TL;DR – Quick Summary
- Secret items and hidden lore notes in Resonance are called Artefacts — split into Relics of the Present (14 total) and Relics of the Past (23 total), making 37 in all.
- Finding all 37 unlocks the Hoarder trophy and achievement.
- None are missable — every artefact can be collected via Chapter Select after finishing the story.
- Relics of the Present are real-world medieval objects Sophia picks up — books, masks, personal items, tools.
- Relics of the Past are ancient Minoan objects — statues, mosaics, ceremonial items, architectural relics — each one adding lore about the island’s history and Theseus’s world.
- Chapters 8 and 14 have zero artefacts. Chapter 3 has the most in a single chapter with 6.
- Most artefacts are in dead-end side paths just off the main route. If you hit a wall or a cliff edge on a branching path, an artefact is almost certainly there.
- The Artefacts menu in the game tracks every item by name in order — use it to identify exactly which ones you’re missing without replaying blindly.
All secret items and hidden lore notes locations in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy are tracked as Artefacts in the game’s collection system. These are physical objects Sophia finds across the island — some belonging to the medieval world she came from, others ancient Minoan relics left behind thousands of years ago. Each one adds a layer of story detail the main narrative doesn’t spell out directly. The Relics of the Past especially tell the island’s deeper history: who Theseus was, what Daedalus built, and what the trials were originally designed to do. If you care about the lore of the A Plague Tale universe, these are worth hunting down beyond just the trophy. To understand how all these ancient objects connect to the game’s dual timeline structure, the Ancient Minoa puzzle guide explains the full picture of how Sophia’s world and Theseus’s world interact.

Understanding the Two Types of Artefacts
Before jumping into locations, it helps to know what you’re looking for and why the two types behave differently as collectibles.
Relics of the Present (14 Total)
These are objects from Sophia’s world — the medieval 14th century. They include carnival masks, religious icons, literary texts, personal items from crew members and enemies, trade goods, and curiosities from the European world Sophia operates in. When you interact with one, Sophia or a crew member makes a short comment about it. They often add flavour to the characters around Sophia and the world they came from rather than the island’s ancient secrets. They tend to appear on bodies, on the ground in open areas, or near environmental storytelling moments.
Relics of the Past (23 Total)
These are ancient Minoan objects. Figurines, mosaics, ceremonial weapons, architectural plans, ritual tools — objects left behind by the civilisation that built the island’s labyrinth. Each one tells you something about Minoan culture as the game has reinvented it within A Plague Tale’s mythology. They tend to be in harder-to-reach spots: tucked behind paintings, at the end of dead-end paths, inside collapsed ruins, or through gaps you’d normally walk past. The lore density here is significantly higher than the Relics of the Present.
Chapter 1 – Blood Ties (1 Artefact)
Relic of the Present #1 – Handled Cross

Sub-Chapter: 3 – The Search for the Key. When this sub-chapter begins, Sophia is in the desert courtyard with bodies on the floor she needs to loot. Before touching any body, look to the middle of the courtyard for a white tree branch. The Handled Cross artefact is on the ground directly underneath it. Pick it up before you interact with the bodies — looting both bodies advances the objective and makes you forget to look around.
Chapter 2 – Felons (2 Artefacts)
Relic of the Present #2 – Serenissima Banner

Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Carnival. After two guards search you and Leni at an archway entry, move through the first market square and continue until you reach a bridge with two guards stationed on it. Before crossing the bridge, turn right toward the docks. The Serenissima Banner is on the dockside ground there. Once you cross the bridge, the path moves forward and you won’t naturally loop back.
Relic of the Present #3 – Bombasin Mask

Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Carnival. After Leni lockpicks a side door and you squeeze through a backyard with two pigs, you reach the big carnival square with fire jugglers performing on a stage in front of the church gates. Go to the right corner of this square. A carnival mask is lying on the floor there. Pick it up before interacting with anything at the stage.
Chapter 3 – Those Before Us (6 Artefacts)
Chapter 3 has the highest artefact count of any single chapter — six in total. Most are in Sub-Chapter 1 and require you to check branching paths carefully. This chapter is largely exploration-focused, so there is time to look around without pressure.
Relic of the Present #4 – Conch Shell

