TL;DR
- Level 45 is where the real game begins. Progression shifts fully to Item Level.
- Finish the Ascension quest chain first — it rewards your Ascension Bracelet and unlocks core systems.
- Hit 1,000 Item Level to unlock the Abyss and complete the Forgotten Commander quest.
- Endgame has five main content pillars: Expeditions, Transcendence, Nightmare, Ascension Trial, and Sanctuary raids.
- Weekly limits apply to most content — manage your entries carefully and never let them go to waste.
- The Item Level roadmap runs: 700 → 1,000 → 1,400 → 1,600 → 2,100 → 2,500 → 2,800.
- Sanctuary raid entry starts at 2,800 Item Level (Abyssal Forge: Ludra). Three raids exist total.
- PvP fans head to the Abyss — 7 hours of access per layer per week and its own gear track.
What Is the Endgame in AION 2?
Once you hit Level 45, character leveling stops. Everything from this point forward is about one number: Item Level. It determines which dungeons you can enter, which raid tiers open up, and how strong your character actually is in combat.
The endgame in AION 2 is deep. There are instanced PvE dungeons, timed challenge runs, 10-player raids, a PvP open-world zone, solo boss ladders, and a full set of permanent progression systems sitting underneath all of it. This guide walks through every piece of endgame content, what it gives you, and the correct order to approach it.
If you are still leveling or just hit the cap, start with our AION 2 Leveling and Progression Guide and our What to Farm First guide before reading this.
First Things to Do at Level 45
Before jumping into endgame content, there are a few things to check off immediately.
Complete the Ascension Quest Chain
The very first thing to do at Level 45 is finish the Ascension quest chain. Do not skip this. It rewards your Ascension Bracelet — a Unique-grade accessory that will serve as your bracelet for a long time — plus Daevanion Crystals, Enhance Stones, and other materials. The quest chain also formally unlocks core endgame systems and sets up the Forgotten Commander quest line.
Reach 1,000 Item Level
At 1,000 Item Level, the game opens up significantly. The Forgotten Commander quest becomes available, which unlocks the Abyss and formally marks the start of full endgame access. If you arrive at Level 45 below 1,000 Item Level, your only job is to close that gap: fill every gear slot with the highest item level available, enhance your weapon first, and run whatever dungeon or quest content still gives you upgrades.
Finish Any Missed Permanent Progression
Before spending Odyle Energy on Conquest runs, do a quick cleanup. Clear any Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds you missed while leveling — they give permanent Daevanion progression and Belt Scrolls. Complete any remaining Regional Quests for Liberator accessories and Clash Runes. Submit Empyrean Trace Feathers to the Monolith for Amulet Scrolls. These permanent upgrades are free Item Level that costs nothing to claim.

For a full breakdown of what to prioritize first, see our AION 2 List of All Pets and What to Farm First guides.
AION 2 Endgame Item Level Roadmap
Every piece of endgame content in AION 2 has an Item Level gate. Here is the full roadmap from fresh Level 45 to raid-ready:
- Item Level 700: Krao Cave and Draupnir Conquest (paired dungeons — Item Level 54 gear).
- Item Level 1,000: Abyss unlocks. Forgotten Commander quest. Nightmare recommended. Ascension Trial opens.
- Item Level 1,400: Urugugu Canyon and Vakron Sky Island Conquest (Item Level 70 gear).
- Item Level 1,600: Transcendence unlocks — Deus Research Base and Shattered Arkanis. Arcana farming begins.
- Item Level 2,100: Fire Temple and Ferocious Horn Den Conquest (Item Level 86 gear).
- Item Level 2,200: Higher Transcendence stages open for better Arcana grades.
- Item Level 2,500: Ascension Trial Extreme difficulty. Final Arcana and pre-raid preparation.
- Item Level 2,800: Sanctuary raid — Abyssal Forge: Ludra (10-player). First raid tier.
