How to Get Hallowgrove Woodling Head Cosmetic (Secret Quest) in Mistfall Hunter

    By Mark Smith · September 8, 2026 · 10 min read
    Hallowgrove Woodling Head

    TL;DR

    • The Hallowgrove Woodling Head is a free Legendary cosmetic hidden behind the secret “Woodlings and the Goddess” questline.
    • Start it by climbing the statue next to Sigrid’s Tavern in Windrest camp and bowing toward the Goddess Velvar statue.
    • The full quest order is: The Perplexed Woodling → Tit for Tat → Storytelling Props → Trading Secrets → A Fair Trade! → Where Are the Shinies → Born of the Same Root.
    • You need to extract with any Legendary item to progress — kill Mini-Bosses to improve your chances.
    • Find the two hidden treasures in Hallowgrove’s Refugee Camp and Brandrgarde’s Prison (Exile Pit).
    • Return to Twig at camp to complete the final task and claim the cosmetic from your Wardrobe.

The Hallowgrove Woodling Head cosmetic in Mistfall Hunter is one of the best free rewards in the game — a Legendary bell-shaped helmet with a white tree and blue glow that most players walk right past without ever knowing it exists. It is locked behind a secret questline called “Woodlings and the Goddess” that starts with a hidden interaction in your home base and never shows you a quest marker to find it. This guide walks you through every step so you do not miss it.

This quest is available at any level and can be completed solo. Before you dive in, check our Mimic Dust guide for a useful tool that can help you navigate Brandrgarde safely on the later quest steps. And if you are still figuring out the basics of extraction, our how to extract in Mistfall Hunter guide covers everything you need to know.

What Is the Hallowgrove Woodling Head?

The Hallowgrove Woodling Head is a Legendary-quality cosmetic helmet shaped like a bell fused with a white tree. It carries the signature blue glow of the Woodlings who call the extraction bell during your raids. It is completely free — no premium currency required — and is earned exclusively through the hidden “Woodlings and the Goddess” side questline. Once unlocked, it is available permanently in your Wardrobe.

Full Quest Order — Woodlings and the Goddess

The questline has seven tasks that play out in this order:

    1. The Perplexed Woodling — trigger the quest by bowing at the statue
    2. Tit for Tat — talk to Twig at the Scavenger Squad
    3. Storytelling Props — talk to Soekja the crow, then extract with a Legendary item
    4. Trading Secrets — return to Soekja with the legendary loot
    5. A Fair Trade! — take Soekja’s story back to Twig
    6. Where Are the Shinies — recover treasures in Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde
    7. Born of the Same Root — return to Twig and claim the cosmetic

Step 1 — Climb the Statue and Bow (The Perplexed Woodling)

Head to the large statue in Windrest camp, right next to Sigrid’s Tavern. This is where the secret starts. There is no quest marker here — you have to find it yourself.

To reach the top of the statue, use this route:

    • Start at the root of the branch at the base of the statue.
    • Walk along the branch, then crouch underneath the arm or shield.
    • Jump up to the blue-painted climbing spots on the statue’s body.
    • Continue climbing up the shoulders and onto the statue’s head.

Once you are at the top, face your character toward the large Goddess Velvar statue at the back of the camp. Pay attention to the centre of your screen. An interaction prompt will appear asking you to bow. Press the interact button (F on PC) to bow before the goddess.

This immediately draws Twig’s attention and the hidden quest “Woodlings and the Goddess” is added to your Side Quests log. If the bow prompt is not appearing, adjust your footing at the top of the statue and shift your angle slightly toward the Goddess statue until it triggers.

Step 2 — Talk to Twig (Tit for Tat)

After the bow, head to the Scavenger Squad area in Windrest camp and speak with Twig. He is deeply curious about the goddess you bowed to and wants to know more about her. He asks you to find Soekja the white crow and get him to share the story of the Goddess of Fate.

Step 3 — Talk to Soekja and Get a Legendary Item (Storytelling Props)

Find Soekja the white crow near the bridge in Windrest camp. He agrees to tell the story — but he needs proper storytelling props first. He asks you to bring him a Legendary-quality item from an expedition run.

This is the part of the quest that takes the most time for most players. The legendary item can be any Legendary-rarity loot — gear, materials, or camp construction items all count. You just need to extract with it successfully.

