Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Chapter 6 walkthrough covers every step of What Lies Beneath — creature evasion, light puzzles, Daedalus's Key, the Sica blade, and all 28 collectibles.

TL;DR – Quick Summary

  • Chapter 6 is called What Lies Beneath — Sophia falls deep underground and must escape a terrifying creature.
  • There are 5 sub-chapters: Lost, The Creature, False Hope, Minoan Machinery, and The Architect.
  • This is the biggest collectible chapter in the game — 28 collectibles total: 1 Blade, 2 Artefacts, 3 Charms, and 22 Resonance Points.

  • You unlock a major new tool here: Daedalus’s Key, which opens ancient Minoan doors throughout the rest of the game.
  • The chapter features an optional light puzzle to earn Blade 3 — the Sica. The solution is included below.
  • Resonance Points do not carry over via chapter select — all others can be grabbed later.

The Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Chapter 6 walkthrough covers What Lies Beneath in full — one of the most atmospheric and tense chapters in the game. After Faro ambushes Sophia and Leni at the central temple, Sophia gets kicked down into a deep hole in the floor. Leni sends the sphere tumbling after her and Sophia wakes up alone in a pitch-black cavern far underground. No crew, no exit in sight, and something is hunting her in the dark. This chapter is a major tonal shift from what came before. Combat takes a back seat entirely and the focus shifts to stealth, light, and evasion. It also has more collectibles than any other single chapter — 28 in total — so staying alert pays off. If you need to catch up on where the story stands, our Chapter 2 Felons walkthrough covers the events that set everything in motion with Faro’s betrayal.

Understanding the Creature – How It Works

Before diving into the walkthrough, you need to understand the creature that stalks you through this entire chapter. Getting this right makes everything much easier.

The creature tracks Sophia using a blue trail. This trail has two sources. First, it sticks to Sophia’s body at all times — so when the creature inhales and you see dust particles flying into its mouth, it can detect you even if you’re standing still in the open. Second, you create more trail by moving fast. Sprinting leaves a heavy blue trail behind you that the creature can follow.

There are two ways to stay safe. Stand in lit areas — the creature cannot approach any active light source, whether that’s a brazier, a torch, or any other flame. Walk or crouch slowly when in the dark — this prevents you from leaving a new trail, and as long as the creature isn’t actively inhaling, it won’t detect you. When you see the dust particles swirling into its mouth, get behind rubble or into cover immediately. Do not move until it stops.

You cannot damage or kill the creature. This is a pure evasion chapter. Understanding this early stops a lot of frustration. For more on how the creature connects to the wider lore of the island, the guide on what’s chasing Sophia on Minotaur’s Island goes into the detail.

Sub-Chapter 1 – Lost (Waking Underground)

Following Olivio

Following Olivio
Following Olivio

Sophia wakes up in a dark cavern. Olivio, who fell in alongside her, is panicking about something he calls a beast. Before Sophia can get a word in, he runs off, leaving a blue trail behind him. When you gain control, follow that blue trail forward. The path is linear at this stage — just keep moving through the cavern passages.

You’ll hear loud sounds echoing from somewhere deeper underground. Sophia dismisses them. Keep going until you catch up with Olivio near a giant statue. Drop down to trigger a cutscene — and get your first look at the creature as it pursues Olivio into the dark.

Resonance Point 1 – Sub-Chapter 1

From the start of the chapter, follow the path forward until you crouch through a tube or tunnel. Keep going until you jump over a gap. Shortly after landing, check to the right in the lit area. The first Resonance Point of the chapter is glowing there. Don’t miss it — it’s easy to run straight past in the dark.

Reaching the Pressure Plate

After the cutscene, head through the door that Olivio ran into. At the end of the passage, you’ll find Olivio petrified in the cracks of the wall — there’s nothing you can do for him. Squeeze through the opening into the next large cavern. Move forward until Sophia steps onto a pressure plate. This lights up a row of lamps above the stairs ahead.

A cutscene plays showing the creature drawn to the blue trail on Sophia’s body — but as it lunges, the nearby lamp light stops it dead. Light is your protection. The creature retreats. This confirms the core rule: stay near fire and flames.

Sub-Chapter 2 – The Creature (First Evasion Sequence)

Running Light to Light

With the creature now actively hunting you, the chapter shifts into its first proper evasion section. The creature will emerge from pipes and charge toward you. Run to the next lit brazier area as fast as you can. Once you’re in the light, stop and wait. The creature cannot reach you there. When it retreats, run again to the next lit area. Repeat this across the cavern until you reach the stairs. The braziers on the staircase keep you safe as you climb.

