What Is Honeycomb Fields in Minecraft Dungeons 2?
Honeycomb Fields is the second major zone you visit in Minecraft Dungeons 2. It comes right after Brave Haven and is recommended for level 2 players. This is where the game really opens up and starts teaching you how quests, NPCs, and overworld exploration work.
The area is a large open Overworld region filled with farms, barns, and fields. Illagers have started causing trouble here, and the local farmers need your help. It sets the tone for the whole game — you are not just running dungeons, you are protecting a living world.

All Quests in Honeycomb Fields
Honeycomb Fields has 4 quests in total. Two are main story quests (gold diamonds on the map) and two are side quests (blue diamonds). You should complete all of them on your first pass. They give you some of the best early gear in the game.
Main Quest 2 — The Illagers from the Rift

This is the first quest that takes place in Honeycomb Fields and the second main story quest overall. It is given by the Cartographer back in Brave Haven.
What happens: You arrive at Honeycomb Fields and find Illagers attacking the Honeycomb Farm. You clear them out and speak with the farmer. He tells you about the Grand Illusioner, who uses a staff to tear open a rift and release glowing blue corrupted monsters into the fields.
You follow the enemies into the rift, defeat them inside, and return to the Overworld. Once you report back to the farmer, the quest is done.
Step-by-step objectives:
- Reach the Honeycomb Farm
- Defeat the Illagers around the farm
- Speak with the farmer
- Defeat the corrupted monsters from the rift
- Enter the rift and pursue the Illagers
- Defeat the enemies inside the rift
- Return to the Overworld and speak to the farmer
First clear reward: Honey Dipper artifact + Sigil of Beeswax + random loot
Tips: Use ranged attacks on the rift enemies when they first appear. They hit hard in close range. Open every chest you see on the path — you will collect a good number of Emeralds just passing through.
Main Quest 3 — The Lost Merchant

This is the third main story quest and the second one in Honeycomb Fields. It is given by the Farmer NPC you meet during the previous quest.
What happens: The farmer has heard rumours that the Illager High Council is exploring the Deep Dark caves in Howling Woods. A merchant who knows more has gone missing. You head out to find him, rescue him from Illagers, recover stolen supplies, and escort him back to Honeycomb Farm.
Step-by-step objectives:
- Speak to the villager at the fast travel point
- Find the missing merchant
- Defeat the Illagers guarding him
- Recover the stolen supplies
- Return to Honeycomb Farm and speak with the merchant
- Interact with the portal to Brave Haven
First clear reward: Beekeeper Veil + Beekeeper Suit + Beekeeper Leggings + Beekeeper Boots (full set)
This full Beekeeper armor set is one of the best early-game sets in the game. Do not skip this quest.
Side Quest — Keeper of the Bees

This side quest is given by the Beekeeper NPC in Honeycomb Fields. It unlocks after you complete The Illagers from the Rift.
What happens: The beekeeper’s hives have been destroyed and the bees are gone. Enemies are to blame. You gather planks, help build new beehives, clear out monsters from several spots, and assess each area before the beekeeper gives you the thumbs up.
Enemies you face: Creepers, Zombies, and other standard Honeycomb Fields enemies.
Step-by-step objectives (summarised):
- Find planks for the beehives
- Collect the planks and return to the Beekeeper
- Find spots to build beehives across the area
- Defeat monsters at each location (repeated across 4 spots)
- Assess the area after clearing
- Build the beehives
- Speak to the Beekeeper to finish
First clear reward: Hivemind Hardhat (guaranteed unique)
This is one of the most important early side quests in the entire game. The Hivemind Hardhat is a guaranteed unique item on first completion. Do this before anything else in Honeycomb Fields once it opens up. Every repeat clear also rewards items from the Honeycomb Fields drop pool and 5 to 45 Emeralds.
For a full breakdown of all items that drop in Honeycomb Fields, see our Honeycomb Fields item drops guide.
Side Quest — The Creeper Candle Conspiracy

This side quest unlocks after you complete The Illagers from the Rift. The quest giver is just east of the Honeycomb Farm fast travel point.
What happens: The farmer’s friend, the Candlemaker, has gone missing. You track him down and learn that Illagers have stolen his powerful Creeper Candles and plan to use them to destroy the village food storage. You need to find and defuse all the candles before it is too late.
Step-by-step walkthrough:
- Speak to the farmer near Honeycomb Farm — he points you to the Candlemaker
- Reach the Candlemaker’s den and talk to him
- Head to his campsite area and retrieve the key to the food cellar
- Enter the food cellar and fight off an Illager ambush inside the underground section
- Pick up the Illager map showing all the candle locations
- Follow the new markers across Honeycomb Fields and defuse each candle
- There are 3 initial candles with light enemy coverage, then a final group of 4 candles near a waterfall
- Defusing the last candle triggers a large, tougher enemy ambush — be ready
- After clearing, speak to the Candlemaker to finish
Important note: Picking up the Illager map does not complete the quest. You must physically go to each candle marker and interact with it to defuse it. If enemies are blocking the candle, clear the fight first, then defuse.
Enemies during this quest (scaling by threat level):
- Illagers (early stages)
- Soul Corrupted Ravagers (threat level 3+)
- Soul Corrupted Royal Guards
- Soul Corrupted Vindicators
- Evokers (threat level 3+)
- Soul Corrupted Evokers (threat level 9)
First clear reward: Creeper Candle artifact
Completing this quest also unlocks the Blowout achievement. The quest escalates hard at higher threat levels, so come prepared if you are replaying it for farming.

Rifts

Honeycomb Fields Soul Storms — Endgame Farming
Soul Storms unlock in Honeycomb Fields after you complete The Final Souldown — the last main story quest. This is when Honeycomb Fields transforms from an early-game zone into a legitimate endgame farming destination.
How Soul Storms work:
- A Soul Storm takes over the zone as a timed event
- Your goal is to destroy 3 Storm Generators
- Each generator is protected by tough enemies including bosses and Soul Corrupted mobs
- Gear drops throughout the event while you fight
- After all 3 generators are destroyed, a reward chest spawns with high-rarity loot
The three Monstrosity bosses (Copper, Redstone, and Sculk) all appear during Soul Storms here. They are among the best endgame farming targets in the game. The Soul Storm reward chest gives roughly an 80% chance of Special rarity and 20% chance of Unique rarity items — far better than regular drops.
Always join a Soul Storm when one spawns in Honeycomb Fields. It is the best way to farm unique gear from this zone in the endgame.

Honeycomb Fields Farming Tips
Here are the most efficient ways to get the most out of Honeycomb Fields on every run:
- Do Keeper of the Bees first. The Hivemind Hardhat on first clear is worth it alone. Do not rush past this.
- Open every chest on the path. The routes through Honeycomb Fields are filled with chests. Emeralds add up fast in the early game.
- Use the minecart stations. There are 2 stations in the area. Use them to fast travel and plan your farming routes efficiently.
- Run dungeons for Echo Shards. The 7 dungeon entrances give you consistent Echo Shard income. Spend them regularly — you can only hold 100 at a time.
- The Creeper Candle Conspiracy escalates hard on repeats. At high threat levels, Soul Corrupted Evokers and Ravagers appear. Bring your best gear if you are farming this quest.
- Soul Storms are the priority in endgame. The 3 Monstrosity bosses that spawn here are top-tier farming targets. Always stop what you are doing when a Soul Storm starts.
- Normal difficulty is fine for most drops, but switching to Hard boosts unique chances further.