Tips to get a Legendary item faster:

    • Hunt Mini-Bosses on your map — they have the highest chance of dropping Legendary loot.
    • Open as many high-tier loot containers as you can in each run.
    • Consider farming Brandrgarde, which has stronger enemies but better loot quality than Hallowgrove.
    • Check the Auction House — if you have enough Gyldenblod, buying a Legendary item directly can skip this step entirely.
    • Do not bring your best gear on farm runs in case you lose the fight during extraction.

Step 4 — Return to Soekja (Trading Secrets)

Once you have successfully extracted with a Legendary item, return to Soekja at Windrest camp. Hand over the item to him in exchange for the tale of the Goddess of Fate. Soekja vividly recounts the relationship between the Goddess of Fate and Yggdrasil — giving you the story Twig wants and your first real understanding of this silent deity. He also rewards you with a Legendary Material for your camp.

Step 5 — Return to Twig (A Fair Trade!)

Take Soekja’s story back to Twig at the Scavenger Squad. Twig agrees that it is a fair trade and is ready to share the Woodlings’ secrets — but first he has a condition. The Scavenger Squad’s treasures were lost at the entrances to both Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde. He asks you to recover them before he reveals anything further. This unlocks the next task: Where Are the Shinies.

Step 6 — Recover Both Hidden Treasures (Where Are the Shinies)

This step sends you into two expedition maps. Make sure to track the Where Are the Shinies task in your quest log before loading in — the quest marker on each map will guide you to the exact location. You do not need to bring anything with you. Just reach the treasure, interact with it, and confirm the objective has updated before you extract.

Hallowgrove Treasure Location — Refugee Camp

Load into Hallowgrove and head toward the Refugee Camp. Depending on which source you follow, the Refugee Camp is described as being in the northern or southern section of the map — trust your active quest marker to pinpoint the exact spot, as map layouts can vary by session. Inside the Refugee Camp, look for a crypt with a ladder going underground. Drop down into the crypt and interact with the marked area at the bottom. You will receive a message confirming you found the treasure abandoned by the Scavenger Squad. Once the Hallowgrove objective updates in your tracker, you can extract or continue your run.

Brandrgarde Treasure Location — Prison (Exile Pit)

Load into Brandrgarde and head to the Prison POI, located in the western section of the map. The treasure is buried on the lowest level of the Prison, inside the room with horse effigies spewing poison smoke. This is a dangerous area with strong enemies nearby, so move carefully. Interact with the marked treasure on the ground between the bodies and enemies, confirm the objective updates, and then extract back to Windrest camp.

A budget loadout is recommended for the Brandrgarde run. Losing expensive gear to the Prison’s enemies is not worth the risk when all you need to do is reach the marked spot and interact. If you want extra insurance getting out safely, this is a good scenario to carry a Mimic Dust in your Tactical Item slot.

Step 7 — Return to Twig and Claim the Cosmetic (Born of the Same Root)

After collecting both treasures, return to Windrest camp and speak with Twig one final time. He shares the Woodlings’ secrets, completing the final task “Born of the Same Root.” As your reward, you receive the legendary Hallowgrove Woodling Head cosmetic.

To equip it, visit the Wardrobe in your camp. The helmet will already be available there automatically — no additional steps needed. Equip it from the head cosmetic slot and wear it into your next run.

Tips for Completing the Quest Efficiently

    • Track the quest at every step. The quest log is the most reliable way to find exact objective locations. Always make sure the right task is actively tracked before loading into a map.
    • Do the Legendary item step during normal runs. Do not do a dedicated farming run — just play normally and let the Legendary item come naturally while completing other objectives.
    • You do not need to extract after the treasure interactions. Once the objective updates in your tracker, you can extract immediately or continue your session — whichever suits you.
    • Budget loadout for Brandrgarde. The Prison area is dangerous. Bring a cheap kit on the treasure run so a death does not cost you good gear.
    • Do not confuse the quest name variations. The questline may appear as “Goddess and Woodlings” or “Woodlings and the Goddess” in your log — they refer to the same quest chain.
    • This quest is available at any level. You can start it the moment you reach Windrest camp — there is no level gate on the statue interaction.

What Else Do You Get From This Quest?

Beyond the Hallowgrove Woodling Head cosmetic, completing this questline rewards you with a Legendary Material usable for camp construction. This is handed over by Soekja after the Storytelling Props step. It is a useful bonus that saves you some farming time on camp upgrades, especially if you are working toward stations that require Legendary-tier materials.
