What Is Rainy Plains in Minecraft Dungeons 2?

Rainy Plains is the fifth major region in Minecraft Dungeons 2. It comes after the Deep Dark and is recommended for level 21 players. This is where the mid-game begins in earnest. Enemies hit harder, the bosses are bigger, and the stakes in the story go up significantly.

The region is defined by its tower network. Illager towers rise across the wetlands, each holding an Ichor Core that controls the bridges between them. The Supreme Evoker has been running soul-powered experiments here, and you need to storm the towers one by one to reach and stop them.

Rainy Plains also has the largest dungeon and rift count outside of Howling Woods, making it one of the best mid-game farming zones once the story clears.

    Rainy Plains quick stats:

    • Recommended level: 21
    • Minecart stations: 5
    • Dungeon entrances: 9
    • Rift entrances: 10
    • Merchants: 3 (at Puddle Pond)
    • Total quests: 5 (1 main, 4 side)

If you have not cleared the Deep Dark yet, see our Deep Dark guide first. New players should check the beginner guide for the full system overview.

    How to Unlock Rainy Plains

Rainy Plains unlocks after you complete The Missing Note Blocks — main quest 8 of 15. That quest ends at Woodcutter’s Outpost in Howling Woods. From there, the next story objective sends you to the Rainy Plains region directly.

Speak with the Cartographer in Brave Haven to officially start Wading Rainy Plains, then interact with the Rainy Plains entrance portal to arrive. The first fast travel point you can use is at Puddle Pond village.

Rainy Plains Merchant Village — Puddle Pond

Puddle Pond is the central village in Rainy Plains and your main base of operations for the region. It has a full set of merchants so you do not need to travel back to Brave Haven or Howling Woods during your session.

    • Town Merchant — Sells gear at your current power level
    • Blacksmith — Upgrades item power using Echo Shards
    • Enchantsmith — Adds and removes enchantments

Puddle Pond also has its own minecart station. Use it as your home base between quest runs and dungeon sessions. For making the most of your upgrades, see our Blacksmithing guide and salvaging guide.

    Minecart Stations in Rainy Plains

Rainy Plains has 5 minecart stations — one at each key landmark. They are essential for navigating the tower network efficiently. Each station also serves as a fast travel point for farming runs.

    • White Tower
    • Orange Tower
    • Red Tower
    • Puddle Pond
    • Monsoon Banks

The Supreme Evoker’s Tower does not have its own minecart station. You reach it by crossing the bridge from the Red Tower during the main quest.

Main Quest 9 — Wading Rainy Plains

Minecraft Dungeons 2 Wading Rainy Plains
Minecraft Dungeons 2 Wading Rainy Plains

This is the ninth main story quest and the only main quest in this region. It is one of the longest quests in the game with 29 objectives. It involves storming four towers in sequence to reach the Supreme Evoker and the Copper Monstrosity.

What happens: The Cartographer sends you to Rainy Plains to recover a stolen Note Block. You arrive at Woodcutter’s Outpost and follow a villager who fled from the region to Puddle Pond. The Inventor there has been watching the Supreme Evoker’s tower experiments through a telescope. He tells you the Evoker has mined all the copper in the area to build something monstrous at the top of the central tower. Each tower holds a bridge control mechanism — an Ichor Core. You need to storm each tower, claim its core, and cross the linked bridge to reach the next one.

    Tower order and objectives:

    1. Return to Woodcutter’s Outpost and speak to the Villager
    2. Find Puddle Pond Village and ask around for information
    3. Speak to the Inventor near the telescope
    4. Find the first bridge
    5. Place the Ichor Core to open the bridge
    6. Cross the bridge to the White Tower
    7. Find the White Tower’s Ichor Core inside the tower
    8. Find the bridge to the Orange Tower and place the Ichor Core
    9. Find the bridge to the Red Tower and place the Ichor Core
    10. Find the bridge to the Supreme Evoker’s Tower and place the Ichor Core
    11. Reach and enter the Supreme Evoker’s Tower
    12. Search for the Supreme Evoker
    13. Defeat the ambush inside the tower
    14. Check on the Villager
    15. Go after the Supreme Evoker
    16. Investigate the copper
    17. Defeat the Copper Monstrosity
    18. Search for and collect the Note Block
    19. Return to Puddle Pond Village and speak to the Villager to finish

