WARDOGS PKM Weapon Guide – Stats, Attachments, and Best Loadout

    By Krushna Vasudeva · September 13, 2026 · 12 min read
    PKM
    • The PKM is a 7.62x54mmR light machine gun that costs $4,500 and unlocks at Support Level 30.
    • It deals 55 damage per shot — the highest base damage of any LMG in WARDOGS and tied with the SVD.
    • Suppression is rated at 0.9 per shot, making it the best suppression weapon in the infantry roster.
    • Effective range is 1000 m, with full damage maintained all the way out to that distance.
    • It weighs 7.5 kg — the heaviest non-vehicle weapon in the game. Loadout planning is essential.
    • Default magazine is the PKM 100 RND Box, giving you a massive 100-round capacity per feed.
    • Earns Support XP and sits in S-Tier across most WARDOGS weapon rankings.

The WARDOGS PKM weapon guide covers everything you need to know about the best LMG in the game. The PKM is not a weapon you pick up early. It costs $4,500, requires Support Level 30 to unlock, and weighs 7.5 kg — before you add a single piece of gear to your loadout. But what you get in return is the highest damage-per-shot of any LMG, 100 rounds per box, and a suppression rating that no other infantry weapon comes close to matching. For a full look at how the PKM fits into the weapon tier list, see the best weapons in WARDOGS guide. And if you are new to the game and wondering where to start before committing to a weapon this heavy, the WARDOGS beginners guide will walk you through the basics first.

Below is every confirmed stat, all compatible attachments, ammo types, and the best PKM loadout for the current build.

    WARDOGS PKM Stats

Here are the full base stats for the PKM in WARDOGS:

    • Caliber: 7.62x54mmR
    • Price: $4,500
    • Weight: 7.5 kg
    • Unlock: Support Level 30 (one-time unlock cost: 150,000)
    • Muzzle Velocity: 825 m/s
    • Effective Range: 1000 m
    • Zeroing Range: 100–1500 m
    • ADS Time: 0.73 s
    • ADS Zoom: 1.2×
    • Accuracy: 2.5
    • Melee Damage: 40
    • Length: 80 cm
    • Inventory Size: 6×2
    • Fire Modes: Semi-Auto / Full-Auto
    • Role XP: Support

The PKM’s accuracy stat of 2.5 is higher than most rifles, which reflects its spread characteristic rather than precision — LMGs are designed to saturate an area, not drill single shots. The 0.73 s ADS time is notably slower than assault rifles like the M4 (0.49 s), so snapping to ADS in a close-quarters ambush is not where the PKM wants to be.

    PKM

    WARDOGS PKM Damage and Falloff

The PKM deals 55 base damage per shot. That is the same damage as the SVD marksman rifle — except the PKM fires full-auto with a 100-round box. Damage stays at full strength from 0 metres all the way out to 1000 metres. After that, the falloff begins and reaches a 0.2 multiplier at 1500 metres.

    • 0–1000 m: 1.0× multiplier (55 damage per shot)
    • 1500 m: 0.2× multiplier (~11 damage per shot)

The suppression value is 0.9 per round — by far the highest of any infantry weapon in the game. Most assault rifles sit at 0.1–0.2. The PKM at 0.9 means sustained fire creates real battlefield pressure. Enemies caught in PKM fire have their accuracy disrupted, making it one of the most effective tools for holding zones and covering movement in WARDOGS.

    WARDOGS PKM Handling

The PKM is 7.5 kg. That is the heaviest infantry weapon in the game. There is no way around this — running a PKM means accepting that your total loadout weight will be in the heavy category unless you strip everything else to the bare minimum. Your movement speed, sprinting, and weight class are all directly affected.

Here is a summary of the handling values:

    • Vertical Recoil Multiplier: 1.0
    • Horizontal Recoil Multiplier: 1.0
    • Spread Multiplier: 1.0
    • Accuracy Multiplier: 1.0
    • Equip Speed: 0.95
    • Holster Speed: 1.0
    • Recoil Pitch: 45°
    • Recoil Yaw: -22.5° to 22.5°
    • Random Deviation: 20°

The random deviation of 20° is notably higher than the M4’s 10°, reflecting the LMG’s spray pattern. Full-auto at range is about suppression, not surgical accuracy. The base recoil multipliers are 1.0, which means attachments have real room to improve the gun’s control — particularly foregrips and muzzle devices.

The PKM does not require rechamber between shots, meaning you can hold down full-auto without interruption across all 100 rounds in the default box. That is a significant advantage when holding a position or denying an area to enemy infantry.

    WARDOGS PKM Attachments

The PKM supports optics, the PKM 100 RND Box magazine, underbarrel foregrips, and muzzle devices. Given the weapon’s weight and deviation, both foregrips and muzzle attachments are worth taking seriously.

