Who Is Chevreuse in Genshin Impact?
Chevreuse is a 4-star Pyro Polearm character from Fontaine in Genshin Impact. She is the captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, part of Fontaine’s Maison Gardiennage law enforcement institution. Firm, professional, and uncompromising, she is one of the most respected figures in Fontaine’s justice system.
She became playable in Version 4.3, released on January 9, 2024. Her constellation is named Sclopetum Ensiferum — Latin for “Sword-Bearing Rifle” — a fitting name for a character who wields both a polearm and a musket in battle. Her birthday is January 10, and her title is “Executor of Justice.”
In combat, Chevreuse is not a damage dealer. She is a specialist support who exists to make Overloaded teams work at their highest potential. Her kit provides healing, resistance shredding, and ATK% buffs — all in one compact, low-field-time package. She is one of the strongest 4-star supports in the game when used in the right team, particularly alongside characters like Raiden Shogun and Yoimiya.
Chevreuse Character Overview – Stats and Role
Chevreuse is built around one concept: enabling pure Pyro and Electro teams to deal maximum Overloaded damage. She provides the RES shred and ATK buffs those teams desperately need and can even heal the active character through her Elemental Skill. Her entire value comes from her passives and constellations, not her raw damage output.

Chevreuse Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- One of the strongest support kits in the game for Pyro/Electro teams
- Provides 40% Pyro and Electro RES shred — one of the highest debuffs available
- ATK% buff for the whole team scales with her HP, making her easy to cap
- Heals the active character passively through her Elemental Skill
- Very fast field time — she barely needs to be on screen to do her job
- No required constellations — C0 is fully functional
- Now available on the Standard banner, making her accessible over time
Weaknesses
- Locked into Pyro + Electro-only teams to activate her strongest passive
- Useless outside this restriction unless at C6
- Deals no meaningful damage of her own
- Cannot be used in teams with Hydro, Cryo, Anemo, Geo, or Dendro characters
- Limits team-building flexibility significantly
Chevreuse Skills and Abilities
Here is everything her kit does in combat, explained clearly.
Normal Attack – Line Shooter
Chevreuse performs up to four consecutive polearm strikes. Her Charged Attack consumes stamina for a lunging forward thrust. Her Plunging Attack deals AoE DMG on landing. None of these are meaningfully used in her support rotation. Her polearm is largely cosmetic in function — she fights with her musket.
Elemental Skill – Short-Range Rapid Interdiction Fire
This is the most important part of her kit. Chevreuse shoulders her musket and fires a shot at nearby enemies, dealing AoE Pyro DMG. After firing, she begins continuously restoring HP to the active character on the field. The amount healed scales with her Max HP, which is why building HP is her top priority.
When held, Chevreuse can fire an Overcharged Ball instead — a more powerful explosive shot that deals increased AoE Pyro DMG in a wider area. She gains access to an Overcharged Ball whenever a nearby party member triggers an Overloaded reaction. Only one Overcharged Ball can be stored at a time.
Firing the Overcharged Ball also triggers her 4th Ascension Passive, granting a team-wide ATK% boost. This is the second main reason to always trigger Overloaded before using her Hold Skill.
Elemental Burst – Ring of Bursting Grenades
Chevreuse fires an explosive grenade that deals AoE Pyro DMG. The grenade splits into smaller shells that each continue to deal Pyro DMG on contact. Her Burst also has a useful interaction with her Elemental Skill — using the Burst after it removes the Hold cooldown for two uses of her Skill. This allows for quick back-to-back Overcharged Ball shots in certain rotations.
In most teams, her Burst is used situationally — not every rotation. If she runs the Noblesse Oblige artifact set, using it becomes more important to activate the 4-piece team ATK buff. If she doesn’t, some players skip it to reduce energy needs and field time.
Passive Talents
- Vanguard’s Coordinated Tactics (1st Ascension Passive — Most Important): When all party members are Pyro or Electro (with at least one of each element), Chevreuse grants “Coordinated Tactics” to everyone. Whenever any party member triggers Overloaded, all enemies hit by that reaction have their Pyro RES and Electro RES reduced by 40% for 6 seconds. This buff applies even when Chevreuse is not on the field, and she does not need to be the one triggering the reaction. This passive is the entire reason Overloaded teams need her.
- Vertical Force Coordination (4th Ascension Passive): After firing an Overcharged Ball with her Hold Skill, all nearby Pyro and Electro party members gain an ATK% increase equal to 1% for every 1,000 Max HP Chevreuse has. This caps at 40% ATK. At 40,000 HP, she gives the whole team 40% more ATK — a massive buff. This passive does not require all party members to be Pyro/Electro, making it slightly more flexible.