Bosses: Supreme Evoker, Evoker (ambush), Copper Monstrosity

Repeat run reward: Scythe (Special rarity) + random loot from Rainy Plains pool

Unlocks after completion: Hiking Frozen Highlands, Illegal Illager Trials, Recycling Your Monstrosity, The Copper Monstrosity Revived, The Rusting Golem, Wildflower Warrior

The Four Towers of Rainy Plains
The Four Towers of Rainy Plains

The Four Towers of Rainy Plains

The tower sequence is the heart of the Wading Rainy Plains quest. Each tower has the same goal — fight your way to the top, find the Ichor Core pedestal, and activate it to unlock the next bridge. Here is what to expect inside each one.

    White Tower

The first tower you enter. Climb through the stone interior and head toward the bright yellow doorway at the top. It leads to a square chamber with a cyan-rune pedestal in the centre and barred cages along one wall. Interact with the pedestal to place the Ichor Core. This opens the bridge to the Orange Tower.

The White Tower is the lightest in terms of enemy resistance. Use it to gauge how well your gear handles the region’s enemies before the later, harder towers.

Secret: From the White Tower minecart station, head north until you reach an area of water with platforms. Jump across the platforms to reach a hidden location. There is a secret chest here containing the Thrifty Pendant Talisman — which grants up to 50% bonus damage based on how many Emeralds you are carrying. Do not miss this on your first pass.

    Orange Tower

The second tower. Its core chamber has the same layout as the White Tower — a square floor with a central glowing pedestal. Clear the enemies, interact with the pedestal, and the bridge to the Red Tower opens. The Orange Tower has 4 chests inside, making it worth clearing thoroughly on farming runs.

    Red Tower

The third tower. Climb to the matching chamber and use the central pedestal to open the bridge toward the Supreme Evoker’s Tower. The Red Tower is where things escalate. Soul Corrupted enemies begin appearing here from certain threat levels — including Soul Corrupted Royal Guards, Soul Corrupted Vindicators, and Soul Corrupted Ravagers. Come prepared for harder fights than the first two towers.

The Red Tower is also the starting point for the Illegal Illager Trials side quest. After the main quest is complete, you return here to investigate what the Illagers are doing with the Supreme Evoker’s abandoned experiments.

    The Supreme Evoker’s Tower

The fourth and final tower. This is where both major boss encounters happen. Cross the bridge from the Red Tower, reach the tower, and enter. Inside, you will encounter an Evoker ambush first — fight your way through it and check on a captured villager. Then go after the Supreme Evoker deeper in the tower.

After defeating the Supreme Evoker, investigate the copper structure it was building. That interaction triggers the Copper Monstrosity boss fight. Once the Copper Monstrosity is defeated, collect the Note Block before leaving. Return to Puddle Pond to complete the quest.

    Boss Guides — Rainy Plains

    The Supreme Evoker

The Supreme Evoker appears for the first time here in Rainy Plains. It has 1,000 health and 650 poise — the lowest health of any boss in the game. However, it almost never fights alone and should not be underestimated.

    Attacks:

    • Enchanted Projectiles — Fires six projectiles in a horizontal pattern. The hardest hit in this fight at 8 base damage. Do not stand close when this fires — all six can hit you at once.
    • Fang Trap — Summons fangs from the ground in a straight line toward you. When you see the wind-up animation, dodge sideways rather than backing directly away.
    • Summon Illagers — Calls Illager reinforcements into the arena.
    • Summon Vexes — Summons flying Vexes that chase you. Do not let several accumulate — they disrupt your movement and focus.
    • Teleport Flee — Teleports away to maintain distance when you get too close.
    • Shield — Protects itself with a shield that you need to break before dealing full damage again.

