- Klaw is a Cogni genus pet in Aion 2 — it gives HP, Critical Hit, and Might.
- It is one of the best early Cogni pets to farm because Klaw monsters spawn in Verteron from level 19.
- You need just 5 souls to unlock it, and 105 total to reach max level.
- The best early soul farm is Wandering Klaw at Destroyed Abyss Gate in Verteron.
- Higher-level players can farm Abyss Klaw Mutants in Sulfur Tree Island at a 100% soul drop rate.
- There are three Klaw family pets — Klaw, Klaw Scout, and Elite Klaw — all worth collecting.
- At max level, Klaw unlocks a Transform ability — you disguise as a Klaw creature.
Klaw is one of the most recommended Cogni pets in Aion 2 — and for good reason. You can start farming it very early, the monsters are easy to find, and the souls drop at a reliable rate. It is the kind of pet that fills your Cogni board without requiring you to go out of your way.
This guide covers the full picture: what Klaw gives you, where to find souls at every stage of the game, and how to push it all the way to max.
What Is the Klaw Cogni Pet in Aion 2?
Klaw is a Cogni genus pet. Like all Cogni pets, it focuses on HP, Critical Hit, and Might. Every Cogni pet at the same Pet Insight level gives the exact same stat bonus — so Klaw is not special because of unique stats. It is special because the monsters that drop its soul are low-level, aggressive, and pack into tight areas you will already be running through while leveling.
Klaw is available to both Elyos and Asmodians. It cannot be traded. You can start using it as soon as you unlock the pet system at around level 11.
Every pet is also your mount in Aion 2. When you equip Klaw, you ride it. There is no separate mount system. So collecting Klaw gives you a mount and passive stats at the same time.

Klaw Pet Stats at Every Insight Level
Here is exactly what the Klaw pet gives you at each Pet Insight level:
- Pet Insight Level 1 — Unlocks the pet as a mount. Owned Effect: HP +10. Grants 500 Genus Insight EXP. Needs 25 more souls to reach Level 2.
- Pet Insight Level 2 — Unlocks Mount Glide. Owned Effect: HP +20, Critical Hit +1. Grants 250 Genus Insight EXP. Needs 75 more souls to reach Level 3.
- Pet Insight Level 3 (Max) — Unlocks Transform. Owned Effect: HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1. Grants 250 Genus Insight EXP. This is the current level cap for Aion 2 Global.
At max level you can use Empathy Candy to transform your character into a Klaw. It is a cosmetic ability tied to the Transform unlock. Empathy Candy drops from pet collection milestones — every 50 pets you collect rewards 10 candies.
Total souls needed: 5 to unlock, 25 more to reach Level 2, 75 more to reach Level 3 — 105 souls in total to fully max it out.
How to Get the Klaw Pet in Aion 2
There are four ways to get Klaw. Farming open world monsters is the most efficient, but the other methods are all worth using as you progress.
Method 1 – Farm Klaw Souls from Open World Monsters
This is the main method and also the fastest. Killing Klaw-type monsters in the open world drops the Soul: Klaw (Bound) item. Once you collect 5 souls, the pet unlocks automatically.
Here are the confirmed farm spots by zone:
- Destroyed Abyss Gate, Verteron — Wandering Klaw monsters here are around level 19. This is the classic early-game Cogni farm spot recommended across the community. The density is good and you will likely pass through this area naturally during leveling.
- Sulfur Tree Island, Chaotic Lower Reshanta — Abyss Klaw Mutants spawn here at level 46 with a confirmed 100% soul drop rate per kill. There are 50 spawn points spread across Branding Island, River of Rotten Sap, and Sulfur Swamp. This is the best mid-to-late game farm if you want to max Klaw quickly.
As always, use the Source tab in your Pets menu to see every monster that drops Klaw souls, sorted by location and marked on the in-game map. You never have to guess where to go.
