TL;DR
- This is the second Ascension quest in Aion 2, part of Path of Ascension II.
- Recommended level: 22. It’s shared by both Elyos and Asmodian characters.
- Two conditions to unlock it: Ascension Gauge at 100% and reaching the Level 22 main quest Daeva in a Dream.
- There is no map marker — you access it through Journal (J) → Ascension tab → Teleport.
- Inside, you fight two enemy waves plus an elite boss, then activate the Dream Artifact.
- Rewards: Intermediate Daeva Wings, Stigma Shard x1, and Pantheon system unlock.
- Completing this quest also finishes the Episode quest Daeva in a Dream at the same time.
The One Who Hears the Voice is one of the most commonly Googled quests in Aion 2 — not because it’s particularly hard, but because it breaks every rule players expect from a standard quest. There’s no NPC standing in the world to talk to. There’s no yellow marker on the map. The red objective text never pins to any location. The game just says “go here” and leaves you to figure out that “here” is a menu.
Once you know how it actually works, it takes maybe ten minutes. This guide covers every step — from the two unlock conditions to the final cutscene.

What Is The One Who Hears the Voice?
The One Who Hears the Voice is the second Ascension quest in Aion 2, sitting under the Path of Ascension II chapter in your Journal. It’s the quest that takes your character to the Dream Crossroad, where Asahr tasks you with claiming a fragment of AION through combat.
Here’s where it fits in the full Ascension sequence:
| Quest Name | Ascension Path | Level |
|---|---|---|
| The One Who Perceives | Path of Ascension I | 5 |
| The One Who Hears the Voice | Path of Ascension II | 22 |
| The One Who Dreams | Path of Ascension III | 32 |
| The One Who Witnesses the Nightmare | Path of Ascension IV | 45 |
| The One Who Swears the Oath | Path of Ascension V | 49 |
The quest is identical for both Elyos and Asmodian characters. The story quests leading up to it differ by faction, but the Ascension trial itself — the arena, the enemies, the rewards — is the same for everyone.
It’s worth doing properly. The rewards from this quest — particularly the Stigma Shard and new Wings — are meaningful upgrades that contribute directly to your progression through the mid-game.
How to Unlock The One Who Hears the Voice
Two conditions must both be met before this quest appears in your Journal. If only one is satisfied, the quest entry shows the message: “Unlocked when Ascension Gauge reaches 100%” — which is the game signaling that the second condition isn’t met yet.

Condition 1 – Fill the Ascension Gauge to 100%
After completing your first Ascension quest, a progress bar called the Ascension Gauge appears beneath your minimap. It needs to reach 100% before the second Ascension quest unlocks.
Four types of content fill the gauge:
- Regional Quests — the fastest method. Each one adds roughly 5% to the gauge. Pick these up automatically as you pass NPCs in any region — they appear in your Journal as green quests. Lower-level Regional quests fill the gauge just as effectively as higher-level ones.
- Episode Quests — main story quests also contribute to the gauge as you complete them. If you’re following the story at a natural pace, Episode quests alone usually get you most of the way there.
- Sealed Dungeons — marked with a question mark (?) on the map. Clearing the enemies and boss inside rewards Ascension Gauge progress plus permanent bonuses. Don’t repeat them just for the gauge — each one counts once.
- Strongholds — the least efficient option. Complete them if you enjoy the content, but don’t prioritize them specifically for gauge filling.
In practice, if you follow the main story while picking up Regional quests naturally, you’ll hit 100% around the right time without having to grind. You might need to complete three or four extra Regional quests at most if you’ve been skipping side content. For a deeper breakdown, the Ascension Gauge guide has the full breakdown.
Condition 2 – Reach the Level 22 Story Quest “Daeva in a Dream”
You also need to have progressed the main Episode storyline to the Level 22 quest called Daeva in a Dream (sometimes referred to as “The Daeva Who Stayed in the Dream” in localization).
Elyos and Asmodian characters reach this quest through different chapter chains, but both factions arrive at it around the same point in the leveling curve. Keep following the yellow main quest markers and you’ll get there naturally.