How to beat it: The Supreme Evoker has no resistances and no damage type you need to avoid. Keep your distance and use ranged attacks as your main damage source — it will constantly try to teleport away from melee anyway. When the Fang Trap fires, dodge sideways. Break the shield when it activates and resume DPS. Clear the summoned Vexes quickly so they do not pile up. This fight is more about staying mobile than raw damage.

Note: You fight the Supreme Evoker again in The Final Souldown. Same kit, higher health in that context.

    The Copper Monstrosity

The Copper Monstrosity is the main event of Rainy Plains and the tankiest boss in the entire game. It has 2,400 health and 1,200 poise — more health than the final boss. This fight punishes passive, stationary play hard.

    Stats:

    • Health: 2,400
    • Poise: 1,200
    • Hardest hit: 30 (Redstone Projectile)
    • Weakness: Poison (+50% damage)
    • Resistance: Lightning (35% resistance)

    Attacks:

    • Swipe Chain — Three swipe attacks in sequence, including a forward double-hand swipe. Dodge behind or away from it to avoid the arc.
    • Redstone Projectile — Deals up to 30 base damage. Dodge-roll sideways rather than trying to tank it.
    • Lightning Arena Traces — Creates lightning effects across the arena floor. When a yellow ring marks the floor around it, move beyond the ring before the electric columns strike. Return to attack once the effect clears.
    • Arena Dash — The Copper Monstrosity charges across the full arena. The moment it lines up a long path, stop attacking and move perpendicular to its trajectory. Do not stand in its path.
    • Minion Summons — Spawns Copper Cubes that roll toward heroes. Clear them when they start interfering with your movement, then refocus on the boss.

    How to beat it:

    • Use poison damage if you have it. Poison deals 50% more damage to the Copper Monstrosity. This is the most impactful thing you can do to shorten the fight.
    • Do not use lightning weapons. They deal 35% less damage here. Swap them out before the fight.
    • Never stand still beside it. The Copper Monstrosity hits hard enough that a build that felt safe earlier in Rainy Plains can collapse quickly at point-blank range. Keep moving.
    • Move perpendicular to its dash. The arena charge covers the full arena. Stepping sideways is the safe direction — backwards is not fast enough.
    • Watch for the lightning ring. When a yellow ring marks the floor, move outside the ring immediately. The electric columns that follow deal heavy damage.
    • Save potions for the boss. Do not spend your potion and artifacts on the ambush fight before entering the tower. Enter the boss arena with full resources.
    • Bring a companion. A summoned companion can pull the boss’s attention during the dash and minion phases, giving you free attack windows.

First quest clear reward: Random loot

Copper Monstrosity Revived first clear reward: Stormcaller (guaranteed unique — lightning attacks deal 25% more damage)

All Side Quests in Rainy Plains

Side Quest — Recycling Your Monstrosity

This side quest unlocks after completing Wading Rainy Plains. It is given by the Inventor at Puddle Pond.

What happens: A group of Illagers scavenged the copper remains of the defeated Copper Monstrosity and are trying to transport it out of Rainy Plains to build a new one. You chase the Illager convoy across the region in three waves, defeat each group, search the copper barrel they were carrying, and bring the copper back to the Inventor.

    Objectives:

    1. Pursue the Illager convoy (x3 waves)
    2. Defeat the Illagers at each stop (Vindicators and Pillagers)
    3. Search the copper barrel after each defeat
    4. Third convoy: full arena fight
    5. Bring the recovered copper to the Inventor

First clear reward: Pride of the Plains (guaranteed unique)

Pride of the Plains is a unique melee weapon with special reach and damage scaling. It is a guaranteed drop with no RNG — the first clear always gives it. Do this quest as soon as it unlocks.

Side Quest — Illegal Illager Trials

This side quest unlocks after completing Wading Rainy Plains. Puddle Pond villagers have heard that rogue Illagers are continuing the Supreme Evoker’s soul-corruption experiments on themselves after the boss was defeated.

