Firefly Build Guide HSR – Best Relics, Light Cones, Teams & Eidolons
- Firefly (SAM) is a 5-star Fire Destruction DPS whose entire damage output comes from Super Break DMG — not CRIT stats. Never build CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, or Fire DMG Bonus on her.
- She transforms into her mechanical armour SAM via Complete Combustion, gaining massive SPD, Fire Weakness implant on multiple enemies, and enhanced abilities that convert Toughness Reduction into Super Break DMG.
- She received significant Novaflare buffs in Version 4.2 (April 22, 2026) — Enhanced Skill now implants Fire Weakness on the primary target and adjacent enemies, Weakness Breaks now extend her Complete Combustion timer, and Super Break thresholds were lowered.
- Best Light Cone: Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest (her signature). Best F2P: On the Fall of an Aeon (Herta Store).
- Best Relics: Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge (4-piece) + Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern (Planar Ornament).
- Best team: Firefly / The Dahlia / Tingyun • Fugue / Lingsha — The Dahlia is her definitive best support as of 4.3.
- Stat targets: Break Effect 300%+ in combat, SPD 150+ base (210+ in Complete Combustion), ATK 2,600+.
- E1 is the first investment priority — ignores 15% of enemy DEF on Enhanced Skill and makes Enhanced Skill SP-free.
- Her last banner was Version 4.2 Phase 1 (April 21 – May 13, 2026). Watch for future reruns.
- Rated T0.5 in MoC, PF, and AS as of patch 4.3 — still one of the strongest Break DPS characters in the game.

Who Is Firefly in Honkai Star Rail?
Firefly is a 5-star Fire character following the Path of Destruction in Honkai Star Rail. She debuted in Version 2.3 (July 2024) and was immediately one of the most popular and powerful DPS characters in the game. As of patch 4.3, she is rated T0.5 across Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow — still among the best Break DPS options available, particularly dominant in Apocalyptic Shadow boss content where Toughness bars are prominent.
In the game’s lore, Firefly is a member of the Stellaron Hunters known as SAM — a young girl clad in mechanical armour, born as a weapon and afflicted with Entropy Loss Syndrome due to genetic modification. She joined the Stellaron Hunters in search of the meaning of life, relentlessly pursuing ways to defy fate. Her storyline is one of the most emotionally resonant in the game, and her relationship with the Trailblazer forms one of HSR’s most talked-about narrative arcs. Her transformation into SAM combat form is visually spectacular and mechanically satisfying.
Firefly received her Novaflare buffs in Version 4.2 (April 22, 2026), which significantly improved her multi-target performance and Super Break damage output. The Novaflare changes are estimated to represent roughly a 70% DPS increase for Firefly teams when combined with The Dahlia support. This guide covers the fully buffed post-4.2 version of her kit. Her most recent banner was Version 4.2 Phase 1 alongside The Dahlia (April 21 – May 13, 2026). For official patch details, check the HoYoverse official Honkai Star Rail news page.
Firefly Kit Overview – How Her Abilities Work
Firefly’s kit is fundamentally different from most DPS characters in HSR. She does not deal CRIT-based damage. She does not benefit from ATK% buffs beyond a specific conversion threshold. Her entire damage output flows through the Super Break mechanic — a special damage type that triggers when she attacks Weakness-Broken enemies and converts Toughness Reduction into raw damage. Understanding Super Break is the key to understanding everything about how to build and play her.
Super Break — The Core Damage Type
Super Break DMG is triggered when Firefly attacks an enemy whose Toughness bar is at 0 (Weakness Broken state). Each hit that converts Toughness Reduction generates a Super Break DMG instance. The formula for Super Break is:
- Base: Toughness Reduced × Break Effect% × multiplier from abilities × enemy vulnerability modifiers
Key consequences of this formula: CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG have zero effect on Super Break DMG. Fire DMG Bonus does not boost Super Break DMG. Only Break Effect%, Speed (which affects Toughness Reduction per action), ATK (up to a conversion cap), and multipliers from abilities and supports matter. This completely inverts the stat priorities compared to every other DPS character in the game. Never chase CRIT stats on Firefly — they are wasted relic rolls.
Basic Attack – Order: Flare Propulsion
Deals Fire DMG to one enemy at 50% ATK. Generates 20 Energy. Rarely used outside of situations where Skill Points are exhausted. In Complete Combustion, replaced by the Enhanced Basic ATK.
