Complete Build Guide • Wuthering Waves Version 3.1 • February 2026
A-Tier • Aero • Broadblade • Hypercarry Main DPS • 5★ Limited Banner • Midnight Rangers Commander
Overview
Jiyan is the first 5-star limited Main DPS released in Wuthering Waves and still holds his ground as a solid A-Tier Aero Broadblade hypercarry as of Version 3.1 in February 2026. He is the commander of the Midnight Rangers and wields the power of Qingloong — a spectral wind dragon — to deal massive AoE Heavy Attack damage during his Resonance Liberation. What he lacks in raw single-target ceiling compared to newer S-Tier carries, he more than compensates with ease of use, generous AoE grouping, and exceptional performance in Whimpering Wastes multi-wave content.
His combat revolves around building Resolve stacks through Normal Attacks and Intro Skills, then spending 30 stacks to supercharge his Resonance Liberation into Emerald Storm: Finale, which triggers Qingloong Mode. Inside this mode, all of his attacks transform into wide-reaching Heavy Attacks that suppress and group lightweight enemies — providing genuine crowd control that very few DPS characters can replicate. He is one of the most beginner-friendly 5-stars in the roster, with straightforward rotations and highly forgiving Forte management.
⚡ Kit & Qingloong Mode
Outside of Qingloong Mode, Jiyan builds Resolve through his Basic Attack combo (up to 60 stacks) and his Intro Skill. At 30+ stacks, he can spend them on either an empowered Resonance Skill for a quick damage bump or — far more importantly — save them for his Resonance Liberation to trigger Emerald Storm: Finale and enter Qingloong Mode. Always save Resolve for the Liberation; using it prematurely on the Skill significantly lowers rotation DPS.
Inside Qingloong Mode, Jiyan’s Basic Attacks, Heavy Attacks, and Dodge Counters all become the powerful Lance of Qingloong — wide AoE Heavy Attack slashes that deal Aero DMG and pull nearby lightweight enemies to the center. He also gains interruption resistance during this state. The advanced Double Dragon rotation (weaving a second partial Liberation window) reduces field time from 12.17s to 10.94s for higher effective DPS, but the standard rotation is perfectly viable for most players. Maintaining at least 130% Energy Regen is strongly recommended to keep Qingloong Mode uptime consistent each rotation.
🚗 Weapons & Echoes
Jiyan’s signature weapon. Provides Crit DMG substat plus up to 48% Heavy Attack DMG Bonus (triggered after Skill or Liberation use) and a consistent 12% universal DMG bonus — the complete package for his kit.
High base ATK of 587.5 with 24.3% Crit DMG substat and a 12% DMG Bonus passive. Works very well on Jiyan if you don’t need it on Jinhsi, who scales more from it. A strong second-choice option.
Waning Redshift (4-star, non-BP) is his best free option with strong ATK scaling that speeds up Liberation access. Guardian Broadblade is the craftable 3-star that boosts Heavy Attack DMG — a usable fallback for new players.
Best Echo Set: Sierra Gale (5-piece) — grants 10% Aero DMG from the 2-piece and significantly amplifies Aero DMG after the Intro Skill from the 5-piece, perfectly aligned with Jiyan’s rotation entry. Main Echo: Nightmare: Feilian Beringal (3-Cost), which boosts Aero DMG and Heavy Attack DMG simultaneously and can be swap-cancelled to maintain its buff during Jiyan’s damage window. If Sierra Gale is not yet complete, run a Sierra Gale + Lingering Tunes hybrid temporarily.
Stat Priority: 4-Cost: Crit DMG main stat → 3-Cost: Aero DMG × 2 → 1-Cost: ATK%. Substats: Crit Rate / Crit DMG > ATK% > Heavy ATK DMG Bonus > Energy Regen. Maintain a minimum of 130% Energy Regen for consistent Qingloong Mode uptime.
👥 Best Teams
The strongest available Jiyan composition. Iuno is his premier Heavy Attack buffer, providing up to 50% Heavy ATK DMG Amplification while dealing strong sub-DPS damage and healing. Shorekeeper enables aggressive play with party-wide buffs and Stellarealm healing. Both supports swap in before Jiyan to stack their Outro effects for his full burst window.
A full Aero Erosion composition. Ciaccona stacks Aero Erosion on enemies and provides multiple Aero DMG buffs via her kit. Aero Rover acts as a flexible secondary sub-DPS, healer, and buffer. Jiyan then capitalises on all stacked Aero debuffs and team buffs with his Liberation AoE. Excellent for both ToA and Whimpering Wastes.
A reliable budget composition. Mortefi’s Liberation directly amplifies Jiyan’s Heavy Attack DMG when active, making him a strong accessible buffer. Verina provides party-wide ATK buffs, healing, and All-Type DMG Deepen via her Outro — a solid all-rounder support for any Jiyan team.
📈 Skill Priority & Sequences
Max skills in this order: Resonance Liberation (highest priority — directly scales Qingloong Mode damage) → Forte Circuit → Resonance Skill → Basic Attack → Intro Skill.
For Sequences (Resonance Chains): S3 is the first impactful node, boosting Crit Rate and Crit DMG. S5 significantly increases ATK%. S6 delivers the largest single damage spike and is genuinely game-changing, though reaching it requires substantial investment. S1 is an energy restoration node and does not directly increase damage output.
The Verdict
🌡️ The Veteran Warlord
Jiyan is a well-rounded A-Tier Main DPS who has aged gracefully since his Version 1.0 debut. While newer S-Tier carries like Jinhsi, Augusta, and Zani have higher damage ceilings for single-target boss fights, Jiyan’s superb AoE coverage, enemy grouping mechanics, and beginner-friendly rotations keep him genuinely competitive — especially in Whimpering Wastes multi-wave encounters where his wide-hitting Qingloong attacks are among the best wave-clear tools in the game. He is also one of the most accessible 5-stars to play well, making him an excellent choice for players who want reliable endgame performance without needing to master complex mechanical requirements.
Final Recommendation: Use Verdant Summit for peak damage, or Ages of Harvest / Waning Redshift as alternatives. Run Sierra Gale (5-piece) with Nightmare Feilian Beringal as the main Echo. Pair with Iuno + Shorekeeper for maximum output, or use the F2P-friendly Mortefi + Verina composition. Maintain at least 130% Energy Regen and always save Resolve for your Liberation — never spend it early on the Skill.