AION 2 Weekly Limits: What Resets and When
Most endgame content in AION 2 is time-gated with weekly caps. The weekly reset happens every Wednesday. Understanding these limits is essential — unspent entries do not always roll over.
- Expedition Conquest runs: 21 runs per week (raised from 14 in May 2026). These bank across the week.
- Transcendence runs: 14 runs per week (raised from 7 in May 2026). These bank across the week.
- Sanctuary raids: 4 attempts per raid per week. Unspent attempts reset Wednesday and are lost.
- Ascension Trial: 3 entries per week per character. Unspent entries reset Wednesday and are lost.
- Nightmare: 2 attempts per day, banking up to 14 stored. Does not reset weekly — banks daily.
- Abyss: 7 hours of access time per layer per week. Reset Wednesday.
- Daily Dungeon: Entries reset weekly on Wednesday. Do not skip these — they give free Enhance Stones and Kinah daily.
Never let your Sanctuary, Ascension Trial, or Abyss hours go to waste. These are your highest-value weekly entries and they do not carry over.
Expedition Dungeons: Your Core Gear Loop
Expedition dungeons are the backbone of PvE gearing in AION 2. They come in two modes: Exploration (easier, lower Odyle cost, 20 energy per cube) and Conquest (harder, better rewards, 40 energy per cube). For serious gear progression, run Conquest. Use Exploration for Enhance Stone farming when you want to stretch your Odyle budget.
There are 11 Expedition dungeons in total, organized into paired tiers. Always run both dungeons in a tier — each pair covers different gear slots (weapons and accessories in one, armor in the other). Running only one dungeon leaves half your slots without a source.
Expedition Dungeon Tiers
- Krao Cave + Draupnir (Item Level 700) — Entry endgame gear, Item Level 54. Krao Cave drops weapons and accessories; Draupnir covers armor. Krao Cave also drops around 70,000 Kinah per run. Good early Kinah source.
- Urugugu Canyon + Vakron Sky Island (Item Level 1,400) — Item Level 70 Unique gear. A major power spike. Enhancement starts to matter more here — push key pieces toward +10.
- Fire Temple + Ferocious Horn Den (Item Level 2,100) — Item Level 86 gear. The highest Conquest tier. This is the gear you carry into Sanctuary raids.
- Azure Breath Island — Added in the April 2026 update (Exploration and Conquest, Normal and Hard difficulties). Additional endgame Expedition content at the top tier.
From March 2026, Elyos and Asmodians can now party together for all Expedition, Transcendence, and Sanctuary content. Cross-faction matchmaking makes finding groups significantly easier.
Transcendence Dungeons: How to Farm Arcana
Transcendence is the most important endgame system for raw power. These are timed 5-player dungeons where you must kill a fixed number of monsters and bosses as fast as possible. Your rank at the end (S being the best) determines reward quality. Getting S rank consistently is the goal.
Transcendence is the primary source of Arcana cards. Arcana cards slot into your character and add between +20 and +80 Item Level per slot depending on grade, plus bonus skill levels. Never leave Arcana slots empty.
Arcana Card Grades and Item Level
- Common: +20 Item Level per slot
- Rare: +40 Item Level per slot
- Epic/Legendary: +60 Item Level per slot
- Unique: +80 Item Level per slot, plus +1 per card enhancement level
Fill empty Arcana slots with Common cards immediately. A full set of Common cards across all five slots adds 100 Item Level instantly. Then upgrade them over time as you farm higher grades from Transcendence runs.
Transcendence Dungeon Tiers
- Deus Research Base + Shattered Arkanis (unlocks at 1,600 Item Level) — Entry Transcendence. Common and Rare Arcana drops.
- Higher Transcendence stages (unlocks from 2,200 Item Level) — Epic and Unique Arcana drops. Higher time pressure and difficulty.
Farm the highest Transcendence stage your group can S-rank consistently. Steady S-rank clears on a lower stage give better long-term Arcana progress than failing the harder stage.