Basic Attack (Enhanced) – Fyrefly Type-IV: Pyrogenic Decimation
Available in Complete Combustion. Restores HP equal to 20% of SAM’s Max HP and deals Fire DMG to one designated enemy at 200% ATK. Does not consume SP. This HP self-restore is critical for sustaining Firefly through the HP costs of her pre-Combustion Skill uses.
Skill – Order: Aerial Bombardment
Outside Complete Combustion, this Skill consumes 40% of Firefly’s Max HP and regenerates a fixed 60 Energy. It advances her action by 25% and deals 200% ATK Fire DMG to the target. You will use this ability primarily to build Energy toward the Ultimate. The HP cost is the cost of doing business — Firefly’s kit expects her to spend HP to generate the Energy needed for Complete Combustion. The HP is restored during the transformation.
Skill (Enhanced) – Fyrefly Type-IV: Deathstar Overload
The most impactful ability in Firefly’s kit after the Novaflare buff. In Complete Combustion:
- Restores HP equal to 25% of SAM’s Max HP.
- Implants Fire Weakness on the primary target and all adjacent enemies for 2 turns — this is the Novaflare key change. Previously single-target only; now AoE.
- Deals Fire DMG scaled off Break Effect (capped at 360%) — primary target takes double the multiplier of adjacent targets.
- When attacking a Weakness-Broken enemy with Break Effect ≥ 150% (or ≥ 300% for maximum effect): converts Toughness Reduction into Super Break DMG at 100% or 150% rate respectively. The 150% conversion at 300%+ Break Effect is the target for full power.
- E1 makes this Enhanced Skill cost 0 SP.
Ultimate – Fyrefly Type-IV: Complete Combustion
Firefly’s Ultimate transforms her into SAM, entering the Complete Combustion state. During Complete Combustion:
- SAM’s SPD increases massively — target 210+ SPD in Combustion for maximum action economy.
- SAM gains 25% additional Break Effect (Novaflare buff).
- All of SAM’s attacks ignore Weakness Type to reduce enemy Toughness — she can break any enemy regardless of what element they are weak to.
- Enhanced Basic ATK and Enhanced Skill are now available.
- The Combustion state ends after a countdown. Each Weakness Break she inflicts via Enhanced Basic ATK or Enhanced Skill extends the countdown by 10%, up to 3 times per Combustion window (Novaflare buff). This rewards fast, aggressive breaking.
- When HP drops to a certain threshold, Complete Combustion ends and Firefly returns to normal form.
Getting back to Complete Combustion as quickly as possible after exiting is Firefly’s entire rotation. Her Skill’s 60 Energy regeneration and 25% action advance make this cycle relatively fast with the right supports.
Talent – Chrysalid Wish
When Firefly is in Complete Combustion and her HP falls to a very low level (below a threshold), she resists being knocked down and instead enters a special state where she regenerates HP. When enemy targets enter Weakness Break, their Weakness Break DMG taken increases. This Talent essentially makes Firefly functionally unkillable in Complete Combustion as long as Break DMG is flowing — she heals from Enhanced Basic ATK, heals from Enhanced Skill, and the Talent prevents knockdown even when HP is critically low.
A2 Trace – Module β: Autoreactive Armor
When using her Skill outside Complete Combustion, the HP consumed is reduced when her current HP is below 50%. This makes the pre-Combustion Skill spam less dangerous at low HP — the system limits how much HP can be drained below the threshold, protecting her from accidentally killing herself while building Energy.
A4 Trace – Δ Order: Meteoric Incineration
For every 10 points of Firefly’s ATK that exceeds 1,800, her Break Effect increases by 0.8%. This is the ATK-to-Break Effect conversion trace that makes ATK% main stats valuable on her Sphere and Rope — not for ATK itself, but as a conversion mechanism into Break Effect. It caps at a certain point, making additional ATK beyond the conversion limit less efficient. This is why you build ATK% on the Sphere instead of Fire DMG Bonus — the ATK converts to Break Effect, which is her actual damage stat.
A6 Trace – Module γ: Core Overload
In Complete Combustion, Firefly’s Weakness Break Efficiency increases by 50%. This means she reduces Toughness bars 50% faster during Combustion — breaking enemies more quickly, triggering Super Break sooner, and extending Combustion through the new Novaflare mechanic. Also reduces the effect of Damage Reduction and Shield effects that enemies have during the Weakness Break state.
