The Palworld Card Game Is Already Planning 2027 and It’s Only Been Out a Month

The Palworld Official Card Game has barely been out for six weeks and Bushiroad is already mapping out 2027. That’s honestly the fastest way to tell you how well this TCG has taken off. Launched on July 30, 2026 in collaboration between Pocketpair and Bushiroad, the card game debuted with the Dawn of Palpagos set and immediately ran into the kind of problem every publisher wants: it sold out everywhere. Fast. Now, with the second set Legends Awaken arriving at the end of October and a third already announced, the Palworld TCG is looking like more than just a novelty expansion of the franchise. It’s building a real roadmap.

The teaser for the third set dropped on the Palworld Official Card Game’s social media accounts on September 11, 2026, confirming both the name and release date in a single post. The set is called Eternal Ascent, and it launches on January 29, 2027. That’s a tight cadence — roughly every three months a new set drops — and it signals that Bushiroad is serious about keeping the game fresh and giving players a steady stream of new cards to collect and build around. Pre-orders for Eternal Ascent booster boxes are already open at local game stores, so if you learned your lesson from the Dawn of Palpagos chaos, now’s the time to lock in your copy early.

What We Know About Eternal Ascent So Far

The teaser post didn’t give a massive amount of detail about what Eternal Ascent will actually contain — Bushiroad confirmed that more information will be shared in the coming weeks. What we do know is the basic product structure, which mirrors the previous sets. Eternal Ascent will feature 100 card types following the standard rarity breakdown of RR, R, U, and C, plus parallel versions for collectors chasing the premium pulls. All four of the game’s colors — Red, Blue, Green, and Purple — will be represented, and Colorless cards that can slot into any deck will also be part of the set.

The expansion is expected to introduce a new wave of Pals to the TCG, spanning a mix of helpful early-game creatures and powerful late-game picks across the four colors. The Palworld franchise has an enormous roster of Pals to pull from, so there’s plenty of material for Bushiroad to work with as the sets continue rolling out. Each booster box contains 12 packs with 7 cards per pack — the same structure as the previous sets — and sealed cases come with 12 booster boxes. Deck construction rules remain the same: build a 50-card deck choosing up to two colors, supplemented by Colorless cards, with a maximum of four copies of any single card name.

Eternal Ascent isn’t coming alone either. Two Trial Decks — Eternal Ascent Red/Green (TD03) and Eternal Ascent Blue/Purple (TD04) — are launching ahead of the main booster on December 18, 2026. Each Trial Deck contains a 60-card set with a 50-card Main Deck and 10-card Soul Deck, plus a paper playmat, play guide, Life Counter, and Material and Ingredient Counter. These are designed as entry points for new players and for existing fans who want to explore a different color pairing before the full booster set drops in January. The December Trial Deck launch essentially gives the Eternal Ascent card pool a soft debut before the main event.

Dawn of Palpagos Sold 4.4 Million Packs — But Launch Was a Mess

To understand why Eternal Ascent’s early announcement and pre-order push matters, you have to look at what happened with Dawn of Palpagos when it launched. The numbers are genuinely impressive — Bushiroad reported 3.5 million packs ordered worldwide before the game even released on July 30. By September 8, that number had climbed to 4.4 million packs sold. The set contained over 100 unique cards with more than 50 Pals featured in all-original illustrations, including fan favorites like Daedream, Chillet, Jormuntide, Zoe, and Lily. It launched simultaneously in English and Japanese worldwide, which added to the demand pressure across multiple markets at once.

The problem was supply couldn’t keep up. Dawn of Palpagos is exclusively a hobby store and local game store product — no Walmart, Target, or GameStop channel exists for it — so when demand exploded, shelves emptied fast and there was nowhere else to turn. Scalpers moved in immediately, with sealed booster boxes that retailed at MSRP quickly climbing to around $175 on eBay, close to triple the original price. Individual cards were selling for thousands on the secondary market. Some printing errors added an extra layer of collector chaos — one card, Ribbuny – Little Princess, had an incorrect Strike frame color and missing Strike text, and the word “Palworld” was misspelled as “Palword” on the fine print of 1st Edition packs and boxes.

