GTA Online Kortz Center Heist Preload Is Already Live

If you’re a GTA Online player on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S and you can’t wait to get your hands on the Kortz Center Heist, here’s some good news: the preload for the upcoming update has gone live ahead of the official July 14, 2026 launch. You can head to the updates section on your console right now, and the download will show up as a pre-download. Just keep in mind that you can’t actually jump into the new content yet — that stays locked until Rockstar flips the switch on Tuesday.

The early preload is a nice move from Rockstar. For anyone who’s been sitting on a slower internet connection or limited storage headroom, having a few extra days to get the files onto your system means you can hit the ground running the moment the heist goes live instead of sitting there staring at a progress bar. Once the download is complete, GTA Online functions exactly as normal, so there’s nothing stopping you from grinding your usual sessions in the meantime.

It’s worth noting that this preload is only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. PC players, PS4 owners, and Xbox One users will need to wait until July 14 itself to start the download. With GTA 6 less than five months away, this is probably one of the last times the GTA Online community is going to be queuing up a major new update like this — so the excitement is very real.

How Big Is the Kortz Center Heist Preload?

In terms of file size, the preload is on the lighter side, which is a bit surprising for a major update. On PlayStation 5, the download comes in at around 1.9GB. On Xbox Series X/S, the size is noticeably larger at 5.11GB — a decent gap between the two platforms, though neither should cause any real issues for most players. Even on a modest broadband connection, both should clear pretty quickly.

The modest file size makes some sense when you think about it. The Kortz Center itself has been sitting in the Los Santos map since GTA 5 launched back in 2013. The building and its surroundings are already baked into the game — Rockstar is essentially unlocking it as a heist location and layering new missions, contacts, and mechanics on top of an existing structure rather than loading in an entirely new map area from scratch. It’s a smart way to keep the download size reasonable while still delivering a meaningful new content drop.

What Is the Kortz Center Heist?

The Kortz Center Heist is a brand-new multi-stage art robbery hitting GTA Online on July 14, 2026 as Title Update 1.73. It’s the game’s first proper, purpose-built new heist since the Cayo Perico Heist dropped back in December 2020 — nearly six years ago — which makes this a legitimately big deal for the GTA Online community. The Kortz Center is a high-end art gallery perched up in the hills of Pacific Bluffs in Los Santos, and your job is to raid its prestigious collection of priceless international artworks.

The structure follows the familiar loop that made Cayo Perico and the Diamond Casino Heist so popular. You scope out the target first, photograph paintings without tripping security, map out entry and exit routes, and then pick your approach before executing the job. There are also secondary targets inside the gallery that can significantly pad out your final payout if you manage to grab them, so taking the time to properly case the location during the setup missions is worth it.

You can run the Kortz Center Heist completely solo or with up to four players in co-op, mirroring the flexibility Rockstar built into Cayo Perico. Solo runs are harder but you keep the full cut. Bringing a crew gives you more hands to grab secondary targets, but the payout gets split. Your call depending on your playstyle and how much patience you have for matchmaking.

What You Need to Start the Kortz Center Heist

Before you can kick off this heist, there are a couple of requirements you need to have sorted. Here’s a quick breakdown of what’s needed:

    • A Mansion property — this is your base of operations for the heist. If you don’t already own one, you’re looking at a serious GTA$ investment, though Rockstar has been running a GTA$2,000,000 discount for GTA+ members ahead of launch.
    • The Art Studio upgrade — this is a new expansion for your Mansion and it’s not optional. You won’t be able to access the heist planning without it. On the upside, the Art Studio also doubles as a passive income source, letting you run an art forgery and counterfeiting side business between heist runs.
    • Completed setup missions — just like every major heist before it, you’ll need to link up with the mysterious Mr. Faber and his fixer Raf De Angelis, scope the Kortz Center, and work through the prep jobs before the big finale becomes available.

If you’re still short on funds going into Tuesday, Rockstar ran the Fine Art Collector Program from June 18 through July 13 with up to GTA$1,500,000 in free rewards available across three tiers — simply logging in earned players $500,000 and a free Benefactor Turreted Limo, while completing any heist added another $1,000,000. Mansion owners who logged in also scored a $1,000,000 discount on the Art Studio upgrade itself.

Is the Kortz Center Heist the Last Big GTA Online Update?

Rockstar hasn’t officially called it the last major update, but all the signs point that way. Grand Theft Auto 6 is confirmed to launch on November 19, 2026, and with Rockstar’s full focus shifting to what is expected to be the biggest game launch in history, it would make sense for the Kortz Center Heist to mark the end of major storyline DLC for the current version of GTA Online. Smaller weekly events and rotating bonuses will likely continue running for a while after GTA 6 drops, but in terms of a new, purpose-built heist with its own content structure, this is almost certainly it for GTA Online as we know it.

That’s actually a fitting send-off when you think about it. The game launched in October 2013, has been running continuously for nearly 13 years, and it’s going out with a proper new heist targeting one of Los Santos’ most iconic landmarks. Not a bad way to close the chapter. Whether GTA 6 ships with its own online mode or takes its time to build one up, GTA Online has had one hell of a run.

Meanwhile, if you’re thinking about the hardware you play on, we recently went hands-on with the GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green Xbox Controller — worth a look if you want something new ahead of GTA 6. And for something completely different, the Stardew Valley crochet book is coming January 2027, which is a surprisingly delightful piece of gaming merch news.

When Does the Kortz Center Heist Go Live?

The Kortz Center Heist goes live on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Based on Rockstar’s usual update cadence, expect the servers to be updated around 5:00 AM EDT / 10:00 AM BST / 9:00 AM UTC on that day. The update rolls out on all platforms simultaneously — PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC — though as mentioned, only PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players had the option to preload ahead of time. If you’re on another platform, just fire up the game on Tuesday and let the patch download before jumping in.

For anyone who wants to be absolutely ready the second it goes live, make sure your Mansion is in order, your Art Studio purchase is planned, and your crew is assembled. This is the last major score in Los Santos before GTA 6 takes over — you don’t want to be scrambling for GTA$ when everyone else is already deep inside the Kortz Center.