Firefly Best Light Cones in HSR
Firefly follows the Path of Destruction. Only Destruction path Light Cones activate passive effects on her. Her Light Cone priority is Break Effect first, then ATK (for the conversion), then general DMG amplification. CRIT-based Light Cones provide zero value.
Whereabouts Should Dreams Rest (Signature – Best in Slot)
Firefly’s 5-star signature is the best option and the cornerstone of her endgame build. It provides 60% Break Effect directly — the single largest Break Effect bonus from any Light Cone. When Firefly deals Break DMG, she inflicts the Routed debuff on the enemy for 2 turns, causing enemies with Routed to take 24% more DMG. The 60% Break Effect is massive for reaching the 300%+ threshold needed for maximum Super Break conversion. The Routed vulnerability debuff adds a multiplicative damage layer that applies to all her damage types. This Light Cone alone pushes Firefly’s ceiling significantly beyond any alternative and is the recommended investment alongside her character banner.
On the Fall of an Aeon (5-Star – Best F2P Option)
Obtainable from the Herta Store with Herta Bonds. It provides a stacking ATK% bonus through combat use. While its direct damage increase effect does not apply to Super Break (which doesn’t care about DMG% bonuses), its high base ATK and ATK% stacking feed directly into the A4 trace ATK-to-Break Effect conversion. At high stack count, this is a competitive free option. Always obtain this from the Herta Store if you lack the signature — it is the clear best alternative at zero pull cost.
Phainon’s Signature – Thus Burns the Dawn (5-Star Alternative)
A surprisingly competitive alternative for Firefly if you have this from Phainon’s banner. It provides the highest base ATK in the game (687), which converts into Break Effect through the A4 trace. The 12 base SPD bonus also helps reach Firefly’s SPD targets. The permanent 18% DEF ignore on all attacks applies to Break DMG as well. While not Firefly’s dedicated signature, the raw ATK and DEF ignore make it better than most alternatives in a slot comparison.
Indelible Promise (4-Star – Best Budget Option)
A 4-star Destruction Light Cone that directly provides Break Effect at 48% at S5. The easiest Break Effect boost from a Light Cone that doesn’t require Herta Bonds or limited pulls. Use this as a placeholder while farming the Herta Store for On the Fall of an Aeon, or if you need to push the 300% Break Effect threshold without a 5-star option.
Firefly Best Relics in HSR
Before going through specific sets, there are three critical rules for Firefly’s relics that override everything else:
- Never use Fire DMG Bonus on Planar Sphere. Super Break DMG is not boosted by element DMG bonuses. Fire DMG Bonus is a completely wasted main stat.
- Never chase CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG substats. Super Break DMG does not crit. Every CRIT substat roll is wasted. Prioritize Break Effect%, SPD, and ATK%.
- Break Effect is king. Target 300%+ in combat for maximum Super Break conversion rate from the Enhanced Skill.
Best 4-Piece Relic Set: Iron Cavalry Against the Scourge
This is Firefly’s best-in-slot relic set. The 2-piece provides 16% Break Effect. The 4-piece is the key: if Break Effect ≥ 150%, ignore 15% of enemy DEF when dealing Break DMG. If Break Effect ≥ 250%, the DMG dealt by Super Break DMG additionally ignores 25% of enemy DEF. At 300%+ Break Effect in combat, both conditions are active simultaneously — a combined 40% DEF ignore on all Super Break hits. This is a massive penetration bonus that stacks with supports’ DEF reduction effects. Farm this set specifically for Firefly.
Alternative: Thief of Shooting Meteor (4-Piece)
An older Break Effect set. The 2-piece gives 16% Break Effect. The 4-piece gives 16% more Break Effect and restores 3 Energy after triggering Weakness Break. Strong for Energy cycle management (faster Ultimates = faster Combustion reactivation) but provides less direct damage amplification than Iron Cavalry’s DEF ignore. Use this if you have excellent Thief pieces while farming for Iron Cavalry.
Alternative: 2-Piece Iron Cavalry + 2-Piece Watchmaker (or Thief)
A viable mid-transition combination. Iron Cavalry 2-piece’s 16% Break Effect pairs with Watchmaker’s 2-piece 16% Break Effect for 32% total from relic sets. Slightly below Iron Cavalry’s full 4-piece potential but works well if either set has better substats than a complete 4-piece Iron Cavalry run.
