Tower of Hell Badges Guide: All Badges, How to Get Every One & the Purple Halo

TL;DR

  • Tower of Hell has 9 currently obtainable badges, introduced on January 25, 2020.
  • Collecting all 9 badges unlocks the Purple Halo — one of the most prestigious rewards in the game.
  • The easiest badges are Newbie and Pro. The hardest are Saboteur (rare secret section) and Collector (coin box luck).
  • The Mutated badge requires all 7 coin-bought mutators active in the same round: Foggy, Invincibility, High Speed, Low Gravity, Invert, Lengthen, and Extra Time.
  • The Maxed badge requires reaching Level 80 and completing the full Skill Tree. It also rewards the Pink Halo.
  • The Explorer badge requires physically touching all 330 vanilla sections currently in the game.
  • The Saboteur badge is the rarest — it comes from the Saboteur secret section and also rewards the Carmine Halo.
  • The Certified Beast badge (Red Halo) and Tourist badge (Orange Halo) are permanently unobtainable.
  • The RB Battles Championship badge is also disabled and no longer earnable.

Tower of Hell Badges Guide — the complete breakdown of every badge in the game, how to unlock each one, what rewards you get, and how it all connects to the Purple Halo. Whether you just started playing or you are chasing your last remaining badge, this guide covers everything you need to know about the full badge system, updated through 2025 and 2026.

Badges were introduced to Tower of Hell on January 25, 2020. They give players long-term goals beyond completing rounds, rewarding mastery, persistence, and luck in different ways. There are currently 9 obtainable badges in Tower of Hell. Earning all of them rewards the Purple Halo — widely considered one of the most important halos in the game to collect.

How the Badge System Works

Each badge in Tower of Hell has a specific unlock condition. Some require you to complete a milestone for the first time (like finishing your first Noob Tower). Others require grinding, grinding, and more grinding (like collecting every effect from coin boxes). One is entirely dependent on rare luck (finding the Saboteur secret section).

Badges stack over time. There is no rush order, but most players find it efficient to work on the easier ones first — Newbie, Pro, Mutated, and Secret — then move to longer grinds like Maxed, Explorer, and Collector. Saboteur should be worked on passively in the background while grinding other badges, since you cannot force it to appear.

Once you have all 9 badges, the Purple Halo is automatically awarded. You do not need to claim it — it appears in your inventory when the final badge is unlocked.

To fully understand how the Skill Tree connects to the Maxed badge, see our Tower of Hell skill tree guide. And for a full breakdown of every halo in the game including the ones you earn from badges, see our Tower of Hell halos guide.

Badge 1: Newbie

How to unlock: Complete your first Noob Tower by touching the door at the top.

The first badge almost every player earns. You just need to reach the top of any Noob Tower and touch the white door. It works in public servers and private servers alike. The timer does not matter — as long as you complete the tower before it runs out, you get the badge. In a private server, you can set the tower to a small number of sections to make it easier if you are struggling.

This badge does not reward a halo on its own. Its value is in contributing toward the Purple Halo collection.

Difficulty: Very Easy

Badge 2: Pro

How to unlock: Complete your first Pro Tower by touching the door at the top.

Pro Towers are harder than Noob Towers — they have more sections (up to 12 in a public Pro Tower) and generally tougher obstacles. To access a Pro Tower in a public server, go through the Pro Tower portal, which is below the start ladder in the lobby. To get this badge in a private server, set your tower to 12 sections — this counts as a Pro Tower for badge purposes.

Like Newbie, you must touch the door at the very top. Completing the obby without touching the door will not count. Pro Tower is a great badge to work on alongside early Skill Tree grinding, since completing Pro Towers gives more XP per run and helps push you toward Level 80 faster.

Difficulty: Easy to Medium

Badge 3: Secret

How to unlock: Find and enter any secret section in any tower (Noob or Pro).

Secret sections are rare, hidden sections that occasionally replace a vanilla section in the tower. They appear in a grayscale color and have no visible name above them. When you first step into one, you earn the Secret badge automatically — you do not need to complete the section or do anything inside it. Simply entering it triggers the badge.

