The Jindo is Crimson Desert’s Shiba Inu-style dog. It looks almost identical to the real-world breed — same fox-like face, pointed ears, and curled tail. It comes in three coat colors and can be found right in Hernand Town, making it one of the earliest pets you can get in the game. What Is the Jindo in Crimson Desert
The Jindo is a dog breed in Crimson Desert that is widely recognized as the game’s version of the Shiba Inu. The in-game description calls it a breed known for fierce loyalty and high intelligence. It has a compact build, an alert expression, and looks nearly identical to a real Shiba Inu. It is one of ten dog breeds found across Pywel and one of the most sought-after pets due to its appearance.
Like all pets in the game, the Jindo acts as a companion that automatically loots enemy corpses after fights. It does not attack enemies. Its only job is to pick up dropped items so you do not have to. All pets function the same way for looting — the choice is purely about looks. Crimson Desert Jindo Location
The Jindo spawns in Hernand Town. There are two main spots to check.
Spawn Point 1 — Large Tree in Hernand Town Park
The most reliable spot is near the large tree in the park area of Hernand Town. This is just south of the “D” in “Hernand” on the map. The Jindo tends to wander around this area and is often visible from the road.
Spawn Point 2 — Tannery and Stables
The second spot is at the Tannery and Stables just outside Hernand Town. This location can also spawn Jindo alongside other dog breeds. If the park area is empty, check here next.
Other Hernand Spots
Players have also found Jindo near the Hernand Bank area (east side), the main square, near the tavern, and along the roads north of the city. Spawns are not fixed to one exact tile — the dog wanders within its general zone. Hernand has 19 pet spawn points in total, so it is the best area in the game to look for early pets.
What to Do If Jindo Is Not There
Pet spawns in Crimson Desert are randomized. If Jindo is not at the usual spots, fast travel to the Abyss Nexus. This forces the area to reload and respawn all animals. After a few attempts you should find one of the three coat variants. Do not stay in the area and wait — the fast travel method is faster and more reliable.
All Jindo Variants (Coat Colors)
There are three Jindo variants in Crimson Desert. Each has a random chance to appear at either spawn point in Hernand Town.
- White Jindo — White or cream-colored coat.
- Black Jindo — Dark coat with typical Jindo markings.
- Brown Jindo — A warm brown color, closest to the classic Shiba Inu look.
There is also a variant simply called “White Dog” — this is technically a white Jindo but with a different name. This variant has a different favorite food (more on that below). All three standard variants use Sweet Potato as their preferred food.
Jindo Favorite Food and How to Feed It
The Jindo’s favorite food is Sweet Potato. Feeding it Sweet Potato gives +35 Trust per feeding — the highest Trust gain available from food. You can buy Sweet Potatoes from the Grocer Shop in Hernand Town and from grocers in other towns across the map.
If you run out of Sweet Potatoes, you can use Small Bones or Large Bones as a substitute. These give +25 Trust each and are easy to get from enemies or vendors.
The White Dog variant (the differently named white Jindo) prefers Tender Meat instead of Sweet Potato. Tender Meat can be bought from the Butcher in Hernand Town.
How Feeding Works
The feeding system in Crimson Desert is physical. You do not open a menu to feed the dog. Instead, open your inventory and drop the food item on the ground directly in front of the Jindo. The dog will walk to it and eat it. The Trust meter increases after it eats.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Drop one food item at a time. Do not throw everything down at once expecting all of it to count.
- Make sure no other dogs are nearby when you drop food. Other animals can eat it before the Jindo gets there.
- You can feed a pet up to three times per in-game day. The limit resets at midnight in-game time.
- You can advance time quickly by sleeping in a bed or using a cooking pot.
How to Tame the Jindo Fast
You need 100 Trust to adopt the Jindo as your permanent pet. Here is the fastest method.
Step 1 — Pet the Jindo
Walk up to the Jindo and interact with it to pet it. Petting gives +5 Trust per pet. You can pet it up to five times per in-game day for a total of +25 Trust from petting alone.
Step 2 — Feed It Sweet Potatoes
Drop Sweet Potatoes in front of it. Three feedings at +35 each gives you +105 Trust from food. Combined with five pets (+25), you can reach 100 Trust in a single in-game day if you do all interactions in one visit.
Step 3 — Adopt It
Once the Trust meter hits 100, a prompt appears. Press Square (PS) or X (Xbox) to take in the dog and register it as your pet. It is then saved to your collection. You can summon it any time from the radial menu.
If you have already started building Trust with a specific Jindo, you need to return to the same dog at its spawn point. Trust is linked to the individual animal, not the breed.
What Does the Jindo Do as a Pet
Once adopted, the Jindo follows you through the world of Pywel and automatically picks up loot from enemies you defeat. It runs around the battlefield after fights and collects dropped items into its own inventory tab. You can retrieve these items at any time.
There is no loot filter — the Jindo picks up everything, including low-value items. It is a good idea to increase your inventory space before relying heavily on auto-loot. You can store up to 30 pets total but only one can be active at a time.

Jindo vs Other Dog Breeds
The Jindo is one of the best early pets to go for because it spawns in Hernand Town from Chapter 1 and its favorite food is cheap and easy to buy. It is a step up in looks from the Beagle (which is the easiest dog to find at the Hernand Constabulary) while still being simple to tame.