Slow Movement Section – Top of the Stairs

At the top of the stairs, the lit areas run out before you reach the exit. This is where slow movement becomes critical. Do not sprint. Walk normally or crouch through this section. When the creature appears and starts inhaling — you’ll see dust particles pulling toward it — immediately get behind a piece of rubble and stay still until it stops. There is plenty of cover in the area. Use every piece of it. Once it moves on, continue slowly toward the exit. Once you reach the stairs at the far end, you’re safe.

Resonance Points 2, 3, and 4 – Sub-Chapter 2

This sub-chapter has three Resonance Points and they all require you to look carefully while managing the creature. Here’s where each one is.

  • Point 2: After your first run from the monster, go upstairs and move through the long dark section with broken tube parts on the ground. When you reach the next lit area, do not go up the left stairs immediately. Instead, check the right path. The Resonance Point is there.
  • Point 3: From Point 2, go up the left stairs now and use the Grapnel to swing across the gap. Go forward, then climb up the rocks on the left to the top — before climbing the right side to the hanging tubes. The point is at the top of the left rocks.
  • Point 4: After you crouch through a tunnel where the creature ambushes you, you’ll enter a long corridor with a light at the far end. Check beside the first rock on the left inside the corridor. The point is near that rock in the lit section.

After the grapnel swing, climb up rocks, and continue through the pipe system. Inside the pipe, the creature will charge from the opposite end partway through — move quickly to the lit section inside the pipe and wait for it to pass. Once it retreats, keep moving through to the chamber at the other end. There’s a long dark passage with a door at the far end. Walk slowly or crouch the whole way — do not run until you’re close enough to sprint to the door. Squeeze through a gap and jump to the lit door to escape the creature for now.

Grapnel Swing Across the Chasm

After reaching the door, you find you don’t have the right tool to open it yet. Look up for a Grapnel point. Swing across, then continue jumping across platforms. As Sophia swings, she slips and falls into the chasm below. The light at the bottom saves her from the creature and deposits her into the next sub-chapter.

Sub-Chapter 3 – False Hope (Waterwheel Section)

Path to the Artefact

After the fall cutscene, follow the path past the broken waterwheel ahead. Jump across gaps and leap across rocks until you find a Grapnel point on the other side. Climb up, then jump across to the opposite section and continue forward. Check the path carefully as you go — there are several Resonance Points tucked into this sub-chapter.

Resonance Points 5 Through 9 – Sub-Chapter 3

  • Point 5: After the slide down and short cutscene that opens this sub-chapter, go forward along the main path. You’ll find it in the middle of the path under a broken water wheel.
  • Artefact 1 – Relic of the Past: Minoan Queen: From Point 5, jump the gap, walk under the broken wheel, go straight, and climb the right ledge into the cave on the right. The Minoan Queen artefact is inside that cave. Pick it up before using the Grapnel to climb up — once you climb, you move past it.
  • Points 6 and 7 (x2): Now use the Grapnel to climb up from the cave. Immediately turn right and drop down the ledge — before jumping the next gap. Two Resonance Points are right there.
  • Point 8: In the next section where the creature chases you again, make it to the second light source and look over the edge of the cliff below you. A Resonance Point glimmers in the dark below. It’s very easy to sprint past during the chase — slow down long enough to grab it.
  • Point 9: In the same chase section, move to the next open area and look to the far right edge. There’s a broken tube there. The point is inside it. This one is risky — you’re still in the middle of the chase — but it’s worth grabbing if you can do it quickly.

Second Major Creature Chase – Waterwheel Run

Continue forward hugging the right wall into the large chamber with waterwheels. As Sophia swings across a mast using her Grapnel, the mast breaks and she lands on a spinning wheel in the water. The creature immediately starts chasing. Sprint away — there is no time to look for cover here. Jump across the spinning wheels as fast as possible. Jumping breaks your blue trail and slows the creature’s tracking. As you slide under a gap at the end, the rocks shift and seal the path behind you. You’re safe.

Sub-Chapter 4 – Minoan Machinery (Light and Lens Puzzle)

Resonance Points 10 Through 13 – Sub-Chapter 4

  • Point 10: After escaping the creature and squeezing through a gap into this sub-chapter, immediately turn left. A Resonance Point is behind the first rock you see.
  • Point 11: Just a few metres further along, at the next light you reach. It’s in the open — hard to miss.
  • Point 12: After another escape from the creature, you come to a room with lanterns on the sides. The point is on the left as you enter.
  • Charm 1 – Seal #3: In that same lantern room, walk to the end of the hallway. You’ll see a mirror on the left side — you can use it shortly — and some wooden boxes on the right. Destroy the boxes on the right by attacking them. The Seal #3 Charm is behind them.
  • Points 13 and 14 (x2): After using the mirror in this room to clear the corruption and reveal the path, enter the revealed path and immediately turn right before squeezing through the lit gap. Two Resonance Points are right there.