Sub-Chapter: 1 – Paradise. At the beach where the chapter starts, look to the right of the big green gate. There is a small cave entrance in the cliff face. Climb in to find the Conch Shell inside. It is very close to the start — check before going through the gate.
Relic of the Past #1 – Play Onyx

Sub-Chapter: 1 – Paradise. From the beach, go past the green gate and look for the rocks above an alcove with distinctive brown colouring. Climb the rocks and shimmy across the gap to reach a forested area above. Once in the forest, enter the large alcove on the left side. A shimmering coin on the ground is the Play Onyx artefact.
Relic of the Past #2 – Golden Cup

Sub-Chapter: 1 – Paradise. After pushing down a log so Leni can cross, squeeze through the next gap to reach a second beach area. Head uphill into the woods and go all the way to the far end. A slope leads down to a dead-end path — follow it to the bottom before jumping across the gap to the ruins ahead. The Golden Cup is at the very bottom of that dead end. This is easy to miss because the gap to the ruins looks like the obvious route forward.
Relic of the Past #3 – Heroic Plaque

Sub-Chapter: 1 – Paradise. From the Golden Cup location, jump the gap into the ruins now. Navigate through the ruined building remains until you can see the cliffside overlooking the sea. Go to the ruin closest to the cliff edge — the Heroic Plaque is on the floor inside that ruin.
Relic of the Past #4 – Strategy Game
Sub-Chapter: 2 – Vestiges. After using the Grapnel to pull down a wooden barricade, you reach the area with the large statue. Go up the stairs on the right. At the top, jump left onto the adjacent ruins instead of continuing forward. A flat stone on the ruin floor can be interacted with — the Strategy Game artefact is underneath it.
Relic of the Past #5 – Minoan King
Sub-Chapter: 2 – Vestiges. After Leni lifts a log so you can crawl through a tunnel, exit the tunnel and look at the wall — there is a large fresco or painting. Go around the back of the wall with the painting into the ruin behind it. The Minoan King artefact is inside that ruin. This is one of the more story-rich artefacts — it depicts ancient Minoan royalty and connects directly to the island’s founding mythology.
Chapter 4 – From Hell It Rose (3 Artefacts)
Relic of the Present #5 – Polished Cornicello

Sub-Chapter: 2 – Down the Abyss. After solving a sphere puzzle to open a door, you reach a large open area with a giant statue ahead. Go right, drop down the ledge — then immediately turn around and climb down the ladder that is behind you. The Polished Cornicello is at the bottom. Players miss this constantly because they naturally move forward after the drop instead of turning around.
Relic of the Past #6 – Horned Rhyton
Sub-Chapter: 3 – Puzzles and Traps. After passing through the full corridor of spike traps (including the spike walls section), you enter another large puzzle room. Immediately turn left as you enter and go around the corner. The Horned Rhyton is right there. Don’t go toward the puzzle in the centre of the room first or you’ll likely forget to check the corner.
Relic of the Past #7 – Grand Mosaic
Sub-Chapter: 4 – At the Bottom. After a long zipline ride down, you land at the bottom. Immediately turn left and jump across the gap directly opposite the story path direction. The Grand Mosaic is on the far side of that jump. This one requires you to go the wrong way on purpose the moment you land — if you move forward toward the next objective marker without checking left, you’ll walk straight past it.
Chapter 5 – Desolation It Wrought (5 Artefacts)
Relic of the Past #8 – Griffin Figurine
Sub-Chapter: 2 – Battle Grounds. After defeating the first group of enemies in this chapter, go up and to the right of the ruins to find a secondary area with three more enemies. This ruin has a large pit of floor spikes in the centre. Look in the corner of this ruin — there are wooden boards you can shimmy across the gap to reach the far side. The Griffin Figurine is on the other side of the shimmy.
Relic of the Present #6 – Dante’s Inferno Canto XII

