MW4 DMZ Reactor DRC Locker Key

The Reactor DRC Locker Key is one of the best loot keys in MW4 DMZ. Use it right and you’ll crack open an Elite Weapons Locker sitting underwater inside a radioactive reactor — and walk away with a guaranteed Ultra-rarity weapon.

The tricky part? Getting the key, surviving the radiation, and actually finding the locker at the bottom of the pool. This guide covers all of it.

    • TL;DR
    • Complete Operation Fallen Ember to earn the Reactor DRC Locker Key.
    • The locker is inside Reactor 02’s irradiated pool at Haneul Nuclear Reactor, grid H4.
    • The key is Ultra rarity and a one-time consumable.
    • You need a Gas Mask and Radiation Blockers — do not go without them.
    • The locker opens into an Elite Weapons Locker with a guaranteed Ultra-rarity item.
    • Store the key in a Secure Slot before deploying so you keep it if you die.

What Is the Reactor DRC Locker Key in MW4 DMZ?

The Reactor DRC Locker Key is an Ultra-rarity key that opens the DRC Weapons Locker inside Reactor 02’s irradiated pool at Haneul Nuclear Reactor. The locker is underwater, submerged in a flooded, radioactive environment — so just getting to it takes some preparation.

Like all loot keys in DMZ, it’s a one-time consumable. Once you use it, it’s gone. But the reward is worth it: an Elite Weapons Locker with a guaranteed Ultra-rarity item inside, along with randomized additional loot.

One confirmed example from an early access run: an ISO Nightshade Ultra SMG valued at $9,100. The item is random each run, but the Ultra rarity is guaranteed.

How to Get the Reactor DRC Locker Key

The Reactor DRC Locker Key is a reward for completing Operation Fallen Ember, the final Tier 3 Story Mission in MW4 DMZ. It is also reported to drop as random loot, but the most reliable method is completing the mission.

Along with the key, Operation Fallen Ember rewards you with:

    • The Cargo Plane infil vehicle unlock
    • 25,000 DMZ Cash
    • 12,500 XP

The Cargo Plane is the standout unlock — it lets you parachute into any exact spot on the map. Story Missions are repeatable, so you can farm the key on every run. See the full MW4 DMZ Story Missions and Rewards guide for a complete list of what every mission pays out.

How to Unlock Operation Fallen Ember

Fallen Ember is a Tier 3 mission — the final one. You need to finish all five missions before it:

    • Tier 1: Operation Critical Extraction, Operation Silent Ledger, Operation Shopping Hacks
    • Tier 2: Operation Iron Citadel, Operation Grid Assault

Complete all five and Fallen Ember unlocks at the FOB Mission Board.

Operation Fallen Ember: What to Expect

This mission is rated Extreme threat and takes place entirely at Haneul Nuclear Reactor in the far northeast of Hajin. The whole area is irradiated. If you go in without radiation protection, the environment will kill you before the enemies do.

Recommended gear: 3-Plate Armor Vest, Medkit, Gas Mask, Radiation Blockers.

    The objective chain, in order:

    • Reach the Reactor and breach it.
    • Unlock Reactor 01 from the damaged dome roof.
    • Withdraw three fuel rods from the flooded reactor pool — each requires you to match a grid code from a console to the correct rod.
    • Decontaminate all three rods inside Reactor 02 using the processing station.
    • Secure the warhead in the reactor yard and eliminate enemy reinforcements, including a Colossus boss.
    • Loot the Boathouse Key from the boss, then escape by boat.

When you exfil successfully, the Reactor DRC Locker Key is yours. Bring your best Operator Traits and go in with a full squad if possible — this mission is brutal solo.

Reactor DRC Locker Location in MW4 DMZ

The locker is inside Reactor 02 at the Haneul Nuclear Reactor, in the far northeast region of Hajin. On the Tac-Map, look at grid H4. The reactor coordinates are approximately x: 2851, y: 1887.