The fastest way to guarantee this badge is to use a private server and cycle through rounds using the /skip command until a secret section appears. Note that /skip prevents secret sections from spawning in only the next round — so use it strategically. Alternatively, just play normally and wait. Most players encounter their first secret section within a few hours of regular play.

You cannot earn this badge by touching Blank using /filtersections — you need a naturally occurring or private-server-spawned secret section. Secret sections are approximately 20 times rarer than regular vanilla sections by default.

For a full list of every secret section, how they work, and tips for finding specific ones, see our Tower of Hell secret sections guide.

Difficulty: Easy (with private server) / Medium (public server)

Badge 4: Mutated

How to unlock: Play in a round where all 7 coin-bought mutators are active at the same time.

The 7 coin-bought mutators you need active simultaneously are:

  • Foggy — Fills the tower with fog, limiting visibility.
  • Invincibility — Players cannot be killed by killparts.
  • High Speed — All players move faster.
  • Low Gravity — Players jump higher and fall slower.
  • Invert — Colors in the game are inverted.
  • Lengthen — Adds extra sections to the tower.
  • Extra Time — Extends the round timer.

You do not need the Robux or premium mutators. Only these 7 coin-bought ones count. You also do not need to complete the tower — just being in an active round where all 7 are running at the same time will earn the badge.

The easiest method is a private server. Use the mutator shop at the start of a round and purchase all 7 before the round properly begins. All purchases stack and apply to the same round. This badge costs coins but is straightforward once you have saved up enough. In a public server, you would need other players to buy different mutators in the same round — which is harder to control.

For more detail on how each mutator works and which ones you can combine, our Tower of Hell mutators guide has the full breakdown.

Difficulty: Easy (with private server and enough coins)

Badge 5: Maxed

How to unlock: Reach Level 80 and purchase every skill in the Skill Tree.

Halo reward: Pink Halo

This is one of the bigger time investments in the game. To earn the Maxed badge, you need to reach Level 80 by playing normally and accumulating XP through rounds, then spend your skill points to completely fill out the Skill Tree. Reaching Level 80 is the primary bottleneck — the Skill Tree itself can be purchased with skill points as you level up, so by the time you hit 80 you likely already have most of it filled.

XP is earned by completing sections in a round. Each section you pass gives XP in real time. Completing a full Noob Tower gives 100 XP. The XP required to level up increases with each level — Level 0 to 1 requires 100 XP, Level 1 to 2 requires 200 XP, and so on. This makes the early levels fast but the later ones slow. The total XP required to reach Level 80 is substantial.

When you max the Skill Tree and hit Level 80, the Maxed badge unlocks and the Pink Halo is automatically added to your inventory. This halo is one of the cleaner-looking badge rewards and many players grind this badge simply for the halo.

For everything you need to know about the Skill Tree layout, node costs, and the best order to unlock skills, see our Tower of Hell skill tree guide.

Difficulty: Hard (time investment)

Badge 6: Collector

How to unlock: Obtain every effect available from coin boxes (excluding Robux box effects and exclusive effects).

Halo reward: Teal Halo

The Collector badge is one of the most coin-intensive goals in the game and is almost entirely luck-based. Coin boxes cost 500 coins each and give a random effect from the available pool. Effects come in different rarities — common, uncommon, rare, and higher — which means some effects are pulled from boxes far more often than others. You keep pulling until you have every coin-box effect.

You do not need Robux box effects. Effects that cost Robux (like the Blue Halo effect from the Legendary box) are specifically excluded from the Collector badge requirement. Only the coin box pool counts. However, there are still many effects in that pool, and because the rewards are random and do not prevent duplicates in every pull, players commonly spend millions of coins across hundreds or thousands of boxes before completing the set.

When the final coin-box effect is obtained, the Collector badge unlocks and the Teal Halo is awarded. The Teal Halo is considered one of the more visually distinctive badge rewards, and many players see the Collector grind as the hardest part of reaching the Purple Halo purely because of the luck factor involved.