What happens: You travel to the Red Tower to investigate. Inside, you free a captured villager and defeat the mad Illagers. Two groups of soul-corrupted Illagers escape and you track them down in two more encounters across Rainy Plains. You return to Puddle Pond after eliminating all of them.

    Objectives:

    1. Head to the Red Tower
    2. Investigate the tower
    3. Free the captured Villager
    4. Defeat the Illagers (Evoker boss fight included)
    5. Track and defeat the first group of soul-corrupted Illagers
    6. Track and defeat the second group of soul-corrupted Illagers
    7. Return to Puddle Pond

Evoker boss fight tip: The Evoker during this quest summons Vexes and uses Fang Trap — the same kit as a standard Evoker. Keep distance, dodge the fang line sideways, and clear the Vexes before they stack up. It tries to maintain range so bows work well here.

First clear reward: Armadillo Amulet Talisman + Corrupted Seeds artifact (Special rarity)

The Armadillo Amulet reduces rolling cooldown by up to 45% at max level — one of the best mobility Talismans in the game. For the full Talisman system, see our Talisman guide.

    Side Quest — Wildflower Warrior

This side quest unlocks after completing Wading Rainy Plains. You find a lost Gatherer NPC out in the wetlands who needs your help gathering flowers and getting home safely.

What happens: You find the Gatherer and speak to them. You then help them collect flowers from three different spots across Rainy Plains, defeating Ravager-heavy enemy groups at each location. With the flowers collected, you escort the Gatherer home through a final Illager ambush and speak to them at Puddle Pond to finish.

    Objectives:

    1. Find the lost Gatherer and speak to them
    2. Find flowers at three locations (Ravagers, Pillagers, Vindicators at each)
    3. Bring the flowers to the Gatherer
    4. Lead the Gatherer toward home
    5. Defeat the Illager ambush
    6. Lead the Gatherer home
    7. Speak to the Gatherer to complete

Repeat run reward: Healing Heart Talisman

The Healing Heart Talisman restores up to 10% health per second after 5 seconds out of combat at max level. It is one of the most useful sustainability Talismans in the game for solo play. Repeat clears also reward random Rainy Plains loot.

Side Quest — The Copper Monstrosity Revived (Boss Rematch)

This side quest unlocks after defeating the Copper Monstrosity in Wading Rainy Plains. Find the Boss Totem in Rainy Plains to activate it.

What it is: A rematch against the Copper Monstrosity. Same fight, scaled to your current level. This is the go-to farming run for the Stormcaller unique weapon and for general Rainy Plains loot.

First clear reward: Stormcaller (guaranteed unique — lightning attacks deal 25% more damage)

After the first clear, each boss kill has a 16.7% unique drop rate from the Rainy Plains pool. Farm this rematch regularly in the endgame for consistent high-quality drops.

Side Quest — The Rusting Golem

This side quest unlocks after completing Wading Rainy Plains. It involves an Echo Golem in Rainy Plains who has had a Soul Block stolen by Illagers.

    Objectives:

    1. Track down the Illagers
    2. Defeat the Illagers
    3. Pick up the Soul Block
    4. Return to the Echo Golem
    5. Place the Soul Block

Reward: Emeralds (5 to 45 per clear)

The Rusting Golem does not have a unique first-clear item reward, but it is short and provides Emeralds on every repeat. Good to knock out quickly when you are in the area.

    Enemies in Rainy Plains

Rainy Plains introduces Soul Corrupted variants of enemies you have seen before, ramping up the threat significantly compared to earlier regions.