Bushiroad officially apologized for the shortages in August and announced a two-pronged response. First, additional first-edition stock was being shipped to stores in September. Second, a 2nd Edition print run of Dawn of Palpagos was confirmed for late October, designed to get more copies into the hands of players who missed out at launch. The 2nd Edition is nearly identical to the original — same card art, same rarities, same gameplay — with the only visual change being a Roman numeral II added next to the copyright in the bottom-right corner of each card. The misspelling on boxes will also be corrected. Collectors chasing 1st Edition copies will still have their version clearly distinguished, while new players and players who were priced out by scalpers finally get a chance to buy in at MSRP.

Legends Awaken Arrives October 30 — Here’s What’s in It

Before Eternal Ascent even arrives, the second set is almost here. Legends Awaken drops on October 30, 2026, and it’s bringing 100 new cards to the game alongside parallel and alternate-art chase versions for collectors. Bushiroad has already started teasing some of the Pals making their card game debut in the expansion, with Chillet Ignis and Jetragon both confirmed as headliners. New versions of Pals already in Dawn of Palpagos are also coming, including Broncherry and Daedream, giving players additional copies and variants to build around.

Legends Awaken was announced during the Bushiroad English Conference Summer 2026 and is clearly positioned as a statement set that proves the Palworld TCG isn’t a flash in the pan. With the game having already moved nearly 4.5 million packs in its first set before Legends Awaken even existed, the second expansion has a lot of momentum behind it. The 2nd Edition Dawn of Palpagos reprint is also landing in late October, meaning players new to the game who want to start from the beginning will have two products available at the same time — the original set’s reprint and the new expansion. That’s a smart way to bring new players in without forcing them to chase expensive secondary market copies of the launch set.

Bushiroad also confirmed a set of official card sleeves releasing on October 16, 2026, featuring artwork of Grizzbolt, Relaxaurus, Petallia, and Shadowbeak — each sold separately alongside the previously delayed Sleeve and Card Set Vol. 1, which is now confirmed for the same October 16 window. Rubber playmats for Shadowbeak and Petallia were also released on September 25. The accessories pipeline is finally catching up to the pace of the card releases.

The Palworld TCG Is Growing Fast — And Eternal Ascent Needs to Deliver on Supply

The Palworld franchise as a whole has had a remarkable year. The main game surpassed 32 million players worldwide across Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 5, and Mac since its Early Access launch in January 2024, and reached its full Version 1.0 launch in July 2026. Pocketpair has been aggressively expanding the IP beyond the base game, with Palworld: Palfarm announced as an upcoming farming simulation spin-off and Palworld Online in development. The trading card game is another major piece of that expansion strategy, and the numbers show it’s working.

The big challenge heading into Eternal Ascent is whether Bushiroad can execute on the supply side what it’s clearly nailing on the product side. Dawn of Palpagos proved the demand is enormous. Legends Awaken will show whether Bushiroad applied lessons from the launch shortages or whether the same scalping chaos repeats itself in October. By January 2027, when Eternal Ascent drops, the game will have been through three full sets and Bushiroad will have had months of real-world supply data to work with. The fact that Eternal Ascent pre-orders are open now at local game stores — with Bushiroad actively encouraging players to lock in booster boxes ahead of time — suggests the publisher is trying to build better demand forecasting into the release process from the start this time.

For players who’ve been holding off on the Palworld TCG because of availability headaches, the window from now through January 2027 is going to be the best time to actually get into the game. The 2nd Edition Dawn of Palpagos gives you the launch set at a fair price. Legends Awaken gives you 100 new cards to work with. And Eternal Ascent gives you a third booster set to pre-order before the scalpers get organized. If you’re a fan of the main game and have been curious about the card side, there has never been a better time to get started. The fall gaming season is absolutely stacked, and the Palworld card game is just one more reason why your wallet is going to suffer until 2027.

If you’re looking to get into a new game entirely while you wait on Eternal Ascent, don’t sleep on Blackwood launching on Steam September 16 or the Agefield High PS5 launch on September 25. There is genuinely a lot going on right now.