    PKM Optics

The PKM supports the same wide optic selection as the M4 and other WARDOGS rifles. Here are all compatible options:

    • 2.5x Combat Optic
    • 3x Tactical Prism Scope
    • 4x Combat Prism Scope with Reflex
    • CGM4 Scope
    • CQ-2x Prism Combat Scope
    • Compact T-2 Red Dot
    • Four Reticle Reflex
    • Holographic Sight
    • Kobra Reflex
    • MMGL Sight
    • OKP 7 Reflex
    • Spectr 4x
    • Spitfire 3X
    • Tricon 1.5x Compact Prism Scope
    • Vektor Frenix-X Micro Reflex Sight

The best optic choice depends on your role. For area suppression and holding positions at medium range, the 3x Tactical Prism Scope or 4x Combat Prism Scope with Reflex are strong picks. They give you enough zoom to identify targets clearly while keeping your field of view reasonable. If you are running the PKM in a more defensive, close-to-medium role, a holographic or red dot sight keeps things fast. The Spectr 4x is a solid choice if you want to reach further and maximize that 1000 m effective range advantage.

    PKM Magazine

The PKM comes fitted with the PKM 100 RND Box by default. This is the only confirmed magazine option for the PKM. 100 rounds per box is a significant advantage in WARDOGS — it means you can hold a firing position, suppress multiple enemies, and continue fire without needing to reload during active contact. Keep that in mind when planning your ammo supply. At $30 per box of 7.62x54mmR, re-arming this weapon is one of the costlier ongoing expenses in a full loadout.

    PKM Muzzle Attachments

The PKM can take a range of muzzle devices. Given the 20° random deviation and the weapon’s role as a suppression tool, recoil control is the priority. Here are the most relevant muzzle options for the PKM:

    • 3-Chamber Brake — reduces vertical recoil on sustained fire
    • Hexagon Brake — strong all-around recoil compensation
    • Tread Brake — muzzle rise control
    • Ghost LITE Muzzle Brake — compact recoil reduction
    • Slicktap Brake — recoil management with minimal profile
    • Dual Port Brake — compensates both horizontal and vertical movement
    • Birdcage Flash Hider — reduces flash signature, helps concealment
    • Eclipse Flash Hider — flash reduction for firing in low light or from cover
    • 3 Prong Flash Hider — standard flash control
    • Slotted Flash Hider — flash suppression with minimal weight trade-off
    • Hexagon 762 Suppressor — suppresses 7.62mm fire, reduces noise and signature
    • GOL Multi-Caliber Suppressor — multi-caliber compatible, works on 7.62mm variants

If you are using the PKM as a suppression and area-denial tool — which is its primary job — a muzzle brake is the smarter pick over a suppressor. The PKM is already slow to ADS and heavy to carry. You want every shot landing where it needs to, and the brake gives you the tightest sustained burst pattern. Suppressors make more sense if you are trying to hold a concealed firing position and do not want to reveal your location on the minimap.

    PKM Underbarrel Foregrips

The PKM supports the full range of underbarrel foregrips. For a heavy LMG with a 20° random deviation, this slot has more practical impact than on lighter rifles. Options include:

    • 45° Angled Foregrip
    • AFG Angled Foregrip
    • Angled Tactical Foregrip
    • CQR Tactical Front Rail Grip
    • Mini Angled Foregrip
    • RK6 Tactical Foregrip
    • RVG Vertical Foregrip
    • Rubberized Ergonomic Foregrip
    • Shift Foregrip
    • TDG Vertical Foregrip

Vertical foregrips like the RVG or TDG focus on recoil reduction during sustained fire — which is exactly what you want when dumping 100 rounds through an LMG. Angled grips help more with ADS speed, but the PKM’s 0.73 s ADS time is already slow enough that shaving fractions off it matters less than keeping your shots on target over a long burst.

    WARDOGS PKM Compatible Ammunition

The PKM fires 7.62x54mmR ammunition. All ammo types share the same base damage of 55, but the type changes how that damage interacts with different targets:

    • 7.62x54mm Standard (FMJ) — general purpose, works reliably against most targets and armour levels
    • 7.62x54mm Armor Piercing (AP) — better penetration against armoured players, bypasses more protection
    • 7.62x54mm Flesh Damage (HP) — higher effectiveness against unarmoured targets, less effective against armour
    • Tracer variants — same damage stats as standard counterparts, rounds are visible in flight

FMJ is the reliable default for most situations. Against experienced players consistently running Level 3 or Level 4 armour, AP rounds are worth the cost — the PKM already hits hard, and armour piercing pushes that damage through protection more efficiently. Hollow point rounds work well in scrims or budget rounds where enemies are skipping armour to save money, but since 7.62x54mmR costs $30 per box, you want your ammo choice to reflect what you are actually facing.

One logistics note: the PKM shares its 7.62x54mmR calibre with the SVD marksman rifle. If you or a teammate is also running an SVD, your ammo supply can be pooled. That is a real coordination advantage worth planning around. You can read more in the WARDOGS SVD weapon guide.

