Bared Fang is one of those quests where the game gives you a rough idea of what to do and then leaves you to figure out the details yourself. The eavesdropping mechanic shows up here for the first time, and the in-game tutorial for it is genuinely incomplete. How Eavesdropping Works In Crimson Desert
Before you start, it helps to understand the mechanic itself. The game tells you to hold L1 (LB on Xbox) to eavesdrop. What it forgets to mention is that you must first lean against a wall by pushing the left stick into it. Only once you’re leaning will the L1 prompt appear in the corner of the screen. Hold it until the Secret Conversation meter fills.
If you’re not leaning, nothing will happen. That’s what trips most people up.
How To Eavesdrop On Beighen Villagers (First Location)
Head to the red barn on the east edge of Beighen village. This is where two men are having a conversation inside.
- Destroy the wooden piles stacked outside the barn. This briefly alerts the villagers, but they settle back down quickly. Just wait a moment and ignore them.
- Walk around to the side of the barn and find the wall between the two windows.
- Push your left stick into the wall to lean against it.
- Hold L1/LB until the Secret Conversation meter fills completely.
Once done, your objective updates to “Find a way to make contact with the secret organization.”
How To Make Contact With The Secret Organization
Follow the quest marker to the central building. A guard is standing outside the main doors. Talk to him and use the dialogue options in this exact order:
- Select Question: “The Truth of the Underground Storage”
- Press X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) to Lie
- Select Evidence: “Secret Society’s Base”
After this, back out of the dialogue window. Your new objective becomes “Find a clue about the mysterious faction.”
How To Find A Clue About The Mysterious Faction (Second Eavesdrop)
Close to the Street Vendor, look for another red building. Two NPCs are chatting near the back of it.
- Head to the side of the building and look for a log on the ground near the wall. Move it out of the way if it’s blocking your path.
- Lean against the wall by pushing the left stick into it.
- Hold L1/LB to eavesdrop until the meter fills.
Now return to the guard and continue the conversation:
- Select Question: “Mysterious Faction within Beighen”
- Press X/A to Lie
- Select Evidence: “Blue Fangs”
Exit the dialogue when done. Your objective now becomes “Find a clue about the leader of the Blue Fangs.”
How To Find A Clue About The Leader Of The Blue Fangs (Third Eavesdrop)
Close to the same guard, find the red building with two women talking inside.
- Go around to the exterior of the building and destroy the wooden planks blocking access to the wall.
- On the south side of the building, there is a small hole in the wall. Look for a corner near the wooden crates.
- Lean against the wall and hold L1/LB to eavesdrop on the women’s conversation.
Head back to the guard one final time:
- Select Question: “Leader of the Blue Fangs”
- Press X/A to Lie
- Select Evidence: “Torstein”
The guard will now grant you access.
How To Enter The Underground Base
To the left of the guard is a small shack. Look for a hatch on the ground near it. Interact with the hatch and climb down. A cutscene will play, and you’ll enter the secret underground base — completing Bared Fang and moving on to the next mission.

Tips For This Quest
- Always lean first. Push the left stick into the wall before trying to hold L1/LB. Nothing will work otherwise.
- Don’t panic when villagers react. Destroying the wooden piles and planks causes a brief reaction, but the NPCs always return to their conversation. Just wait a few seconds.
- Follow quest markers between eavesdrops. Each new objective updates your map marker. Use it rather than searching the whole village.
- You must do all three eavesdrops. You cannot skip straight to the final answer. The guard only unlocks each new dialogue option after you’ve gathered the right clue.
