    TL;DR

    • PP is Ditto’s stamina meter — it depletes every time you use a Move like Water Gun, Leafage, or Rollout
    • When PP hits zero, Ditto gets tired and slows down — you do not faint; you just lose efficiency until you refuel
    • Restore PP by eating food (berries, carrots, crops, cooked meals), resting on a bed or chair, sleeping in your home overnight, or using the healing machine at any Pokémon Center (once per day)
    • Hold A while eating to continuously consume a stack of berries — this is the fastest way to fully restore PP in the field
    • The first berries you find are Lapin Berries — headbutt trees with apple-looking fruit to collect them; Leppa Berries (the best PP recovery berry) grow on trees you water
    • No house = no overnight PP recovery — build a home as early as possible to enable passive PP restoration between sessions
    • Permanently increase Max PP by purchasing PP Up from the PC Shop — one per region, available from Environment Level 3, costing 300, 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 Life Coins
    • PP Ups are automatically consumed on purchase — no need to use them from your bag
    • Always buy PP Up first when the PC Shop expands — alongside Packing Tips, it’s the most important upgrade in each new area

What Is PP in Pokémon Pokopia?

In mainline Pokémon games, PP (Power Points) determines how many times a Pokémon can use a specific move in battle. In Pokémon Pokopia, the concept is repurposed as Ditto’s personal stamina meter — a single shared energy pool that depletes each time you use any Move, including Water Gun, Leafage, Rototiller, Rollout, Rock Smash, and every other ability in Ditto’s move wheel. PP is displayed as the blue bar at the base of the move wheel — keep an eye on it during long sessions.

When PP runs out completely, Ditto gets tired and slows down — you won’t faint or lose progress, but your movement and efficiency will be noticeably reduced until you eat something. Running out of PP in the middle of a busy building or farming session is genuinely disruptive, so managing your supply and expanding your Max PP as early as possible should be a priority from the start of the game.

How to Restore PP in Pokémon Pokopia

There are four ways to restore PP: eating food, resting, sleeping in your home, and visiting a Pokémon Center.

    1. Eating Food

Consuming food of any kind restores a portion of PP. This includes berries, raw crops like Wheat and Carrots, and cooked meals. Cooked meals generally restore more PP than raw food — and some may provide additional effects on top — but in the early game, berries are your most accessible and reliable PP source.

    Early-game food sources:

    • Lapin Berries — the very first berries you’ll encounter, found on trees with apple-looking fruit scattered around the Withered Wasteland. Press A near a tree to headbutt it and knock the berries loose
    • Leppa Berries — the best PP recovery berry. Grow Leppa Berry trees by watering a patch with Water Gun, then headbutt the grown tree to collect. Keep trees near your base for a consistent local supply
    • Carrots — found buried in the ground around the early areas. Dig them up while exploring
    • Daily Challenges at the PC — completing a Daily Challenge rewards a free Leppa Berry. Check the PC at any Pokémon Center each day for new challenges

Eating tip — hold A for fast full restore: Once you’ve selected a food item and it’s in Ditto’s hands, press and hold A to eat continuously from a stack. This is the fastest way to fully restore PP in the field without opening your inventory repeatedly.

Raw Wheat also restores a small amount of PP and can be eaten directly from your bag. For more on farming Wheat, see our guide to getting Wheat in Pokémon Pokopia.

As you progress, cooked meals become available via cooking stations like the Chopping Board, Bread Oven, and Frying Pan. These are significantly more PP-efficient than raw food, and some also power up specific Moves — Bread, for instance, powers up Cut. For the full list of powered-up moves and their recipes, check our moves and transformations guide.

    2. Resting on a Bed, Chair, or Campfire

If you have a bed or chair placed in your world, sitting or resting on it will gradually restore PP. This is slower than eating, but it’s a useful passive option when you’re waiting for a smelting run or another timed activity to complete. Resting at a Campfire also provides partial PP recovery, though again more slowly than food or the Pokémon Center. These methods are most useful when you want to avoid using up your food supply.

    3. Sleeping in Your Home (Overnight PP Recovery)

Once you’ve built and claimed a home, your character wakes up in their bed at the start of each play session. The more real time that has passed since you last played, the more PP is restored on login. This makes overnight breaks between sessions a free PP refuel — particularly useful during early-game stretches when food is scarce.

Important: If you haven’t built a home yet, you’ll spawn at the Pokémon Center and no overnight PP recovery will occur. Building your first home in the Withered Wasteland as early as possible is strongly recommended — this is one of the best reasons to do it promptly, beyond just unlocking fast travel.

    4. Pokémon Center Healing Machine

Once you’ve rebuilt a Pokémon Center, the healing machine on the right-hand side will fully restore your PP for free — but only once per day (resetting at 5am). This is the most efficient single PP recovery method in the game, since it tops you up completely in one go.

Plan your PP-heavy work sessions around this daily reset — tackle your most Move-intensive tasks (large-scale farming, clearing rumble, decorating habitats) right after using the healing machine to get the most out of your fully restored meter. For a complete guide to rebuilding Pokémon Centers across all five regions, see our Pokémon Center guide.

