What Is the Tianxiang Pavilion Key in Phantom Blade Zero?
The Tianxiang Pavilion Key is a key item you need to unlock a locked double door in Pangzhen. The door leads into the Tianxiang Pavilion building, where you can find quest items and hidden treasure.
You will spot this locked door early when exploring the area near the Pavilion of Knowledge Crossroads Bell. The game gives you no key at that point. You have to come back later after starting a specific side quest. It’s easy to forget this spot, so mark it on your map when you first find it.
The key is directly connected to The Star Performer side quest. If you haven’t started that quest, the key won’t appear.
Where Is the Tianxiang Pavilion Locked Door?
Head to the Pavilion of Knowledge Crossroads Bell in Pangzhen. From there, go west and you will run into the Cavalrybane boss fight. After defeating Cavalrybane, look around the arena. On the left side, you will see a large double door with a keyhole. That’s the entrance to Tianxiang Pavilion.
You can’t open it yet. The game wants you to find the key first. Just remember this spot and move on through the Pangzhen main story.

How to Get the Tianxiang Pavilion Key in Phantom Blade Zero
Here is the full step-by-step process.
Step 1 – Reach Myst’s Tavern and Trigger The Star Performer Quest
Keep progressing through Pangzhen’s main story. You will eventually be directed to enter Myst’s Tavern, the Order’s underground hub in the region. This is required to move the story forward, so you won’t miss it.
Once the main story cutscenes in the tavern are done, take your time to look around. You will find a group of NPCs gathered inside. Among them is the Leading Opera Actress.
Talk to her. She will introduce herself and explain her problem. Her Dance Fan is locked inside Tianxiang Pavilion and she needs it back. She tells Soul that the doorman has the key, but there’s a way to draw him out. She gives you the Leading Actress’s Rouge and tells you to burn it at the incense censer in the alley near the pavilion.
This starts The Star Performer side quest.
Step 2 – Go to the Alley Near Tianxiang Pavilion
Exit Myst’s Tavern and return to the area near the Tianxiang Pavilion. Look around for an alleyway to the right of where you fought Cavalrybane. The alley is close to the locked door you found earlier.
Inside the alley, you will find an incense censer. Walk up to it and interact with it. Select the option to use the Leading Actress’s Rouge.
Step 3 – Defeat the Ha-Ha Enemies and Get the Key
Using the Rouge will summon a group of Ha-Ha enemies. These are puppet-like masked fighters. There will be several of them at once, so be ready to fight.
Take them all down. One of them will drop the Tianxiang Pavilion Key as loot.
Pick it up from the ground. It is now in your inventory.
Step 4 – Unlock Tianxiang Pavilion
Go back to the locked double door near Cavalrybane’s arena. Interact with it. Soul will automatically use the key and the door will open.
You are now inside Tianxiang Pavilion.
What Is Inside Tianxiang Pavilion?
There’s more than just one quest item in here. Once you’re inside, explore carefully. Head up to the second floor. In the back room, you will find a chest containing the Tiger Paperweight. This is a treasure needed for the Quick Hand’s Request quest from Quick Hand Zhang.
You will also find upgrade materials useful for your weapons. And of course, the main item you came here for: the Dance Fan. Grab it and bring it back to the Leading Opera Actress to complete The Star Performer quest.
Don’t skip this side quest. The Tiger Paperweight is required for other collectible quests later in the game.
Tips Before You Start This Quest
- Don’t rush past Myst’s Tavern. The quest only starts when you talk to the Leading Opera Actress inside. Take a moment to talk to every NPC there.
- Have the Rouge ready. She gives it to you during the conversation. Keep it in your inventory before heading to the alley.
- The Ha-Ha enemies aren’t too tough. If you’ve been progressing through Pangzhen normally, you should have no trouble beating them.
- Explore the full pavilion. Don’t just grab the Dance Fan and leave. The Tiger Paperweight chest on the second floor is easy to miss.