Method 2 – Reward Chests
Klaw can drop from several Reward Chest types:
- Mysterious Pet Chest (Bound)
- Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
- Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
- Market Popularity Rank 1 Celebration Pet Chest (Event)
These chests are not guaranteed but they are worth opening when you get them. Even a duplicate of a pet you already own converts into a soul, so nothing is wasted. For more on how to use these chests smart, check the Aion 2 pet selection chest guide.
Method 3 – Black Cloud Merchants
The Black Cloud Merchants shop has a rotating inventory that changes regularly. Klaw and other Cogni pets appear in it from time to time. Check it daily. When Klaw is available, buying it is faster than farming — and if you already own it, the purchase converts straight into a soul toward leveling it up.
Method 4 – Ascension Trials
Klaw can also drop from Ascension Trials. Multiple trials list it as a possible reward. You won’t always get it here, but running trials for your main progression means you might pick up Klaw souls along the way without any extra effort.
Not sure how Ascension Trials work? See the Aion 2 Ascension Gauge guide for a full breakdown.
How to Unlock the Pet System
If you are just starting out, the pet system does not open immediately. You need to complete the main story quest “All Geared Up” at around level 11. It is part of the Episode 2: Dreaming of Paradise chain in Verteron. Finishing it gives you your first pet and unlocks the Pets tab in the menu.
After that, you can start tracking, farming, and collecting Klaw souls right away. The Aion 2 beginner’s guide has a full walkthrough of the early game if you need help getting there.
The Klaw Family — Three Pets Worth Collecting
Klaw is not the only pet in the family. There are three Klaw-type Cogni pets in Aion 2, and farming all three in one session is very efficient since their monsters overlap in similar zones.
- Klaw — The base pet. Best early farm at Destroyed Abyss Gate (Verteron) and Sulfur Tree Island (Chaotic Lower Reshanta).
- Klaw Scout — A separate Cogni pet with the same stats and the same Insight unlock structure. Souls drop from open world monsters. Available from Reward Chests, Black Cloud Merchants, and Ascension Trials.
- Elite Klaw — Also a Cogni pet. Its soul farm is confirmed at Destroyed Abyss Gate in Verteron. Same chests and merchants as the others.
All three give the same Owned Effects per level. The reason to collect all three is simple: each one adds 1,000 Genus Insight EXP when fully maxed, and each one is another step toward Cogni board milestones that reward passive attack and critical stats permanently.
For a look at which Cogni pets give the most efficient stat returns across your collection, see Aion 2 best pets to farm for stats.
Where to Play Aion 2
You can access Aion 2 through the official website at aion2.online or download it on Steam.
Klaw and the Cogni Genus Insight Board
Collecting and leveling Klaw feeds into the Cogni Genus Insight board. This is a second progression system that stacks on top of individual pet Owned Effects. Every time you hit a Pet Insight milestone, you earn Genus Insight EXP that levels up your Cogni board and opens new bonus slots.
Here is the EXP each Klaw milestone gives you:
- Unlock (Level 1): +500 Genus Insight EXP
- Reach Level 2: +250 Genus Insight EXP
- Reach Level 3: +250 Genus Insight EXP
One fully maxed Klaw gives 1,000 Genus Insight EXP total. The same is true for Klaw Scout and Elite Klaw — fully maxing all three would give you 3,000 EXP toward your Cogni board just from the Klaw family alone.
The Cogni board uses blue Soul Crystals for analysis. You earn these automatically by killing Cogni-type monsters whose matching pet is already maxed. Each analysis rolls a bonus effect into an unlocked slot. You can lock good rolls and re-roll the rest. The board goes up to Level 10, unlocking one slot per level — that is 10 additional passive bonuses stacked on top of your individual pet stats.

Why Klaw Is One of the Best Early Cogni Pets
Not all Cogni pets are easy to farm. Some have no monster soul drop at all and can only come from chests or merchants. Klaw is not one of those. You can farm it reliably from level 19 onward, in a zone you are already spending time in.
