TL;DR
- Craft the basic Glider early using a Workbench — you just need Shroud Wood, Animal Fur, String, and Shroud Spores.
- There are 4 gliders in total: Basic, Advanced, Extraordinary, and Ghost Glider.
- Advanced and Extraordinary Gliders are crafted at the Carpenter NPC.
- The Ghost Glider is found inside a chest at the Sun Temple in the Kindlewastes biome.
- Gliding uses Stamina — if it runs out mid-air, you will fall and take damage.
Why You Need a Glider in Enshrouded
If you’re new to Enshrouded, the map can feel overwhelming. There are cliffs, valleys, Shroud-filled gorges, and huge distances between places. Walking everywhere takes forever. That’s where the glider comes in.
The glider lets you jump off high ground and soar to lower areas. You won’t take fall damage while gliding. It also helps you cross Shroud-covered valleys safely without landing inside the fog. As you progress, better gliders give you more speed and range, making the open world of Embervale much easier to explore.
Think of it as one of the first tools you should always prioritize. Pair it with a Grappling Hook and you’ll be moving around the map like a pro in no time.
How Many Gliders Are There in Enshrouded?
There are 4 Gliders in Enshrouded. Each one is better than the last in terms of range, speed, and stamina drain. Here’s a quick overview:
- Glider – Common tier, crafted at the Workbench early game. Range 100%, Speed 10.
- Advanced Glider – Rare tier, crafted at the Carpenter. Range 150%, Speed 15.
- Extraordinary Glider – Epic tier, crafted at the Carpenter. Range 200%, Speed 20.
- Ghost Glider – Legendary tier, found in the Sun Temple. Range 250%, Speed 25.
The higher the tier, the further and faster you fly on the same amount of Stamina. Upgrading your glider is one of the best things you can do as you level up.

How to Craft the Basic Glider in Enshrouded
You can get the basic Glider very early in the game. All you need is a Workbench. Once you have one placed at your base, the Glider recipe appears automatically — no unlocking required.
Glider Recipe (Basic)
- 8x Shroud Wood
- 2x Animal Fur
- 2x String
- 2x Shroud Spores
At the Workbench, head to the Survival section and you’ll find the Glider listed there. Once you have the materials, craft it and you’re done.

Where to Get Each Material
Shroud Wood — Go into the Shroud. You’ll find shrouded trees there. Chop them down with your axe. The area just below the bridge north of Longkeep is a safe early spot to find Shroud Wood without too much danger.
Animal Fur — Kill animals like wolves or goats. Goats are an easy early target and drop two Animal Fur each. Wolves near Braelyn Bridge also drop fur quickly.
String — Craft String from Plant Fiber. You get Plant Fiber by harvesting bushes and leafy shrubs scattered around the starting area. Open your manual crafting menu and convert the fibers into String.
Shroud Spores — Kill enemies inside the Shroud. Fell creatures that spawn in those foggy zones drop 1–2 Shroud Spores each. You only need two, so a few quick fights will do it.
How to Equip the Glider
Once crafted, open your Character menu. There’s a dedicated Glider slot. Right-click the Glider from your inventory or drag it into that slot. After that, it’s ready to use whenever you’re airborne.

How to Use the Glider in Enshrouded
Using the glider is simple once it’s equipped. Jump from a high ledge or while in mid-air, then press Spacebar (PC) to deploy it. On controller, it’s the same jump button pressed again while airborne.
- W/S — Move forward to speed up, pull back to slow down and stay in the air longer.
- A/D — Steer left or right during flight.
The higher you launch from, the longer your glide will be. A cliff or mountain gives you much more travel distance than a small hill.
One thing to watch — your Stamina drains while you’re gliding. If it hits zero mid-flight, you stop gliding and fall straight down. That can kill you. Always watch the stamina bar and try to reach the ground before it runs out. You can cancel the glide early and then re-deploy it just before landing to save stamina.

