Hell Let Loose Vietnam All Game Modes Explained

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Game Mode

    TL;DR

    • Hell Let Loose Vietnam has four game modes: Warfare, Offensive, Conquest, and Domination.
    • Warfare is a classic 90-minute tug-of-war across five sectors.
    • Offensive splits teams into attackers and defenders with a 30-minute timer per sector.
    • Conquest introduces a new Morale system and lets both teams attack freely from a cross-shaped layout.
    • Domination is a faster 30-minute mode focused on three central objectives before an HQ assault.
    • All modes are 50v50 multiplayer — no single-player campaign exists in this game.
    • Knowing each mode’s win condition before you spawn in makes a real difference.

Hell Let Loose Vietnam all game modes explained — and if you are jumping in for the first time, this is exactly where you need to start. The game launched on August 13, 2026, and puts two teams of 50 players each — the US Armed Forces and the North Vietnamese Army — against each other across several large maps. Before you pick a class or load into a match, you need to understand how each mode actually works. The rules change everything. What wins in Warfare will lose you the match in Domination. For a full look at the factions before diving into modes, check out our US vs NVA breakdown and the Hell Let Loose Vietnam beginners guide.

There are four modes available at launch. Two of them — Warfare and Offensive — will feel familiar to veterans of the original Hell Let Loose. The other two — Conquest and Domination — are brand new and shake things up in meaningful ways. Let’s go through each one in detail.

How Many Game Modes Does Hell Let Loose Vietnam Have?

Hell Let Loose Vietnam has four game modes at launch: Warfare, Offensive, Conquest, and Domination. All four are multiplayer-only. There is no single-player campaign or story mode. Every match is a 50v50 battle between the US Armed Forces and the North Vietnamese Army.

The developer, Expression Games, has said more modes could arrive after launch as the game grows. But for now, these four cover a wide range of playstyles — from slow grinding frontlines to fast and chaotic objective fights.

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Game Mode

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Warfare Mode Explained

Warfare is the most classic mode in the game. If you played the original Hell Let Loose, you already know the basics.

Both teams start by controlling opposite halves of the map. A neutral sector sits in the middle. Your job is to push into that neutral zone, capture it, and then keep pushing into enemy territory until you reach and take their headquarters.

    How Capturing Works in Warfare

Capturing a point is not just about standing near it. There are two zones on every objective:

    • Soft Cap (2×2 grid area): Players in this wider zone give 1x capture power each.
    • Hard Cap (the circle directly on the point): Players here give 3x capture power each. This is where you want to be.

An uncontested capture takes around three minutes. If enemies are also inside the zone, the capture slows down or pauses. If they outnumber you inside the Hard Cap, they start capping it back for themselves.

    How to Win Warfare

There are two ways to win. First, your team captures all sectors and takes the enemy HQ. Second, you hold the majority of sectors when the 90-minute match timer runs out. That second condition matters more than most new players realize. You do not always need to reach the HQ. If you hold three out of five sectors at the end, you win — no matter how many times your team died in the process.

Warfare rewards teams that grind steadily and hold what they take. Reckless pushes that leave your rear sectors undefended often flip the game in the enemy’s favor.

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Offensive Mode Explained

Offensive mode removes the back-and-forth of Warfare. Instead, roles are locked. One team attacks. The other defends. Attackers move through five linear objectives from one end of the map to the other before making a final push on the enemy HQ.

How the Timer Works in Offensive

Attackers get 30 minutes to capture each active sector. If they take it, the clock resets to 30 minutes and defenders fall back to the next point. If the clock hits zero before attackers take the sector, defenders win. Simple.

One important detail: once a sector is lost by defenders, it is gone. Defenders cannot go back and retake it. All the pressure is forward-facing. Defenders only need to hold one point for long enough to kill the clock.

Capture Rules Are Different in Offensive

In Warfare, both the Soft Cap and Hard Cap zones contribute to capturing. In Offensive, only players inside the Hard Cap count toward capture progress. This is a big deal. You cannot stand on the edge of the fight and help your team capture the point. You have to get inside that circle.

This makes Offensive feel tighter and more intense than Warfare. Defenders can fortify around one small zone. Attackers have to break through it.

    How to Win Offensive

Attackers win by taking all five sectors plus the enemy HQ. Defenders win by holding any one active objective until the 30-minute clock hits zero. One successful defense is enough to end the match in the defenders’ favor.

For the attacking side, good squad communication and knowing how to set up a strong garrison and outpost network close to the objective makes all the difference.

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Conquest Mode Explained

Conquest is where Hell Let Loose Vietnam starts to feel different from the original game. This mode is new and was designed to create more chaotic, less predictable battles.

Instead of a frontline moving in one direction, five neutral capture points are spread across the map in a cross-shaped layout. Neither team owns any of them at the start. Both sides can attack any of them at any time.

    The Morale System in Conquest

Conquest introduces a team-wide Morale meter. This is new to the series. Two things drain your team’s Morale:

    • Players dying and redeploying.
    • Your team controlling fewer objectives than the enemy.

