TL;DR
- The White Bear is a legendary mount added in patch 1.01.00 — one of five new permanent mounts
- Location: Five-Finger Mountain in the far northwest of Pailune, just south of the White Wastes Sanctuary
- No quest prerequisites required — just reach the area and kill it
- The White Bear is weak to fire — use fire arrows or fire-imbued weapons to stun it and deal free damage
- Avoid its grab attack and keep it away from cliff edges during the fight
- Skin the bear after killing it to receive the White Bear Claws (and the White Bear Helm as a bonus drop)
- Take the White Bear Claws to any Witch and craft the Sigil of Solidarity (White Bear) under Craft Abyss Gear → Special Items
- You must reach Chapter 5 and complete the Guest Unbidden: Black and White quest before the crafting option appears
- Use the Sigil from your inventory, then select the White Bear via the mount wheel (D-pad Down, Right Stick, R2 to cycle)
- Stats: 1,560 HP, 180 Attack Power — the highest base damage of any mount in the game
- Attacks on mount: R2 for a single swipe, R1+R2 for a multi-swipe combo; cannot level up like a horse
Your horse is fine. But the White Bear is a polar bear that mauls bandits while you ride it. That is a meaningful upgrade.
This legendary mount was added to Crimson Desert in patch 1.01.00 alongside four other new permanent mounts. Of the three creature-type legendaries — White Bear, Silver Fang, and Snowwhite Deer — the White Bear is the most straightforward to get and hits the hardest once you have it. Here is every step from finding it in the mountains to summoning it as a permanent companion.
What Is the White Bear Legendary Mount?
The White Bear is a battle mount, not just a travel companion. Once unlocked, it fights alongside you and attacks enemies both while you are riding it and when you dismount and engage on foot. Its base stats are 1,560 HP and 180 Attack Power — the highest attack damage of any mount currently in the game.
It cannot level up the way horses can, so the stats you get are the permanent stats. The tradeoff for that raw power is speed — it moves slower than a horse or the Silver Fang wolf. The best way to think of it is a frontline fighter that you bring to difficult camps and boss-heavy areas, rather than a travel mount for crossing the map.
On mount, R2 performs a single claw swipe at enemies. R1+R2 chains into a multi-swipe combo. Both are genuinely effective for clearing groups of weaker enemies while staying mounted.
Skinning the bear after you kill it also drops the White Bear Helm as a bonus item, which functions as a bear disguise — similar in concept to the Reindeer Cloak deer disguise. It reduces hostile reactions from other bears when worn.
Prerequisites: What You Need Before Starting
To find and kill the White Bear: No quest prerequisites. You just need to physically reach Five-Finger Mountain in northwest Pailune. If you can get there, the bear is there.
To craft the mount Sigil: You need to have reached Chapter 5 and completed the quest called Guest Unbidden: Black and White. This unlocks Elowen at the Witch’s House in The Witchwood and activates the Craft Abyss Gear option that contains the Sigil recipe. Without this quest completed, the crafting tab simply will not appear.
This means you can technically kill the White Bear and collect its claws before Chapter 5, then hold onto them until you unlock the crafting system. The claws will be waiting in your inventory.
If you killed the White Bear before patch 1.01.00 launched, check the Extra Rewards List in your inventory — the White Bear Claws should have been added retroactively.

White Bear Location — Five-Finger Mountain, Pailune
The White Bear lives in the far northwest corner of Pailune, in the snowy peaks of Five-Finger Mountain.

How to get there:
Open your map and find the label “Silver Wolf Mountain.” Look at the letter “S” in that label. Head west from that S into the jagged mountain peaks. This sub-region is Five-Finger Mountain — the furthest north habitable point of the map.
The fastest route is through the White Wastes Sanctuary, which has an Abyss Nexus fast travel point directly on site. Once you have activated that nexus, you can fast travel here on return trips. From the Sanctuary, head south a short distance along the cliffsides and you will spot the White Bear resting on the mountain with its cubs nearby.
The area is also close to where you go to collect the Darkbringer sword, so if you have already done that, you know roughly where to look. See our Darkbringer Sword guide for reference.
Tip: If you have previously defeated the legendary wolf Black Fang and used Leebur’s Soul from that fight, all legendary animal locations get marked on your map automatically. This makes tracking down the White Bear trivial. For help with Black Fang, see our legendary wolf Black Fang guide.

How to Beat the White Bear
The White Bear is an aggressive creature. The moment it detects your presence, it charges. Before engaging, pull it away from the cliff edge. Getting knocked off the mountain by a bear swipe is a frustrating death that has nothing to do with the bear’s actual difficulty — just pull it onto flat ground first.
Fire is your best friend here. The White Bear has a significant weakness to fire damage. Fire arrows, fire-imbued weapons, and fire oils all trigger a stun that sends the bear rolling on the ground trying to put out the flames. While it is in this stun state, you can attack freely with no retaliation. A few fire arrow hits followed by heavy combos during the stun window will take the bear down much faster than fighting it straight.
Without fire, the fight is still manageable — just longer. The White Bear has high HP but its attack patterns are readable. Its attacks to watch for:
- Wide claw swipes — dodge sideways to avoid. Do not dodge backward; the swipe arc covers more ground than it looks.
- Grab attack — the most dangerous move. If it pins you, it deals heavy damage and removes your ability to respond. Dodge aggressively when you see it wind up for this.
- Charge — bait it into a mountain wall or rock to interrupt the charge and create an opening.
Bring food and healing items. Our best healing food guide covers the best options to cook before heading into this fight.
Once the bear is dead, press the skinning prompt on the body. Do not skip this step. If you kill the bear and walk away without skinning it, you will not receive the White Bear Claws. Skinning is what gives you both the claws and the mount-unlock knowledge entry — both are required to craft the Sigil.
How to Craft the Sigil of Solidarity (White Bear)
With White Bear Claws in hand, make your way to any Witch. The most accessible option is Elowen, found at the Witch’s House in The Witchwood, southwest of Hernand City.
Steps to craft:
- Speak to Elowen (or any other Witch with Abyss Gear crafting capability)
- Select Craft Abyss Gear
- Navigate to the Special Items tab at the far end of the menu
- Find and select Sigil of Solidarity (White Bear)
- Confirm the craft
The Sigil is now in your inventory. Open your inventory, select it, and press Use. This permanently registers the White Bear as a mount in your collection.

How to Summon the White Bear
The White Bear does not appear in the stable. It is accessed through the mount wheel, the same radial menu you use to switch between multiple horses.

On Console: Hold D-pad Down to open the Character Wheel. Use the Right Stick to highlight the horse slot, then press R2 to cycle through your available mounts until the White Bear is selected. Release to confirm.
On PC: Press F1 to open the mount selection, then cycle to the White Bear.
Once selected, use your standard Call Mount button to summon it. From that point forward, you can switch between your horse and the White Bear any time you want.

White Bear vs. Other Legendary Mounts
If you are deciding which legendary mount to go after first, here is a quick picture:
White Bear — Easiest to obtain, no quest gates for the fight itself. Highest base attack damage. Best for combat-focused play and clearing enemy camps. Slower movement than horse or wolf.
Silver Fang (wolf) — Higher combat speed, strong damage output. Requires completing the Legendary Wolf faction quest chain before it spawns, which takes more setup. See our Silver Fang and legendary animal locations guide for more.
Snowwhite Deer — Does not fight back, which means you chase it rather than fight it. Good speed for traversal, especially in Pailune’s terrain. Useful as a paired mount with the White Bear — bring the bear for combat zones, switch to the deer for fast cross-map travel.