You won’t find this one by just walking through a door. The locker is underwater at the bottom of Reactor 02’s irradiated pool. It’s dark down there, so you’ll need to swim for it — but once you’re close enough, the locker will highlight red to help you spot it.

Step-by-Step Route to the Reactor DRC Locker

    • Head to Haneul Nuclear Reactor in the northeast.
    • Find Reactor 02 — it is the building on the right.
    • Look for the stairs leading up to the reactor’s collapsed roof and climb them.
    • Take the ladder up to the top of the building.
    • Navigate down the debris to reach the bottom of the reactor. Watch the fall — it can hurt.
    • At the bottom, swim west into the flooded pool area.
    • The DRC Locker is in the west area of the water. It is dark, but it will highlight red when you’re close.
    • Interact with it and use the Reactor DRC Locker Key when prompted.

The prompt on screen reads: REACTOR DRC LOCKER – UNLOCK. Hit that and the Elite Weapons Locker opens up.

What’s Inside the Reactor DRC Locker

Once open, the locker becomes an Elite Weapons Locker. You are guaranteed at least one Ultra-rarity item, though the specific weapon or item is random each run. Additional loot inside the locker is also random.

One confirmed drop from an early access run was an ISO Nightshade Ultra SMG worth $9,100. Ultra weapons are the highest tier in DMZ — these are weapons you either use on your current run or carry out to your stash for future deployments.

Want more ways to find top-tier weapons? Check out the MW4 DMZ All Boss Locations guide — bosses drop rare and Legendary loot too, and some are nearby at the nuclear reactor.

What You Need Before Going to the Reactor

    Radiation Protection Is Not Optional

The Haneul Nuclear Reactor is a permanently irradiated zone. The SK Radiation Alert System will warn you as you approach: “Danger: Lethal radiation levels detected.” Without the right gear, you will take constant radiation damage and die before reaching the locker.

    You need both of these:

    • Gas Mask — required to survive inside the reactor.
    • Radiation Blockers or Radiation Gear — found in lockers and bags around the reactor, or at Fire Stations (the red buildings on the map).

If you don’t have Radiation Gear when you deploy, loot the area around the reactor exterior before going in. It turns up in containers nearby.

Store the Key in a Secure Slot

This is an Ultra-rarity key. If you’re killed anywhere on the way to the locker and it’s not in a Secure Slot, it’s gone. Put it in your Rare Backpack’s Secure Slot before you even deploy. It’s the only safe way to carry it through a High threat zone like the reactor.

For more on how keys and loot work across the map, the MW4 DMZ Weapon Manuals guide is worth reading — Weapon Manuals are some of the most valuable items you can extract.

    The Area Threat Level

Haneul Nuclear Reactor is rated High threat by Activision — which is a step below the Extreme rating the mission itself carries. Expect heavy AI resistance and other squads. Everyone knows the reactor has good loot, so move efficiently once you’re inside.

Quick Tips for Running the Reactor DRC Locker

    • Bring a full squad if you can. The reactor is tough solo and Extreme-rated during Fallen Ember.
    • Get Radiation Gear from Fire Stations before deploying if you don’t already have it.
    • The locker is underwater and dark — look for the red highlight as you swim west in the pool.
    • Plan your exfil route before going in. Radiation spreads during the match and can block exfil points.
    • Use your DMZ Prestige unlocks and FOB Station upgrades to prepare better gear before each run.
    • The Reactor DRC Locker is in the same building where you decontaminate fuel rods during Fallen Ember — so if you time it right during the mission itself, you can hit the locker on the same run.

Is the Reactor DRC Locker Key Worth It?

Yes — a guaranteed Ultra-rarity weapon from an Elite Weapons Locker is one of the best returns on a single key in MW4 DMZ right now. The effort of completing Operation Fallen Ember is significant, but the mission rewards stack: you get the Cargo Plane infil, 25,000 DMZ Cash, 12,500 XP, and the locker key all in one run.

Since the mission is repeatable, you can farm this on a regular cycle and build up your stash with high-end weapons. Just remember — it’s one-use per key. Each bunker run costs another Fallen Ember completion.
