Before we get into the fight, here’s what you’re working with:

Where to Find the Electro-Mecha Longsword — Marni’s Outpost Location

The Electro-Mecha Longsword drops from the Machina Knight, found at Marni’s Outpost in the Deleysia region.

To find it:

• Open your world map and look for the word “Gorthak.”
• Marni’s Outpost sits just north of the “K” in Gorthak.
• It’s in the far eastern part of Deleysia.

The area is filled with dangerous robots before you even reach the boss. Don’t rush through — clear them carefully so you’re in good shape when the main fight starts.

There are no quest prerequisites. You can go there at any point in the game. That said, this is a tough two-phase boss, so we recommend going mid-to-late game when your gear and skills are in better shape. Once you arrive at the outpost and enter the arena, the fight begins automatically.

How to Beat the Machina Knight — Full Boss Guide

The Machina Knight is a two-phase fight. The strategy that works in Phase 1 will get you killed in Phase 2. Pay attention to the shift.

Phase 1 — Machina Knight with Longsword

This phase is manageable once you learn the rhythm.

The Machina Knight opens with his longsword and hits you with a three-hit combo. Every swing in that chain can be parried. Press L1 at the right moment — whether you’re using a shield or your weapon — to block and break the combo.

After a successful parry, you get a small window to attack. Keep your hits short and fast. Don’t get greedy. One or two quick strikes, then reset to a defensive stance and wait for his next combo.

Turning Slash (R1 + R2) is your best friend here. It deals solid damage and actually cancels the Machina Knight’s attack animation mid-swing. A solid loop for this phase:

1. Use Turning Slash
2. Parry the counter
3. Turning Slash again
4. Repeat

Stay patient. Don’t try to force damage. Let him come to you, parry, then punish. Keep doing this until he drops to around 50% health, and Phase 2 begins.

Phase 2 — Machina Knight with Spear

This is where the fight gets difficult.

Once he hits 50% health, the Machina Knight drops the longsword and picks up a spear. Everything changes.

He becomes much faster and far more aggressive. He hits harder and gives you fewer recovery windows. If you try to parry him the same way you did in Phase 1, you’ll burn through your stamina fast and leave yourself completely open.

Switch your approach entirely:

• Stop relying on parries. Parrying spear attacks is technically possible, but it drains your stamina too fast. Save parries for emergencies only.
• Dodge-roll everything. That becomes your default response to all his attacks. Evade and reposition constantly.
• Watch for his invulnerable phases. During these windows, the Machina Knight fires seeking cubes that track your position. You cannot block them. Dodge-roll through them and keep moving until the invulnerability ends.
• Build his stun meter. Keep landing attacks — especially Turning Slash — to fill up his stun meter. Once he’s stunned, that’s your moment to deal real damage.

The biggest mistake players make in Phase 2 is playing it like Phase 1. That gets you killed. Stay mobile, stay patient, and let the stun meter do the work.

Getting the Electro-Mecha Longsword

Once the Machina Knight goes down, the Electro-Mecha Longsword is added to your inventory automatically. No extra steps, no crafting, no turn-ins needed. Just equip it and go.

Every melee hit you land with this sword triggers the Lightning Affinity effect. That means consistent stun buildup against almost everything you fight. For mid-game content especially, this weapon punches well above its weight.

Yes, it can’t be upgraded and doesn’t take Abyss Gears. That does limit how far it can carry you in the very late game. But for the bulk of Crimson Desert’s content, it’s a reliable and satisfying main weapon — and it just feels great to use.