- Utility Passive – Smoke and Mirrors: Decreases sprint Stamina consumption for all party members by 20%. A nice quality-of-life bonus for exploration.
Best Chevreuse Build in Genshin Impact
Chevreuse is a support. Her build goal is simple: stack HP to hit 40,000 and generate enough Energy Recharge to use her Burst when needed.
Support Build (Standard – Best)
- Artifact Set: Noblesse Oblige (4-piece)
- Sands Main Stat: HP% or Energy Recharge (if needed)
- Goblet Main Stat: HP%
- Circlet Main Stat: HP% or Healing Bonus
- Substat Priority: HP% / Energy Recharge / flat HP
The goal of 40,000 HP is achievable through weapon passives and artifact stats together. Noblesse Oblige’s 4-piece bonus gives the whole team 20% ATK for 12 seconds after using her Burst, stacking on top of her own HP-based ATK buff from her passive.
Alternative: Song of Days Past (4-piece)
If another team member already carries Noblesse Oblige, Song of Days Past is an excellent alternative. It provides healing-based buffs for the team. The same main stat priorities apply — HP% and Energy Recharge as needed.
Alternative: 2-piece Combos
A 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith combined with a 2-piece Vourukasha’s Glow is also a solid option if you have good HP% substats and do not need the 4-piece bonuses from either full set. These two 2-piece bonuses together give a significant HP increase that helps reach the 40,000 HP cap faster.
Best Weapons for Chevreuse
Chevreuse wants weapons that give her HP%, Energy Recharge, or both. Here are the top options:
- Favonius Lance (4-star): The most practically useful weapon for most accounts. It gives Energy Recharge and generates energy particles for the whole team when she scores CRIT hits. If your Raiden Shogun, Yoimiya, or other teammates are energy-hungry, this is often her best choice. It smooths out rotations significantly.
- Black Tassel (3-star): A surprisingly strong budget weapon that gives a massive HP% bonus. It is very easy to obtain and refine to Refinement 5. With a high-refinement Black Tassel, reaching 40,000 HP is straightforward even without perfect artifact substats. Excellent for players who already have enough Energy Recharge elsewhere.
- Rightful Reward (4-star): Provides HP% as a substat and restores Energy to Chevreuse when she heals a character. Works well for players who want an HP weapon without sacrificing energy management.
- Kitain Cross Spear (4-star, Craftable): A craftable option that provides Elemental Mastery and drains then restores Energy over time. Useful if you want to reduce her energy cost slightly without relying on CRIT hits like the Favonius Lance.
- Engulfing Lightning (5-star): A top-tier option if you have it and do not need it on Raiden Shogun. It provides Energy Recharge and converts ER into ATK%. Overkill for Chevreuse in most scenarios but very strong if available.
Best Chevreuse Teams in Genshin Impact
Chevreuse is locked to Pyro and Electro compositions. Every team she joins must contain only Pyro and Electro characters — no exceptions — to trigger her key passive. Here are the strongest options.
Premium Overloaded Team (Meta)
Arlecchino / Raiden Shogun / Chevreuse / Bennett
Arlecchino is one of the strongest on-field Pyro carries. Raiden Shogun provides consistent off-field Electro application and excellent energy generation. Chevreuse shreds enemy resistance and buffs ATK. Bennett heals and boosts ATK further while staying within the Pyro/Electro team restriction. This team is a powerhouse in the current meta.
Yoimiya Overloaded Team
Yoimiya / Raiden Shogun / Chevreuse / Bennett
Yoimiya’s consistent Pyro application from her Elemental Skill makes Overloaded trigger almost constantly alongside Raiden’s off-field Electro. Chevreuse shreds resistance on every explosion. Bennett fills the healer-buffer role within the elemental restriction. A fun and explosive team for single-target content.
Clorinde Overloaded Team
Clorinde / Fischl / Chevreuse / Xiangling
Clorinde is an on-field Electro carry who benefits greatly from Chevreuse’s Electro RES shred. Fischl provides off-field Electro through Oz. Xiangling applies off-field Pyro via Guoba and her Burst. Chevreuse ties it all together with her buffs and healing. A strong team for players who own Clorinde.
Raiden Hypercarry Overloaded Team
Raiden Shogun / Yoimiya / Chevreuse / Kujou Sara
Raiden Shogun acts as the main carry. Yoimiya provides off-field Pyro application via Aurous Blaze. Kujou Sara buffs Raiden’s ATK and CRIT DMG. Chevreuse provides resistance shred and her own ATK boost. A high-investment team that works well at high constellation Raiden and Sara.
