Raiden Shogun has three distinct ways to be played — and each one points her stats in a different direction. Picking the right archetype for your account is the most important decision when building her.

Burst DPS (Main Role)

This is her classic and most popular role. Raiden uses her Elemental Skill, swaps to let teammates use their Bursts, then comes back to unleash her own Burst — the Musou Isshin state. Team Battery (Support Role)

Raiden Shogun Skills Explained

Normal Attack – Origin

Performs up to 5 consecutive polearm strikes. Her Charged Attack is an upward slash that costs Stamina. During her Elemental Burst’s Musou Isshin state, all Normal, Charged, and Plunge Attacks are converted to Electro DMG that cannot be overridden by infusion from other sources.

Elemental Skill – Transcendence: Baleful Omen

Raiden unveils a shard of her Euthymia and grants nearby party members the Eye of Stormy Judgment. While active:

When a character with the Eye buff attacks an enemy, the Eye fires a coordinated AoE Electro attack alongside them.
Each time a nearby party member uses their Elemental Burst, Raiden stores Resolve based on the Energy cost of that Burst.

Elemental Burst – Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu

This is the centerpiece of Raiden’s kit. She unleashes the Musou no Hitotachi — a massive Electro slash that deals AoE Electro DMG scaled by the Resolve she has stored. Then she enters the Musou Isshin state for 7 seconds, during which:

C1 – Ominous Inscription

Effect: Chakra Desiderata gains Resolve faster. When Electro characters use their Bursts, Resolve gained increases by 80%. When other Elemental Types use their Bursts, Resolve increases by 20%.

This helps Raiden accumulate maximum Resolve in fewer rotations. It is most impactful in Electro-heavy teams like Aggravate. In Raiden National and mixed-element teams, the benefit is more modest. A decent C1 but not a major gameplay change.

C2 – Steelbreaker (Best Stopping Point)

Effect: While in the Musou Isshin state, Raiden Shogun’s attacks ignore 60% of opponents’ DEF.

This is the most famous constellation in the entire game for good reason. DEF Ignore is a uniquely powerful form of damage amplification — unlike RES shred, it cannot be reduced by the enemy having low existing DEF. On its own, C2 is approximately a 43% increase to her Burst damage and around 39% increase in total personal damage. It pushes her firmly into the top tier of on-field DPS characters. If you are going to invest past C0, stop at C2.

C3 – Shinkage Bygones

Effect: Increases the Level of Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu (Elemental Burst) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.

A talent level increase for her Burst. This is a solid upgrade that improves the damage of her Musou no Hitotachi slash and the Energy restoration during Musou Isshin. A nice C3 for anyone who already has C2.

C4 – Pledge of Propriety

Effect: When Musou Isshin state ends, all nearby party members (excluding Raiden Shogun) gain 30% ATK bonus for 10 seconds.

A team support boost that activates after Raiden’s Burst ends. Swap to your main DPS the moment her Burst finishes to take full advantage of this ATK buff. Shifts her further into a support role at higher constellations.

C5 – Shogun’s Descent

Effect: Increases the Level of Transcendence: Baleful Omen (Elemental Skill) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.

A talent level boost for her Skill. This increases the Electro DMG bonus she provides to party members through the Eye of Stormy Judgment. A minor upgrade — low priority on its own.

C6 – Wishbearer

Effect: While in Musou Isshin state, Normal and Charged Attack SPD is increased by 20%. Every Normal and Charged Attack hit reduces the Elemental Burst cooldown of all party members (except Raiden) by 1 second. This can trigger once per second and up to 5 times during the state.

C6 is a whale-tier constellation that gives Raiden’s Burst window more hits through the attack speed boost, and dramatically accelerates team Burst rotation through the cooldown reduction. Elemental Burst — Level first. Her Burst is everything. The Musou no Hitotachi slash and all damage during Musou Isshin scale with this talent. Higher talent level means more damage and more Energy restored per hit.
Elemental Skill — Level second. This increases the Electro DMG Bonus provided to all party members through the Eye of Stormy Judgment. A meaningful team buff that is worth leveling.

Raiden’s rotation is built around the concept of give and take. She gives her teammates Energy with every Burst hit. In return, their Energy expenditure powers up her own Burst. Here is how to execute it properly.

Raiden National Rotation

Use Raiden’s Elemental Skill to place the Eye of Stormy Judgment.
Switch to Bennett — use his Elemental Skill and Burst inside Raiden’s Eye field.
Switch to Xingqiu — use his Elemental Skill and Burst.
Switch to Xiangling — use her Elemental Skill and Burst.
Switch back to Raiden — use her Elemental Burst (Musou no Hitotachi).
