Where to Find Conduit Crystal in Subnautica 2 and How to Get It
TL;DR
- Conduit Crystal is found past the Alien Ruins, in the deep eastern region of the map around alien structures.
- The primary spawn area is on cliffs below the Karakorum Power Plant, overlooking the Angel Comb, at depths of 300–400 meters.
- You need the Sonic Resonator to break the crystal nodes — they cannot be picked up by hand.
- Equip the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1 before heading out, as the depth exceeds the base Tadpole limit.
- Crystals rarely spawn in groups and usually give only 1 unit per node — search slowly and thoroughly.
- Used for the Bioscanner, Feedback Resonator, Advanced Battery, Improved Fins, and Entangled Power Cell.
- Collect at least 5–6 crystals in one trip to cover multiple crafting recipes.
Conduit Crystal is one of the most frustrating resources to find in Subnautica 2. It does not cluster nicely in one spot, it hides behind rocks and on walls, and the game gives you almost zero hints about where to look. But once you know the zone and what to search for, the trips become much more manageable.
This guide covers every confirmed spawn location, exactly how to get there, what to bring, and how to use Conduit Crystal once you have it.

What Is Conduit Crystal in Subnautica 2?
Conduit Crystal is a rare raw material that unlocks several major late-game upgrades in Subnautica 2. According to the game’s databank, it is essentially a naturally occurring wire — Kagome optical fibers derived from shock quartz. In practical terms, it is the ingredient that gates your access to the Bioscanner, Feedback Resonator, and advanced power items.
Unlike early resources such as Titanium, Copper, or Silver, Conduit Crystal does not appear in shallow water or near your Lifepod. It belongs to the second major zone of the game, far out in the darker, deeper eastern waters.

Where to Find Conduit Crystal in Subnautica 2
Conduit Crystal does not have one single tight spawn point. It spreads across a wide zone in the deep eastern region, but there are confirmed hotspots that give you the best chance of finding multiple crystals in one run.

Primary Location: Below the Karakorum Power Plant
The best place to find Conduit Crystal is on the cliffs directly below the Karakorum Power Plant, overlooking the Angel Comb. This is in the Karakorum region, east of the Alien Ruins Research Base, at depths between 300 and 400 meters.
Head east-southeast from the Alien Ruins Research Base at a compass bearing of around 120 degrees. Descend as you go and look for the large purple tube structure — follow it down toward the Angel Comb under the Power Plant. The crystal nodes grow on the cliff faces and rock surfaces in this area.
Tip from the official wiki: occasionally a Conduit Crystal node will be struck by lightning arcs from the collapsed tesla coils in the region. If you see sparks hitting a surface, that is a reliable way to spot a crystal node faster.

Secondary Location: Northeast of the Angel Comb
If you head northeast from the Angel Comb and follow the purple tube down the ravine, you can find two more Conduit Crystals to your right just before you reach the green-glowing pools. This is also the area where you can scan the Feedback Resonator blueprint, so it is worth making this part of the same trip.
Additional Locations
A few more scattered Conduit Crystal nodes have been confirmed in other spots:
- On the seafloor northeast of the Tadpole Pens
- Southwest of the Yellow Chemical Waste area in the far reaches of the map
- On ledges and walls near other alien structures and habitations throughout the deep eastern zone
These secondary locations have fewer crystals, but if you are already in the area exploring, keep an eye on surfaces as you pass.