Once both conditions are met, The One Who Hears the Voice appears in your Journal under the Ascension tab.

How to Start the Quest – Journal Teleport
This is the step that confuses the most players. There is no NPC to find in the open world. The Dream Crossroad is a separate dimension — you access it through the Journal, not by walking anywhere.
- Press J to open your Journal.
- Click the Ascension tab along the top row.
- Select The One Who Hears the Voice from the list.
- Click the Teleport icon in the lower-right corner of the quest entry.
Your character is transported directly to the Dream Crossroad, arriving beside a large mirror. Asahr is waiting there.
If the Teleport icon is greyed out or missing, one of the two unlock conditions hasn’t been met. Check your Ascension Gauge percentage and your current main quest progress before trying again.
Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1 – Talk to Asahr
As soon as you arrive at the Dream Crossroad, approach and talk to Asahr by the mirror. He explains the task: you need to claim a fragment of AION through combat. After the dialogue, a gate opens into the Dream Remnants arena.
Walk through the gate to begin the combat trial.
Step 2 – Clear the First Enemy Wave
Inside the Dream Remnants arena, your first objective is to defeat the initial group of enemies:
- Dream Guardian (Level 22)
- Dream Watcher (Level 22)
Clear every enemy in the first wave completely. The next wave won’t spawn until the area is clean. Stay mobile and don’t let enemies stack on you from multiple directions.
Step 3 – Clear the Second Enemy Wave
Once the first wave is down, the second group appears:
- Dream Guardian Knight
- Dream Knight
Same approach — clear them fully before the elite boss spawns. These enemies hit a little harder than the first wave but nothing that should cause problems at the recommended level of 22. If your rotation feels rough here, a quick review of your skill order and priority setup can help smooth things out before your next attempt.
Step 4 – Defeat the Elite Boss: Dream Guardian Eonos
After the two waves are cleared, the elite boss spawns:
- Dream Guardian Eonos (Level 23)
This is a solo encounter, and Eonos is a step above the regular enemies — slightly higher level and hits harder. Keep your health potions ready and don’t rush. Watch for attack patterns and keep moving to avoid standing in whatever AoE he telegraphs.
Once Eonos is down, a glowing blue orb appears on the ground.
Step 5 – Interact with the Dream of Willpower Fragment
Walk up to the glowing blue orb — the Dream of Willpower Fragment — and interact with it to resonate with the AION fragment. After the interaction, return to Asahr and speak with him.
Step 6 – Travel to the Dream of Torment
Asahr transports your character to a new area: the Dream of Torment. This is a ruined, arid landscape with broken stairs leading upward toward a large floating orb.
Walk up the stairs to the floating orb — the Dream Artifact — and interact with it.
Step 7 – Watch the Cutscene and Talk to Asahr
Activating the Dream Artifact triggers a cutscene. An afterimage of Empyrean Lord Siel appears and recounts the fall of AION and the Balaur invasion — a piece of the game’s core lore that directly ties into the world you’ve been adventuring through.
When the cutscene ends, speak to Asahr one final time to complete the trial. An “Ascension Complete” message appears. Confirm your exit from the Dream of Torment and you’re returned to the open world at the point you teleported from.
Completing this quest also closes out the Episode quest Daeva in a Dream at the same time — two birds, one stone.
Quest Rewards
Finishing The One Who Hears the Voice gives you some of the most valuable unlocks you’ll receive in the Level 22 window:
| Reward | Details |
|---|---|
| Intermediate Daeva Wings | Placed in your Cube — must be claimed to your inventory before equipping |
| Stigma Shard x1 | Used to unlock Stigma Skills for your class |
| Pantheon System | Unlocked as a new character progression system |
| Experience | Standard quest EXP reward |
Intermediate Daeva Wings
The wings land in your Cube, not directly in your gear slots. Open your Cube, find the wings, and claim them to your inventory first — then equip them from there. Don’t skip this step or they’ll sit unused in the Cube.