Each Transcendence run costs 40 Odyle Energy per reward cube. Budget your Odyle carefully across Expedition and Transcendence to avoid running dry mid-week.
Nightmare: Solo Boss Challenge
Nightmare is a solo boss ladder. You progress through increasingly difficult boss tiers, each requiring you to defeat a boss within a time limit. It is the only solo endgame combat challenge outside of Ascension Trial.
You get 2 Nightmare attempts per day, banking up to 14 stored. Unlike most other content, Nightmare attempts do not reset weekly — they accumulate daily. Do not let your bank hit 14 or you start losing daily attempts.
Nightmare rewards Phantasmal Fragments (Dream Fragments) — currency spent in the Nightmare Exchange Shop. The shop sells Daevanion Crystals, Pantheon Statue pieces, and other permanent progression materials. Nightmare is also where Pantheon Statues come from — each Statue and Colossus piece gives your character permanent passive stat bonuses that compound over time.
Dream Layer IV opened with the Chapter 1 July 2026 update, adding a new boss and new statue rewards. An Instant Complete button was added in the April 2026 update — it lets you skip the fight on previously cleared stages using an Instant Complete Ticket, saving time on farm runs.
Aim to clear each difficulty tier 4 times per week for maximum currency accumulation. First clears on a new difficulty give bonus Phantasmal Fragments.
Ascension Trial: Weekly Solo Challenge
The Ascension Trial is a solo timed dungeon where you fight waves of monsters and a final boss against the clock, choosing your difficulty level on entry. It is separate from Nightmare — the two are completely different systems.
You get 3 Ascension Trial entries per week per character. These reset on Wednesday and any unspent entries are lost. Always use all three entries before reset.
The main reward from Ascension Trial is Stigma Shards — the currency used to level your Stigma Skills. Stigma Skills push to Level 20 in Global Season 1, and the Ascension Trial is one of the most reliable weekly Stigma Shard sources outside the Abyss shop. Ascension Trial also drops traces you can morph, and at 10% chance can give powerful items that directly add combat power.
Run Normal difficulty as a minimum. Do not waste entries on Easy. At 2,500 Item Level, the Extreme difficulty unlocks for significantly better rewards.
Sanctuary Raids: 10-Player Endgame Raids
Sanctuaries are AION 2’s raid tier — 10-player boss encounters that represent the hardest PvE content in the game. Three Sanctuaries exist:
- Abyssal Forge: Ludra — Entry raid. Requires 2,800 Item Level. 10 players split into two teams of five.
- Corroded Decontamination Facility — Second Sanctuary. Unlocked with the March 2026 update.
- Chalice of Muspel (Muspel’s Chalice) — Highest-tier Sanctuary. Added in the May 2026 update. The hardest PvE content currently in the global game.
Each Sanctuary gives 4 attempts per raid per week. These reset Wednesday and do not carry over. Final boss kill rewards doubled in the July 2026 Chapter 1 update — all rewards now come from the final boss kill through Odyle Energy, replacing the old mid-boss reward structure. Raids cost 80 Odyle Energy per reward cube — the most expensive content in the game. Plan your Odyle budget accordingly.
Sanctuary drops the best PvE gear in the game. You need a coordinated group of 10. Find a guild or static raid group before attempting — pickup groups on this content are much less reliable.
The Abyss: Open-World PvP Zone
The Abyss (Reshanta) is AION 2’s RvR (Realm vs Realm) zone. Elyos and Asmodians fight each other for control of Artifacts, boss kills, and territory. It opens at 1,000 Item Level.
Each character gets 7 hours of Abyss access time per layer per week. Use this time efficiently — do not wander aimlessly. Earn Abyss Points by killing enemy-faction players, completing PvE mobs in the Abyss, and capturing Artifacts. Artifact capture and boss schedules run at specific times: check the Wed/Sat 22:00 window for Artifact events and the Fri/Sun 22:00 window for Guardian General Nahma.