Morale does not affect your individual actions directly. But when your team’s Morale hits zero, the match enters overtime — which brings its own pressure.

    Overtime in Conquest

Overtime in Conquest is tricky. If your team holds more sectors but runs out of Morale first, the match does not end. Instead, the enemy gets a window to flip the majority of sectors before their own Morale runs dry. If they manage it, they win. If your team holds on, you win despite reaching zero Morale first.

The result is matches that stay alive right to the end. A team that looks to be cruising can get caught flat-footed in overtime and lose everything.

    How to Win Conquest

Drain the enemy’s Morale while holding more objectives than they do. Dying costs your team Morale, so coordinated play matters more here than in Warfare. Spread out, contest multiple points, and do not throw lives away on reckless solo pushes. Good supply management and keeping squads alive extends your team’s Morale significantly.

Hell Let Loose Vietnam Domination Mode Explained

Domination is the fastest mode in the game. It is 30 minutes, tight, and focused. There are three central objectives in the middle of the map. Neither team owns them at the start.

    How Domination Phases Work

Domination has two phases that can flip back and forth during the match.

Phase 1 — Fight for the middle. Both teams battle over the three central objectives. The goal is to control two out of three. You do not need to capture them in a specific order.

Phase 2 — HQ assault. As soon as one team holds the majority of those three middle points, the enemy’s headquarters becomes available for attack. Capture that HQ and the match ends immediately.

But there is a catch. If you lose majority control of the central objectives while trying to assault the HQ, the enemy HQ locks again. You get pushed back to fighting for the middle. The mode can swing back and forth multiple times in a single match.

    How to Win Domination

There are two win conditions. The faster one: capture the enemy HQ while you hold the majority of central objectives. The timed win: if no one takes an HQ before the 30 minutes are up, whichever team controls more of the three central objectives wins.

Domination rewards teams that stay organized and do not overcommit to the HQ push while leaving the central points uncovered. Losing majority control mid-assault can cost you the match completely.

Which Hell Let Loose Vietnam Game Mode Should You Play First?

If you are completely new to Hell Let Loose, start with Warfare. It is the slowest and most forgiving mode. The frontline is clear, your job is easy to understand, and the 90-minute match gives you time to learn how the game feels without everything collapsing because of one bad death.

Once you are comfortable, try Offensive. It is more focused and forces you to play your role tightly — especially in the Hard Cap. It is a great mode for getting good at holding and pushing objectives under pressure.

Conquest and Domination are better once you understand the map and your team’s roles. Conquest in particular rewards players who already know how to coordinate across multiple points at once. Check out our all classes guide to understand which role fits which mode best.

How Roles and Classes Affect Each Game Mode

Your class choice matters in every mode, but it matters differently depending on what you are playing.

In Warfare and Conquest, the Engineer and Squad Leader are critical. Building garrisons close to active sectors keeps your team in the fight. In Offensive, the Medic becomes especially important because keeping attackers alive near the Hard Cap is essential to keeping capture progress moving. In Domination, everyone needs to stay close to the action — long-range roles like Snipers can still contribute but must focus on protecting or disrupting HQ assaults rather than playing passively.

The Commander role is important in all four modes but is most impactful in Conquest. With five free-floating objectives, having a Commander who can direct squad priorities and call in support at the right moment can genuinely decide the game.

Game Mode Tips for New Players

    Warfare Tips

    • Get inside the Hard Cap zone to speed up captures. The Soft Cap is helpful but not enough on its own.
    • Defend what you already own. Many teams lose Warfare by over-extending and letting their rear sectors flip.
    • Talk to your Squad Leader. They set up the spawn points. If there are none near the front, you will waste most of your time running.

    Offensive Tips

    • Attackers must be inside the Hard Cap. Only that zone counts toward capturing objectives in Offensive mode.
    • Defenders should not spread thin. Pick a fortified position on the active sector and hold it.
    • Losing one sector as a defender is not the end. Focus entirely on the next one.

    Conquest Tips

    • Do not rush and die repeatedly. Every redeploy costs your team Morale.
    • Split your squad across two objectives rather than stacking everyone on one point.
    • Watch the Morale meter. If your team is low, pull back and consolidate to stop the bleeding.

    Domination Tips

    • Never commit your whole team to the HQ assault. Someone needs to hold the central points.
    • If you lose majority control mid-push, the HQ locks. Get back to the middle immediately.
    • The 30-minute timer is short. Stay active and do not camp on the edges.

The developer has not confirmed additional modes yet, but given that the official website mentions six distinct gameplay modes in total, it is likely that two more modes will be added post-launch as the game updates. This article will be updated when new modes are officially confirmed or released.

Few Notes on Hell Let Loose Vietnam Game Modes

Hell Let Loose Vietnam all game modes each ask something slightly different from you and your team. Warfare is the longest and most forgiving. Offensive locks you into a single role with one chance to get it right. Conquest punishes reckless deaths through the Morale system. Domination is short, sharp, and unforgiving if your team loses focus mid-assault.