What Conduit Crystal Looks Like
Conduit Crystal nodes look almost like a piece of coral dipped in molten metal, sticking up from a surface. They are small and easy to miss, especially in darker water. They can appear on:
- Rock walls and cliff faces
- The ocean floor
- Surfaces between and behind alien structures
- Ledges at varying heights
Because they often spawn on only one visible side of a rock face, change your angle frequently as you swim. A crystal hidden from one direction may be clearly visible from another. Do not just sweep the open floor — check walls, pillars, and the backs of alien formations too.
How to Get to Conduit Crystal: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Unlock the Tadpole and Depth Module Mk. 1
Conduit Crystal spawns between 300 and 400 meters deep. The base Tadpole only dives to around 250 meters, so you need the Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 1 installed before heading out. Even with it equipped, you may need to exit the Tadpole and swim the final distance yourself.
Get this sorted before anything else. See our guide on how to go deeper with the Tadpole Depth Module in Subnautica 2.
Step 2: Bring the Sonic Resonator
Conduit Crystal nodes cannot be picked up by hand. You must use the Sonic Resonator to break them apart and collect the loose crystal. Once you break a node, each one typically gives you 1 unit, sometimes a few more. Do not make the trip without it.
Step 3: Travel East from the Alien Ruins
From the Alien Ruins Research Base, head east and descend. Set your compass to roughly 120 degrees and look for the big purple tube structure that leads down toward the Angel Comb under the Alien Power Plant. The Conduit Crystal zone begins in this deeper region around the alien architecture.
The total travel distance from the Lifepod is roughly 1,700 meters, so go well stocked with oxygen and food. Learn how to increase your oxygen in Subnautica 2 before making this journey.
Step 4: Park the Tadpole and Search on Foot
Once you reach the deeper alien structure zone, park your Tadpole somewhere safe. The terrain narrows and hostile creatures are more active close to the crystal locations. Leaving the vehicle parked protects it from damage while you search.
Exit on foot and begin sweeping the cliff faces, walls, rock pillars, and alien structures. Conduit Crystals do not all cluster in one tight spot — you will often find one, then have to search further to find the next.
Step 5: Scan for More After Finding the First
After you grab the first crystal, keep searching the surrounding surfaces. Multiple Conduit Crystals often spawn close together even when only one is immediately visible. Do not grab the first one and head straight back — a slow, thorough sweep of the area will give you far more in a single trip.
If you have a Scanner Station set up in Subnautica 2, use it to help track resource signals in the area.
How Many Conduit Crystals Do You Need?
Here is a breakdown of every current crafting recipe that uses Conduit Crystal:
- Bioscanner — 3 Conduit Crystals (crafted at Modification Station)
- Feedback Resonator — 2 Conduit Crystals (crafted at Modification Station)
- Improved Fins — 2 Conduit Crystals (crafted at Fabricator)
- Advanced Battery — 1 Conduit Crystal (crafted at Fabricator)
- Entangled Power Cell — 1 Conduit Crystal (crafted at Fabricator)
- Axum Interface Chip ONL — requires Conduit Crystal
If you want to craft the Bioscanner and Feedback Resonator in the same run, you need at least 5 Conduit Crystals. Aim for 6 or more to have a buffer for other recipes. Given how rare they are and how slow they yield per node, collecting enough in one trip is much better than returning multiple times.
What Is Conduit Crystal Used For?
Bioscanner
The Bioscanner is an upgrade to your standard Alterran Scanner. It lets you scan alien technology and unlock new blueprints — including Biomods. This is a major progression step in Subnautica 2 and one of the first things most players need Conduit Crystal for. You will likely find the broken Bioscanner blueprint out in the eastern zone before you have collected enough crystals, which is why planning ahead matters.
Get more details in our guide on how to get the Bioscanner in Subnautica 2.
Feedback Resonator
The Feedback Resonator upgrades your Sonic Resonator so it can damage shielded enemies, including Bloom Cankers. Without it, those encounters become very frustrating because your standard equipment barely makes a dent. If you have been firing at enemies and watching the shots bounce off, the Feedback Resonator is exactly what you need.
You can also scan the Feedback Resonator blueprint in the same area where you find Conduit Crystals, northeast of the Angel Comb near the green-glowing pools.
Improved Fins
Improved Fins let you swim faster, which becomes very useful once you are covering long distances in the eastern zones. If speed is a priority, make sure you budget 2 Conduit Crystals for this recipe. See also our guide on how to get Improved Fins in Subnautica 2 and how to swim faster in Subnautica 2.
Advanced Battery and Entangled Power Cell
Both of these are upgraded power sources that last longer than standard versions. They connect to the deeper electrical crafting chain and become important as your tools and base demand more energy. Learn more about how to recharge tools and batteries in Subnautica 2 while you are at it.
Tips for Farming Conduit Crystal Efficiently
- Search slowly. Crystals hide behind rocks and on walls. Rushing through the area means missing half of them.
- Change your angle constantly. A node invisible from one side may be clearly visible from another direction.
- Park your Tadpole safely. The area near the crystals has tighter terrain and more aggressive creatures. Do not risk losing your vehicle.
- Set a beacon at confirmed spawn spots. Once you find a crystal cluster, drop a beacon so you can return to the same productive spot next time without re-searching from scratch.
- Consider a small outpost base nearby. If you need many crystals across multiple recipes, building a mini-base near the alien structure cuts out the 1,700-meter return trip each run. Check our guide on how to unlock the Habitat Builder and start building a base in Subnautica 2.
- Bring food and water. The trip is long and the area is dangerous. Read about the best early food sources in Subnautica 2 to stay prepared.
- Refill oxygen at the Axum control station nearby if you are running low mid-run.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Going too early. Conduit Crystal is a late-progression resource. If you are still in the early zones, you are in the wrong area.
- Leaving without enough. Most players find the Bioscanner blueprint, go back home, then realise they need 3 crystals and have to return. Do the collection trip and the blueprint hunt on the same dive.
- Only checking the floor. Crystals grow on walls, cliff edges, and between alien structures. The floor is just one surface of many.
- Going without the Sonic Resonator. You cannot collect the crystal by hand. If you arrive without the tool, the whole trip is wasted.
Final Thoughts
Conduit Crystal in Subnautica 2 is one of the more annoying resources to farm because it demands patience and careful searching rather than just knowing one specific coordinate. But once you know to focus on the cliffs below the Karakorum Power Plant, follow the Angel Comb ravine northeast, and check every wall surface thoroughly — it becomes a much more manageable resource run.
Aim to bring back 5 to 6 crystals on your first dedicated trip. That gives you enough for the Bioscanner, the Feedback Resonator, and a buffer for the other recipes that will come up as you push further into the game.
