ARC Raiders A Path Not Yours Quest Walkthrough Guide

    By Lilly Daniels · October 13, 2026 · 10 min read
ARC Raiders A Path Not Yours Quest

A Path Not Yours is a Nomadic Envoy quest added to ARC Raiders with the Frozen Trail update. Despite being part of the new Frozen Trail content, it does not send you to Pendola Pass. Instead, the whole thing happens on The Blue Gate, tucked into the southern part of the map. You follow an old Nomad trail, dig up a buried item, and carry it back to Speranza safely. Easy in concept — just do not lose the item on the way out.

    Key Takeaways

    • Quest comes from the Nomadic Envoy (Cassio) — unlocks after completing Taking Stock
    • You get 2x Ziplines for free when you accept the quest
    • Everything happens on The Blue Gate map — no Pendola Pass required
    • Head to the Highway Collapse in the southwestern section of the map
    • Inspect a glowing rock → follow the trail west → dig up the Broken Compass
    • Safe Pocket the Broken Compass immediately — losing it on death means redoing the run
    • There is also an optional secret stash inside Bilguun’s hideout if you want extra loot
    • Rewards: 2,500 XP, 1x Tellurion, 2x Magnet, 2x Battery, 2x Power Cable

Before You Drop — What to Prepare

The most important thing for this quest is having an augment with a Safe Pocket equipped. The Broken Compass you pick up needs to survive the extraction, and if you die with it sitting in your open inventory, it is gone. Put it in your Safe Pocket the moment you loot it — before anything else.

The Blue Gate sits at difficulty 4 out of 5, so this is not a casual beginner map. Bring a weapon you are comfortable with, spare ammo, and healing items. You do not need to clear the whole map, but a bad encounter can end the run and waste your time.

When you accept the quest from Cassio at the Nomadic Envoy traders in Speranza, you receive 2x Ziplines for free. The main objectives do not require them. If you want to grab the optional Bilguun secret stash, keep at least one Zipline on you — you will need it to reach the hideout inside the broken bridge span.

For tips on surviving tougher maps and using your gear efficiently, check our ARC Raiders tips and tricks guide and our Safe Pockets guide for exactly how item protection works.

Step 1 — Find the Start of the Nomad Trail Under Highway Collapse

Find the Start of the Nomad Trail Under Highway Collapse

Load into The Blue Gate and head south toward the Highway Collapse. This is the area in the southwestern part of the map where the bridge breaks apart into multiple collapsed sections. There are two main collapse points along this bridge — you want the first (eastern) collapse section to start.

Look for a glowing rock formation sitting roughly beneath the bridge. It will be on the ground among the rubble. Walk up and interact with it. The inspect animation takes several seconds to play through — you are just standing still while it runs. If there are ARC enemies or other Raiders nearby, throw a Smoke Grenade before interacting to stay hidden while the animation plays. Getting shot halfway through is annoying and avoidable.

Once the animation finishes, the objective updates and the quest points you west toward the Nomad hideout.

Step 2 — Follow the Trail Markers to the Nomad Hideout

Follow the Trail Markers to the Nomad Hideout
Follow the Trail Markers to the Nomad Hideout

From the first glowing rock, head west along the bridge toward the second collapse section. The game places trail markers along the route, but you do not need to follow each one individually. Just move west along the bridge toward the collapsed western section and the objective will update automatically once you reach it.

The collapsed western part of the bridge is where Bilguun’s hideout is. The hideout itself is inside the broken span of the bridge — a small opening up in the structure. You do not need to enter it for the main objectives, but it is where the optional secret stash is located.

As you move west, watch for ARC enemies patrolling the area around and beneath the bridge. The Blue Gate has a dynamic threat system and this open stretch under the bridge can be exposed. Move between the bridge pillars for cover as you travel.

Step 3 — Dig Up the Broken Compass at Bilguun’s Buried Cache

At the collapsed western section of the bridge, look at the base of the bridge pillar. There is a spot you can dig — the buried cache is right at the foot of the pillar. Interact with it to unearth Bilguun’s gift: the Broken Compass.

As soon as the item appears in your inventory, move it to your Safe Pocket immediately. Do not wait. Do not check the area first. The Broken Compass is lost on death if it is sitting in your regular inventory, and that means loading back in and doing the entire run again. Safe Pocket it first, then do whatever else you want to do on the map.

Optional — Loot Bilguun’s Secret Stash

    Loot Bilguuns Secret Stash
    Loot Bilguuns Secret Stash

This is entirely optional and not needed to complete the quest. After grabbing the Broken Compass, look up into the broken span of the bridge above you — there is a small opening up there. That is Bilguun’s hideout.