Sub-Chapter: 2 – Battle Grounds. Progress through the ruins until you see a large green gate ahead. Do not go through the gate yet. Face the gate and turn left — there is a ladder going down to a small enemy camp below. Defeat the enemies there. The Dante’s Inferno Canto XII book is sitting between the two white tents at the back of the camp. This is a Relic of the Present — a real book from Sophia’s medieval world, adding lore about how Dante’s Divine Comedy existed in this timeline.
Relic of the Past #9 – Scarab Amulet
Sub-Chapter: 3 – The Four Symbols. This one is inside the spike platform puzzle area — the same jump sequence you use to get the first symbol. The Scarab Amulet is in the back-left corner of the platform field. To reach it, follow the collectible path: jump Dots (2) → Kraken (3) → Dots (3) → Flower (2) → Kraken (2) → Dots (2) → Kraken (1, jump left). Then climb the rocks on the left and shimmy across the gap. The artefact is on the other side of that shimmy.
Relic of the Present #7 – Condottiero Stamp
Sub-Chapter: 3 – The Four Symbols. From the Central Temple’s four-pedestal room, take the exit with the “O with 3 lines” icon above the gate. Cross the bridge, go left, drop down to the enemies, defeat them. You’ll see a big green gate upstairs — do not go through it. Instead, go in the opposite direction to find an abandoned camp with a bull pillar. To the right of the bull pillar, follow the path down toward a gap. The Condottiero Stamp is before the gap at the end of that path.
Relic of the Past #10 – Ceremonial Blade
Sub-Chapter: 3 – The Four Symbols. From the bull pillar in the abandoned camp, take the path to the left of the bull pillar through the camp this time. Jump a gap at a small waterfall and continue down the path until you can turn right. Follow that right-turning path toward the water. The Ceremonial Blade artefact is at the end near the water’s edge.
Chapter 6 – What Lies Beneath (2 Artefacts)
Relic of the Past #11 – Minoan Queen
Sub-Chapter: 3 – False Hope. From the start of this sub-chapter, move forward past the broken water wheel. You will reach a jump gap. Before jumping and using the Grapnel to climb up, look for a dark cave entrance on the right. Enter it and climb up onto the ledge inside. The Minoan Queen artefact is up there. Grab it before you use the Grapnel to climb — once you climb, the path moves on.
Relic of the Past #12 – Corrupted Mosaic
Sub-Chapter: 5 – The Architect. After the cutscene where Sophia approaches the petrified person near the cliff and unlocks Daedalus’s Key, you find yourself in a round room. Face the staircase you came from. Go left of the staircase onto the dark path. A glimmering light in a nearby doorway marks the Corrupted Mosaic artefact. It’s very close — just left of the stairs in the dark.
Chapter 7 – Death It Sowed (4 Artefacts)
Relic of the Present #8 – Tarot Card
Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Whole Damn Army. When you arrive at the beach area with dead crew members around a tree, check the upper right corner of the beach. There is a body slumped against the rocks. Interact with it to find the Tarot Card. Check this before fighting all the soldiers so you don’t forget in the chaos.
Relic of the Past #13 – Kill Onyx
Sub-Chapter: 2 – The Whole Damn Army. After navigating the underground section, you emerge outside. Turn right and go around the corner. Look for a low rock you can crouch underneath. Once through, you’re at the back of a ruined structure. The Kill Onyx artefact is on the ground in front of a grate.
Relic of the Past #14 – Stained Mosaic
Sub-Chapter: 3 – A Stage of Skulls. After defeating the two guards at the Black Temple entrance at the top of the mountain, go right past the sealed temple door before opening it. The Stained Mosaic is just around the corner on a short path. This is the most commonly missed artefact in Chapter 7 — players immediately try to solve the door puzzle without checking right first.
Relic of the Past #15 – Kouros Puppet
Sub-Chapter: 5 – Its Ruins. After climbing a wall with the Grapnel and sliding down a slope, you land on an aqueduct. The story wants you to go left and take a zipline. Go right instead. The Kouros Puppet artefact is on a wooden platform to the right of the landing area. Take it, then come back and use the zipline to continue.
Chapter 9 – Night Has Come (3 Artefacts)
Relic of the Present #9 – Dante’s Inferno Canto V
Sub-Chapter: 3 – No Respite. After escaping the creature again in this sub-chapter, you enter a cave. Move forward until Sophia has a brief rest moment — a short cutscene where she catches her breath. Three paths open up. Take the right path. The Dante’s Inferno Canto V book is at the end of it. This is the second volume of the Inferno series in the game — a companion to the Canto XII found in Chapter 5.
Relic of the Past #16 – Phosphate Ring
Sub-Chapter: 4 – Hunted. In the ruins where the creature is chasing you, reach the stairs at the far end and climb them to find a light source. Once in the lit area, look ahead — there are two doorways. One has an interaction prompt (R3). The other has grass in front of it and orange light shining through. Crouch through the one with grass and orange light — the one without the R3 prompt. The Phosphate Ring is inside.