Budget Overloaded Team (F2P-Friendly)
Xiangling / Fischl / Chevreuse / Bennett
A solid F2P option using completely free or easily obtained characters. Xiangling applies off-field Pyro, Fischl applies off-field Electro through Oz, and Bennett provides healing and ATK. Chevreuse ties everything together. All four characters can be obtained without spending Primogems. This team is very effective in the mid-game and even holds up in Spiral Abyss with good builds.

Chevreuse Constellations Guide
Chevreuse is fully functional at C0, but her constellations add considerable value. Here is what each one does:
- C1 – Stable Front Line’s Resolve: Whenever a party member with the Coordinated Tactics buff (excluding Chevreuse) triggers Overloaded, they recover 6 Energy. This effect can trigger once every 10 seconds. A helpful constellation for energy-hungry carries like Raiden Shogun or Yoimiya, reducing their need for Energy Recharge on artifacts.
- C2 – Sniper Induced Explosion: After firing a Hold Skill Overcharged Ball and hitting a target, two additional chain explosions are triggered at the hit location. Each explosion deals Pyro DMG equal to 120% of Chevreuse’s ATK. A minor damage boost — not transformative, but noticeable.
- C3 – Practiced Field Stripping Technique: Increases the talent level of her Elemental Skill by 3. Since her Skill’s healing and Overcharged Ball damage both scale with talent levels, this is a decent upgrade, especially for the healing output.
- C4 – The Right Tool for the Job: After using her Elemental Burst, the Hold cooldown of her Skill is removed for two uses, or for 6 seconds. This allows her to fire the Hold version of her Skill twice in quick succession after the Burst, making Overcharged Ball double-fires much easier to execute in rotations.
- C5 – Enhanced Incendiary Firepower: Increases the talent level of her Elemental Burst by 3. Helpful for builds that use her Burst every rotation, increasing Noblesse Oblige uptime and Burst DMG.
- C6 – Grandmaster’s Flawless Unison (Best Constellation): After 12 seconds of healing from her Elemental Skill, all nearby party members recover HP equal to 10% of Chevreuse’s Max HP once. Additionally, after a party member is healed by her Skill, they gain a 20% Pyro DMG Bonus and Electro DMG Bonus for 8 seconds. This buff can stack up to 3 times, each counted independently, for a maximum of 60% Pyro and Electro DMG Bonus. This is an exceptional constellation. The 60% DMG Bonus from triple stacking combined with her existing 40% RES shred makes her a top-tier support in the game. At C6, she can even see use outside strict Overloaded teams, since the C6 buff does not require only Pyro/Electro characters.
Investment priority: C0 is fine to start. C1 helps energy management. C6 is the major stopping point that transforms her from a solid support into one of the best 4-star supports in the game.
Chevreuse Talent Priority
Chevreuse’s talents are not a priority compared to most DPS characters, but they do matter for her healing output and Overcharged Ball damage.
- Elemental Skill – Short-Range Rapid Interdiction Fire (First): Her most important talent. Levels here increase the amount of HP she restores per tick, which also affects C6 healing. The Overcharged Ball damage also scales with this talent.
- Elemental Burst – Ring of Bursting Grenades (Second): Useful if you use her Burst frequently for Noblesse Oblige uptime. Increases the AoE Pyro DMG it deals.
- Normal Attack (Skip): Never used in her support rotation. Do not level this.
For most players, leveling her Skill to 8 or 9 is sufficient. Crowning Chevreuse is unnecessary unless you are committed to maximizing her healing uptime at C6.
How to Play Chevreuse – Rotation Tips
Chevreuse has one of the shortest field times of any support in Genshin Impact. Her rotation is quick and clean. Here is how it works in a standard Overloaded team:
- Enter the fight with your Electro character and trigger an Overloaded reaction to give Chevreuse an Overcharged Ball charge.
- Swap to Chevreuse and activate her Elemental Burst first (if using Noblesse Oblige to trigger the 4-piece buff).
- Use her Hold Elemental Skill to fire the Overcharged Ball and trigger her 4th Ascension Passive ATK buff.
- Swap to your main DPS carry and play the rest of the rotation normally while her Skill’s healing ticks on the active character.
- Repeat once her cooldowns are ready.
The key rule: always trigger Overloaded before using her Hold Skill. Her Hold Skill only fires an Overcharged Ball if she has one stored, and she only gets one when a party member triggers Overloaded. If you use Hold Skill before the reaction fires, you miss the ATK buff and a stronger shot.
At C6, try to stay on your carries long enough after her healing ticks to stack all three 20% DMG Bonus buffs before dealing the bulk of your damage. This maximizes the value of her C6 passive.
