What Are Secret Sections?

Secret sections are rare, special floors hidden within normal towers. They don’t display a name when spawned, usually appear in a distinct gray color, and contain puzzles, mini-games, Easter eggs, or cosmetic rewards you won’t find anywhere else in Tower of Hell.

Added on October 11, 2019, secret sections were designed to reward explorers and long-time players with surprise encounters during normal runs. They are approximately 20× rarer than vanilla sections — a standard vanilla section has a spawn weight of ~2.5, while most secret sections have a default weight of 50 (on a scale where higher numbers = more common).

Spawn Mechanics
Secret sections can spawn in any public or private server, as long as you haven’t used the /filtersections command. Using /skip only blocks secrets for the very next round — they can reappear after that. The command /ttoh full guarantees MiniTower and Anticipation will spawn in your current run.

Notable Secret Sections Explained

Some secret sections deserve more than a table row. Here’s the full story on the most interesting, impactful, or hardest-to-find sections.

🌀
Anticipation
Updated December 2025

A 4-layer staircase that winds 1,440 degrees around the inside of the tower. For years, it was the rarest regular secret section — it could only spawn as the very first section of a tower. In December 2025, it was updated to spawn anywhere, making it significantly easier to encounter. It still shares the 0.000067563% spawn chance with Blank and Minute. In THE Tower of Hell mode, /ttoh full guarantees Anticipation will appear.

⏱️
Minute
Ultra Rare · 1-Minute Climb

Structurally identical to Anticipation but the stairs are made entirely of conveyor belts. They’re extremely long — it takes exactly 60 seconds to walk to the top, hence the name. With a 0.000067563% spawn rate, stumbling upon Minute naturally in a public server is extraordinarily rare. Multiple people have reported their entire lobby timing out because a troll bought the Low Gravity mutator mid-climb.

House
Easter Egg + Killpart

A light blue section featuring a house where developers uwuPyxl and ObrenTune can be seen sitting inside playing Tetris Game Night on a screen. It’s the only secret section that contains a killpart — the lightbulb. Check behind the TV for the text “ObrenTune was here,” one of the game’s most beloved Easter eggs. The screen inside shows the Tetris Game Night section playing on loop.

Tetris Game Night
Playable Mini-Game

A giant Pong screen with red and blue paddle controls. Two teams of players can control paddles using colored buttons at the bottom. Despite the name referencing Tetris (1984), the actual gameplay is Pong (1972) — an intentional in-joke by the developers. A paddle won’t move if two players stand on the same colored control simultaneously. You can physically stand on a moving paddle and ride it upward.

The Vault
Secret Code · Reward Inside

A giant light gray safe with a 0-9 number keypad, an Enter (E) button, and a Clear (C) button. Enter the correct code and the safe opens to reveal a smaller safe containing an Infinite Jump Coil effect. The code is not publicly documented per wiki policy. Entering 69 as a code displays “NICE” in red — a nod to the game’s internal joke about the number. The correct code changes nothing externally; only the interior unlocks.

Cyclotron
Physics Chaos Section

Cyclotron rotates every section above it around the tower’s vertical axis. This sounds simple until you realize it makes ladders nearly unclimbable from certain angles, and conveyors that were pointing one direction now point somewhere completely different. It’s one of the most disorienting sections in the game, punishing players who autopilot familiar section layouts without looking up to check what Cyclotron changed.

T / T (Variant 2)
Tower Splitter

T splits the tower structure into a T-shape, tilting all sections above it 90 degrees sideways. At the end of the section, two doors are visible but only one leads upward — the other is a dead end. Players who aren’t paying attention often take the wrong door and waste precious time. Variant 2 has a slightly different internal layout with alternative platform arrangements, but the same tower-splitting gimmick.

🗼
MiniTower
Tower Within a Tower

MiniTower renders a complete miniature replica of your current tower inside the section. On towers with 200+ sections, the mini replica is so tall it clips through the ceiling and extends above the roof. It was section 211 in the legacy Tower of Hell (THE Tower). The /ttoh full command guarantees it spawns, making it the most reliably-encountered secret section for anyone using a private server strategically.

Pride TV
Instant All-Trails Reward

A TV displaying moving pride flags — touching it awards all available Pride Trails at once, making it the most rewarding single-interaction in the game for effect collectors. On the back of the TV is a tribute to DerHausaufgabe’s rats: “BlackyBountyBrowny™” — one of Tower of Hell’s most heartfelt Easter eggs. It’s one of 5 secret sections that provide cosmetic rewards.