Best Planar Ornament: Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern
Firefly’s best Planar Ornament. It provides SPD% and, when the wearer attacks an enemy afflicted with Fire Weakness, increases Break Effect by 40% for 1 turn. Since Firefly implants Fire Weakness herself through her Enhanced Skill, this 40% bonus is essentially always active during Complete Combustion. The SPD% contributes to her base SPD, which compounds with Combustion’s SPD bonus to push her toward 210+ SPD in Combustion. Farm this specifically in Simulated Universe.
Alternative Planar Ornament: Talia: Kingdom of Banditry
Provides Break Effect and additional Break Effect when SPD reaches 145 or above. The flat Break Effect from Talia is meaningful for reaching the 300% threshold. If your SPD is reliably above 145 base, this gives consistent Break Effect. Use it as a placeholder while farming Forge of the Kalpagni Lantern.
Relic Main Stats to Target
- Head: HP (fixed)
- Hands: ATK (fixed)
- Body: ATK% — feeds the A4 trace ATK-to-Break Effect conversion. Not Break Effect% here because Break Effect% on the rope covers that role more efficiently.
- Feet: SPD — mandatory. Higher SPD means more actions in Combustion, more Toughness Reduction per cycle, and more Super Break DMG triggers.
- Planar Sphere: ATK% — feeds the A4 conversion. Do NOT use Fire DMG Bonus.
- Link Rope: Break Effect% — directly boosts the core damage stat. This is Firefly’s most important Link Rope main stat. Do not use Energy Regeneration Rate — her Skill provides fixed 60 Energy per use.
Key Substat Priority
Break Effect% is the top substat priority — stack as much as possible toward 300%+ in combat. SPD substats help reach the 150 base / 210 in Combustion targets. ATK% substats feed the A4 conversion. Avoid CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and Effect Hit Rate entirely. Never roll Break Effect% substats against the targets.
Stat Targets
- Break Effect: 300%+ in combat (for maximum Super Break conversion at 150% rate in Enhanced Skill)
- SPD: 150+ base (results in 210+ in Complete Combustion with the state’s SPD bonus)
- ATK: 2,600+ (beyond this, additional ATK contributes diminishing returns through the A4 conversion)
Firefly Best Teams in HSR 4.3
Firefly’s team building is heavily constrained by one requirement: she needs supports who enhance Super Break DMG and Break Effect, not CRIT-scaling or ATK-scaling buffers. Most generic Harmony supports (Robin, Sunday) provide limited value because their buffs don’t apply to Super Break. The Break archetype has its own dedicated support ecosystem.
The key rule: Trailblazer (Harmony) is the Super Break enabler. Without HMC, most of the team’s damage does not benefit from Super Break. Run HMC or Fugue in every Firefly team.
Premium Team: Firefly / The Dahlia / Tingyun • Fugue / Lingsha
This is Firefly’s best team as of patch 4.3. The Dahlia is Firefly’s definitive best support — she enables Super Break DMG even on enemies that are not yet Weakness Broken (through her Gloomy Zone), increases the team’s Break Efficiency, and synergises directly with the Novaflare buff’s AoE Fire Weakness implant. Tingyun • Fugue is Firefly’s dedicated Break support — she increases all allies’ Break Effect and Super Break multipliers, applies Exo-Toughness to all enemies for an extra Break DMG instance, and provides Foxian Prayer to Lingsha for Weakness Type ignore. Lingsha handles sustain while dealing AoE Toughness DMG and applying a 25% Break DMG Taken debuff to all enemies. The combined Break Effect, RES PEN, and vulnerability from this team pushes Firefly’s Super Break numbers to extraordinary levels.
Classic Premium Team: Firefly / Ruan Mei / Trailblazer (Harmony) / Lingsha
The original gold standard Firefly team before The Dahlia’s release. Ruan Mei provides 50% Weakness Break Efficiency (enemies take 50% more Toughness damage), a passive DMG% buff, and SPD bonus — all extremely valuable for Firefly. Trailblazer (Harmony) is the Super Break enabler — without HMC’s passive, Super Break DMG does not amplify for the whole team. Lingsha sustains and adds Break DMG Taken debuffs. This team remains very strong and is the recommended path if you do not have The Dahlia yet.
Dahlia + HMC Team: Firefly / The Dahlia / Trailblazer (Harmony) / Gallagher
An accessible premium setup that runs The Dahlia alongside the classic Trailblazer (Harmony) slot. This avoids needing Fugue while still benefiting from The Dahlia’s Gloomy Zone and Break Efficiency. Gallagher handles sustain efficiently with his Besotted debuff increasing Break DMG Taken on enemies. A strong team for players who have The Dahlia but not Fugue.
