Who Is Kuki Shinobu in Genshin Impact?
Kuki Shinobu is a 4-Star Electro character who wields a Sword. She was released in Version 2.7 on June 21, 2022, as part of Arataki Itto’s banner. She is from Inazuma and serves as the Deputy Officer of the Arataki Gang.
Despite the chaotic reputation of the Arataki Gang, Shinobu is the one who actually keeps things running. She handles legal trouble, mediates conflicts, and makes sure Itto does not land himself in jail — again. She is sharp, professional, and deeply competent. She trained as a priestess, studied law, and even took up swordsmanship before joining the gang. People who know her consistently trust her more than they trust Itto.
In Genshin Impact, Shinobu holds a special place in the roster as the game’s first and only dedicated Electro healer. She fills two roles at once — off-field Electro applicator and healer — which makes her a strong pick in Hyperbloom and Aggravate teams.
If you are building a Dendro reaction team, also check our guide on Nahida, who pairs excellently with Shinobu in Hyperbloom compositions.
Kuki Shinobu Role and Playstyle
Kuki Shinobu is a hybrid Support and Sub-DPS. Her main job is to sit off the field and do two things simultaneously — heal your active character and apply Electro to trigger reactions.
Her core is her Elemental Skill. You press it once, swap out, and let it do its job. The Grass Ring of Sanctification follows your active character, ticking Electro damage every 1.5 seconds and healing at the same time. This makes her extremely low-effort to use. She does not need to stay on the field to contribute.
Her Elemental Burst is situational — it deals HP-scaling Electro damage in an AoE and lasts longer if Shinobu’s HP is at 50% or below when cast. However, in most Hyperbloom teams, players skip her Burst entirely since her Skill does not require high Energy Recharge and her Burst does not add much to the reaction damage.
Her best role in 2026 is as the Hyperbloom trigger. In a Hyperbloom team, your Hydro character and Dendro character create Dendro Cores. Shinobu’s Electro ticks then explode those cores for massive damage — all scaled off her Elemental Mastery.
Kuki Shinobu Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- Heals and deals damage at the same time — no need to choose between the two roles.
- Strong and consistent off-field Electro application every 1.5 seconds.
- Excellent in Hyperbloom — one of the best Electro units for this reaction.
- Easy to play — place her Skill and swap out; minimal field time required.
- HP scaling means she stays tanky while also dealing decent damage.
- Good 4-star and craftable weapon options — easy to build for free-to-play players.
Weaknesses
- Her Elemental Skill drains her own HP — she can be fragile if not managed.
- Healing is single target only; it follows the active character.
- Low personal energy generation — her Burst has high upkeep requirements.
- First healing tick is slightly delayed after activating her Skill.
- Niche outside Electro reaction teams — less useful in non-Dendro teams.
Kuki Shinobu Skills Explained
Normal Attack – Shinobu’s Shadowsword
Performs up to 4 rapid sword strikes. Her Charged Attack unleashes 2 quick slashes. Shinobu’s Normal Attacks provide almost no value in her team compositions — skip investing in this talent entirely.
Elemental Skill – Sanctifying Ring
This is her core ability. Shinobu sacrifices a portion of her own HP to create a Grass Ring of Sanctification. The ring:
- Follows your currently active character around the field.
- Deals Electro DMG to nearby opponents every 1.5 seconds.
- Restores HP for the active character based on Shinobu’s Max HP.
- The HP cost from this Skill can only bring her down to a minimum of 20% HP — it cannot kill her.
The Skill lasts 12 seconds normally, or 15 seconds if Shinobu’s HP is 50% or below when cast. With C2, the duration extends to 15 seconds by default, giving near 100% uptime since the cooldown is 15 seconds.
Elemental Burst – Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite
Shinobu stabs an evil-excoriating blade into the ground. This creates a field that deals continuous AoE Electro DMG based on her Max HP. Like her Skill, the field lasts longer if her HP is at 50% or below when cast. In most Hyperbloom teams, this Burst is used situationally or skipped entirely — building Energy Recharge for it is often not worth it.
Kuki Shinobu Passives Explained
A1 Passive – Breaking Free
When Shinobu’s HP is not higher than 50%, her Healing Bonus increases by 15%. This passive synergises naturally with her Skill — since her Skill drains her HP, she will frequently be at or below 50%, triggering this bonus passively.
A4 Passive – Heart’s Repose
This is the key passive for her Hyperbloom build. The Sanctifying Ring’s abilities are boosted based on Shinobu’s Elemental Mastery:
- Healing is increased by 75% of her EM value.
