How to Get Lightbringer in Final Fantasy Resonance

    TL;DR

    • Lightbringer is a Greatsword with 179 Physical Attack that imbues non-elemental attacks with Light.
    • You get it from the Enigmatic Princess at the Oblivion Palace near Grandport — but only after handing in all 99 Tablet Shards.
    • Tablet Shards are collectibles spread across every island in the game across 48 locations.
    • The last 3 shards are inside the Crystal Tower, so you can only complete the collection near the very end of the game.
    • No Tablet Shards are permanently missable — even shards in Fina’s Psyche can be recovered via the Tower of Mysidia magic book.
    • You cannot buy Lightbringer from any shop. This is the only way to get it.

What Is Lightbringer in Final Fantasy Resonance?

Lightbringer is one of the strongest weapons in Final Fantasy Resonance. It is a Greatsword with 179 Physical Attack and 93 Magic Attack. Its special property is that it imbues non-elemental physical attacks with Light, making it a serious damage tool in the late game and endgame.

It sits just below Ragnarok (191 Physical Attack, obtained from the Twelve Legendary Arms) in the damage rankings. But Lightbringer is easier to target early. You are working toward it the entire game just by picking up glowing fragments along the way.

There is no shop that sells it. No enemy drops it. The only way to get Lightbringer is to collect all 99 Tablet Shards and trade them in at the Oblivion Palace. That is it.

How to Get Lightbringer — The Short Version

The process is straightforward, even if it takes the whole game to finish:

    1. Collect all 99 Tablet Shards scattered across every island and dungeon in the game.
    2. Visit the Oblivion Palace, located on the Grandport stretch of the Kingdom of Grandshelt.
    3. Talk to the Enigmatic Princess inside and hand over your shards.
    4. With 99 shards total, the 4-Star Chamber chest unlocks and you receive Lightbringer.

Simple in theory. The real work is tracking down every last shard.

What Are Tablet Shards and How Do They Work?

Tablet Shards are glowing collectibles hidden in towns and dungeons throughout Final Fantasy Resonance. The game barely explains them. All it tells you is that they emit a curious glow, they are scattered around, and someone out there is collecting them.

That someone is the Enigmatic Princess inside the Oblivion Palace near Grandport. She is trying to rebuild a broken tablet, and she rewards you with treasure from the locked chambers behind her as you bring in more shards. There are 25 total chests in the palace, spread across four chambers. Each one unlocks at a specific shard count, starting at just 3 shards and going all the way to 99.

Lightbringer sits in the 4-Star Chamber — the very last chest — which only opens when you have brought in all 99 shards.

Where to Find All 99 Tablet Shards in Final Fantasy Resonance

The 99 shards are spread across 48 locations on every island in the game. You pick them up naturally as you progress through the story — if you are thorough when exploring each new area.

Here is roughly how many shards each chapter gives you and what opens at the palace:

    • Chapter 1 (Grandshelt, Grandport, Kolobos) — 12 shards. Opens 4 of 25 chests.
    • Chapter 2 (Dirnado) — 15 shards, 27 total. Opens 7 chests.
    • Chapter 3 (Olderion) — 15 shards, 42 total. Opens 11 chests. Princess shares her first memory.
    • Chapter 4 (Zoldaad and the Colosseum) — 16 shards, 58 total. Opens 15 chests.
    • Chapter 5 (Mysidia) — 17 shards, 75 total. Opens 19 chests. Princess shares her second memory.
    • Chapter 6 (Gronoa) — 12 shards, 87 total. Opens 22 chests.
    • Chapter 7 (Pharm and the Crystal Tower) — 12 shards, 99 total. Opens all 25 chests including Lightbringer.

Note: Grandshelt Castle and the Earth Shrine from the very start of the game contain zero shards. The glowing object in the Earth Shrine’s third area triggers a story event — it does not count toward your 99.

