TL;DR

  • Prophet is the first Overlord boss in Saros, found at the end of Shattered Rise.
  • The fight has three phases, each starting after the boss loses one health bar.
  • Destroy the yellow bud nodes on the walls to expose the boss’s weak point (central eye).
  • Absorb blue projectiles with your Shield to charge your Power Weapon — then unload on the eye.
  • In Phase 3, vine walls close in and shrink the arena. Keep dashing and use your shield.
  • Unlock the Second Chance upgrade before fighting for an extra life safety net.
  • Rewards: 400–450 Lucenite, a rare Halcyon, the “Prophet” Silver Trophy, and access to Ancient Depths.

Who Is the Prophet in Saros?

The Prophet is the first major boss — called an Overlord — in Saros, the PS5 roguelite from Housemarque. You fight it at the very end of the Shattered Rise biome, which is the game’s first main area.

This boss is massive. It grows out of the ground and is fixed to the back wall of the arena. It cannot move around the room, but do not let that fool you. It hits hard and throws a lot at you. The fight is split into three phases, and each one gets tougher than the last.

If you’re still learning the basics of the game, check out how to break orange walls and get past yellow barriers before heading into this fight. Being comfortable with the movement system makes a big difference here.

How to Reach the Prophet Boss

You won’t just stumble into this fight. There are a few steps you need to complete inside Shattered Rise first.

Fight through the biome’s arenas and collect as much Lucenite as you can along the way. At some point, you’ll reach a large hall with a blocked door. Near it, you’ll find a hand-like structure rising from the ground. Interact with it to trigger the Eclipse. This changes the world around you and makes enemies stronger and more aggressive.

After the Eclipse, head to the left of the main gate. Fight through the tougher enemies in that section and activate a mechanism at the end. This restores power to the gate. Then take the nearby teleporter, which sends you back to the start of the biome — where the gate is now open. Walk through and you’re in the Prophet’s arena.

Keep in mind: the map layout changes every run. The exact path will differ each time, but the goal stays the same — trigger the Eclipse, activate the mechanism, open the gate.

How to Prepare Before the Fight

Going in unprepared is the fastest way to restart the run. Do these things first.

Upgrade Your Armor Matrix

Before the fight, spend your Lucenite at the Primary station in The Passage. Unlock as many Armor Matrix nodes as you can. Focus on Drive nodes first — these increase Lucenite gains so every future run makes you stronger faster.

Unlock Second Chance

This is the single most important upgrade for this fight. Second Chance gives you an extra life if you die during the boss encounter. It lets you continue the fight instead of starting the whole run over. If you only unlock one Halcyon upgrade before fighting the Prophet, make it this one.

Pick the Right Weapon

The Onslaught Rifle is a strong early game choice here. Any weapon with a solid fire rate and good aim will work. Weapons with auto-hit are especially useful for taking out the small bud nodes during the fight. Make sure your weapon and proficiency level are both at 15 or higher before stepping into the arena.

Also check out what to do with Halcyon Primary upgrades to make sure you’re spending them wisely before this fight.

Watch the Red Grass

The Prophet’s arena has patches of red grass around the edges. Walking into it slows you down. This can be deadly when you need to dodge fast. Stay in the clear areas and keep that in mind throughout all three phases.

How to Beat Prophet – Phase by Phase

Phase 1: Destroy the Wall Nodes

When the fight starts, do not shoot the Prophet directly. Its central eye is closed and you cannot damage it yet. The health bar will show dashes across it to let you know.

Look at the walls on both sides of the boss. You’ll see small yellow glowing plants — sometimes called buds or nodes — attached to the wall. Your only job right now is to destroy all of them. Shoot every single one.

While you do this, the Prophet is not sitting still. It fires at you with two main attacks in this phase:

  • Yellow ground waves: These spread along the floor. Jump over them. Look for empty gaps in the pattern and stand there, or simply time your jump to clear them.
  • Blue homing projectiles: These come from above and follow you. Do not run away. Absorb them with your Shield instead. This charges your Power Weapon, which you’ll need later.

Keep jumping, absorbing blue shots, and shooting the nodes. Once all the nodes are destroyed, the Prophet’s central eye opens up. This is your window to deal real damage.

Now the boss adds two more attacks:

  • Diagonal yellow wave sets: The Prophet fires one diagonal wave to the left, then one to the right, then a flat horizontal wave. Jump over the third one — it’s the easiest to clear.
  • Right Claw slam: Watch the claw on the right side. It slams down and sends out a shockwave. Jump when you see the slam coming.