- Damage dealt by the ring is increased by 25% of her EM value.
This is why you stack Elemental Mastery on Shinobu. More EM means more healing and more damage from her Skill ticks — and more Hyperbloom damage when those Electro ticks hit Dendro Cores.
Utility Passive – Protracted Prayers
Gains 25% more rewards when dispatched on an Inazuma Expedition for 20 hours. A nice bonus for passive farming.
Best Weapons for Kuki Shinobu
Shinobu’s priority stat is Elemental Mastery. For her Hyperbloom build, choose weapons that give as much EM as possible. For a pure healer build, HP% or Energy Recharge are the secondary priorities.
5-Star Weapons
- Freedom-Sworn (Best in Slot): High Elemental Mastery secondary stat and a passive that buffs the team’s Normal, Charged, and Plunge Attack DMG. Excellent for both Shinobu’s personal damage and team utility.
- Key of Khaj-Nisut: Boosts her HP and provides the team with Elemental Mastery. A strong second option that also improves her healing.
- Primordial Jade Cutter: Works well if you need CRIT Rate, but EM is usually a higher priority on Shinobu.
4-Star Weapons
- Iron Sting (Best Free-to-Play Option): Craftable at the blacksmith. Provides an Elemental Mastery secondary stat and a passive that increases all DMG after triggering Elemental reactions. Excellent value with no cost.
- Xiphos’ Moonlight: High Elemental Mastery secondary stat. Its passive grants teamwide Energy Recharge based on Shinobu’s EM — a solid choice that helps reduce her Burst’s energy requirements.
- Favonius Sword: If you need her Burst frequently, this helps with Energy Recharge. You need enough CRIT Rate to trigger the passive consistently.
- Toukabou Shigure: An event sword with EM and a good passive for off-field damage. Worth using if you have it.
Best Artifacts for Kuki Shinobu
Shinobu has two main build paths — Hyperbloom (Sub-DPS) and Healer Support. Choose based on your team composition.
Build 1: Hyperbloom – 4-Piece Flower of Paradise Lost (Best)
This is her optimal setup for Hyperbloom teams. The set boosts Elemental Mastery and directly increases Hyperbloom reaction damage. Pair with weapons that also give EM and aim for over 1,000 total Elemental Mastery. The Gilded Dreams domain is efficient to farm since it produces both Flower of Paradise Lost and Gilded Dreams.
Build 2: Hyperbloom – 4-Piece Gilded Dreams
A solid alternative to Flower of Paradise Lost. It gives EM from the 2-piece bonus and the 4-piece passive further boosts EM or ATK based on party element composition. Easy to farm and works well in most Hyperbloom setups.
Build 3: Healer Support – 4-Piece Tenacity of the Millelith
The best choice if you want Shinobu in a pure healer support role. Her Elemental Skill ticks every 1.5 seconds, which means she constantly triggers the 4-piece passive — boosting the whole team’s ATK by 20% and their Shield Strength. This makes her a reliable off-field buffer even in non-Dendro teams. Aim for HP% across all main stats with this build.
Build 4: Healer – 4-Piece Maiden Beloved
If your team desperately needs healing and nothing else, Maiden Beloved maximises her healing output. Not commonly used, but valid if your active character keeps dying.
Artifact Main Stats (Hyperbloom Build)
- Sands: Elemental Mastery
- Goblet: Elemental Mastery
- Circlet: Elemental Mastery
Artifact Main Stats (Healer Build)
- Sands: HP%
- Goblet: HP%
- Circlet: HP% (or Healing Bonus)
Recommended Substats
- Elemental Mastery (Hyperbloom) or HP% (Healer)
- Energy Recharge (if using her Burst)
- CRIT Rate (only if using Favonius Sword)
Best Teams for Kuki Shinobu
Shinobu shines brightest in Dendro reaction teams — especially Hyperbloom. She can also fit into Aggravate and standard Electro-focused teams.
Hyperbloom Team (Best)
- Nahida — Dendro Applicator + Buffer
- Xingqiu or Yelan — Hydro Applicator
- Kuki Shinobu — Electro Trigger + Healer
- Flex (Kazuha, Zhongli, another Dendro) — Utility
Nahida applies Dendro. Xingqiu or Yelan applies Hydro. Together they create Dendro Cores. Shinobu’s ring then explodes those cores with Electro ticks every 1.5 seconds — all dealing damage scaled off her EM. This team can deal huge damage on a budget, especially since Shinobu is a 4-star character.