How to Permanently Increase Max PP in Pokémon Pokopia

Restoring PP is a day-to-day solution — but to reduce how often you need to worry about it, you should be permanently expanding your Max PP through PP Up purchases. A higher Max PP means more Move uses before you need to refuel.

    Where to Buy PP Up

PP Ups are purchased from the PC Shop at any Pokémon Center. Your first PP Up unlocks once you reach Environment Level 3 in the Withered Wasteland. Additional PP Ups become available as you reach Environment Level 3 in each new region — one per region, up to a total of four.

PP Ups are automatically consumed the moment you purchase them — they apply to your Max PP instantly and don’t sit in your bag waiting to be used.

    All PP Up Costs

    PP UpCost (Life Coins)Unlocks At
PP Up 1300Withered Wasteland — Environment Level 3
PP Up 21,000Bleak Beach — Environment Level 3
PP Up 31,500Rocky Ridges — Environment Level 3
PP Up 42,000Sparkling Skylands — Environment Level 3

The total cost across all four PP Ups is 4,800 Life Coins — a significant investment, but one that pays off across the entire game.

Prioritise PP Up Over Other Shop Items

When your PC Shop expands after levelling up the Environment Level, it’s tempting to spend Life Coins on new recipes and decorations. Resist that temptation. PP Up — alongside Packing Tips for bag expansion — should always be your first purchase in each new area. Both are one-time upgrades that permanently improve your core capabilities, and unlike furniture or recipes, they’re only available once per region. Don’t let them sit unbought while you spend Life Coins on other things.

For the full breakdown of Packing Tips and bag expansion costs, see our guide to increasing storage in Pokémon Pokopia.

Tips for Managing PP in Pokémon Pokopia

    • Build your home in the Withered Wasteland as early as possible — this enables overnight PP recovery between sessions. Without a home, you spawn at the Pokémon Center and PP does not recover passively
    • Always carry berries — stock your bag with Leppa Berries from any berry tree before heading out; hold A to quickly eat through a stack and fully restore PP in the field
    • Grab Lapin Berries from trees early — they’re the first PP food source and cost nothing; look for trees with apple-like fruit scattered around the Withered Wasteland
    • Complete Daily Challenges at the PC — each one rewards a free Leppa Berry, and new challenges unlock at each Environment Level. A reliable free top-up every day
    • Cook meals as soon as you can — cooked food provides far better PP recovery than raw berries or Wheat; invest in cooking equipment (Chopping Board, Frying Pan, Bread Oven) early in Rocky Ridges
    • Jump is PP-free — unlike most moves, jumping doesn’t consume PP at all. Reach Magikarp and unlock Jump as soon as possible; our Jump guide explains how
    • Use the Pokémon Center healing machine last thing each session — since it resets at 5am daily, using it at the end of your play session means you start your next one with full PP from both the machine and overnight home recovery
    • Raise Environment Level in each region promptly — the faster you hit Level 3 in a new area, the sooner you unlock the next PP Up. Keep building habitats and raising Comfort Levels to push Environment Level progress

    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I increase PP in Pokémon Pokopia?

There are two approaches: temporarily restore PP by eating food (berries, carrots, crops, or cooked meals), resting on a bed or chair, or using the Pokémon Center healing machine once per day; permanently increase your Max PP by buying PP Up from the PC Shop, available from Environment Level 3 in each region.

How many PP Ups are there in Pokémon Pokopia?

There are four PP Up upgrades in total, one available per region at Environment Level 3. They cost 300, 1,000, 1,500, and 2,000 Life Coins respectively — a combined total of 4,800 Life Coins.

When can I buy the first PP Up in Pokémon Pokopia?

The first PP Up unlocks once you reach Environment Level 3 in the Withered Wasteland. It costs 300 Life Coins from the PC Shop and is automatically applied to your Max PP on purchase — it will not appear in your bag.

Do I need to use PP Up from my bag?

No — PP Up is automatically consumed on purchase and immediately raises your Max PP. It doesn’t appear in your bag at any point.

What’s the best food for restoring PP in Pokémon Pokopia?

Cooked meals provide the best PP recovery per item. In the early game, Leppa Berries are the most efficient option — grow them by watering a patch, then headbutt the tree to harvest. Hold A while eating a stack to continuously restore PP until your bar is full.

What happens when PP runs out in Pokémon Pokopia?

When PP reaches zero, Ditto gets tired and slows down — you do not faint or lose progress. You’ll notice reduced movement speed and efficiency until you eat food or rest to restore PP. Always carry berries to avoid running out mid-session.

Does PP recover while sleeping in Pokémon Pokopia?

Yes — once you’ve built a home, your character wakes up with restored PP each play session. The more real time has passed, the more PP is recovered. If you haven’t built a home yet, you’ll spawn at the Pokémon Center and no overnight PP recovery will occur — build your first home as early as possible.
