The most brutal obby on Roblox — no checkpoints, no mercy, no way out but up.
Tower of Hell (commonly abbreviated as ToH) is a round-based obstacle course game on Roblox created by uwuPyxl and ObrenTune of YXceptional Studios. Released on June 18, 2018, it has grown into one of the most played games on the entire Roblox platform with over 27 billion visits and consistently ranks as the #4 most visited game on Roblox of all time.
The premise is simple yet brutally unforgiving — climb to the top of a randomly generated tower made of multiple obstacle sections with absolutely no checkpoints. Fall at any point and you go back to the very beginning. The tower resets every round, meaning no two climbs are ever the same.
What separates Tower of Hell from every other Roblox obby is its zero-mercy design philosophy. There are no safety nets, no mid-way saves, no shortcuts through difficulty. Every inch of progress is earned through pure skill, patience and practice — making each successful climb genuinely satisfying in a way few games can match.
The game is often called “Tower of Heck” by younger players and family-friendly content creators who avoid the word “hell.” Despite the name, the game contains no mature content — the “hell” refers entirely to the infernal difficulty of its obstacle courses.
Every round in Tower of Hell follows the same structure — but the experience is never the same twice.
When a round begins, the game randomly selects and stacks a series of colored obstacle sections to build the tower. Normal Towers have 6 sections. Pro Towers have 12 sections. Players must climb from the bottom to the very top before the timer expires.
The mechanic that defines everything is no checkpoints. Unlike traditional obbies where you respawn at the last platform you touched, dying in Tower of Hell sends you all the way back to the ground floor. This one decision transforms a casual climb into an intense test of focus, memory and execution.
This is the defining feature of Tower of Hell. Every death means starting from scratch. Veteran players treat each attempt as a complete run — studying the layout, planning their route and staying mentally locked in for the entire climb without a single mistake.
The timer adds serious pressure. Normal Towers give you 6 minutes. Pro Towers give you 8 minutes. When a player successfully reaches the top, the timer doubles in speed — putting pressure on every remaining player to finish quickly before time runs out.
Coins are earned by completing towers and can be spent on Gears (power-ups like Gravity Coils and Speed Coils), Mutators (server-wide modifiers like Double Jump and Invincibility), and Effects (cosmetics). Players also earn XP and level up, unlocking skill points to permanently upgrade their gear in the Skill Tree.
Tower of Hell has three distinct ways to play — from a casual 6-minute climb to a multi-hour endurance test completed by only a handful of players worldwide.
| Mode | Sections | Time Limit | Difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Normal Tower | 6 | 6 minutes | Medium | Standard mode. Randomly generated each round. Best for beginners. |
| Pro Tower | 12 | 8 minutes | Hard | 2.5× more coins, 2× XP. Access via the Pro Tower door in the lobby. |
| THE Tower of Hell | 330 | No timer | Extreme | All sections in one run. Added Dec 13, 2024. Only a tiny number of players have ever completed it. |
Accessed through the “THE Tower” portal in the Start section. Contains all 330 vanilla sections in randomized order. Rewards the legendary Certified Beast badge and ultra-rare Red Halo. As of 2026 only a tiny number of players worldwide have ever earned this achievement.
Beyond the core climbing gameplay, Tower of Hell packs a surprisingly deep set of systems that keep players coming back for years.
Every tower is randomly assembled from a pool of 330 sections. No two rounds are ever the same, keeping the game fresh even after thousands of runs.
Purchase Gravity Coil, Speed Coil, Jump Coil, Fusion Coil, Hook and Hourglass from the shop using coins. Each gear can be upgraded via the Skill Tree for extra bonuses.
Server-wide modifiers affecting every player simultaneously. Double Jump, Invincibility, Low Gravity and more. Last one round only and must be repurchased each round.
Level up to earn skill points and permanently upgrade your gear. Reaching Level 80 and maxing the full Skill Tree rewards the exclusive Pink Halo cosmetic.
Collect trails, auras, crowns and legendary Halos. Most effects come from coin loot boxes but some require specific in-game achievements to unlock.
28 hidden secret sections can randomly appear in your tower. The ultra-rare Saboteur section has a 1-in-10,000 spawn rate and is one of the rarest achievements in the game.
7 collectible badges unlock the Purple Halo. Pink Halo needs Level 80. Teal Halo requires every coin box effect. The rarest of all — the Red Halo — comes from completing THE Tower of Hell.
VIP servers unlock powerful commands including /skip, /setLength (4–200 sections), /mod vanilla, /kick and more. Full control over your tower experience.

uwuPyxl and ObrenTune launch Tower of Hell on Roblox. Built on the no-checkpoint philosophy, the game quickly gains thousands of daily players and begins its rise to the top.
Just one month after launch, THE Tower of Hell is created as a companion game containing every section stacked into one legendary challenge. It becomes a mythical goal within the community.
The first major event drops 30 new sections at once, growing the game from 100 to 128 sections. The shop receives a full overhaul and the first cosmetic effects are introduced to the game.
Evanbear1’s 10-track original soundtrack replaces the old Kevin MacLeod music. The new calming, melodic score becomes iconic and is released on Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.
Tower of Hell crosses 10 billion total visits — placing it among the most-played games in Roblox history. YXceptional Studios reaches 2 million group members the same month.
Tower of Hell wins a prestigious Bloxy Award at the 7th Annual Bloxy Awards, cementing its status as one of the defining games of the Roblox platform. Also nominated for Mobile Game of the Year.

Tower of Hell was built by YXceptional Studios — a Roblox developer group founded by uwuPyxl and ObrenTune.
Lead developer and owner of YXceptional Studios. Handles all programming, game design, UI systems and graphics. Former scripter for Juke’s Towers of Hell. His no-checkpoint vision became the foundation of the entire game.
Co-creator and original builder. Invented the tower obby format with Kiddie’s Towers of Hell in March 2018 before joining uwuPyxl. His 17 original sections are preserved as the classic version of the game.
Beyond the two founders, the game employs a roster of community builders who design new sections, admins who moderate servers, and artists like LeetLego who handle graphics. Evanbear1 composed the complete original soundtrack. The credits also recognize contributors who have shaped the experience across seven years of development.
The game’s mascot is called Pyx, named after uwuPyxl. The April Fools 2022 “Fluffy” mutator turned every player into a random version of the Pyx avatar — one of the most memorable and beloved events in Tower of Hell history.
Tower of Hell’s soundtrack is one of the most recognized pieces of Roblox music ever created — available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer.
Composed entirely by Evanbear1, the 10-track original soundtrack was added on September 1, 2020 replacing the old Kevin MacLeod music. Evanbear1 deliberately made the music calm and melodic to create an intentional contrast with the stress of the obstacles — heightening tension through musical irony. The current song name always displays in the bottom-right corner and players can toggle music on or off at any time.
