TL;DR
- This is the 48th main mission in Crimson Desert — part of Chapter 4 (The Price of Knowledge), Sub-Chapter: Mysterious Iron Pot

Overview
The Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop is the 48th main mission in Crimson Desert. It falls under Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge, in the Mysterious Iron Pot sub-chapter.
The quest begins right after you complete the Kilnden Workshop mission (Mission 47). After speaking with Grimnir and learning that the kiln exploded, it’s your job to get everything working again.
You’ll need to:
- Activate the ancient generator
- Fix the disconnected kiln
- Fix the dismantled kiln
- Put fuel into the third kiln
This is a multi-part puzzle quest. None of the individual tasks are impossible, but each one has a trick or two that can trip you up. This guide will walk you through every step.

How to Get This Quest
Requirement: Complete the previous main quest, Kilnden Workshop (Mission 47).
You’ll get there naturally. After establishing your Greymane camp and finishing Chapter 3, an explosion in the distance pulls Kliff toward the Kilnden Workshop in the Hernand region. Talk to Grimnir — the dwarf in the distinctive helmet — and the quest triggers automatically.
Step 1: Activate the Ancient Generator
This is the first task, and it’s the trickiest part of the entire quest.

The ancient generator is a large tower with four rotating rings. Each ring has a symbol on it. Your goal is to align the same triangular symbol across all four rings — so the symbols form a straight vertical line from top to bottom.
Here’s how to do it:
Good news first: The top and bottom rings are already aligned when you arrive. You only need to fix the two middle rings.

How the controls work:
- There is a switch near the pressure gauge at the base of the tower. Interacting with it cycles between the three moveable rings (the bottom ring is fixed and always lit).
- There is a crank (wooden lever) that rotates whichever ring is currently selected.
Steps:
- Look at the tower. The bottom symbol and top symbol are already in the correct position.
- Interact with the switch to select the second ring from the top (middle-upper).
- Use the crank to rotate it until the triangular symbol lines up.
- Interact with the switch again to move to the next ring.
- Use the crank to align that ring too.
- Once all four symbols are aligned, the generator activates.
A short cutscene plays. After that, Grimnir gives you three new objectives — one for each kiln. All three kiln locations are marked on your map, so you won’t have trouble finding them.
Step 2: Fix the Disconnected Kiln
This is the easiest of the three kilns. It’s located to the southeast of the generator.

Steps:
- Approach the kiln. Raise your torch if needed — you’re looking for a broken cable connection.
- Follow the pipe along the ground away from the kiln until you find the disconnected end.
- Walk up to the cable connection and hold X (PS5) / A (Xbox) to reconnect it.
- Return to the front of the kiln and push the crank all the way to the left until it locks.
- The kiln powers on. Done.
That’s it. Simple reconnect-and-activate. Move on to the harder ones.
Step 3: Fix the Dismantled Kiln
This one requires two abilities: Axiom Force (hold L3) and Aerial Force Palm (jump + R3 in midair). You’ll also need to do a bit of climbing.

Pro tip: This step is much easier if you have the double-jump skill unlocked. If you don’t have it yet, check out our guide on how to get skill points in Crimson Desert and our picks for best skills to level up first.
You also need the Aerial Force Palm skill. Find it in your skill tree — look in the green area and select the node closest to the center.
The kiln has two broken pieces. Both are nearby.
Piece 1: To the right of the kiln, near some NPCs. It’s the rough-edged, jagged piece. Use Axiom Force to lift it and carry it over the top of the kiln. The game’s auto-alignment system will help rotate it into place as you lower it down. Let go — it will float just above the kiln.
Piece 2: Located behind the kiln, near the cliff. It’s the chimney piece with a flat top. Lift it the same way and align it on top of the first piece.
Joining the pieces:
Once both pieces are stacked on the kiln, climb to the top. Jump into the air and press R3 (Force Palm) while looking down. This slams the pieces together. The cracks will disappear when done correctly.
If the pieces don’t fuse, check your alignment. They don’t need to be pixel-perfect, but they need to be reasonably lined up.
After the pieces are joined, use the crank at the base to activate the kiln.
Step 4: Put Fuel Into the Kiln (All 5 Fuel Orb Locations)
The third kiln needs fuel — five glowing orbs (also called power cores or fuel balls) scattered around the area. They appear as white circles on your mini-map, so open it and zoom in to spot all five.

Use Axiom Force (L3) to pick them up and carry them back to the kiln. Place each one into the open sockets around the kiln’s base.
Here are all five locations:
Fuel Orb 1 & 2: Right next to the kiln. Easy to spot — they’re sitting beside the clay jars directly in front.
Fuel Orb 3: Head into the flooded area near the kiln. Walk toward the water. The third orb is down by the water’s edge, still close to the kiln.
Fuel Orb 4: This is the tricky one. There’s a large bird-shaped statue in the pond. The fuel orb is sitting inside the statue’s eye socket — it looks like a glowing eye. Stand to the side of the statue, aim your Axiom Force at the eye, and hold the pull button to yank it out. If it won’t come out from one angle, try the other side of the statue.
Fuel Orb 5: Walk along the shore of the pond to the left of the bird statues. Follow the reeds until you see a small cave entrance. The final orb is on the ground just inside or right at the mouth of that cave.
Bug Warning: The fifth fuel orb sometimes doesn’t spawn at the cave entrance. This is a known issue. If it’s missing, reload your save. If it still doesn’t appear, reload an older autosave from the end of the previous quest and replay from there.
Once all five orbs are inserted, push the crank on the side of the kiln to activate it.
Step 5: Talk to Grimnir and Finish the Quest
With all three kilns repaired and the generator running, head back to Grimnir at the ancient generator.
Speak with him to complete the Kiln Repair at the Kilnden Workshop quest. He’ll tell you he’ll craft you a Kuku Pot.
When the game prompts you to “wait for the right time,” hold the Menu / Start button to pass time. Then talk to Grimnir again — he’ll tell you to retrieve the pot from below.
This ends the Kiln Repair quest and starts the next mission: The Mysterious Pot.
Quick Tips
- If any puzzle doesn’t respond after you’ve done it correctly, reload the game. Several parts of this quest are known to bug out.
- The Aerial Force Palm skill is easy to miss. Check the green section of your skill tree — it’s near the center node.
- The double-jump skill makes the dismantled kiln step far less frustrating. It lets you get better height for the Force Palm.
- All kiln and fuel locations are marked on your map. Use it — don’t wander blind.
- The disconnected kiln is to the southeast. The dismantled kiln is to the south. The fuel kiln is nearby the flooding — keep that in mind when navigating.