As an Owned Effect item, these Wings contribute to your total Flight Power even if you switch to a different pair later. Every Wing you collect adds to your airtime gauge permanently. For more on that system, see the flight power guide.
Stigma Shard
The Stigma Shard is used to unlock Stigma Skills — powerful class-specific abilities that add a second layer to your combat kit. This is your first significant Stigma resource, so spend it on a skill that fits your build and playstyle. The Stigma guide covers which skills are worth prioritizing for each class.
Pantheon System Unlock
The Pantheon system opens up as a new progression layer after this quest. It’s one of Aion 2’s long-term character development systems — worth exploring as you continue leveling toward the cap. The endgame guide covers how it fits into the bigger picture once you hit Level 45.
What to Do After Completing the Quest
With the quest done and your rewards collected, a few things are worth handling straight away:
- Equip the Intermediate Daeva Wings from your inventory so they start contributing Flight Power and their stat bonuses.
- Spend the Stigma Shard on a skill from the Stigma menu. Don’t sit on it indefinitely — the upgrade is available and worth using.
- Check the Pantheon system in your Journal or the relevant menu and start investing points. Early Pantheon progress compounds over time.
- Continue the main Episode chain. With Daeva in a Dream now complete, the next story chapter unlocks and the progression road to Level 32 opens up.
If you want to get the most out of your new Stigma skill, spend a few minutes on a Training Scarecrow working out how it fits into your rotation before heading back into questing.
FAQ – The One Who Hears the Voice
Why can’t I find The One Who Hears the Voice in my Journal?
Two conditions must be met: your Ascension Gauge must be at 100% and you must have progressed the main story to the Level 22 quest Daeva in a Dream. If either condition is missing, the quest doesn’t appear. Check your Ascension Gauge under the minimap and your main story progress in the Journal.
Where is Asahr in Aion 2?
Asahr is at the Dream Crossroad, a separate dimension not accessible from the open world map. You reach him by opening your Journal (J), going to the Ascension tab, selecting the quest, and pressing the Teleport icon. There is no physical location to walk to.
Why is the Teleport button greyed out?
Either your Ascension Gauge hasn’t reached 100% or you haven’t completed the required Level 22 main quest yet. Both conditions must be true for the Teleport to work.
What enemies are in the Dream Remnants?
Two waves of regular enemies — Dream Guardians, Dream Watchers, Dream Guardian Knights, and Dream Knights — followed by the elite boss Dream Guardian Eonos at Level 23. Defeat all waves in order; each group must be fully cleared before the next spawns.
What are the rewards for The One Who Hears the Voice?
You receive Intermediate Daeva Wings (in your Cube — claim them before equipping), a Stigma Shard to unlock a Stigma Skill, and access to the Pantheon system. The quest also simultaneously completes the Episode quest Daeva in a Dream.
Do I need to claim the Intermediate Daeva Wings from my Cube?
Yes. The wings land in your Cube, not your inventory or gear slots. Open your Cube, find the wings, and move them to your inventory first — then you can equip them normally.
What level should I be for this quest?
The recommended level is 22. The enemies inside range from Level 22 to 23. At the correct level with reasonably current gear, the trial is straightforward. If you’re underleveled, finish a few more Regional quests before attempting it — they’ll also help fill the Ascension Gauge if it’s not at 100% yet.
Does this quest work the same for Elyos and Asmodian?
Yes. The two factions follow different main story chains to reach it, but the Ascension quest itself — the arena, the enemies, the rewards — is identical for both Elyos and Asmodian characters.
What comes after The One Who Hears the Voice?
The next Ascension quest is The One Who Dreams, which becomes available at Level 32 after filling the Ascension Gauge again through Regional Quests, Episode progress, and Sealed Dungeons. The main story also continues from where Daeva in a Dream left off.
How do I fill the Ascension Gauge if I’m stuck?
The fastest method is Regional Quests — each one fills about 5% of the gauge. Pick them up naturally as you explore or actively seek out quest givers in your current region. Episode Quests and Sealed Dungeons also contribute. The full breakdown is in the Ascension Gauge guide.