Use one of the Ziplines from the Nomadic Envoy to fire up into the gap and ride it in. Once inside, open the Secret Stash crate for bonus loot. One thing to know: opening the crate triggers a Deadline mine. It does no actual damage here and only sets off a firecracker-style effect, so do not panic when it goes off. It is just cosmetic. Grab the loot and get out.

Skip this entirely if you just want to finish the quest and extract quickly. The main rewards do not change either way.

Step 4 — Extract and Deliver the Broken Compass

With the Broken Compass safely in your Safe Pocket, head to the nearest extraction point. The Forest Airshaft is close to the bridge collapse area, so check if it is available first. Extract from The Blue Gate and return to Speranza.

Back at Speranza, go to Traders → Nomadic Envoys → Quests tab, find A Path Not Yours, and deliver the Broken Compass to Cassio. The quest completes once you hand it over and claim the reward screen.

Important: if you extracted without the Broken Compass in your inventory — for example, if you died and lost it, or accidentally left it behind — the delivery step will not be available. You need to run The Blue Gate again, dig it up again, and extract with it again before you can turn in the quest.

A Path Not Yours Quest Rewards

After delivering the Broken Compass and claiming the quest reward, you receive:

    • 2,500 XP
    • 1x Tellurion (epic trinket)
    • 2x Magnet
    • 2x Battery
    • 2x Power Cable

The Tellurion is an epic-tier trinket. You can sell it to pad your coin balance if you do not want to use it. The Magnets, Batteries, and Power Cables are better off going toward crafting rather than selling, since they come up regularly in component recipes.

For more on selling and recycling items efficiently, see our recycle and sell items guide.

Tips for Completing A Path Not Yours

    • Safe Pocket first, everything else second — the moment the Broken Compass lands in your inventory, move it. There is no scenario where waiting is worth the risk.
    • Throw a Smoke Grenade before inspecting the rock — the inspect animation is long and leaves you completely still. Smoke covers you while it plays.
    • You do not need to follow the trail markers exactly — just head west along the bridge. The hideout objective updates automatically when you reach the collapsed section.
    • The Deadline mine in the optional stash does nothing — do not waste a jump or a grenade trying to disarm it.
    • Forest Airshaft is your closest extraction — if it spawns near the bridge collapse, use it immediately after looting the compass. Do not risk a long run across the map with the item on you.
    • Blue Gate is difficulty 4/5 — do not underestimate this map. Bring proper gear, not throwaway low-tier stuff.

    Nomadic Envoy Quest Chain

A Path Not Yours is part of the Nomadic Envoy quest line that Cassio gives you through the Frozen Trail update. Here is where it fits in the chain:

    • Clean Hands — earlier quest in the Nomadic Envoy line
    • Taking Stock — the quest directly before A Path Not Yours
    • A Path Not Yours — current quest

For the complete overview of every quest in the game, our full ARC Raiders quest list has every mission tracked and linked. And if you are also working through Celeste’s quest line at the same time, check our Ruins and Reverberations walkthrough for that chain.

You can pick up the game on PlayStation or Xbox, or check the official ARC Raiders site for the latest patch notes and updates.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Highway Collapse on The Blue Gate?

The Highway Collapse is in the southwestern section of The Blue Gate map, where the bridge breaks into multiple collapsed sections. The glowing rock you need to inspect for the first objective is underneath the first (eastern) collapse point, near the base of the structure.

What is the Broken Compass and where do I find it?

The Broken Compass is the quest item for A Path Not Yours. It is buried at the base of a bridge pillar at the western collapsed section of Highway Collapse on The Blue Gate. Interact with the digging spot at the pillar to unearth it.

What happens if I die with the Broken Compass?

If the Broken Compass is in your regular inventory when you die, you lose it and have to run The Blue Gate again to dig it up. This is why putting it in your Safe Pocket the moment you loot it is so important — Safe Pocket items survive death.

Do I need to use the Ziplines for this quest?

Not for the main objectives. The two Ziplines Cassio gives you are only needed if you want to reach the optional secret stash inside Bilguun’s hideout, which sits inside the broken span of the bridge above the buried cache. You can ignore them entirely if you just want to finish the quest.

    What is Bilguun’s secret stash?

It is an optional loot crate inside the broken bridge span above the buried cache. Use a Zipline to reach the opening in the bridge, then open the crate. A Deadline mine triggers when you open it, but it causes no damage — it is just a visual effect. The stash is completely optional and skipping it does not affect your quest rewards.

What quest comes before A Path Not Yours?

The quest directly before A Path Not Yours in the Nomadic Envoy chain is Taking Stock. You need to complete that one first before Cassio offers this mission.
