MW4 DMZ How to Place a Transmitter on Top of 2 Radio Towers

    TL;DR

    • Placing transmitters on 2 Radio Towers is part of the Triangulation Order in the Underground chapter of DMZ Orders.
    • Radio Towers are not the same as UAV Towers — look for the orange Order Objective icon on your Tac-Map.
    • There are 7 Radio Towers on Hajin, but only 5 activate per deployment. Any 2 of the active ones count.
    • Climb to the top of each tower and hold the interact button when the “PLACE RADIO TRANSMITTER” prompt appears.
    • After both towers, you must also place a third transmitter on top of La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf to finish Triangulation.
    • You need no special items — the transmitter interaction is built into the tower platform.
    • Completing this Order closes out the Underground chapter’s first page and rewards crafting recipes.

What Is the Triangulation Order in MW4 DMZ?

Triangulation is Order 03 on page 2 of DMZ Orders, sitting inside the Underground chapter (1/2). It is the third and final order on the first Underground page, coming after Eye in the Sky and Watch for Bumps. Completing it closes out the page and unlocks the next set of Orders after a successful exfil.

    The order has two objectives:

    1. Place a Transmitter on Top of 2 Radio Towers
    2. Place a Transmitter on Top of La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf

You can complete both in the same deployment. This guide covers every step — where to find the towers, how to climb them, and exactly where to interact on each structure.

For tips on surviving deployments while completing Orders, see the MW4 DMZ Wanted and Hunter system guide to understand how other players may be tracking you while you work through objectives.

Radio Towers vs UAV Towers — Know the Difference

This is the single most important thing before you start. Radio Towers and UAV Towers are not the same structure. Confusing them is the number one reason players spend extra time on this Order.

    • Radio Towers (also called Lieutenant Hunt Towers) are tall lattice metal pylons — the kind you would see carrying high-voltage power lines. They have ladder access and platforms at different heights. These are the towers you need for Triangulation.
    • UAV Towers are the electronic terminals found at fixed positions around Hajin that you interact with at ground level to activate UAV surveillance. You do not climb these.

When the Triangulation Order is active, eligible Radio Towers will show an orange circle labeled “ORDER OBJECTIVE” when you zoom into the Tac-Map. You can ping a tower with the Up button on the D-pad to mark it for your squad and set a route.

All Radio Tower Locations in Hajin

There are 7 Radio Towers spread across Hajin. Only 5 of them activate per deployment — which 5 rotate each match. Any 2 of the active towers in your current deployment count toward the Triangulation Order. You do not need to find specific ones.

Here are all 7 confirmed Radio Tower locations:

    • Deadtown — South of Deadtown, accessible via ladders at each platform stage. One of the more straightforward climbs on the map.
    • Tong-il Village — Located in the northern section of the map near Tong-il Village.
    • Wolves Stadium — Sits on a hill in the southern part of the map near Wolves Stadium. Medium threat area. Accessible by following a dirt path uphill toward the fenced tower.
    • South Korean Border Zone (East) — Near the eastern Russian/South Korean border crossing.
    • South Korean Border Zone (West) — Near the western border area.
    • South Island (North) — Located on the northern part of South Island off Hajin’s southeastern coastline.
    • South Island (South) — On the southern tip of South Island.

When you load into a deployment with Triangulation active, open your Tac-Map and zoom in using R1 (PlayStation) or RB (Xbox). The active Radio Towers will be marked with the orange ORDER OBJECTIVE circle. Pick the closest two and plan your route.

How to Climb a Radio Tower in MW4 DMZ

Every Radio Tower requires a climb to reach the placement point. The exact route depends on which tower you choose — layouts differ between towers. Here is the general process:

Step 1 — Approach the Tower Base

Get close to the tower and look for the base structure. A small radio tower icon will appear as a directional indicator when you are in range, guiding you toward the climbable entry point. Most towers have a ladder or a series of mantleable girders starting from ground level.

Step 2 — Climb to the Highest Platform

Different towers use different traversal mechanics:

    • The Deadtown tower uses a series of clearly marked ladders leading up through several platform stages. Climb each ladder in sequence until you reach the highest level. This is the most straightforward tower on the map.
    • The North Korean Wilderness / other lattice towers require jumping and mantling along girders. Look for the climbable angle and work your way up by jumping between the structural crossbeams. Stay patient — the climb requires precision but not speed.