Shoot the open eye as much as possible. Use your Power Weapon when it’s charged up. When the eye closes, the nodes will come back on the walls. Destroy them again to reopen the eye. Keep repeating this until the first health bar is gone.

Phase 2: Adds and More Pressure

Once Phase 1 ends, the fight changes slightly. The Prophet now sends out smaller enemies alongside its normal attacks. Take care of them quickly — they can deal chip damage while you’re focused on the boss.

The core loop stays the same. Destroy the wall nodes, open the eye, shoot the eye. The attack patterns are similar to Phase 1, but the boss mixes things up more. Stay moving. Keep absorbing blue shots with your Shield to keep your Power Weapon charged. Unload your Power Weapon every chance you get.

If your health gets low, use the Shield to block incoming shots and let your Power Weapon help recover your Integrity. Keep your cool and don’t rush. Drain the second health bar and move on.

Phase 3: Shrinking Arena

Phase 3 is the hardest stretch. The Prophet raises vine walls on both sides of the arena, closing in around you. You have much less space to move and dodge.

The good news: no new attacks are added. It’s the same patterns from Phases 1 and 2, but thrown at you more frequently and in tighter space. Dash constantly. Use the Shield when you need to. Keep prioritizing the nodes, keep the eye open, and keep firing.

If you still have your Second Chance upgrade at this point, you’re in good shape. The phase can feel intense, but with the attack patterns already memorized, it’s mostly an execution test. Power through and the fight is yours.

Full List of Prophet’s Attacks and How to Counter Them

  • Yellow ground waves: Jump over them. Look for gaps or time the jump carefully.
  • Blue homing shots: Absorb with Shield to charge your Power Weapon.
  • Diagonal yellow wave sets: Dodge left and right, then jump the flat horizontal third wave.
  • Right Claw shockwave: Jump when the claw slams down.
  • Yellow sparks along the floor: Look for empty spots between them to stand in.
  • Yellow projectile arc circle: Stay in the gaps or dash through them.
  • Blob throws (late Phase 1 and beyond): Keep moving and jump away from landing spots.
  • Smaller enemy spawns (Phase 2): Take them out quickly so they don’t distract you.

Tips to Make the Fight Easier

  • Time your reloads. Get used to reloading during safe windows so you never pause your fire when the eye is open.
  • Keep the Shield ready. Absorbing blue shots is not just defensive — it’s how you charge your Power Weapon. Do it as often as you can.
  • Use Power Weapon aggressively. When charged, fire it immediately at the open eye. Don’t save it.
  • Don’t stand in red grass. The slowdown at the wrong moment can get you hit.
  • Enable Carcosan Modifiers. If you’ve cleared the first two biomes before and still struggle, Protection Modifiers can make the game more manageable. They do not disable trophies.

If you’re unsure how to navigate the biome itself, our guides on how to unlock Jump Network Pads and how to open locked containers with Carcosan Keys can help you move through Shattered Rise more efficiently.

What Do You Get for Beating the Prophet?

Defeating the Prophet gives you several rewards:

  • 400 to 450 Lucenite — even more if you have modifiers active.
  • A rare Halcyon for your Armor Matrix upgrades.
  • The “Prophet” Silver Trophy — earned for defeating the Overlord of the Shattered Rise.
  • Access to Ancient Depths — the second biome in Saros.

A teleporter opens behind the Prophet’s position after the fight. Take it to return to The Passage, and the path to Ancient Depths will be unlocked.

How Long Does It Take to Beat the Prophet?

The Prophet fight itself takes around five to ten minutes once you know the patterns. Getting to the boss for the first time — including learning Shattered Rise — may take a few runs depending on your skill level.

What Comes After Defeating the Prophet?

After beating the Prophet, you unlock the Ancient Depths biome. The next Overlord you’ll face there is called Bastion. You’ll also be able to access Carcosan Modifiers for the first time, which let you adjust difficulty to your liking.

The Prophet is a fair first boss once you understand the loop. Destroy the nodes, open the eye, shoot it, absorb blue shots, charge your Power Weapon, repeat. The patterns stay consistent across all three phases. Phase 3 only adds tighter space, not new mechanics.

Go in with Second Chance unlocked, keep your shield active, and stay off the red grass. A few attempts is all most players need to figure out the rhythm and bring this Overlord down.