    WARDOGS PKM Unlock and Progression

The PKM requires Support Level 30 and a one-time unlock payment of 150,000 to add to your vendor tab. After unlocking, it costs $4,500 each time you field it. At $4,500, the PKM takes up 45% of a standard $10,000 loadout budget — leaving only $5,500 for armour, sidearm, equipment, ammo, and utilities.

Every life you carry the PKM, the XP goes to the Support track — regardless of what else you have equipped. That makes it one of the most efficient Support progression weapons once you are past Level 30. Getting there takes time, though. Check out the WARDOGS leveling guide for the fastest ways to push Support XP, and the how to make money fast in WARDOGS guide to build the cash reserve you need before committing to the 150,000 unlock cost.

Because the PKM costs 45% of your budget, dying repeatedly with it will hurt your economy. Do not unlock and field the PKM until your account can comfortably absorb losing a $4,500 weapon in a bad engagement without forcing you into a budget recovery spiral.

    Best WARDOGS PKM Loadout

The PKM is a heavy weapon. Everything else in your loadout needs to account for that 7.5 kg weight. The builds below are designed to balance survivability with the weight restrictions that come from carrying an LMG this size.

    Standard Support PKM Build

    • Weapon: PKM ($4,500)
    • Optic: 3x Tactical Prism Scope — medium-range identification and targeting
    • Magazine: PKM 100 RND Box (default)
    • Muzzle: Hexagon Brake — recoil control for sustained fire
    • Underbarrel: RVG Vertical Foregrip — reduces spread during full-auto bursts
    • Ammo: 7.62x54mm Standard (FMJ) — reliable across armour levels

    Suppression and Area Denial Build

    • Weapon: PKM ($4,500)
    • Optic: Spectr 4x — extends your engagement range toward the 1000 m effective ceiling
    • Magazine: PKM 100 RND Box (default)
    • Muzzle: 3-Chamber Brake — consistent recoil reduction over long bursts
    • Underbarrel: TDG Vertical Foregrip — stability during sustained suppression fire
    • Ammo: 7.62x54mm AP — higher penetration for armoured targets in open ground engagements

    Concealed Position Build

    • Weapon: PKM ($4,500)
    • Optic: 4x Combat Prism Scope with Reflex — dual-purpose for close and medium range
    • Magazine: PKM 100 RND Box (default)
    • Muzzle: Hexagon 762 Suppressor — removes minimap signature when firing
    • Underbarrel: RK6 Tactical Foregrip — recoil stability from a fixed firing position
    • Ammo: 7.62x54mm FMJ — standard rounds for general fire

Keep the weight in mind with all three builds. Adding Level 3 or Level 4 armour on top of a 7.5 kg weapon will push you into a slow movement class quickly. If you want to understand how your settings affect performance with heavy loadouts, see the WARDOGS best optimization settings guide.

    WARDOGS PKM vs M249 SAW

The PKM and M249 SAW are the only two LMGs in WARDOGS. Here is how they compare:

    • PKM: 55 damage, 7.5 kg, $4,500, 1000 m effective range, 0.9 suppression, 100-round box, Support Level 30 unlock
    • M249 SAW: Lower damage per shot, fires 5.56x45mm, cheaper to field and easier to unlock, lighter

The PKM wins on every damage and suppression metric. The M249 wins on cost and weight. If your account can sustain a $4,500 weapon and you have reached Support Level 30, the PKM is the better choice in almost every scenario. If you are grinding early Support levels or need to keep your loadout cost low for economic reasons, the M249 is the smarter interim option. For a wider look at where both weapons sit in the meta, check the A-Tier weapons guide and B-Tier weapons guide.

    WARDOGS PKM vs FAL

Both the PKM and the FAL deal high damage with large-calibre rounds, but they serve completely different roles. The FAL fires .308 Winchester at 650 RPM in an assault rifle frame — it is precise and fast, designed for two-shot eliminations at medium range. The PKM fires slower, weighs more, and is built to saturate an area rather than pick off individual targets. The FAL earns Assault XP. The PKM earns Support XP. If you are on the Support track and need to hold ground, the PKM is the right choice. If you are on the Assault track and want raw stopping power, that is the FAL’s job.

Is the WARDOGS PKM Worth Using?

Yes — but only in the right situation. The PKM is the most powerful LMG in the game and one of the hardest-hitting infantry weapons overall. The 55 damage per shot combined with 100 rounds per box and a 0.9 suppression rating makes it a battlefield-control weapon with almost no equal at its role.

The cost is real though. At $4,500 per life, the PKM is 45% of your budget before you add a single other item. You need to play smart, stay alive, and position well to get value out of it. Dying with a PKM in the first 60 seconds of a life is an expensive way to donate equipment to the enemy.

If you are grinding Support and want the best LMG on the track once you hit Level 30, the PKM is the clear target. Just make sure your economy can handle it. The specialist weapons guide and the WARDOGS vehicles guide are worth checking too — understanding what the PKM is designed to counter (infantry pushes, vehicle-supported advances) helps you position it correctly in a full Support loadout.

You can check the full game and its current state on the WARDOGS Steam page.
