It puts you behind the wheel of the 2020 BMW M2 Competition Coupé — a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupé running an S55 twin-turbo inline-six borrowed from the M3 and M4 lineup. The car has real pace stock, and the four challenge tasks are designed to show it off across different parts of Japan.
The challenge runs from June 4 to June 11, 2026, alongside the #PitcherPerfect photo challenge, the Snack Attack vending machine challenge, and the rest of the Winter week events. Completing all four tasks earns 25,000 Credits and 5 Festival Playlist Points toward the Winter season rewards.
How to Get the 2020 BMW M2 Competition Coupé
The BMW M2 Competition Coupé is not available for purchase in the Autoshow. This catches a lot of players out. You cannot simply browse the car dealership and buy one. There are three ways to get it:
Yellow Wristband Reward (Main Method)
The primary way to unlock the BMW M2 Competition Coupé is to complete the Horizon Invitational (Yellow) wristband event in the main campaign. This is the first wristband in the game — the Rookie tier — so most players who have progressed through the opening hours of FH6 will already have the car in their garage. Check your collection before doing anything else. The M2 Comp is likely sitting there already.

The BMW M2 Comp can appear as a Wheelspin or Super Wheelspin reward, but this is not a reliable method since Wheelspin results are random. All Four Ultimate Driving Machine Tasks
The challenge has four tasks that unlock sequentially. You must complete them in order — you cannot skip ahead to the Soni Time Attack without finishing the earlier steps first.
Task 1 — Own and Drive the BMW M2 Competition Coupé
Once you have the car in your garage, select it from your collection, get into the driver’s seat, and drive. That is all this task requires. The moment you are behind the wheel and moving, the task registers as complete. If you already unlocked the car from the Yellow Wristband event and it is sitting in your garage, this is instant.
Task 2 — Earn 3 Stars at Speed Traps
This task asks you to earn 3 stars at Speed Traps while driving the BMW M2 Comp. The key detail is that you do not need all 3 stars from one trap in a single run. Earning 1 star at three separate Speed Traps counts. This makes the task much more accessible since you do not need a heavily upgraded car to hit the top speed threshold at a hard trap.
There is also no PI restriction on this task. You are free to upgrade the BMW M2 Comp to any spec before attempting the Speed Traps. A basic road tune pushing it into A-class is more than enough to clear 1-star thresholds at most traps.
Recommended Speed Trap — Ito Straight: The Ito Straight Speed Trap in the Minamino region is one of the most accessible traps on the map for this challenge. It sits on a long, flat road where you can build speed easily before the detection zone. Head north along the road toward the trap and carry full speed through it. One clean pass with the stock or lightly upgraded M2 Comp should clear 1 star without trouble.
Another easy option is the Festival Loop speed trap located south of the Horizon Festival Drag Strip. If you are still getting oriented on the Japan map, this trap is close to the main festival area and easy to reach early in a session.

Task 3 — Take a Photo of the BMW M2 Competition Coupé
After the Speed Trap task completes, you need to take a photo of the BMW M2 Comp. This can be done anywhere in Japan — in free roam, on a road, parked at a location, or even mid-event (as long as it is not an online race).
To open Photo Mode:
- Controller: Press Up on the D-pad to open Photo Mode, then press RB to take the shot.
- Keyboard: Press P to open Photo Mode, then press P again to take the photo.
- Press B on controller (or Escape on keyboard) to exit Photo Mode after saving.
The composition and background do not matter. A quick snapshot of the car is all it takes to register completion. Task 4 — Complete 3 Laps at Soni Time Attack
The final task sends you to the Soni Time Attack circuit in the Takashiro region. This is a dedicated time-attack track — one of the purpose-built circuit courses in FH6 where you drive through the gate to instantly start a timed session with no loading screen.
Where Is the Soni Time Attack in Forza Horizon 6?
The Soni Circuit is located in the southeast portion of the Takashiro region, in the upper-left corner of the Japan map. Use Hirosaki Castle as your main navigation landmark — the circuit sits near it in that part of the Takashiro area. On your map, filter to show only Time Attack events to make the icon easier to spot among other map markers.
Important: The Soni Time Attack requires the Green Wristband (unlocked by completing the Pier Pressure event) before you can access it. Once you reach the circuit, drive through the gate in the BMW M2 Comp to start the time attack automatically. There is no loading screen — the timer begins the moment you cross the start line. You need to complete three full laps. There is no lap time requirement and no minimum speed — the challenge just needs three laps logged. Drive at whatever pace you are comfortable with, and the task completes after your third crossing of the finish line.
Upon completing the third lap, the Weekly Challenge registers as finished and your 25,000 Credits drop into your account immediately.
Ultimate Driving Machine Rewards
Finishing all four tasks earns:
- 25,000 Credits — paid directly to your account on completion
- 5 Festival Playlist Points toward your Series 1 Winter season total
Those 5 points are the largest single point reward available in the Week 3 playlist. Tips to Complete the Challenge Efficiently
- Chain Tokyo City tasks first. The #PitcherPerfect and Snack Attack challenges both sit in northwest Tokyo City. Complete those first, take your BMW M2 Comp photo while you are there, then fast travel to Soni for the final lap task. This saves a lot of cross-map driving.