    Standard enemies (overworld and towers):

    • Baby Zombie (Orange Tower)
    • Charged Creeper (Orange Tower, Soul Storms)
    • Chicken Jockey (Orange Tower)
    • Geomancer
    • Pillager
    • Vindicator
    • Ravager

Soul Corrupted enemies (White Tower and higher threat levels):

    • Soul Corrupted Royal Guard (White Tower threat level 2+, Illegal Illager Trials, Wading Rainy Plains)
    • Soul Corrupted Vindicator (White Tower, Illegal Illager Trials, Wading Rainy Plains, Soul Storms)
    • Soul Corrupted Ravager (White Tower threat level 3+, Illegal Illager Trials, Wading Rainy Plains threat level 3+)

    Bosses:

    • Supreme Evoker — Wading Rainy Plains
    • Evoker (ambush) — Wading Rainy Plains and Illegal Illager Trials
    • Copper Monstrosity (2,400 HP) — Wading Rainy Plains and The Copper Monstrosity Revived

    Soul Storm bosses (post-game):

    • Copper Cube (throughout)
    • Copper Monstrosity (Soul Storm version)
    • Redstone Monstrosity (Soul Storm)
    • Sculk Monstrosity (Soul Storm)

Rainy Plains Loot — What Can Drop Here?

Rainy Plains has a total loot pool of 41 items, including 16 unique weapons and 16 unique armor pieces. This matches Frozen Highlands and makes it one of the two best mid-game farming zones in the game.

Armor Sets That Drop in Rainy Plains

    • Ranger set — Cap, Jacket, Leggings, Boots. Light armor for ranged builds. Unique version is the Sharpshooter set.
    • Realmreacher set — Hat, Robe, Leggings, Boots. Light armor. Pieces also drop from the Witch Revived boss rematch in Howling Woods.
    • Scamp set — Hood, Jacket, Leggings, Sneakers.
    • Treehugger set — Mask, Chestplate, Leggings, Clogs. Medium armor for nature-themed builds.

    Notable Unique Weapons

    • Pride of the Plains — Guaranteed first clear of Recycling Your Monstrosity. Unique reach and damage scaling.
    • Stormcaller — Guaranteed first clear of The Copper Monstrosity Revived. Lightning attacks deal 25% more damage.
    • Venomous Fangs — Drops in Howling Woods, the Deep Dark, and Rainy Plains. Poison attacks deal 20% more damage.
    • The Darkshard — Drops in Honeycomb Fields, Singer’s Meadow, and Rainy Plains. Pulls nearby enemies toward you on hit.
    • Prime Enchanter’s Gauntlets — Drops in Frozen Highlands, Rainy Plains, and Lullaby Hills. Jump attacks create waves of lightning and ice.
    • Frostbiter — Notable mid-game weapon available in Rainy Plains.

For the complete list with effects and drop locations, see our all unique items guide.

    Dungeons and Rifts

Rainy Plains has 9 dungeon entrances and 10 rift entrances. One dungeon has the objective Defeat the Redstone Monstrosity — a boss encounter available as a post-story dungeon run. One rift has the objective Defeat the Sculk Monstrosity.

For how Rifts work and what to expect inside them, see our Rifts guide.

    Rainy Plains Soul Storms

Soul Storms unlock in Rainy Plains after you complete The Final Souldown. Rainy Plains is one of the seven rotating Soul Storm zones in the game.

During a Soul Storm here, the three Monstrosity bosses (Copper, Redstone, and Sculk) can appear as enemies guarding the Storm Generators on Hard difficulty. These are the same three bosses that drive the whole mid-to-late story. In Soul Storm form they are scaled up and very tough.

Why Rainy Plains Soul Storms are worth farming:

    • Storm reward chests have no Common drops — roughly 80% Special and 20% Unique per item
    • Special items from Storm chests have 3 modifiers instead of the usual 2
    • Three Monstrosity boss types can appear, each with a 16.7% unique drop rate on their item drops
    • With 16 unique weapons and 16 unique armor pieces in the loot pool, the odds of rolling something useful are high

Always join a Soul Storm in Rainy Plains over running regular dungeons. The reward quality difference is significant. For more on the endgame loop, see our max level cap guide.