What to Buy with Abyss Points
- Abyss gear — A dedicated PvP gear track with its own set bonuses for damage amplification and damage reduction in PvP. The Abyss gear blueprint inheritance system lets you upgrade across tiers: Decurion → Centurion → Tribune → Legion Commander → Elite Legion Commander → Royal Guard Captain.
- Potential Stones — Used for the Potential Enhancement system on dungeon gear (adds up to 4 stages of PvE damage bonuses).
- Stigma Shards — A reliable supplement to Ascension Trial Shard drops.
- Daevanion Crystals — Always worth buying whenever available. Each crystal is +1 permanent Item Level.
- Medals — Used in Abyss gear blueprint crafting and inheritance upgrades.
The August 2026 patch significantly raised the set-bonus damage amplification on Abyss gear at the 8-piece and 12-piece steps — doubling at both thresholds. Abyss gear is now a serious PvP power investment, not just a cosmetic alt-track.
Open-world RvR in the Abyss remains faction versus faction even after the March 2026 cross-faction dungeon update. You fight opposite-faction players in the Abyss regardless of party composition settings.
Space-Time Rifts

Space-Time Rifts are portals that occasionally open in the open world, giving you limited-time access to the opposite faction’s zones. This lets Elyos players enter Asmodian Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds for their first-clear rewards, and vice versa.
Rifts also give Abyss Points and Enhance Stones when you complete Sealed Dungeons or Strongholds in enemy territory. If you have any first-clear permanent upgrades still missing from the other faction’s maps, Rifts are your only way to get them. Check Rift availability regularly and take advantage of every window.
Pantheon System: Free Passive Stats
The Pantheon is a housing-like progression system that sits alongside your character. You place Statues, Colossi, Picture Frames, and Artifacts in your Pantheon to earn permanent passive stat bonuses. Every piece you place — even Common and Rare grade items — contributes to your total power.
Pantheon Statue pieces come primarily from the Nightmare Exchange Shop. Nightmare farming is therefore doubly valuable — it gives Daevanion Crystals through shop purchases and fuels your Pantheon simultaneously. Do not skip Nightmare farming because you think the boss challenge looks difficult. The currency rewards alone justify running it every day.
Potential Enhancement System
Potential Enhancement was added in the March 2026 update. It lets you add up to 4 stages of Potential stats to dungeon gear through the Integrated Enhancement system. Materials come from converting gear of the same difficulty and category — weapon Potential materials come from other weapons, armor from armor, accessories from accessories.
What it gives per +1 Potential stage:
- Weapon: +0.6% PvE damage
- Armor: +0.3% PvE damage resistance
- Accessory: +0.3% PvE damage
Potential stages are not inherited when you upgrade gear to a higher tier, so only start investing Potential on gear you plan to keep for a while. Prioritize your weapon first — it gives the highest return per stage.
Dimensional Invasion and Shugo Festival
Both of these activities unlock at Level 45 and run on a schedule.
Dimensional Invasion is a time-limited event window where players cooperate across the server to defeat waves of enemies. Since the April 2026 update, Dimensional Invasion reward keys and Mission quest counts became server-wide, and Mission rewards (excluding gear) roughly doubled. It gives solid early gear and progression materials.
Shugo Festival activates every hour on the hour (since April 2026). It contains minigames that give equipment and currency. From the May 2026 update, Shugo Festival also sells the Wandering Merchant Lugi pet. Check the festival regularly — the shop rotates and missing it means waiting another hour.
Field Bosses
Field Bosses spawn in the open world on a schedule. They drop Unique-grade gear, and since the March 2026 update, that field boss Unique gear can be Potential-enhanced and also used as Potential Stone conversion material. Field bosses are worth targeting when they spawn near your grinding area.
The July 2026 Chapter 1 update also introduced field bosses with specific spawn windows — bosses in the Abyss despawn after 30 minutes, so check your schedule and be ready at the correct time.
