Interact with it and wait until nightfall for the Padre to arrive. Once it’s dark enough, a cutscene triggers. The Padre explains that Bishop Ravenscroft only moves around at night — this is why you couldn’t track him earlier. You need to gather three clues from people around the city to figure out where exactly he goes after dark.
This is important: all three clues are near the shore. Don’t waste time searching inland or in the upper parts of Kingston. Stick close to the waterfront area and the market near the docks and you’ll find everything quickly.
All Three Bishop Clue Locations in The Other Cheek
Clue 1 — Warning Notice on the Market Board
The first clue is the easiest to find. Head to the middle of Kingston’s marketplace — the central square near the shore where merchants and civilians gather. Look for a notice board or post with papers pinned to it. Walk up to it and interact to read the warning notice. This is a public posting connected to the Bishop’s movement and marks the first clue as collected automatically. No enemies involved, no risk — just walk up and read it.
Clue 2 — Invitation Letter on a Civilian Near the Barn
The second clue requires a bit more work. Head toward the shore beside the barn — this is east of the market, close to the waterline. You’re looking for two civilians talking to each other near the barn’s entrance. One of them is carrying the invitation letter you need.
There are two ways to get it:
- Pickpocket: If you can get close enough without alarming them, pickpocket the civilian holding the letter. This is the quieter approach and keeps the area from going loud.
- Kill and loot: Eliminate the civilian and loot the invitation from the body. This is faster if you’re having trouble landing the pickpocket. Dispatching one civilian in Kingston won’t trigger a full city alert as long as you’re not spotted by soldiers nearby.
Either method gets you the letter. Once you have it, the second clue is marked complete.
Clue 3 — Civilian Conversation at the South Docks
The third and final clue is an eavesdrop. Continue south along the waterfront toward the docks. You’ll find another pair of civilians standing together, talking quietly. Listen to their conversation — they mention that the Bishop holds secret prayers in the forest at night, away from public view. Simply staying nearby and letting their dialogue play out is enough to register the clue. You don’t need to interact with anything or follow them anywhere.
Once the conversation ends, the third clue is collected and the quest objective updates.
How to Find and Eliminate Bishop Ravenscroft
With all three clues collected, return to the Padre at his marked position in Kingston. A cutscene plays and he pieces together the Bishop’s location from the clues you’ve gathered. After it ends, follow the Padre as he leads you through the forest path north of Kingston toward where the Bishop holds his secret gatherings.
Clearing the Forest Guards
As you push deeper into the forest, you’ll encounter groups of guards protecting the Bishop’s location. These aren’t elite soldiers — clear them out with whatever approach you prefer. Combat is the straightforward option here. The forest path is relatively linear so there’s not much risk of getting lost. Use Eagle Vision to spot guards before they spot you if you want to stay stealthy, and use the new crouch mechanic to stay low between tree lines. The guards don’t have alarm bells in this area, so even if you get spotted by one, it won’t bring down a full wave of reinforcements immediately.

Confronting the Bishop
At the end of the forest path you’ll find Bishop Ravenscroft surrounded by his remaining guards. Clear every enemy in the area before approaching the Bishop himself. Once all the guards are down, speak with the Bishop to trigger the final cutscene. It’s a tense conversation between him and the Padre — a proper narrative conclusion to Abel Galvão’s arc. After the cutscene ends, the Bishop is dealt with and the quest completes.
The Other Cheek Rewards
Completing The Other Cheek earns the Small Goblet trinket. This is a rare equippable trinket that increases the healing Edward receives from all food, drink, and remedies. Equip it from your loadout screen. It pairs well with any playstyle — the extra healing per item is a meaningful boost especially in tougher combat encounters and naval fights where you need to recover health between engagements. This also completes the Padre’s full storyline, wrapping up one of the more emotionally grounded character arcs in the new content.
Completing The Other Cheek also concludes all four of The Padre’s quests, meaning he’s now fully aboard the Jackdaw as your Master-at-Arms. He continues to join Edward during boarding actions and fort sieges, fighting on deck alongside the crew.
Do You Need to Finish The Other Cheek to Recruit the Padre?
No. The Padre officially joins the Jackdaw and Ram Dash unlocks after completing the second quest — Loyalty, Discipline, and Courage. You don’t need to finish Cape of Good Hope or The Other Cheek to get him or his ability. Those last two quests are bonus story content with extra rewards. That said, the Small Goblet trinket from The Other Cheek is genuinely useful, and the Padre’s story doesn’t feel complete without seeing it through to the end. If you want every reward and the full narrative payoff, finishing all four quests is worth it.
Remember that The Padre’s first two quests are also a hard requirement for progressing the A World Without Gold chapter later in the game.