The Lens Puzzle – Clearing the Corruption

In the chamber at the end of this sub-chapter, corruption blocks the only passage forward. At the far end of the hall there’s a wooden box with a white mark on it — attack the box to break it open and find the lens inside. Pick it up. Now aim the lens at the corruption-blocked passage. The beam of light clears the corruption and opens the route forward. Head through, then through the door at the end to enter a massive open area with the labyrinth visible in the distance.

Sub-Chapter 5 – The Architect (Daedalus’s Key and the Sica Blade)

Unlocking Daedalus’s Key

Run straight ahead across the platform toward the petrified body at the edge. This triggers a cutscene and Sophia unlocks Daedalus’s Key — a new tool that can open ancient Minoan doors throughout the rest of the game. It’s one of the most important unlocks in the entire playthrough. Look around the platform after the cutscene. You’ll spot a door lit up between two braziers — follow the path on the right to reach it and use Daedalus’s Key to open it.

Collectibles in Sub-Chapter 5

  • Artefact 2 – Relics of the Past: Corrupted Mosaic: After the cutscene where you unlock Daedalus’s Key, face the staircase you came from and go left of the staircase on the dark path. You’ll see the artefact glimmering in a doorway ahead.
  • Charm 2 – Bead #3: In the same area, backtrack to just after the cutscene and go right of the staircase this time. There’s a chest on the dark path with the Bead #3 charm inside.
  • Charm 3 – Pierced Coin #2: From the Bead #3 charm location, drop down the cliff. Do not go through the door on the right yet. Go straight instead and enter the door at the end of that passage. Interact with the Axe Chalice inside to get the Pierced Coin #2 charm.
  • Points 15 and 16 (x2): From the Axe Chalice room, turn right and open the door next to the charm. Two Resonance Points are on the floor inside.
  • Point 17: Now backtrack to the door you passed earlier (before the Axe Chalice room). Go through it this time. You’ll find a Resonance Point on the path before a tunnel on the left.
  • Point 18: Take the tunnel to the left, jump over the left gap, and drop down the ledge. The point is right there at the bottom.

Optional Puzzle – Blade 3: Sica

After following Daedalus’s Shortcut and going through a gate with the key, take the tunnel on the left in the next corridor. This is an optional branching path that leads to a light alignment puzzle and Blade 3.

In the puzzle room you’ll see a bull pillar and several pillars with lights on them. Here’s how to solve it step by step.

  • Jump onto the first lit platform on the left.
  • Use the sphere (hold the right shoulder button, then switch to the beam function with the D-pad).
  • Align the three coloured beams like this: Green beam points below the bull pillar. Blue beam points below the pillar you’re standing on. Red beam points toward the rear-right pillar — the light will bounce off it into a mirror.

When all three beams are correctly aligned, the axe symbol on the floor opens to reveal a staircase into a crypt. Go down and open the large chest inside to collect Blade 3: Sica.

  • Point 19: To the left of the chest immediately after collecting the Sica blade.
  • Points 20 and 21 (x2): When the creature chases you again in this section, drop down the pipes into a dark area where you need to go uphill. Climb up the left side to the top. Two Resonance Points are waiting there. Be fast — the creature is active.
  • Point 22: From those two points, use the Grapnel to swing to the right side, go uphill, squeeze through the gap, and check left immediately after the gap. The final point is there. You need to move quickly while the creature is still in the area.

Final Escape – End of Chapter 6

After collecting everything in The Architect section, the final escape sequence begins. Use Daedalus’s Key to unlock the second door. Go through into a pipe area where the exit is visible at the far end — but the creature is between you and it. Go left and follow the path slowly. When you have to cross to the other side via the pipes, the creature will start chasing. Run hard to the other side and use the broken pipes to reach the nearest lit brazier. Catch your breath, then move slowly forward using rocks and broken pipe debris as cover. When you reach the last piece of cover, there’s nothing left between you and the exit. Run for the crack in the wall and squeeze through. Keep running until the zone ends. Chapter 6 is complete.

Chapter 6 Collectibles – Full Summary

Chapter 6 has the most collectibles of any chapter in the game. Here’s everything in one place.