Hyperbloom with Double Dendro
- Nahida — Main Dendro
- Yaoyao or Baizhu — Second Dendro + Healer
- Xingqiu — Hydro Applicator
- Kuki Shinobu — Electro Trigger
Adding a second Dendro character boosts the Dendro resonance bonus and ensures consistent core generation. Shinobu still handles healing here, and the double Dendro makes reactions more frequent.
Aggravate Team
- Fischl — Electro Sub-DPS
- Kuki Shinobu — Electro Healer
- Nahida or Collei — Dendro Applicator
- Kazuha or Sucrose — Anemo Support
In an Aggravate team, Dendro is applied to an enemy with an existing Electro aura, causing Electro damage to be boosted. Shinobu provides healing and additional Electro application while Fischl drives the main Electro damage. This is a strong setup for players who want a more active playstyle.
Arataki Itto Geo Team
- Arataki Itto — Main DPS
- Kuki Shinobu — Healer
- Gorou — Geo Support
- Zhongli or Albedo — Geo Flex
Shinobu’s lore connection to Itto makes this a thematic team — and it is also effective. She is the team’s only healer and handles sustain while Itto and Gorou deal damage with the Geo resonance. Her off-field Electro can also trigger Superconduct with a second element for Physical RES shred in Physical setups.
Kuki Shinobu Constellations Guide
Shinobu is solid at C0, but her constellations are very well-designed. C2 is the best stopping point and makes a meaningful difference in her consistency.
C1 – To Cloister Compassion
Effect: Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite’s AoE is increased by 50%.
A modest upgrade to her Burst. Useful if you use her Burst regularly, but since most Hyperbloom players skip the Burst, this has limited impact. Low priority.
C2 – To Forsake Fortune (Best Stopping Point)
Effect: Grass Ring of Sanctification’s duration is increased by 3 seconds.
This is the most impactful constellation. It extends her Elemental Skill’s ring from 12 seconds to 15 seconds. Since the Skill’s cooldown is also 15 seconds, Shinobu now has near 100% uptime on her ring. This means continuous healing and constant Electro application with zero downtime. A massive quality-of-life upgrade. Aim for C2 if you can.
C3 – To Sequester Sorrow
Effect: Increases the Level of Sanctifying Ring (Elemental Skill) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
A talent level boost for her Skill. Since the Skill scales off HP and EM, this increases her healing and damage output. Good if you get it naturally, but not worth spending Primogems specifically for.
C4 – To Sever Sealing
Effect: When characters buffed by the Grass Ring hit opponents with Normal, Charged, or Plunge Attacks, a Thundergrass Mark lands on the opponent and deals AoE Electro DMG equal to 9.7% of Shinobu’s Max HP. This can trigger once every 5 seconds.
This gives Shinobu an extra source of off-field damage tied to HP scaling. Useful in physical or Normal Attack-focused teams. A nice bonus but low priority for Hyperbloom builds.
C5 – To Cease Courtesies
Effect: Increases the Level of Gyoei Narukami Kariyama Rite (Elemental Burst) by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
A talent boost for her Burst. Low priority in most team builds.
C6 – To Ward Weakness
Effect: When Kuki Shinobu’s HP drops to 25% or below, or when she takes lethal damage, she will not fall from that damage. She also gains 150 Elemental Mastery for 15 seconds. This activates automatically when her HP reaches 1.
A strong survival and damage constellation. The 150 EM boost is significant and activates automatically when Shinobu is near death — which happens often given her Skill drains her HP. In a Hyperbloom team, this gives a meaningful damage increase whenever it triggers. A solid endgame constellation for invested players.
Kuki Shinobu Ascension Materials
Here is everything needed to fully ascend Shinobu from Level 1 to Level 90:
- Vajrada Amethyst Sliver x1
- Vajrada Amethyst Fragment x9
- Vajrada Amethyst Chunk x9
- Vajrada Amethyst Gemstone x6 — Drop from Electro Hypostasis or Thunder Manifestation bosses.
- Runic Fang x46 — Drop from the Ruin Serpent boss in The Chasm underground mine. Unlock The Chasm’s underground area first if you have not already.
- Naku Weed x168 — A local specialty of Inazuma, mainly found in the Tatarasuna region. Only Yoimiya and Kuki Shinobu use this plant for ascension. It can also be grown in the Serenitea Pot.
- Spectral Husk x18
- Spectral Heart x30
- Spectral Nucleus x36 — All three drop from Specters found across Inazuma, The Chasm, and later regions.