Keep going up until you are on the highest accessible platform. Do not stop at intermediate platforms — the transmitter placement point is only at the very top.

Step 3 — Find and Use the Transmitter Prompt

Once you are at the top, move around the central mast and the four corner posts of the platform. The “PLACE RADIO TRANSMITTER” prompt appears when you are facing the correct spot — usually near the central beam or the side of the mast that faces outward.

Hold the interact button when the prompt appears. The placement animation plays and your objective counter ticks from 0/2 to 1/2. The interaction takes only a moment.

Step 4 — Descend and Repeat at a Second Tower

After placing the first transmitter, descend from the tower. Some towers have a button-operated descent or rappel option; others require you to climb back down the same route. Once on the ground, mark the second active Radio Tower on your Tac-Map and travel to it.

Repeat the climb at the second tower. When you place the transmitter there, the counter reaches 2/2 and the first Triangulation objective is marked complete.

Enemies to Expect Around Radio Towers

Radio Towers are not heavily guarded, but they are not empty either.

    • Most towers have light enemy presence at the base. A small number of AI soldiers can patrol the surrounding area.
    • Enemies can spawn nearby while you are mid-climb. You cannot shoot back easily while hanging from girders, so clearing the base area before you start climbing is the safest approach.
    • The towers are exposed, elevated positions. If another player squad is in the area, climbing a tower makes you a visible target. Check your surroundings at the top before spending time finding the placement prompt.
    • The Wolves Stadium tower is in a medium-threat zone, so expect more resistance compared to towers in lower-threat regions.

Quick tip: if your squad includes a dedicated sniper or support player, have them stay at the base and watch for incoming enemies while the rest of the squad climbs and places the transmitter. This removes the most significant risk from the objective.

How to Place the Final Transmitter on La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf

After completing the two Radio Tower placements, Triangulation’s second objective activates: place a transmitter on top of La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf.

    Where Is La Grande Vie?

La Grande Vie is a tall luxury residential tower located in the northern residential area of Songdo Wharf, on the eastern side of Hajin City near the waterfront. Its grid reference is H7 on the Tac-Map. Songdo Wharf is rated as a Low threat zone, making this the least dangerous part of the Triangulation Order.

If you are traveling from the main Hajin City area, the elevated railway provides a fast vehicle route into Songdo Wharf heading east. Mark La Grande Vie on your Tac-Map before you leave the second Radio Tower to set the waypoint.

    How to Reach the Rooftop

La Grande Vie is a multi-story building. The entry route works like this:

    1. Enter through the ground floor. Find an entrance to the building and go inside.
    2. Take the elevator upward. An elevator inside the building takes you most of the way up — but not all the way to the roof. Ride it to the highest floor it reaches.
    3. Switch to the stairs. From the top floor the elevator reaches, look for the stairwell. Take the stairs the rest of the way up. The roof is accessible from the top of the internal staircase.
    4. Reach the rooftop antenna. On the roof, locate the antenna mast rising above the building. This is the placement point.
    5. Interact with the antenna. The transmitter prompt appears at the antenna. Hold interact to place the final transmitter.

Some players report not finding the elevator immediately and taking the stairs the entire way up from the ground floor — both routes get you there. If you cannot find the elevator quickly, head straight for any stairwell and work your way up floor by floor.

Expect a small number of enemies in the stairwells of La Grande Vie. Clear them as you move up to avoid getting caught in a firefight while trying to place the transmitter on the roof.

    Confirming Both Objectives

After placing the rooftop transmitter, check your objective tracker to confirm both counters are complete:

    • Place a Transmitter on Top of 2 Radio Towers — 2/2
    • Place a Transmitter on Top of La Grande Vie in Songdo Wharf — Complete

If this is the last of the three Underground 1/2 Orders you needed, a “LEVEL UP / NEW REWARDS” banner appears on screen confirming the page is finished. You still need to successfully exfil for the progress to save and the next Orders page to unlock.

What Rewards Do You Get for Completing Triangulation?

Triangulation itself does not pay out individual rewards — the DMZ Orders system pays out when you complete an entire page, not a single Order. Finishing all three Underground 1/2 Orders (Eye in the Sky, Watch for Bumps, and Triangulation) and exfilling successfully unlocks the Underground chapter page rewards.