Chevreuse Ascension Materials
Here is the full list of materials to ascend Chevreuse to level 90:
Character Ascension Materials
- Agnidus Agate (Sliver, Fragment, Chunk, Gemstone) — The standard Pyro ascension gem. Farm from Pyro Regisvine, Pyro Hypostasis, Primo Geovishap, or weekly bosses like La Signora. The Millennial Pearl Seahorse does not drop Pyro gems, so farm these separately.
- Fontemer Unihorn — Dropped by the Millennial Pearl Seahorse, a boss found inside an underwater cave north of Mont Esus East in Fontaine. You need 46 total for full ascension — about 18 average boss runs at high World Level.
- Lumidouce Bell — A local specialty found across Fontaine, especially in the northern areas near the Court of Fontaine. They grow in clusters of three. You need 168 total. They can also be grown in the Serenitea Pot using seeds harvested with the Seed Dispensary gadget.
- Gears (Meshing Gear, Mechanical Spur Gear, Artificed Dynamic Gear) — Dropped by Clockwork Meka enemies found throughout Fontaine, both above and below water. You need large quantities for both ascension and talent upgrades, so farm these consistently during exploration.
Talent Ascension Materials
- Books of Order (Teachings, Guide, Philosophies of Order) — Farmed from the Pale Forgotten Glory domain in Fontaine, available on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. You need 9 Teachings, 63 Guides, and 114 Philosophies to max one talent.
- Gears — Same Clockwork Meka drops as above. You need 18 Meshing Gears, 66 Mechanical Spur Gears, and 93 Artificed Dynamic Gears for all talent upgrades beyond the ascension quantities.
- Lightless Eye of the Maelstrom — Dropped by the All-Devouring Narwhal weekly boss in Fontaine. You need 18 total to max all three talents.
- Crown of Insight — One per crowned talent. Obtained from limited events, the Fountain of Lucine tree in Fontaine, and Archon Quest milestones.
Chevreuse Lore and Story
Chevreuse grew up in Fleuve Cendre. Her father, Donatello, served in the Gardes — Fontaine’s regular law enforcement — and his career shaped Chevreuse’s own deep respect for justice from a young age. She rose through the ranks to become captain of the Special Security and Surveillance Patrol, a more specialized unit focused on Fontaine’s most dangerous offenders.
She wields a musket as her primary weapon, which she maintains obsessively — regularly purchasing expensive materials from Beaumont Workshop to keep it in perfect condition. She is particularly opposed to Gardemeks (automaton enforcers), believing they can block friendly fire and turn on allies without warning. When she became captain, some of her subordinates began adopting muskets and sharing her disdain for the machines.
Despite her strict law-and-order ethos, Chevreuse is not above bending rules in pursuit of a greater good. She has been known to hire convicted criminals as “special consultants” on cases she personally investigates, bribe informants when necessary, and turn a blind eye to certain vigilante justice from allies she trusts — behavior that earns disapproval from more traditional colleagues at the Maison Gardiennage.
Wriothesley has noted that inmates who receive “attention” from Chevreuse’s Special Patrol tend to develop a new level of respect for the rules afterward. She is known throughout Fontaine as someone whose musket only ever points at the guilty.
Her English voice actress is Erica Lindbeck, known for roles including Black Cat in Marvel’s Spider-Man and Jessie in Final Fantasy VII Remake. In Japanese, she is voiced by Shino Shimoji.
Is Chevreuse Worth Building in Genshin Impact?
Yes — if you play Pyro and Electro carries. Chevreuse is the single best support for Overloaded teams and the character that makes that reaction competitive. Without her, pure Pyro/Electro teams feel weak. With her, they transform into one of the strongest archetypes in the game.
She is very easy to build. You do not need perfect artifacts. Stack HP to 40,000, get enough Energy Recharge for your rotation, and she delivers her full value. A Black Tassel at Refinement 5 and a decent HP set is enough to get started. She does not require 5-star weapons or exceptional substat rolls.
At C0, she is already an excellent support. At C6, she becomes one of the strongest 4-star support units in Genshin Impact period — a 60% DMG Bonus buff on top of 40% resistance shred is a staggering amount of buffing from a single character. If you play characters like Raiden Shogun, Arlecchino, Yoimiya, or Clorinde, building Chevreuse should be near the top of your priority list.
She is now on the Standard banner as of Version 4.4, meaning you can obtain her constellations passively over time through Masterless Starglitter and Standard Wish pulls. If you want to explore other Fontaine characters who pair well with her, check out the Arlecchino character guide and the Clorinde character guide for team-building ideas that put Chevreuse’s kit to its best use.
