    • The Hedgehog Herb is a side quest found in the abandoned village of Oghasti in The Silts region.
    • It rewards the Razkovniche Elixir, which permanently boosts your max Human Health by 20% and Vampiric Health by 10%.
    • You also earn 1 Skill Point and 100 XP on completion.
    • The quest costs 2 to 3 Time Segments plus a full in-game day of waiting.

    • You can craft the potion yourself, ask Anca for free, or pay the Svartrau medic 100 coins.

The Hedgehog Herb quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker is one of the most rewarding side quests you can find in The Silts region. It gives Coen a permanent health boost that stacks well into later fights. The quest has no quest giver, no prerequisites, and no fail state. You just walk into the right house in Oghasti and it begins. Check our full quest list for The Blood of Dawnwalker if you want to see where this one fits into the bigger picture. It is easy to walk right past this quest since Oghasti looks like any other abandoned settlement. This guide walks you through every step from start to finish.

Where To Find The Hedgehog Herb Quest – Oghasti Location

Head to the southern part of the open world map and find the abandoned settlement called Oghasti. It sits in The Silts region, southwest of Svartrau City. There is a Scouting Tower nearby which makes it easy to spot on the map once you have climbed it. Oghasti is also a location you pass through during the Sanzhani questline, so you may have already visited it.

When you arrive, there will be wolves roaming the abandoned village. Deal with them first, then look for the northeastern house. Walk inside and you will see a new quest marker appear. The Hedgehog Herb side quest begins automatically.

Step-By-Step Walkthrough – The Hedgehog Herb

Step 1 – Investigate The House and Its Surroundings Using Focus Mode

Activate Focus Mode (hold L2 on PlayStation or LT on Xbox) to highlight all the interactive objects in and around the house. There are several items you need to collect before you can question the corpse. Do these in any order.

    • Outside the front door: Pick up the Axe lying on the ground.
    • To the right side of the house: Pick up the Watering Can.
    • Inside the house – right wall: Grab the Razkovniche Potion Recipe from the beam on the wall. This automatically unlocks the Razkovniche Elixir crafting recipe in your menu.
    • Inside the house – middle of the room: Inspect the small wooden chest, then inspect the front of it and the seeds inside to collect the Razkovniche Seeds.
    • Also inside: Read the Herbalist’s Journal found near the chest for extra lore on what happened here.

Step 2 – Question The Corpse Using Items of Importance

On the bed inside the house lies a dead herbalist. Use your Compel Soul ability on the corpse. This is a Witchcraft ability and it only works during the day, so if it is currently night time, wait until morning before attempting this.

Once you activate Compel Soul, use each of the items you picked up — the Axe, the Watering Can, the Seeds, and the Recipe — to ask the spirit questions. Each item reveals a piece of the story behind what happened in this house. This step is required to unlock the planting objective.

If you have not yet unlocked Compel Soul, see our guide on the best skills to level up in Blood of Dawnwalker to prioritise your build.

Step 3 – Plant The Razkovniche Seed In The House

On the opposite side of the house from the chest, you will find a ceramic pot sitting on a wooden table. Interact with the pot to plant the Razkovniche Seed. You then give it a few drops of your blood to begin the growing process. This costs 1 Time Segment.

    Step 4 – Wait For a Full In-Game Day

The plant needs one full in-game day to grow. That is 16 Time Segments total. You do not have to sit around waiting. Go do other quests, Court Activities, or exploration. The plant grows passively while you play. Come back when a full day has passed.

This is a good time to work on other quests in the area. The Silts region also has the Where Old Devils Lie quest and several exploration points worth checking out while you wait.

Step 5 – Return and Harvest The Razkovniche Plant

After at least 16 Time Segments have passed, go back to the pot in the Oghasti house. The plant will have grown fully. Interact with it to harvest the Razkovniche Plant. This costs another 1 Time Segment.

As soon as you exit the house after harvesting, a Vidmo specter will spawn outside. Destroy it — this is a straightforward fight. Just a small burst of your vampiric power is enough to deal with it. After the specter is gone, you move on to brewing the potion.