Difficulty: Very Hard (luck and coin grind)

Badge 7: Explorer

How to unlock: Physically touch all 330 vanilla sections currently in the game.

The Explorer badge tracks which sections you have touched over your entire playtime in Tower of Hell. Every time you step onto a new section, it registers. The counter tracks this across all your sessions — you do not need to touch all 330 in a single run. You just need to have touched every vanilla section at least once across your time playing.

With 330 sections in the pool, this takes considerable time. The tower is randomly generated each round from the full section pool, so most sections will appear naturally over enough play. However, some sections are significantly rarer than others. If you are missing specific sections after hundreds of hours, a private server lets you use the /skip and /filtersections commands to cycle through sections more efficiently.

You need to physically touch each section — not just have it appear in the tower. So if a section appears but you fall before reaching it, it does not count. You need to land on it and make contact.

The Explorer badge previously awarded the legacy Blue Halo, but this was removed. It now contributes only toward the Purple Halo collection. The Blue Halo is currently obtainable through a different method (the Robux box), but the Explorer badge itself no longer directly rewards it.

For a full look at all 330 sections in the game and how they are categorized, see our Tower of Hell sections guide.

Difficulty: Hard (time investment and luck for rare sections)

Badge 8: Saboteur

How to unlock: Complete the full Saboteur secret section sequence and touch the Carmine Halo.

Halo reward: Carmine Halo

The Saboteur badge is the rarest badge in Tower of Hell. It was added on August 31, 2024, created by uwuPyxl and Kitten_Bites. It is also the only badge in the game that simultaneously rewards a halo — the Carmine Halo.

The Saboteur is not a single section but a multi-part sequence of five distinct secret sections with duplicates, making seven total. To complete Saboteur and earn the badge:

  • Play in a round where the Saboteur sections have spawned naturally in the tower. You must already be in the server before they spawn. Joining mid-round disqualifies you from the reward.
  • Navigate through The Core (the pulsing blue machine room), Coolant Sector (two lever rooms toggling pumps A and B), and Bunker Branch (a 480-degree spiral staircase).
  • Once the Bunker Door sections open, complete six random horizontal sections.
  • Reach the final room, wait for the last circular door to open, go to the center, and touch the Carmine Halo on the floor.
  • Both the Saboteur badge and Carmine Halo are awarded simultaneously.

Critical rules to remember:

  • You must be in the server before the section spawns. Joining during a round with the section already active means no reward.
  • Continuously rejoining a private server to force the section is also blocked. The game detects this and will not award the halo.
  • The Saboteur section cannot be found using the /skip command. It can still appear naturally in a private server without /filtersections active.
  • The community-recommended strategy is Pro Towers on a private server, using the “4/40 method” — toggling between the 4th and 40th floors to cycle rounds faster without using /skip.

As of early 2025, only dozens of players had earned the Carmine Halo legitimately since its release. Groups of players working together in private servers — watching for the section to spawn, then bringing friends in before the round begins — have been the most successful approach.

Difficulty: Extremely Hard (rare spawn, strict rules)

Badge 9: Certified Beast

How to unlock: Beat THE Tower of Hell (all 330 vanilla sections in one run).

Halo reward: Red Halo

THE Tower of Hell is a dedicated game mode accessible through the orange portal at the bottom of the lobby. It requires players to complete all 330 vanilla sections in a single run with no checkpoints. The sections are randomized in order (with a few fixed positions at the start and end) to prevent exploits.

THE Tower of Hell was brought back as a built-in game mode on December 13, 2024, along with a new version of the Certified Beast badge and the Red Halo. The original Certified Beast badge from the legacy game (which only 158 players ever earned) is a completely separate, unobtainable item — it was tied to an older version of the challenge that was removed due to exploits.

The current Certified Beast badge from the new THE Tower of Hell mode is a fresh badge with a fresh count of earners. Completing all 330 sections in one unbroken run is one of the hardest challenges in Roblox. Players have reported sessions lasting several hours, and a single fall sends you back to the beginning. There are known bugs — sections like Amazon Bridges and Leap of Faith have occasionally glitched, blocking completion. Staff verification has been required in a small number of cases where anti-cheat falsely flagged a legitimate run.