    Rainy Plains Farming Tips

    • Do Recycling Your Monstrosity immediately after Wading Rainy Plains. Pride of the Plains is a guaranteed unique on first clear and requires no RNG farming. It is one of the easiest guaranteed uniques in the game to collect.
    • Farm The Copper Monstrosity Revived for Stormcaller. Guaranteed on first rematch clear, and repeat kills have a 16.7% unique rate. This is one of the best early mid-game farming loops.
    • Do not use lightning weapons on the Copper Monstrosity. It has a 35% lightning resistance. Swap to poison damage if possible — it has a 50% poison weakness. This alone can cut the fight time significantly.
    • Get the Thrifty Pendant Talisman from the White Tower area. Head north from the White Tower station to the water platform puzzle. The secret chest there gives a Talisman that scales damage with your Emerald count — up to 50% extra at Tier 3.
    • Use the five minecart stations to plan farming routes. Each tower has its own station. You can fast travel directly to the Red Tower or Orange Tower for quick dungeon and rift runs without walking the whole region.
    • Hard difficulty is required for meaningful loot. Easy disables all Unique and Special drops. Always run Normal at a minimum — Hard for the best rates.
    • Run rifts and dungeons between Soul Storms. With 9 dungeon entrances and 10 rifts, Rainy Plains has enough content to fill the time between Soul Storm events. Use the downtime to farm Echo Shards and hit the Blacksmith at Puddle Pond. Echo Shards cap at 100 — spend them regularly. See our enchantments guide for what to prioritise.
    • Save artifacts and potions before entering towers. Do not spend your cooldowns on the enemies in the approach. Enter the boss arena with everything ready.

What level is Rainy Plains in Minecraft Dungeons 2?

Rainy Plains is recommended for level 21 players. It is the fifth major region in the game, unlocked after completing The Missing Note Blocks quest in Howling Woods.

How do I unlock Rainy Plains?

Complete The Missing Note Blocks — main quest 8 of 15. After that, speak with the Cartographer in Brave Haven to start Wading Rainy Plains and interact with the Rainy Plains entrance portal to arrive.

What order do the towers go in Rainy Plains?

The tower order in Wading Rainy Plains is: White Tower first, then Orange Tower, then Red Tower, and finally the Supreme Evoker’s Tower. Each tower has an Ichor Core pedestal that opens the bridge to the next one.

How do I beat the Copper Monstrosity?

Use poison damage — the Copper Monstrosity takes 50% more from poison attacks. Avoid lightning weapons entirely as it resists them by 35%. Never stand still beside it, move perpendicular when it dashes across the arena, and move outside the yellow ring on the floor when you see it appear to avoid the lightning columns. Save your potion and artifacts for the boss itself — do not spend them on the approach ambush.

What is the guaranteed unique item from Rainy Plains?

There are two guaranteed uniques. Pride of the Plains drops on the first clear of the Recycling Your Monstrosity side quest — no RNG required. Stormcaller drops on the first clear of The Copper Monstrosity Revived boss rematch. Both are worth collecting immediately.

Where is the secret Talisman in Rainy Plains?

From the White Tower minecart station, head north to an area of water with platforms. Jump across the platforms to reach a hidden location with a secret chest. It contains the Thrifty Pendant Talisman, which grants up to 50% bonus damage based on your Emerald count at Tier 3.

Are there merchants in Rainy Plains?

Yes. Puddle Pond village in the centre of Rainy Plains has a Town Merchant, Blacksmith, and Enchantsmith. You do not need to return to Brave Haven or Howling Woods to upgrade gear during your Rainy Plains session.

Do Soul Storms come to Rainy Plains?

Yes. After completing The Final Souldown, Rainy Plains becomes one of the seven rotating Soul Storm zones. The Copper, Redstone, and Sculk Monstrosities can appear during Hard-difficulty Soul Storms here. Storm reward chests give roughly a 20% unique drop rate — the best in the game outside of boss kills.

How many dungeons and rifts does Rainy Plains have?

Rainy Plains has 9 dungeon entrances and 10 rift entrances. One dungeon features a Redstone Monstrosity encounter and one rift features a Sculk Monstrosity encounter, making it one of the best mid-game zones for Echo Shard farming between Soul Storm events.
