The Enhanced Kuku Cooler in Crimson Desert is one of the best quality-of-life upgrades in the game. It is a food storage chest you place in your house at Howling Hill, and it lets you store up to 330 slots of food and ingredients — with the potential to expand further. Items stored inside can be used for cooking without ever needing to move them into your inventory. What Is the Enhanced Kuku Cooler?

The Kuku Cooler is a dedicated food storage chest introduced in Patch 1.04. It sits in your house at Howling Hill and holds all your cooking ingredients and meals, freeing up your inventory completely. The key benefit is that food stored inside counts as available for cooking — you never have to take items out first.

The basic Kuku Cooler holds 50 slots. The Enhanced version bumps that to 330 slots, with the possibility of expanding further as you progress. If you cook frequently or gather a lot of ingredients, this upgrade makes a big difference.

Both versions are unlocked through the Invention of the Workshop side quest chain in the Hernand Requests category. You must complete the basic version first before you can craft the enhanced one.

Step 1 — Start the A Special Blueprint Quest

Before anything else, you need to unlock the Kuku Cooler blueprint. This becomes available after Chapter 4, once you have completed the Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop quest. If you have not done that yet, see our Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop quest guide.

Once eligible, head to Bloomwood Ranch, located northeast of Howling Hill in Hernand. Talk to the soldiers outside the ranch to pick up the A Special Blueprint Hernand Request quest.

Step 2 — Visit the Kilnden Workshop and Get the Blueprint

From Bloomwood Ranch, head northeast to the Kilnden Workshop. Speak to the artisan outside the small house. They will hand you:

A Kuku Pot (you will need this in your inventory when farming Electrical Components later)
The Kuku Cooler Blueprint

Make sure you read the blueprint to register the recipe. Skipping this step means the recipe will not appear in Grimnir’s crafting menu.

Step 3 — Gather Materials for the Basic Kuku Cooler

The basic Kuku Cooler requires three materials, all of which are relatively easy to find in Hernand:

5x Iron Ore
3x Copper Ore
1x Azurite

A good early route is the river east of Hernand, where Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and Azurite can all be found in the same area. Alternatively, these ores can be purchased from the mineral vendor nearby. Step 4 — Craft the Basic Kuku Cooler

With your materials ready, speak to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop and open his crafting menu. Select the Kuku Cooler and craft it. The item is added to your inventory immediately.

Head back to your Hernand Residence — the house just to the east of Howling Hill, which unlocks in Chapter 3. Press Options / Start to enter build mode, then press Square / X to access your placeable items. Place the Kuku Cooler wherever you like, then exit build mode. You can now put food and ingredients inside it.

Step 5 — Get the Enhanced Kuku Cooler Blueprint

After crafting the basic Kuku Cooler, return to the Kilnden Workshop and speak to the artisan again. This completes the Mysterious Cooler quest and rewards you with the Enhanced Kuku Cooler Blueprint.

Again, read the blueprint from your inventory to register the enhanced recipe with Grimnir before continuing.

Enhanced Kuku Cooler — All Required Materials

The Enhanced Kuku Cooler is a late-game craft. Do not rush it if you are still in the early chapters — several of the materials require significant story progression to access. Here is what you need:

1x Kuku Cooler (the basic version you already crafted)
3x Brimstone
3x Mercury
3x Rubber
2x Electrical Components

How to Get Brimstone

Head to the Deadfire Mountains in northern Demeniss. Go down into the mountain’s crater, known as Brimstone Springs. You will find gaseous Brimstone deposits here, as well as a Hexe Brimstoneback Crab.

Kill the crab first — it typically drops 2 to 3 Brimstone per kill. You can also gather Brimstone directly from the gaseous deposits in the crater. How to Get Mercury

How to Get Rubber

Rubber is one of the more time-consuming materials because of how it is harvested. Here is the process:

Travel to the southern rainforests of the Crimson Desert region — accessible from Chapter 9 onwards, once you have access to the Crimson Desert area of the map
Locate the Rubber Trees in that stretch of rainforest — look for trees east of Beardtree Gorge
Use Healing Force Palm to seal the discoloured cuts on the tree trunk — sealed cuts glow orange with sparking effects
You must seal every cut on the tree, or the rubber will not form correctly. Missing even one resets the process
Wait six in-game days for the Rubber to form
Return to the tree and harvest the Rubber

This process needs to be repeated across multiple trees if you need all three Rubber. Plan ahead and start this step early, as the six-day wait is the biggest time gate in the entire Enhanced Kuku Cooler craft. You can speed up the wait by sleeping at a bed or resting at a campfire to advance in-game time.

How to Get Electrical Components

Electrical Components drop from Elite Mechanical enemies in the southeast region of Delesyia. You are specifically looking for large mechas equipped with drills or buzzsaws — Clockwork Beetles and Combat Mechas in this area. The road just south of the Eastern Hills has a reliable concentration of these enemies.

A few important things to know before you farm here:

Electrical Components are not a standard pickup. You must use Axiom Force to grab them and seal them inside your Kuku Pot
Make sure the Kuku Pot is in your inventory before farming — if you arrive without it, the components cannot be collected
Each large mecha has only a chance to drop one component, so plan for several kills to get the two you need
Lightning Element attacks — such as Turning Slash imbued with lightning, or Explosive Arrows — are the most efficient way to take down mechanical enemies quickly

Step 6 — Craft the Enhanced Kuku Cooler

Once you have all five materials, return to Grimnir at the Kilnden Workshop. Open his crafting menu, select Enhanced Kuku Cooler, and confirm. A short cutscene plays, and the chest is added to your inventory.

Head to your Hernand Residence, enter build mode (Options / Start), then press Square / X to access placeable items. Place the Enhanced Kuku Cooler in your house. It replaces or sits alongside your basic Kuku Cooler — the choice is yours.

How to Use the Kuku Cooler

Once placed in your residence, interact with the Kuku Cooler to open it and store food, ingredients, and meals inside. The key feature is that ingredients inside the cooler count as available for cooking — you do not need to remove them and put them in your inventory first. This completely removes the food-inventory management problem that most players encounter in the mid-game.

Note: Place your cooked meals in your inventory, not the cooler, if you want to use them in the field. The cooler is best used for raw ingredients and crafting materials.

Tips for Crafting the Enhanced Kuku Cooler Efficiently

Start the Rubber early — the six in-game day wait is the biggest bottleneck. Seal the rubber trees as soon as you reach the Crimson Desert region in Chapter 9, then do other things while you wait
Bring your Kuku Pot when farming Electrical Components — without it, the drops cannot be picked up at all
Read both blueprints before going to Grimnir — the recipe does not register otherwise
Use Lightning attacks on mechanical enemies in Delesyia for faster kills
You can craft multiple basic Kuku Coolers if you want additional food storage before you are ready for the enhanced version