Accessible Budget Team: Firefly / Ruan Mei / Trailblazer (Harmony) / Gallagher
The best accessible Firefly team for players without The Dahlia or Lingsha. Ruan Mei and HMC cover the support slots. Gallagher is a 4-star healer with solid Break synergy — his Ultimate applies Besotted on enemies (Break DMG Taken debuff) and his healing output is strong. This team clears all endgame content reliably and was Firefly’s most-played composition in competitive MoC for a long time.
F2P Team: Firefly / Trailblazer (Harmony) / Pela / Gallagher
The most accessible Firefly team. Trailblazer (Harmony) is free with E6 from Penacony story completion. Pela provides DEF reduction and is a free 4-star. Gallagher was distributed as an event 4-star. This team does not reach the ceiling of premium setups but is entirely viable for Memory of Chaos and provides a solid platform to upgrade from.
Key Support Partner Notes
- The Dahlia — Best support for Firefly. Gloomy Zone enables Super Break on non-broken enemies. Best new addition in 4.2/4.3.
- Tingyun • Fugue — Dedicated Break support. Break Effect buff, Super Break multiplier increase, Exo-Toughness. Should be prioritised over Trailblazer (Harmony) if you have both.
- Ruan Mei — 50% Weakness Break Efficiency + SPD bonus + passive DMG%. Essential for faster breaking and more Super Break triggers per cycle.
- Trailblazer (Harmony) — Free Super Break enabler. E6 freely obtainable. Run in every team without Fugue.
- Lingsha — Best sustain. 25% Break DMG Taken debuff + AoE Toughness DMG. Premium healer for Break teams.
- Gallagher — Best accessible 4-star sustain. Besotted debuff + reliable healing at low SP cost.
Firefly Trace Priority
Firefly’s trace priority focuses on the abilities that govern her Complete Combustion output and Energy cycle speed.
- Ultimate – First. The Ultimate is what activates Complete Combustion — the source of all her meaningful damage. Higher Ultimate level improves the SPD bonus during Combustion and the overall state parameters. Max this first.
- Skill (Enhanced) – Second. Higher Enhanced Skill level increases the Break Effect multiplier cap (up to 360%) for the Super Break conversion and the HP restore value. Every level meaningfully improves peak Combustion damage.
- Major Traces – Unlock all three early. A2 (HP protection during low-HP Skill use), A4 (ATK-to-Break Effect conversion), and A6 (50% Weakness Break Efficiency in Combustion) are all critical passives. A4 is particularly urgent — it is what makes ATK% main stats valuable. A6 directly accelerates breaking and therefore Super Break trigger frequency. Unlock all three as ascension allows.
- Talent – Third. The Talent governs Firefly’s knockdown resistance and Break DMG Taken increase. Higher Talent level increases the Break DMG Taken vulnerability applied at Weakness Break.
- Basic Attack (Enhanced) – Fourth. The Enhanced Basic ATK also contributes Super Break DMG and HP restoration in Combustion. Worth leveling after the above.
- Basic Attack (Normal) – Last. Barely used outside of Combustion. Level minimally.
Firefly Eidolons – Which Ones Are Worth It?
Firefly’s Eidolons deliver strong and consistent improvements across the board, with E1 being the clear priority and E2 being the recommended stopping point for dedicated players.
E1 – Best Value Eidolon (First Investment Priority)
E1 provides two significant improvements:
- When Firefly uses her Enhanced Skill in Complete Combustion, she ignores 15% of the enemy’s DEF. This is a team-wide offensive bonus that stacks multiplicatively with Iron Cavalry’s DEF ignore and any other penetration sources. In practice, E1 adds roughly 10% total DPS improvement.
- The Enhanced Skill no longer costs Skill Points. This is arguably the more impactful change in practice — without E1, Firefly’s Enhanced Skill in Combustion competes with teammates for the limited SP pool. At E1, she can use it as often as she wants without any SP concern, dramatically simplifying team composition requirements and rotation management.
Community consensus is that E1 takes priority over the signature Light Cone for most players. The DEF ignore and SP freedom together represent a smoother, stronger Firefly than E0 with the signature alone.