The Final 3 Shards Are in the Crystal Tower

This is the key thing to know. You cannot reach 99 Tablet Shards until you enter the Crystal Tower in Chapter 7. The last three shards are locked inside it, meaning Lightbringer is always an endgame reward — no matter how carefully you explored everything else.

Two of the Crystal Tower shards are found in Area 2. The third one is tricky: it sits on an invisible path that the in-game map does not show. The way through is on foot — at the fork past the top cross, go five steps west then four steps north. If you get confused by it, our guide on how to break Sealing Stones in Final Fantasy Resonance covers dungeon puzzle mechanics that are useful here too.

Also worth noting: Dragon’s Maw in Pharm contains one shard, but its danger level matches the Crystal Tower itself. Wait until your party is ready before going in there.

Can You Miss Tablet Shards Permanently?

No — and this is good news. No Tablet Shard in Final Fantasy Resonance is permanently missable.

The one area players worry about is Fina’s Psyche. This dungeon’s only exit leads to the Battlefield, not back to the world map. You cannot leave it normally mid-run. But once the story has taken you through it, a magic book inside the Tower of Mysidia lets you re-enter Fina’s Psyche whenever you like. Any shards you skipped there are waiting for you.

So if you missed something, do not panic. Just revisit when you get the chance.

    Oblivion Palace
    Oblivion Palace

    Where Is the Oblivion Palace?

The Oblivion Palace is near Grandport in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. It is described as a particularly conspicuous palace near Grandport — hard to miss once you know what you are looking for.

Inside, the princess stands in Area 1 next to a save point. When you speak to her and hand over your shards, she opens one chest at a time based on how many shards you have brought. She takes all of your current shards when you speak with her, so bring as many as you have.

The palace itself has zero enemies. Danger level zero. It is a safe pit stop at any point in the game.

All 25 Oblivion Palace Chests and What They Give

Here is every chest in the Oblivion Palace and the shard count needed to unlock it:

    1-Star Chamber

    • 3 shards — Vitality Charm
    • 6 shards — Earrings
    • 9 shards — Magicite Shard
    • 12 shards — Stagger Ring
    • 16 shards — Dreadwing Mallet
    • 20 shards — Compound Bow
    • 24 shards — Magicite Shard
    • 28 shards — Astral Jacket

    2-Star Chamber

    • 32 shards — Cure Drop
    • 36 shards — Celaeno Fragments
    • 40 shards — Magicite
    • 44 shards — Phantom Robe
    • 48 shards — Repeater Rifle
    • 52 shards — Protective Gear
    • 56 shards — Briar Edge
    • 60 shards — War Pick

    3-Star Chamber

    • 64 shards — Magicite Cryst
    • 68 shards — Mirage Jacket
    • 72 shards — Sundering Odachi
    • 76 shards — Ancient Firearm
    • 80 shards — Adamantite
    • 84 shards — Ancient Whip

    4-Star Chamber (The Final Rewards)

    • 89 shards — Adamantite
    • 94 shards — Arch Drain (restores 5% of max MP each time you stagger an enemy)
    • 99 shards — Lightbringer

The Magicite and Magicite Cryst along the way are very valuable for awakening your Visions. Our Magicite Shards and Awakening Visions guide explains exactly how to use them to power up your party.

Is Lightbringer Worth Going for All 99 Shards?

Yes — and not just because of the sword.

The chest rewards along the way include two Magicite Shards, a Magicite, and a Magicite Cryst at 64 shards. To put that Magicite Cryst in context: the Colosseum shop sells one for 250,000 gil. The palace gives you one just for exploring. That alone makes the collection worth doing even if you do not care about Lightbringer.

Then there are the two Adamantite drops at 80 and 89 shards, and the Arch Drain at 94 which is a genuinely strong grimoire for magic-focused builds. The Lightbringer at 99 is the crown on top of rewards that are already excellent.

For the endgame fights — Omega at level 99, the Twelve Legendary Arms trials, cave masters — having Lightbringer gives your physical attacker a clean Light-imbued edge before you finish the Ragnarok trial. It is worth the effort.