- 420,000 Mora
Kuki Shinobu Talent Materials
To level all three of Shinobu’s talents to Level 10, you need:
- Teachings of Elegance x9
- Guide to Elegance x63
- Philosophies of Elegance x114 — Obtained from the Violet Court domain in Inazuma on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
- Spectral Husk x18
- Spectral Heart x66
- Spectral Nucleus x93
- Tears of the Calamitous God x18 — Weekly drop from the Raiden Shogun trounce domain.
- Crown of Insight x3 — For maxing all three talents to Level 10.
- 1,652,500 Mora
Kuki Shinobu Talent Priority
- Elemental Skill — Level first. The Grass Ring of Sanctification is everything. Higher talent level means more healing and more damage from each tick. This is the only talent that truly matters for her kit.
- Elemental Burst — Level second. Only worth leveling if you use her Burst regularly. In Hyperbloom teams, this can often be skipped entirely.
- Normal Attack — Do not level. Shinobu barely uses Normal Attacks and they contribute nothing to her main role. Save your talent materials.
How to Play Kuki Shinobu – Rotation Tips
Shinobu’s rotation is one of the simplest in the game. Here is how to use her effectively:
Hyperbloom Rotation
- Apply Dendro with Nahida’s Skill and Burst.
- Apply Hydro with Xingqiu or Yelan’s Skill and Burst to create Dendro Cores.
- Switch to Shinobu and use her Elemental Skill to place the Grass Ring.
- Switch to your driver character (the active character that keeps Cores generating).
- Shinobu’s ring will automatically trigger Hyperbloom by hitting Cores every 1.5 seconds.
- Refresh Shinobu’s Skill when it ends — with C2 this is seamless.
Positioning tip: Keep your active character close to the Dendro Cores on the ground. Shinobu’s ring needs to reach the cores to trigger the reaction. If you are running around too much, cores may not detonate. Stack enemies and cores in one spot for maximum efficiency.
Where to Get Kuki Shinobu
Kuki Shinobu is a 4-star character. She can appear on any banner as an off-banner drop. She also returns on Event Wish banners periodically as a rate-up character. Since she is a 4-star, she is much easier to obtain than 5-star limited characters.

Is Kuki Shinobu Worth Building?
Yes — especially for Hyperbloom teams. Shinobu is one of the most efficient 4-star characters in the game. She fills two roles at once, heals reliably, and deals competitive off-field damage in the right composition. She is also free-to-play friendly since her best weapon, Iron Sting, is craftable.
If you are running a Dendro reaction team and need an Electro unit that can also heal, she is the best option available. She works at C0 and gets even better at C2. You do not need to invest heavily to get strong results.

Frequently Asked Questions About Kuki Shinobu
Is Kuki Shinobu a good healer?
Yes. She provides consistent single-target healing through her Elemental Skill while staying off the field. Her healing scales with HP and Elemental Mastery, so a well-built Shinobu heals plenty in most content. She is not the strongest pure healer in the game, but she is the only one who heals and deals Electro damage at the same time.
What Elemental Mastery does Kuki Shinobu need for Hyperbloom?
Aim for at least 1,000 Elemental Mastery. This is where Hyperbloom damage becomes significant. Higher is better — 1,200 to 1,400 EM is achievable with the right artifacts, weapons, and team buffs like Kazuha or Sucrose applying an EM bonus.
Does Kuki Shinobu need her Burst?
In most Hyperbloom teams, no. Her Burst has a high Energy cost and does not contribute to Hyperbloom trigger damage. Most players skip it entirely and do not build Energy Recharge on her. Her Skill alone is enough for her role.
Can Kuki Shinobu die from her own Skill?
No. Her Elemental Skill has a built-in safety limit — it can only bring her HP down to 20%. It will never kill her. With C6, she also gets a one-time death-prevention effect when her HP drops to 25% or below, giving her extra survivability.
Is C2 Kuki Shinobu worth it?
Yes — C2 is one of the best constellation upgrades for any 4-star character. Extending her Skill’s ring duration from 12 to 15 seconds gives her near 100% uptime on healing and Electro application. It is a meaningful improvement and a great use of Primogems if her banner is active.
What is the best team for Kuki Shinobu in 2026?
The best team is Hyperbloom — Nahida, Xingqiu or Yelan, Kuki Shinobu, and a flex Anemo or utility support. This team is strong, efficient, and beginner-friendly since Shinobu is a 4-star and Iron Sting is craftable. It performs well in both Abyss and Overworld content.