This badge does count toward the Purple Halo. It is effectively the hardest badge in the game for most players.

Difficulty: Extremely Hard (skill and time)

The Purple Halo: How to Get It

The Purple Halo is awarded automatically when you collect all 9 currently obtainable badges:

  • Newbie
  • Pro
  • Secret
  • Mutated
  • Maxed
  • Collector
  • Explorer
  • Saboteur
  • Certified Beast

Once the last badge in this list is earned, the Purple Halo appears in your inventory. You do not need to redeem it or do anything extra. It is one of the most recognized and respected halos in the Tower of Hell community because of how broad the requirements are — you need to grind XP, spend countless coins, touch hundreds of sections, get lucky with a rare secret section, and beat one of the hardest challenges in the game.

There is no shortcut. Every badge requires a different type of effort, and most players take months or years of regular play to complete all of them. The Saboteur badge in particular makes Purple Halo ownership extremely rare.

Unobtainable and Disabled Badges

Several badges exist in Tower of Hell’s history that can no longer be earned. It is important to know about them so you do not waste time chasing them.

Tourist Badge (Removed)

Previously awarded for visiting all secret sections. This badge — along with the Orange Halo it rewarded — was permanently removed on May 15, 2020. The developers felt it was encouraging players to server-hop and ignore the main game. Players who earned it before removal still have it in their badge inventory. The Orange Halo was removed from everyone’s inventories entirely. This badge no longer counts toward the Purple Halo.

RB Battles Championship Badge (Disabled)

Added on December 5, 2022 during the third RB Battles Championship event. The badge was earnable through the special Tower of Hell RB game mode, where players collected halo pieces across horizontal sections. The badge was disabled on March 9, 2023, and the Tower of Hell RB portal was removed on March 3, 2023. Players who obtained it before those dates still have it. It does not count toward the Purple Halo.

Legacy Certified Beast Badge (Unobtainable)

The original Certified Beast badge — earned by completing THE Tower of Hell in its legacy standalone game (which contained all 17 of ObrenTune’s original sections before the game was changed) — was made unobtainable due to an exploit. Only 158 players ever legitimately owned it. It is a completely separate badge from the current Certified Beast badge available through the new THE Tower of Hell game mode.

Badge Difficulty Ranking: Easiest to Hardest

  • 1. Newbie — Complete your first Noob Tower. Takes minutes.
  • 2. Pro — Complete your first Pro Tower. Takes a session or two.
  • 3. Mutated — All 7 coin mutators active. Easy with a private server and coins.
  • 4. Secret — Find any secret section. Easy with private server /skip cycling.
  • 5. Maxed — Level 80 + full Skill Tree. Long but consistent grind.
  • 6. Explorer — Touch all 330 sections. Long grind with rare section luck.
  • 7. Collector — All coin box effects. Massive coin sink with RNG.
  • 8. Certified Beast — Beat all 330 sections in one run. Pure skill and endurance.
  • 9. Saboteur — Find the Saboteur section and complete it. Rare spawn, strict entry rules, extreme patience required.

Tips for Completing All Badges Efficiently

  • Get Newbie and Pro early. These unlock naturally just by playing. Do not overthink them.
  • Use a private server for Mutated. Purchase all 7 mutators at the start of a round using the shop. No coordination with strangers needed.
  • Work on Explorer passively. Every round you play contributes. Check your section count occasionally to see what is missing, then use /filtersections in a private server to target specific ones.
  • Grind Maxed alongside Explorer. Playing regular rounds builds both XP and section touches simultaneously. Pro Towers are more efficient for XP per run.
  • Save coins steadily for Collector. Each round rewards coins for sections passed. Do not spend coins on mutators for fun until after Collector — save for boxes.
  • For Saboteur, be present in servers consistently. Play in groups with friends on a private server. Use the 4/40 method to cycle rounds. Never use /skip when hunting.
  • For Certified Beast, practice sections. Use a private server with /filtersections to practice the hardest sections individually before attempting a full run.