Relic of the Past #17 – Bronze Mirror
Sub-Chapter: 6 – Echoes of the Past. After a cutscene, drop down the next ledge and interact with the light source to turn it on. Face away from the light — turn right and move forward, then turn right again and climb the ledge. The Bronze Mirror artefact is on the platform at the top of that climb.
Chapter 10 – Parallel Paths (4 Artefacts)
Relic of the Past #18 – Sun Dial
Sub-Chapter: 1 – The Bridge. From the very start of the chapter, follow the linear path forward until you squeeze through a gap. Continue along the cliffside until you reach a ladder. To the right of the ladder, squeeze through another gap in the rocks before climbing. The Sun Dial artefact is in the small space behind that gap.
Relic of the Present #10 – Terra Incognita
Sub-Chapter: 1 – The Bridge. After a combat encounter, you slide down a slope into a big open woodland area. Stick to the far right edge of this area as you move through it. About 30 metres in, between two broken vases at the right edge, is the Terra Incognita artefact. This one is easy to miss by walking through the middle of the open area instead of hugging the right side.
Relic of the Present #11 – Thakourth Ball
Sub-Chapter: 2 – In the Plunderers’ Wake. At the very start of Sub-Chapter 2, after escaping a cave labyrinth and stepping outside, go immediately to the far right edge of the area near the water. The Thakourth Ball artefact is there before you advance further into the chapter.
Relic of the Past #19 – Impossible Mechanism
Sub-Chapter: 3 – Daedalus’ Workshop. Inside the workshop itself, go downstairs and cross the bridge on the right side. The Impossible Mechanism is in the right corner at the end of that bridge. This is one of the most lore-rich artefacts in the game — it is an object that should not exist given the era it was built in, hinting at Daedalus’s otherworldly abilities within the Plague Tale universe.
Chapter 11 – Patera (3 Artefacts)
Relic of the Past #20 – Olden Abacus
Sub-Chapter: 2 – Prisoners of the Factory. After completing the petrified crank puzzle and the enemy encounter that follows, you squeeze through a hole as the story path directs. Drop down the next ledge. A ladder on the left is the obvious story route down. Do not take the ladder — instead jump to the cliff on the right. The Olden Abacus artefact is on that right-side cliff above the ladder.
Relic of the Past #21 – Burnt Mosaic
Sub-Chapter: 4 – The Last Lens. After a second petrified crank puzzle, use the rope to climb down and defeat the enemies in the area that follows using the light beam on the floor. Once enemies are cleared, stand in the light and use the sphere to burn away white dusty spikes in the right corner between two kilns. This reveals a hidden passage. The Burnt Mosaic is at the end of it.
Relic of the Present #12 – Weasel Foot
Sub-Chapter: 6 – The Mines. When you reunite with Faro and enter the mines, follow the story path into a small camp area. Look right — a Resonance Point is visible on a hammock. Now look left — the Weasel Foot artefact is on the ground against the left wall of the camp. Both items are in this small camp at the same time, so grab both before moving on.
Chapter 12 – Fading Light (2 Artefacts)
Relic of the Present #13 – Loving Memento
Sub-Chapter: 1 – The Beam. After fighting through a cave room full of enemies, you emerge into a large open area. Turn right immediately upon entering the open area. Next to a dead body on the right is the Loving Memento artefact. This is a personal item with significant emotional weight — one of the more poignant Relics of the Present in the game’s second half.
Relic of the Past #22 – Blank Mosaic
Sub-Chapter: 4 – A Few More Steps. When you enter the trial area in this sub-chapter, use your Grapnel to swing across a gap. As soon as you land on the other side, do not move forward — turn right and jump the gap to the right of where you landed. The Blank Mosaic is on the platform on the far side of that jump. Moving forward without checking right is how players miss this one.
Chapter 13 – As One (2 Artefacts)
Relic of the Past #23 – Labyrinth Plan
Sub-Chapter: 1 – The Labyrinth. Deep inside the labyrinth, after swinging over a Grapnel hook to escape the creature for the third time, you land in front of a lamp. Turn left here and follow the dead-end path. The Labyrinth Plan artefact is at the end. A secondary landmark: this is roughly when Sophia’s screen flashes red and she moves slowly for a few seconds as if physically weakened by the labyrinth’s effects. That visual cue signals you are near this artefact’s location.
Relic of the Present #14 – Poisoned Syringe
Sub-Chapter: 4 – One Last Trial. After leaving an area with petrified enemies, squeeze through a gap. Immediately turn left and go around the corner before doing anything else. The Poisoned Syringe is in the dead end at the end of that left turn. This is the final Relic of the Present in the game and one of the most story-significant — its presence at this point in the story raises questions the game leaves deliberately unanswered.