⚠️ Badge-Awarding Section Deep Dive

Saboteur: The Reactor Event

Saboteur is unlike any other secret section. Added August 31, 2024 by uwuPyxl and Kitten_Bites, it’s actually five interconnected sections that trigger a timed reactor meltdown event. Completing it awards the Saboteur badge and the extremely rare Carmine Halo. Its spawn weight is 250 — roughly 5× more common than a standard secret — but the badge and halo require very specific conditions.

Critical Rule
You MUST be in the server before the round starts for the section to count. Server-hopping mid-round displays an ERR 410 error and blocks the badge. Continuously rejoining empty private servers is also treated as server hopping. You only get one life — dying during the event means waiting for the next round in a different server.
1

Identify the Saboteur Section

Look for The Core — a pulsing reactor room that spawns somewhere in the tower. Saboteur’s 4 vertical sections (The Core, Bunker Branch, and two Coolant Sectors) appear in random order. Listen for the heartbeat audio that gets faster as the core heats up toward 5,000K.

2

Flip Both Cooling Levers

Find the two Coolant Sector sections (each contains one lever). Flip PUMP A in one and PUMP B in the other. Failing to flip both prevents the meltdown from triggering correctly. These levers are not labeled clearly — look for the interactive toggle switch in each Coolant Sector.

3

Watch for the Three Warnings

The core produces three escalating warnings: (1) a faster heartbeat, (2) red laser flashes with “pew-pew” sounds at 45 seconds before explosion, and (3) an audible charge-up sound at approximately 6 seconds before explosion. These are your countdowns to evacuate.

4

Reach the Bunker Branch Stairwell

Get to the Bunker Branch section’s stairwell and stand in front of the first vault door before the core reaches 5,000K. The explosion expands — if you’re still in the vertical tower sections when it detonates, you die. The neon floor in Bunker Branch kills you even with the Invincibility mutator active, so don’t touch it.

5

Complete Six Horizontal Sections

After the explosion, you’re transported to horizontal sections (re-enabled after their original introduction in the Tower of Hell RB event). Complete all six. They have transparent killparts along the lower walls — stay centered and high. These are the Bunker Door sections leading to the final Bunker.

6

Collect the Carmine Halo

Enter the circular final Bunker room and touch the Carmine Halo in the center. The door opens after a brief wait. Touch it and you receive the Saboteur badge and Carmine Halo simultaneously. After a short delay, the door closes, everyone is killed, and a new tower spawns.

Finding Saboteur Efficiently in a Private Server
Set your tower length to 4 sections and complete the tower quickly to speed up the timer. Then set the next tower to 40 sections (more sections = more chances for Saboteur to spawn). If Saboteur doesn’t appear, reset to 4 and repeat. This is called the “4/40 method” by the community.
Strategies

How to Find Secret Sections Faster

Secret sections are rare by design, but there are legitimate strategies to increase your chances — especially in private servers.

🔄
Server Hop Smartly
Public Server Method

Join public servers and check if any secret sections spawned in the current tower. If not, rejoin a new server. You’ll encounter a secret section eventually. Don’t use /skip as it blocks secrets for the next round only. For badge-specific secrets (Saboteur), you must be present from the start — no hopping mid-round.

⚙️
Private Server Commands
VIP Server Method

In a private server (250 Robux), use /setlength X to cycle tower lengths and see more unique section combinations. Avoid /filtersections as it blocks secrets entirely. Use /ttoh full to guarantee MiniTower and Anticipation spawn. For Saboteur, use the 4/40 tower-length cycling method.

📊
Understand Spawn Weights
Math Approach

Saboteur has weight 250 — the most likely secret to appear. Most other secrets have weight 50. Blank, Minute, and Anticipation share the 0.000067563% rate (admin-command or near-impossible for Blank). A longer tower means more section slots, which means more chances for any secret to appear in a single run.

👥
Join Active Communities
Social Method

Tower of Hell Discord servers and subreddits often post alerts when rare sections spawn. Some players specifically farm sections and invite others. Community spreadsheets track all 32 secret sections so you know which ones you’ve found. The wiki community is particularly active with tips and section sightings.

Secret Badge Tip
The Secret badge requires only entering any secret section — you don’t need to complete it or beat the tower. Simply stepping onto the first block of any secret section triggers the badge instantly on your first encounter. This is by far the easiest rare-feeling badge to obtain once you understand how to look for them.
Hidden Details

Easter Eggs & Hidden Details

Secret sections are filled with references, tributes, and developer in-jokes. Here are all the confirmed Easter eggs as of February 2026.