Subjugation System
Subjugation tickets are a weekly entry system for specific content. Entries reset on Wednesday like Sanctuary and Ascension Trial. The specifics of what each Subjugation run gives depends on the current season, but they feed into the same weekly material budget. Do not let Subjugation tickets go unused — treat them as part of your Wednesday-reset checklist alongside Sanctuary and Ascension Trial.
Life Skills and Crafting
Life Skills — Gathering, Alchemy, and Handicrafting — are not flashy but they contribute to your Kinah generation on a daily basis. Prioritize leveling one Life Skill to 40 once you are established at max level. Alchemy and Handicrafting produce consumables and materials that sell steadily to other players. Gathering keeps you in raw materials while you quest and fly between content.
Crafted gear at the higher tiers can surpass dungeon drops in specific slots. The weapon crafting path in particular — progressing from Crimson or Obsidian weapons through to Horn Dragon weapons — is a solid alternative gearing track for players who want to supplement their dungeon runs.
AION 2 Endgame Daily and Weekly Routine
Managing your time and entry limits well separates efficient players from those who stall at gear gates. Here is a clean routine to follow:
Daily
- Complete Daily Dungeon — free Enhance Stones and Kinah, no Odyle cost.
- Complete up to 5 Duty (Daily) Quests — Kinah, Enhance Stones, and Odyle rechargers.
- Use up to 2 Nightmare attempts — bank toward the 14-attempt maximum, never let it cap.
- Gather Life Skill materials while traveling between content.
- Check Shugo Festival on the hour for useful shop items.
- Spend any new Daevanion Crystals immediately on the Daevanion Board.
Weekly (before Wednesday reset)
- Spend all 4 Sanctuary attempts per raid — these are lost on reset.
- Use all 3 Ascension Trial entries — these are lost on reset.
- Use Subjugation tickets — these are lost on reset.
- Spend Abyss time in the 7-hour weekly window per layer.
- Run Expedition Conquest dungeons for the week (21 run cap).
- Run Transcendence for the week (14 run cap).
- Claim Daeva Pass weekly EXP limit.
Common Endgame Mistakes to Avoid
- Letting Sanctuary and Ascension Trial entries expire: These reset Wednesday and anything unused is gone. Put them in your weekly schedule and treat them as non-negotiable.
- Leaving Arcana slots empty: Even Common cards add meaningful Item Level. Fill slots the moment you have cards available.
- Spending Odyle on low-tier dungeons too long: Move up to the next dungeon tier as soon as your Item Level qualifies. Higher-tier cubes give better rewards per Odyle spent.
- Ignoring Nightmare: Phantasmal Fragments buy Daevanion Crystals and Pantheon Statue pieces. Skipping Nightmare means skipping two permanent progression systems simultaneously.
- Enhancing gear you are about to replace: Save Enhance Stones for pieces that will stay equipped for a while. Moving up tiers means some enhancement investment is lost.
- Ignoring the Potential Enhancement system: +0.6% PvE damage per stage on your weapon adds up fast. Start investing once you have stable gear.
- Letting Nightmare attempts bank to 14: At 14 stored attempts you stop earning the daily 2. Run Nightmare every day to prevent the cap.
AION 2 Endgame Summary
The endgame in AION 2 is wide. There is always something to run, something to upgrade, and something to work toward. The key is knowing what each system feeds into and managing your limited weekly entries so nothing goes to waste.
The short version: finish your Ascension chain, hit 1,000 Item Level, run your paired Expedition dungeons in tier order, build Arcana through Transcendence at 1,600, never skip Nightmare for Daevanion and Pantheon materials, use every Ascension Trial and Sanctuary entry before Wednesday, and spend your Abyss hours during the scheduled boss and Artifact windows.
Follow that loop and you will climb the Item Level ladder steadily toward Sanctuary raids and the best gear in the game.