How to Get the Advanced Glider in Enshrouded
The Advanced Glider is a big upgrade over the basic one. It flies faster and covers more ground per Stamina point. To get it, you need to rescue the Carpenter NPC and progress through the Hunter’s quest chain.
Steps to Unlock the Advanced Glider
- Find and rescue the Carpenter survivor and give him a sheltered bed at your base.
- Progress through the Hunter’s quests until you can craft Linen at the Hand Spindle.
- Once you craft Linen for the first time, the Carpenter will offer the quest “A Graceful Flight”, which unlocks the Advanced Glider recipe.
- Head to the Carpenter’s crafting menu and build it.
Advanced Glider Recipe
- 6x Shroud Wood
- 4x Linen
- 4x String
- 8x Shroud Sack
Linen is made at the Hand Spindle using 2 Flax per piece. Flax is found in the Revelwood biome. Shroud Sack drops from larger Fell enemies inside the Shroud. You’ll likely have some from exploring before you even need them.
The Advanced Glider has a 150% range and Speed 15, compared to the basic glider’s 100% range and Speed 10. It also uses less Stamina per second, which means longer, smoother flights.
How to Get the Extraordinary Glider in Enshrouded
The Extraordinary Glider is the third tier and a notable upgrade again. You still need the Carpenter to craft it, but this time the unlock trigger is obtaining Leather for the first time.
Extraordinary Glider Recipe
- 4x Shroud Wood
- 2x Leather
- 2x Linen
- 15x Shroud Adhesive
To get Leather, you need to craft it using materials like Animal Hide and Ammonia Gland (dropped from certain Fell creatures). Once you have your first piece of Leather, the Extraordinary Glider recipe unlocks at the Carpenter automatically.
This glider hits 200% range and Speed 20 — double the range of the basic glider and noticeably faster. If you’re doing a lot of mid-game exploration, this one will save you a ton of time.
How to Get the Ghost Glider in Enshrouded
The Ghost Glider is the best glider in the game — legendary rarity, 250% range, and Speed 25. Unlike the others, you don’t craft it first. You find it.
Where to Find the Ghost Glider
The Ghost Glider is located inside a chest at the top of the Sun Temple, found in the Kindlewastes biome in the southeast part of the map. This is a late-game area, so make sure you’re around level 30 before heading there. Bring strong armor and a good ranged weapon.
Climb all the way to the top of the Sun Temple tower. At the summit, you’ll find a glowing golden chest. Open it to receive the Ghost Glider. Doing this also unlocks the crafting recipe at the Carpenter, so you can rebuild it later if needed.
Ghost Glider Crafting Recipe (After Finding It)
- 3x Shroud Wood
- 4x Enshrouded Oil
Once you’ve looted the Ghost Glider from the chest, the Carpenter can craft more of them using the recipe above. Enshrouded Oil is an alchemical resource crafted at the Alchemist’s station using materials found in late-game areas.
The Ghost Glider is 25% faster and 25% further range than the Extraordinary Glider. For endgame exploration and traversal through the Kindlewastes, it’s essential.
All Enshrouded Gliders Compared
Here’s a quick side-by-side of all four gliders so you know what you’re working toward:
- Glider — Range 100%, Speed 10 | Crafted at Workbench | Level 1
- Advanced Glider — Range 150%, Speed 15 | Crafted at Carpenter | Level 10
- Extraordinary Glider — Range 200%, Speed 20 | Crafted at Carpenter | Level 20
- Ghost Glider — Range 250%, Speed 25 | Found at Sun Temple / Carpenter | Level 30
Every upgrade is worth it. Don’t sit on the basic glider longer than you need to. As soon as you rescue the Carpenter and start working with Linen, make the Advanced Glider your next goal.
Tips to Get More Out of Your Glider in Enshrouded
A few things that make a real difference when you’re flying around Embervale:
- Always glide from higher ground. The higher your launch point, the more distance you cover. Mountains and cliff edges are ideal.
- Watch your Stamina constantly. Running out mid-air is a death sentence. Consider investing Skill points into Stamina upgrades so you have more time in the air.
- Don’t glide into the Shroud by accident. If you’re flying fast, it’s easy to drift into a Shroud zone. The Shroud timer still counts down while you’re gliding.
- Cancel and redeploy. You can cancel your glide and then deploy it again just before landing. This helps you save Stamina on longer flights.
- Upgrade to the next glider as soon as possible. The better gliders drain Stamina slower, which makes a surprisingly big difference over long travel distances.
- Pair it with the Grappling Hook. Grapple to a high point, then glide from there for maximum range.

Final Thoughts on Getting a Glider in Enshrouded
The Glider is one of the first things you should craft when you start Enshrouded. It removes so much frustration from early exploration — no more falling off cliffs, no more long detours around Shroud zones. And as you progress and unlock better versions, it keeps getting more and more useful right through to endgame.
Start with the basic Glider the moment your Workbench is up. Then aim for the Advanced Glider as soon as you find the Carpenter. By the time you’re chasing the Ghost Glider at the Sun Temple, you’ll wonder how you ever played without one.