📺
“ObrenTune was here”
Behind the TV in the House secret section. ObrenTune is a co-developer of Tower of Hell and co-owner of YXceptional Studios — a personal signature hidden where most players never look.
🐀
“BlackyBountyBrowny™”
Behind the TV in Pride TV. A tribute to DerHausaufgabe’s three real-life pet rats: Blacky, Bounty, and Browny. The ™ symbol is part of the original text in-game.
🏓
Tetris ≠ Tetris
The section called “Tetris Game Night” is actually a Pong game (from 1972). The name references Tetris (1984). It’s a deliberate mismatch, functioning as a developer joke about confusing classic game references.
🔐
The Vault Code: 69
Entering 69 as a code in The Vault displays “NICE” in red on-screen — consistent with the game-wide joke. The correct secret code to actually open the vault is not publicly documented per wiki rules.
🌡️
Killpart Color: “nice°”
This isn’t exclusive to secret sections, but directly related to the number joke. When selecting killpart colors in settings, choosing 69° displays “nice°” instead of “69°” in the settings menu.
🏠
Developers Playing Games
In the House section, the two figures visible through the window are uwuPyxl and ObrenTune — the game’s lead developers. They’re shown playing Tetris Game Night together, which is itself another secret section.
Common Questions

FAQ

QHow many secret sections are there in Tower of Hell as of 2026?

There are 32 confirmed secret sections. Of these, 25 are publicly spawnable in normal and private servers. 2 are event-specific and currently inaccessible (Christmas 2025 sections ended January 5, 2026). 5 require admin commands to spawn (including Blank and PathRight/PathStraight variants). Saboteur counts as one “super section” despite being five connected sub-sections.

QDo secret sections count toward the Explorer badge?

No. The Explorer badge requires you to touch all 330 vanilla sections — secret sections are specifically excluded. This is why the Tourist badge (which required finding all secret sections) was removed in 2020; requiring players to complete both vanilla and secret sections was considered too punishing and distracted from core gameplay.

QWhat’s the rarest secret section you can find without admin commands?

Minute and Anticipation share the rarest spawn rate at 0.000067563% — both are astronomically unlikely to appear naturally. However, since Anticipation was updated in December 2025 to spawn anywhere (not just as the first section), it now has slightly more opportunities to appear per tower. Blank has the same probability but requires a VIP server admin command, making it effectively impossible without developer access.

QCan I get the Secret badge in a private server?

Yes, secret sections can spawn in private servers as long as you don’t use the /filtersections command. Using /skip only blocks secrets for the next round. In a private server, use /setlength to cycle tower lengths and increase your chances of a secret section spawning. Just stepping onto any secret section (not completing it) triggers the Secret badge.

QWhat rewards do secret sections give?

Most secret sections give no direct reward — they’re just rare encounters. Exceptions include: Pride, Pride Picker, and Pride TV (which award Pride Trail cosmetics), The Vault (infinite jump coil effect if you know the code), and Saboteur (awards the Saboteur badge and Carmine Halo). The Secret badge itself is awarded the first time you enter any secret section.

QWhat’s the difference between the Christmas 2025 event sections?

The Christmas 2025 event ran from around December 2025 until January 5, 2026. It introduced five secret sections: The North Pole, Wonderland, Xmas, Christmas Tree, and Snow Castle. Each section contained a gift that initially appeared to be a random object (a trumpet, fire extinguisher, or pan) — but when opened on December 25th, revealed Christmas-themed gear skins for the Gravity, Speed, and Fusion coils plus a Trowel skin and Hook skin. All five are now inaccessible.

QDoes Saboteur spawn in a Noob Tower (short towers)?

According to the community wiki, Saboteur requires enough tower sections for all 4 of its vertical sub-sections to fit. If the tower length is too short, there won’t be room and it won’t spawn. This is why the 4/40 method works — you briefly set a 4-section tower to speed up the timer, then immediately switch to 40 sections to give Saboteur room to spawn.

QAre there any new secret sections coming in 2026?

As of February 2026, no new regular secret sections have been announced. Tower of Hell typically adds secret sections during events (like the Christmas 2025 batch) or as major gameplay additions (like Saboteur in August 2024). Keep an eye on the official YXceptional Studios social accounts and the Tower of Hell wiki for any updates during future events.