Step 6 – Craft The Razkovniche Elixir

You have three options for turning the plant into the final potion. The result is the same no matter which path you pick — you always receive the Razkovniche Elixir with identical effects. Here is what each option involves:

Option A – Craft It Yourself

If you already have the required ingredients in your inventory, you can brew the potion yourself without spending an extra Time Segment. You need:

    • 1x Strong Ancient Reagent (found in Ancient Ruins across the map)
    • 2x Tatzelwurm Glands (looted from Tatzelwurm enemies)

Open your crafting menu and make the Razkovniche Elixir directly. This is the fastest and cheapest option if you already have the materials.

Option B – Ask Anca To Make It (Free)

Travel to the Crossroads Inn and find Anca. Ask her to brew the potion for you. She does it at no cost but it does use 1 Time Segment. This is the best option if you are short on crafting materials. Anca is also involved in her own questline which you may already be progressing through — see our guide on romancing Anca for more on her story. You can also check the Echoes of Silenced Bells quest which kicks off her questline.

Option C – Ask The Silberstein Medic (Costs 100 Coins)

In Svartrau City, head to the medic on the southeastern side of the settlement. You can pay them 100 coins to brew the potion. This also costs 1 Time Segment. Use this option if you are missing crafting ingredients and have not yet met Anca.

Razkovniche Elixir – What Does It Do?

The Razkovniche Elixir is a one-time use utility item. You can only make it once during the entire playthrough. When you consume it, Coen permanently gains:

    • +20% maximum Human Health
    • +10% maximum Vampiric Health
    • +1 Skill Point

Because the effects are permanent and the potion cannot be crafted again, you should use it as soon as you have it. There is no reason to hold onto it. The health increase helps significantly during the tougher fights against Bakir and Xanthe, and especially in the lead-up to the final confrontation with Brencis.

If you want to build Coen’s combat potential further, check our guides on how to get more ability slots and the best skills to prioritise as you level up.

Things To Know Before Starting This Quest

    • Do it during the day. Compel Soul cannot be used at night. If you arrive in Oghasti at night, either wait or skip time until morning.
    • It does not cost much time. The quest uses just 2 to 3 Time Segments of active playtime. The 16-segment wait happens in the background while you do other things.
    • No quest giver means easy to miss. There is no NPC who sends you here. You have to explore Oghasti and walk into the right house yourself.
    • Wolves are in the village. Clear them before going inside or they will interrupt your investigation.
    • The Vidmo specter appears after harvesting. It is not a hard fight, but be ready for it when you exit the house.
    • This quest is in The Silts region, which also has the Home Sweet Home hidden quest and The Price of Magic. Worth clearing the area while you are there.

Is The Hedgehog Herb Quest Worth Doing?

Yes, without question. A permanent health increase that applies to both your human and vampiric health bars is valuable at any point in the game. The time cost is very low and there are no combat challenges tied to starting it. The only real time investment is the 16-segment wait, which you spend doing other things anyway.

If you are managing your 30-day time limit in Blood of Dawnwalker, this quest fits cleanly into a busy schedule. Start it early, let it run in the background, and collect the reward when you are passing through The Silts again.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Where does The Hedgehog Herb quest start?

It starts automatically when you enter the northeastern house in the abandoned village of Oghasti. Oghasti is located in The Silts region, southwest of Svartrau City. There is no quest giver — you just need to walk inside.

Can I fail The Hedgehog Herb quest?

No. This quest has no fail state listed. As long as you start it and follow through the steps, you will complete it. The only thing to watch out for is that Compel Soul requires daytime to work, so if you arrive at night you will need to wait until morning to question the corpse.

What happens if I do not have the crafting materials for the Razkovniche Elixir?

You have two other options. Ask Anca at the Crossroads Inn to brew it for free, or go to the Silberstein medic in Svartrau City and pay 100 coins. Either way, you still get the same Razkovniche Elixir with the same permanent effects.

Can I craft the Razkovniche Elixir more than once?

No. The elixir can only be crafted one time per playthrough. The plant only grows once and the recipe cannot be repeated. Use the elixir as soon as you have it — saving it for later provides no benefit since the effects are the same regardless of when you drink it.