Tips for Collecting All 99 Tablet Shards Efficiently

    • Sweep each island on your first visit. Shards don’t go anywhere, but going back to old areas takes time. It’s cleaner to grab everything as you pass through.
    • Visit the palace whenever the airship takes you near Grandport. Shards are permanent inventory. Hand them in early and often to unlock the lower-tier rewards, especially the Magicite drops.
    • Don’t ignore towns. The shards aren’t only in dungeons. Places like Grandport Harbor, the Village of Kol, the Town of Felicitas and Dilmagia all have shards sitting in them.
    • Don’t panic about Fina’s Psyche. If you miss those four shards, the magic book in the Tower of Mysidia sends you back in whenever you want.
    • Leave Dragon’s Maw until late. It opens onto Pharm in Chapter 7 and its danger level matches the Crystal Tower. Save it for then.
    • The Colosseum shard is Chapter 4 only. The Colosseum stays locked until Chapter 4. One shard lives inside it at Area 1. Do not forget it when you finally get access.

What Does Lightbringer Do — Full Stats

    • Type: Greatsword
    • Physical Attack: 179
    • Magic Attack: 93
    • Special Effect: Imbues non-elemental physical attacks with Light
    • Where to Get: Oblivion Palace 4-Star Chamber chest (99 Tablet Shards required)

It is the second strongest Greatsword in the game after Ragnarok+ (which comes from the Twelve Legendary Arms trial system). But Ragnarok+ is a post-game grind. Lightbringer is your bridge weapon — powerful enough for the final story content and the early endgame fights.

The game is available on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Trophies and Achievements Tied to Tablet Shards

If you are going for the platinum or full achievements list, two trophies are linked to the Tablet Shard system:

    • Princess’s Reward — Unlocked when you open the very first chest (3 shards).
    • Memento — Unlocked at 60 shards when the princess recovers her second memory.

The princess also recovers a first memory at 28 shards, and the end of her full story plays out when you bring in all 99. It is a small narrative thread worth seeing if you enjoy the game’s side content. Do not skip the scenes at the palace.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many Tablet Shards do you need for Lightbringer?

You need all 99 Tablet Shards. Lightbringer is the final reward in the 4-Star Chamber of the Oblivion Palace and only unlocks at the maximum shard count.

Where is the Oblivion Palace in Final Fantasy Resonance?

The Oblivion Palace is near Grandport in the Kingdom of Grandshelt. It is a large, obvious structure close to the Grandport stretch of the map. The Enigmatic Princess who collects shards stands in Area 1 next to a save point.

Can you miss Tablet Shards permanently?

No. No Tablet Shard is permanently missable. Even the four shards inside Fina’s Psyche — which has no exit to the world map — can be collected later by using the magic book in the Tower of Mysidia to re-enter.

When can you get Lightbringer in Final Fantasy Resonance?

The earliest possible point is late in Chapter 7, after clearing the Crystal Tower. The final three Tablet Shards are inside the Crystal Tower, so 99 shards is only reachable at the very end of the main story.

Is Lightbringer the best weapon in Final Fantasy Resonance?

It is the second best Greatsword. Ragnarok+ (from the Twelve Legendary Arms post-game system) has higher Physical Attack at 191 and raises the damage cap to 99,999. But Lightbringer at 179 Physical Attack is the best you can get before completing the Twelve Legendary Arms, making it the strongest practical option through the main story endgame.

Can you buy Lightbringer from a shop?

No. Lightbringer cannot be purchased from any shop or obtained from any enemy. The only source is the Oblivion Palace 4-Star Chamber chest, which unlocks at 99 Tablet Shards.

What do you get before Lightbringer at the Oblivion Palace?

The 4-Star Chamber also gives you an Adamantite at 89 shards and Arch Drain (a grimoire that recovers 5% max MP each time you stagger an enemy) at 94 shards. All three are strong late-game items worth having.