Tips for Finding Every Secret Item and Lore Note
- Dead ends are always worth checking. Every branching path that ends at a cliff, wall, or water edge in this game has either an artefact, a Resonance Point, or a charm at the end of it. The game never creates a dead-end path for no reason. If a corridor looks like it leads nowhere, follow it anyway.
- Check opposite the story direction when you land after a zipline or big drop. Three artefacts in the game — Polished Cornicello in Chapter 4, Grand Mosaic in Chapter 4, and Blank Mosaic in Chapter 12 — are all positioned directly opposite where the story wants you to go after a significant drop or swing. The game expects you to turn around or look sideways.
- Use the Artefacts menu to track what’s missing. The menu lists every artefact by name in the order they appear across the game. If you’re missing one, you can narrow it down to a chapter and section without needing to check every location again.
- In the mine and cave chapters, always check both sides of a doorway. Chapters 9 through 13 use very similar dark interior environments. Side rooms and alternative doorways contain several artefacts that look identical to dead-end service corridors at first glance.
- Nothing is permanent — use Chapter Select freely. Unlike Resonance Points, artefacts are never locked out. You can return to any chapter at any time after completing the story and the item will still be there. There is no penalty for saving artefact collection for a second pass.
For the complete picture of everything collectible in the game — including Blades, Charms, Theseus Echoes, and Resonance Points — the all chapters and collectibles guide has chapter-by-chapter totals. If you want the lore context behind the most significant Relics of the Past relating to Sophia’s own backstory, the Who is Sophia guide explains her history and how many of these artefacts connect to her arc. For the bigger Plague Tale lore picture, the A Plague Tale timeline guide from Innocence to Resonance places the island’s history in full series context. The game is available on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. More information at the official Focus Entertainment site.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many secret items and lore notes are there in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?
There are 37 artefacts in total — the game’s term for secret items and hidden lore notes. These split into 14 Relics of the Present (medieval objects from Sophia’s world) and 23 Relics of the Past (ancient Minoan objects from the island’s pre-history). Collecting all 37 unlocks the Hoarder trophy on PlayStation and the equivalent achievement on Xbox and PC. Chapters 8 and 14 contain no artefacts at all. Chapter 3 has the highest single-chapter total with six.
Are any of the secret items or lore notes missable in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?
No. All 37 artefacts can be collected at any point including after the story ends, using the Chapter Select menu. The game tracks how many you have found in each chapter and displays totals in the Artefacts menu where each item is listed by name. This makes it straightforward to identify exactly which ones you’re missing and which chapter to replay. The only permanently missable collectibles in the game are Resonance Points — all artefacts, blades, and charms remain available indefinitely.
What is the difference between Relics of the Present and Relics of the Past?
Relics of the Present are objects from Sophia’s medieval world — books, personal items, carnival objects, tools, and curiosities that belonged to people in the 14th century setting the game takes place in. They add character flavour and world-building for Sophia’s era. Relics of the Past are ancient Minoan objects — ceremonial blades, mosaics, figurines, architectural documents, and ritual items from the civilisation that originally built the island’s labyrinth. They carry most of the game’s deeper lore about Theseus, Daedalus, and the Prima Macula’s ancient origins.
Which chapter has the most secret items to find in Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy?
Chapter 3 — Those Before Us — has the most artefacts of any single chapter, with six in total. All six are in the game’s first major Minoan exploration section, spread across Sub-Chapters 1 and 2. Most require you to take side paths and investigate branching routes rather than following the main story direction. Chapter 5 is the second heaviest with five artefacts, followed by Chapters 7 and 10 with four each.