  • Blade 3 – Sica: Optional bull pillar light puzzle in Sub-Chapter 5. Align green/blue/red beams correctly to open the crypt.
  • Artefact 1 – Minoan Queen: Sub-Chapter 3. In the cave on the right after jumping the gap and walking under the broken wheel. Grab it before using the Grapnel to climb up.
  • Artefact 2 – Corrupted Mosaic: Sub-Chapter 5. Left of the staircase after the Daedalus’s Key cutscene, glimmering in a doorway.
  • Charm 1 – Seal #3: Sub-Chapter 4. In the lantern room, break the wooden boxes on the right at the far end of the hallway.
  • Charm 2 – Bead #3: Sub-Chapter 5. Right of the staircase after the Daedalus cutscene, in a chest on the dark path.
  • Charm 3 – Pierced Coin #2: Sub-Chapter 5. Drop off the cliff, go straight (not right), through the end door, and interact with the Axe Chalice.
  • 22 Resonance Points: Spread across all five sub-chapters. See individual sub-chapter sections above for exact locations. These do not carry over — grab them all in one run.

Tips for Getting Through Chapter 6

  • Never sprint in the dark unless the creature is already chasing you. Walk or crouch to avoid leaving a blue trail. Save sprinting for when you have no other option.
  • Always head for the nearest light source first. Every lit brazier is a safe haven. Use them as checkpoints to plan your next movement rather than rushing between cover points.
  • When you see dust particles flying toward the creature’s mouth — freeze. Get behind something and wait it out. Moving at that moment will give your position away immediately.
  • Grab the Minoan Queen artefact before using the Grapnel in Sub-Chapter 3. It’s inside a cave on the right just before the climb. If you climb first, you can’t go back easily.
  • The Sica puzzle is optional but worth doing. It’s the only way to get Blade 3. If you’re going for 100% completion, take the left tunnel after using Daedalus’s Key and solve the light alignment before continuing.
  • During active creature chases, prioritise escape over collectibles. You can replay via chapter select for any missed items except Resonance Points — no need to die trying to grab everything during a sprint.

After escaping the underground caverns, Sophia surfaces and reunites with Leni. Chapter 7, Death It Sowed, brings the action back above ground — but the creature and the Minoan darkness are far from done with Sophia. The dual timeline mechanic also gets more prominent from here. Frequently Asked Questions

How do you survive the creature in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy Chapter 6?

The creature in Chapter 6 tracks Sophia through a blue energy trail. It cannot be fought or killed — only evaded. Two things keep you safe. First, standing in lit areas such as near braziers or torches makes the creature retreat entirely and prevents it from approaching. Second, moving slowly by walking or crouching when in the dark stops you from generating more blue trail. When you see dust particles flying toward the creature’s mouth, it is actively sensing your position — get behind rubble immediately and stay still until it stops. The combination of light, slow movement, and cover is everything in this chapter.

How many collectibles are in Chapter 6 of Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?

Chapter 6 What Lies Beneath contains 28 collectibles — the most of any chapter in the game. That breaks down into 1 Blade (Sica, from the optional bull pillar puzzle), 2 Artefacts (Minoan Queen in Sub-Chapter 3, Corrupted Mosaic in Sub-Chapter 5), 3 Charms (Seal #3, Bead #3, Pierced Coin #2), and 22 Resonance Points spread across all five sub-chapters. The Resonance Points are the only items that do not carry over if you replay via chapter select — everything else can be collected later.

How do you solve the bull pillar light puzzle in Chapter 6?

The bull pillar puzzle is an optional challenge in Sub-Chapter 5 reached by taking the left tunnel after using Daedalus’s Key. Jump onto the first lit platform on the left side of the room, then use the sphere by holding the right shoulder button and switching to beams with the D-pad. You need to align three coloured beams: green pointing below the bull pillar, blue pointing below the platform you’re standing on, and red pointing toward the rear-right pillar so the light reflects into the mirror behind it. When all three are correctly aligned, the axe symbol on the floor opens and reveals a staircase into a crypt. Go down and open the chest to collect the Sica blade.

What is Daedalus’s Key and what does it do?

Daedalus’s Key is a new tool Sophia unlocks at the end of Sub-Chapter 4 in Chapter 6, triggered by a cutscene near the petrified body at the platform edge above the labyrinth. It works like a master key for ancient Minoan doors found throughout the island. You use it to unlock sealed passages that were inaccessible before, including the doors inside Daedalus’s Shortcut at the end of Chapter 6 and many more in the chapters that follow. It’s one of the most important tool unlocks in the game, on par with the Grapnel from Chapter 2.