E2 – Best Stopping Point for Invested Players
E2 was reworked in the Version 4.2 Novaflare update. The new E2: while in Complete Combustion, using either Enhanced Basic ATK or Enhanced Skill to defeat a target or trigger a Weakness Break grants SAM an immediate extra turn. This is an action advance on a condition that Firefly reliably triggers — she breaks enemies constantly and kills weakened ones during Combustion. The extra turn translates into more Enhanced Skill uses, more Weakness Breaks, more Super Break instances, and consequently a longer Combustion window through the new countdown extension mechanic. Community estimates put E2 at a 15–20% DPS increase. This is the recommended stopping point for players who want to invest vertically in Firefly.
E4 – Survivability in Combustion
E4 increases Firefly’s Effect RES by 50% while in Complete Combustion. This protects her from CC effects that could disrupt her transformation state. Useful for content with heavy debuff mechanics but not a priority over E1 and E2 for damage purposes.
E6 – Fire RES Penetration
E6 increases SAM’s Fire RES Penetration by 20% in Complete Combustion and increases Weakness Break Efficiency by 50% (stacking with A6). A significant spike at maximum investment. Practically, E2 is the target for most Firefly players.
Firefly Rotation Guide – How to Play Her
Firefly’s rotation is a cycle between her Energy-building normal form and her damage-dealing Complete Combustion form. The goal is always to get back into Complete Combustion as fast as possible and stay there as long as possible.
Normal Form – Energy Building
Use Firefly’s Skill to consume HP and generate 60 Energy each cast. The Skill also advances her action by 25%, meaning each Skill use brings her next turn closer. Two Skill uses (consuming 80% of Max HP total) plus the 60% starting Energy from one use puts her near the 140 Energy threshold to reactivate Complete Combustion. Always heal before or after Skill uses — Gallagher or Lingsha can top her HP back up to ensure she survives the next cast.
In her normal form, Firefly deals modest damage with Basic ATK as needed. Her priority is the Skill cycle, not dealing damage — save all the big hits for Combustion.
Activating Complete Combustion
When Energy is ready, use Ultimate to enter Complete Combustion. SAM’s SPD jumps significantly — she will likely act several times before slower teammates take their turns. During Combustion, use Enhanced Skill on every turn. The Enhanced Skill implants Fire Weakness on primary and adjacent targets (post-Novaflare), heals HP, and generates massive Super Break DMG on any already-broken enemy. Use Enhanced Basic ATK when you need SP (at E0) or want to break an additional target before Enhanced Skill fires.
Extending the Combustion Window
The Novaflare buff added a critical mechanic: each Weakness Break triggered by Enhanced Basic ATK or Enhanced Skill extends the Combustion countdown by 10%, up to 3 times per Combustion window. Prioritise hitting targets that are close to being broken so you can trigger 3 Weakness Breaks and gain maximum extension. This keeps SAM in Combustion longer, dealing more Super Break DMG before returning to normal form.
SP Management
At E0, Firefly’s Enhanced Skill costs 1 SP per use. This means team SP economy matters — run supports that either don’t spend SP (Trailblazer Harmony, Lingsha, Gallagher) or generate SP (Fugue’s Talent restores SP through Foxian Prayer). At E1, the Enhanced Skill becomes SP-free, solving this problem entirely.
Should You Pull Firefly in HSR 4.3?
Yes — Firefly is one of the safest Break DPS investments in the game and remains T0.5 in patch 4.3. Her Novaflare buffs in Version 4.2 were substantial, representing roughly a 70% DPS increase for optimal teams when combined with The Dahlia. The new AoE Fire Weakness implant from her Enhanced Skill dramatically improves her multi-target performance and synergy with The Dahlia’s mechanics.
Her strengths are significant and durable. She can break any enemy regardless of element type during Complete Combustion — a universal capability that eliminates the “wrong element” problem. The Break archetype remains consistently strong across endgame modes, particularly in Apocalyptic Shadow where boss Toughness bars are prominent. Her teams are relatively accessible — Trailblazer (Harmony) is free, Gallagher is a common 4-star, and Ruan Mei has had multiple reruns.
The honest limitation: Firefly is more constrained in team building than CRIT-based DPS. She requires Break-specific supports (HMC or Fugue, Ruan Mei or Ruan Mei-equivalent). She performs poorly against enemies with Toughness Lock or immunity to Weakness Break. And outside of her dedicated Break team shell, most generic buffers don’t help her at all. The Dahlia is genuinely transformative for her — if you pull Firefly in 4.3, seriously consider pulling The Dahlia at the same time if you haven’t already.
For teams to pair with Firefly, see our guides for The Dahlia, Fugue, Ruan Mei, Lingsha, and Gallagher. For other top Break DPS to compare, see our guides for Boothill and Rappa.
