What Is Fiber in Palworld?

Fiber is a basic wood-type crafting material in Palworld. The game describes it as fiber collected from trees, used for making bows and similar gear. It has a weight of just 0.5, so it stacks easily in your inventory. Do not let the simple description fool you — Fiber shows up in over 20 crafting recipes. You will need it right from the start and deep into the late game.

One important thing to know: Fiber cannot be bought from any merchant in the game. You have to farm it yourself. That makes knowing the best methods even more important.

How To Get Fiber in Palworld – All 3 Methods

Method 1: Chop Down Trees

This is the first method you will use and it works immediately. When you chop a tree, it drops both Wood and Fiber. You do not need any tool — you can hit trees with your bare hands. But using a Stone Axe makes things much faster.

Here is how to do it:

• Craft a Stone Axe from your inventory workbench early in the game.
• Find a wooded area — trees are everywhere on the Palpagos Islands.
• Start chopping. Both Wood and Fiber go straight to your inventory.
• Trees regrow over time, so the same spots stay useful.

This method is perfect in the first hour of the game. It is free, fast to start, and requires no unlocks. The downside is it gets inefficient once your base grows and starts consuming Fiber quickly.

Tip: You can also assign Pals with the Lumbering work suitability to a Logging Site at your base. A Logging Site unlocks at Technology Level 7. Lumbering Pals will chop trees passively and produce Wood, which you can then convert to Fiber using the Crusher.

Method 2: Use the Crusher (Best Method)

The Crusher is the most efficient way to get Fiber in Palworld. It converts 1 Wood into 2 Fiber. That is a 2x output from a resource you will always have plenty of.

To unlock and build the Crusher:

• Reach Technology Level 8.
• Spend 2 Technology Points to unlock the Crusher in the Technology menu.
• Open the Build menu and go to the Production tab.
• Gather the required materials to build it.

The materials you need to build a Crusher are:

• 50 Wood
• 20 Stone
• 10 Paldium Fragments

Once it is built, interact with the Crusher and select Fiber from the production list. Choose how much you want to make, then let it run.

Important: The Crusher cannot be operated by the player. It needs a Pal with the Watering work suitability assigned to your base. Good early-game choices are Pengullet, Fuack, and Teafant. Certain Pals drop Fiber when you defeat or capture them. This is not the fastest farming method, but it gives you bonus Fiber while you explore or hunt for Paldeck entries.

The Pals that drop Fiber are:

• Hoocrates – A Dark-type Pal that only spawns at night. Found in low-level areas including the starting region. Very common and easy to farm.
• Hangyu – A Ground-type Pal found in areas like the north beach near the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant and the Deep Sand Dunes. Rarer than Hoocrates.
• Hangyu Cryst – The Ice-type variant of Hangyu. Found in cold northern regions. Also drops Fiber and Ice Organ.
• Tarantriss – Drops Fiber at a 100% rate when defeated or captured.

Windswept Hills is one of the best early spots for this method. Both Hangyu and Hoocrates spawn there at low levels. For denser late-game farming, areas like Feybreak concentrate multiple Fiber-dropping Pals in one zone.

Pro tip: You do not have to keep killing wild Pals for drops. Capture a Pal that drops Fiber, then use a Meat Cleaver to butcher it at your base. Butchering rolls the same drop table as a wild kill. What Is Fiber Used for in Palworld?
