waiting, fast travel to the nearby Abyss Nexus to reload the area, then return and wait again.

How to Kill the Legendary Phoenix

The Phoenix can be tricky to kill. In some cases players have found it nearly immortal, while others have dropped it in a single shot. The key is using the right combination of weapon and skill:

Recommended Method — One-Shot Kill

Equip your Bow and load Explosive Arrows
Imbue your bow with Fire Element Lv 1
Wait on your elevated rock until the Phoenix comes into range above you
Use Charged Shot with the Explosive Arrows aimed at the Phoenix
Fire when it is directly overhead — the Fire-charged Explosive Arrow should drop it instantly

If it does not fall on the first hit, fire a second Explosive Arrow immediately before it can recover. The Phoenix needs to receive enough damage in a short window to prevent it from reviving. What If the Phoenix Seems Immortal?

The Phoenix has a revival mechanic. If you do not deal enough damage quickly enough, it will recover and take flight again. This is why Explosive Arrows with a Fire element charge are so important — they deliver a large burst of damage in a single hit. If the Phoenix keeps reviving, try:

Using a higher-damage bow or upgrading your bow before the hunt
Combining multiple Explosive Arrow hits in rapid succession

How to Craft the Sigil of Solidarity

At the Witch, follow these steps:

Interact with the Witch and select Craft Abyss Gear
Press RT / R2 to navigate across to the Special Items tab
Select Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix)
Craft it using your Phoenix Feather

The Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix) is now in your inventory.

How to Unlock and Summon the Phoenix as a Pet

Open your Inventory and navigate to the Treasure / Currency tab (also called Key Items). Find the Sigil of Solidarity (Phoenix) and select Use. This permanently registers the Phoenix in your pet collection.

To summon it:

Open your Inventory and press R2 / RT to go to the Pets tab
Find the Phoenix in your registered pet list
Select it and press the summon button

If the summon option appears greyed out or does not respond, unsummon your currently active pet first by pressing A, then try summoning the Phoenix again.

The Phoenix will now follow you during all exploration and combat — including while you are riding a horse or other mount.