The Underground chapter’s page rewards include crafting recipes. Confirmed Underground chapter rewards include:

    • DDOS recipe
    • Decoy Grenade recipe
    • Night Vision Goggles recipe

These recipes unlock items you can then craft at your 3D Printer at the FOB between deployments. Night Vision Goggles in particular are directly useful for future missions involving dark indoor environments — including any follow-up Underground chapter Orders.

Completing the first Underground page also unlocks the Underground 2/2 page, advancing your DMZ Orders progression and eventually leading to the Operation Shopping Hacks Story Mission that closes out the chapter. For that mission’s full walkthrough including the Lab Door robot core puzzle, see the MW4 DMZ how to power the Lab Door with Robot Cores guide.

    Tips for Completing Triangulation Efficiently

    • Start with the closest two active towers. Do not travel across the entire map for specific towers. Open the Tac-Map at the start of the deployment and pick the two marked ORDER OBJECTIVE towers that are closest to your spawn point.
    • Clear the base before climbing. Taking a bullet mid-climb means either dying or having to stop and fight from an exposed position. Spend sixty seconds clearing the immediate area before you start going up.
    • Don’t confuse the Order Objective icon with the UAV Tower icon. UAV Towers do not have an orange ORDER OBJECTIVE circle around them. If the tower does not have that icon, it is the wrong structure.
    • Move around the entire top platform if the prompt does not appear. The interaction point is on the mast — not always immediately obvious when you first arrive at the summit. Walk the perimeter of the highest platform and face inward toward the central beam to trigger the prompt.
    • Take the elevated railway to Songdo Wharf. It is significantly faster than driving surface roads across the map when heading east for La Grande Vie.
    • Check both objective counters before leaving La Grande Vie. If the radio tower count shows less than 2/2 when you reach the rooftop, you may have missed a tower interaction earlier. Confirm everything is ticked before you start the exfil run.
    • This is a low-combat Order. You are not required to fight anyone for Triangulation. If you encounter other player squads between towers, consider avoiding the confrontation and prioritizing the objectives — especially if your Operator has good progress invested in them. For tips on staying off the radar, see the Scout Traits section of the MW4 DMZ all Operator Traits guide.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the Radio Towers for the Triangulation Order in MW4 DMZ?

There are 7 Radio Towers on Hajin, located near Deadtown, Tong-il Village, Wolves Stadium, South Island (North), South Island (South), and both eastern and western South Korean border zones. Only 5 activate per deployment. Open your Tac-Map and zoom in to find the ones marked with the orange ORDER OBJECTIVE icon. Any 2 of the active towers count.

What is the difference between Radio Towers and UAV Towers in MW4 DMZ?

Radio Towers are tall lattice metal pylons that you physically climb using ladders or by mantling along girders. UAV Towers are ground-level electronic terminals you interact with from the base. Only Radio Towers count for the Triangulation Order. They will show an orange ORDER OBJECTIVE circle on the Tac-Map when Triangulation is active.

Where exactly do you place the transmitter on a Radio Tower?

Climb to the very top of the tower — the highest accessible platform. Move around the central mast and the corner posts until the “PLACE RADIO TRANSMITTER” prompt appears on screen. Hold the interact button to complete the placement. The prompt is typically on the side of the mast facing outward.

Where is La Grande Vie in MW4 DMZ?

La Grande Vie is a tall luxury residential building in the northern part of Songdo Wharf on the eastern side of Hajin City, at grid H7 on the Tac-Map. Songdo Wharf is a Low threat zone. Take the elevated railway heading east for the fastest vehicle route in.

Do I need any special items to place transmitters in MW4 DMZ?

No. The transmitter placement is a built-in interaction at the top of each structure. You do not need to carry or craft any items before starting. Just reach the top and hold interact when the prompt appears.

What happens after I complete Triangulation?

If Triangulation is the last of the three Underground 1/2 Orders you needed, a LEVEL UP / NEW REWARDS banner appears. You must then successfully exfil from Hajin for the page to complete and the Underground 2/2 Orders page to unlock. Failing to extract before the end of the deployment means the Order progress is not saved.