Every Cogni pet you collect — including Klaw — gives the same Owned Effects per level. The difference is efficiency. Klaw gives you:
- A confirmed 100% soul drop rate from Abyss Klaw Mutants at higher levels
- An early farm option at level 19 Wandering Klaws in Verteron
- A full family of three pets (Klaw, Klaw Scout, Elite Klaw) you can farm in the same zones
- 1,000 Genus Insight EXP per pet when maxed — meaning three maxed Klaw pets alone push your Cogni board forward significantly
The community consistently lists Klaw alongside Krall Laborer and Decomposed Lupyllini as the top early Cogni farm targets. If you are building a damage-focused character and want to stack Critical Hit and Might through your Cogni board, Klaw is one of the first pets you should lock in.
Compare it with the Aion 2 Krall Warrior Cogni pet guide — both are easy early farms in Verteron and you can knock out souls for both in a single run.
Farming Tips for Klaw Souls
- Go to Destroyed Abyss Gate early. Wandering Klaw at level 19 makes this a natural farm stop during the Verteron questing phase. You will likely be there for quests anyway — just pick up souls while you are there.
- Switch to Sulfur Tree Island for fast farming. Abyss Klaw Mutants at level 46 drop at 100% per kill. With 50 spawn points across three sub-zones, you can chain kills fast if you are high enough level.
- Farm all three Klaw pets at once. Elite Klaw also drops at Destroyed Abyss Gate. One farming loop can knock out souls for multiple pets. That is the most time-efficient way to work through the Klaw family.
- Check the Source tab first. Always open your Pets menu, click Klaw, and look at the Source tab before farming. It marks every spawn point on the map and sorts monsters by drop rate and level.
- Unlock several pets before maxing any one. The first unlock gives 500 Genus EXP. It is more efficient to unlock 5 different Cogni pets than to pour 105 souls into one pet back to back. Spread out, then come back to max them later.
- Do not skip Pet Soul Chests. Pet Soul Chest: Cogni (Bound) gives you a random Cogni soul. Klaw is in the pool. Every chest you open is a free chance at extra souls without extra farming time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Klaw pet tradable in Aion 2?
No. Klaw and its soul are both Bound items. You cannot trade them on the market or transfer them to other players or characters.
Can both Elyos and Asmodians get Klaw?
Yes. Klaw is available to both factions. The farm locations may vary slightly by faction territory, but the pet itself is the same for everyone.
Do all Cogni pets give the same stats as Klaw?
Yes. All 41 Cogni pets give identical Owned Effects at the same Pet Insight level. At max level that is HP +30, Critical Hit +2, and Might +1. The point of collecting multiple Cogni pets is to stack these bonuses across your whole collection.
What is the fastest way to get 5 Klaw souls?
Farm Abyss Klaw Mutants in Sulfur Tree Island if you are high enough level — they drop at 100% per kill so five kills is all you need. For early-game players, head to Destroyed Abyss Gate in Verteron and farm Wandering Klaws.
Is it worth farming all three Klaw pets (Klaw, Klaw Scout, Elite Klaw)?
Absolutely. All three are easy to farm in the same general zones, they all feed the same Cogni Genus Insight board, and each one adds another set of stacked Owned Effects to your collection. Three maxed Klaw pets alone contribute 3,000 Genus Insight EXP to your Cogni board.
How many total Cogni pets are in Aion 2?
There are 41 Cogni pets in Aion 2 Global. The three Klaw family pets are among the most accessible early on.
What happens at Klaw max level?
At Pet Insight Level 3 you unlock the Transform ability. Equip Klaw and use Empathy Candy to temporarily change your character’s appearance into a Klaw creature. Empathy Candy is earned from pet collection milestones every 50 pets.
How does Klaw compare to Krall Warrior for Cogni farming?
Both are strong early Cogni farm options in Verteron. Klaw has the edge at mid-to-late game thanks to the Abyss Klaw Mutant at 100% drop rate with 50 spawn points in Sulfur Tree Island. If you are in Verteron early, farm both at the same time since the locations are close. See the Krall Warrior Cogni pet guide for comparison.
